    Pretty tired of reading posts like this. I'm an animal hoarder by anyone's definition. At any given time I have between four and twenty horses, and between four and twenty cattle. I keep them in fields that are so large they would support about a quarter of those horses in the real world just on grass, in a good climate with fertile land. I have given away or released into the wild more horses than I currently own. I have given away more cattle than I currently own. I have released into the wild many, many more horses than I captured from it in the first place. I have yet to successfully sell a horse. I think I sold some cattle almost a year ago for a few coppers. The game mechanics mandate that to breed horses I need at least four + whatever I've bred. This update / bug was a setback for me, I couldn't find all of my horses. But it hammers the point home again that I need to keep still more, not less, because stuff like this happens. Who really got stuffed around by this bug? The people who don't hoard animals. People with just one or two that lost just one or two. Rolf DID get the message about evil hoarders, he introduced overcrowding rules and changed it so that even enchanted grass can be packed if you over-use it. I was not affected in the least by either change (crowding always looked awful to me), except the bug related to enchanted grass where I lost a few months and maybe 80s worth of enchanting in 48 hours. I believe 90% of the posts complaining about evil animal hoarders are made by people who have never gone to the effort of breeding animals, building proper pens, keeping even a small herd of animals fed and healthy or gone anywhere near the trouble of levelling up meditation to the point where they can enchant grass. And I believe most of those posts are motivated by jealousy of others' achievements and "ingame wealth", not some altruistic robin hood approach to the game and its economics.

    Simple idea. I think it would be nice to have a rack to hold small barrels, I was thinking it would hold 25 barrels, like a fountain does. Edit: Best image I've found so far.

    This is a short fan-made trailer I have been working on which aims to showcase the more creative and social aspects of Wurm Online. It is currently incomplete as I feel it needs a lot more gameplay footage but I'm sharing with everyone just to show the general layout and what I have done so far so that I may get some feedback and suggestions. Over the next few weeks, I will be traveling to a few events and large settlements to try and get some more footage.     The developers need to work out a better system for dragons. Anything left to the players will end in a fight and is not going to help things in the long run. I made a suggestion in another thread and it seems like a good answer to the problem it needs to be fine tuned but it gets close to what i think would be fair for everyone.. Note: In the new dragon system they would ignore an fence and house wall making it impossible to be penned in. I am sure there are other things that need to be addressed but i think it is a good starting base to build off of.

    Sorta like multiple priests linking together to cast high power spells. Allow additional carpenters to contribute their skill to planning structures larger than what is possible now. Whatever the formula. Maybe they all need to be above a certain skill and only a certain percentage of the additional carpenters' skill levels is usable but honestly what's the harm in allowing far larger structures in the game? Resource gathering time would effectively limit the proliferation of too many superstructures. Based on some of the screenshots posted since multistory buildings went live it's pretty obvious Wurm will only benefit from more complex and expressive architecture. In fact I would suggest that all development efforts should be focused on the sort of features that let players get as creative as possible. That's what's going to attract new players in droves, not crappy PVP mechanics.

    I too think we should put a bell on the cat. But who will do it? Seriously, what are the practical ways of doing this? Throw an enormous deed on the mountain? Fence him in? Tame it? I know I might pay money to see a video documenting someone's attempts to train it. "Day 400: having been dragon food 30 times already today, I think I am beginning to win it over. At least, when he raises his talon to kill me, it is a bit slower and he sighs a little."

    Now that we can make pretty impressive looking buildings it would be nice if we could make guard towers like we do normal buildings. The process of starting it would be identical to normal buildings and once the user is satisfied with how it looks they could construct a guard tower token somewhere in the building which would serve as the center point for guard spawns, distance to other guard towers, and the point for conversion on the PvP servers. Once the token is finished the writ would vanish and the building would become a kingdom building with all doors opening to all kingdom members but locked to enemies. To prevent a poor mans towers the material cost for the building would have to reach some minimum before it would be possible to build a guard tower token in it.

    Serious consideration needs to be taken on NEVER connecting the Pristine server cluster lands with the pre-release Freedom cluster servers. This is a significant and appropriate break point in Wurm's history with both the release of Wurm 1.0 and all of the significant fixes and quality improvements. There is a long list of reasons to keep the server clusters separate and negative consequences of Freedom cluster characters and their skills, items, resources, and wealth being allowed to enter the Pristine cluster servers. One of the biggest draws for both new and existing players to the Wurm Pristine server was that it is an entirely fresh start. Unexplored and unbuilt upon lands inhabited by characters all starting out at the same point. Allowing Freedom cluster characters to cross into the Pristine cluster will result in a sudden influx of extremely advanced characters as well as loads of high level enchanted tools, are items, weapons and armors far and above the quality of anything being used or able to be made on the Pristine server cluster. Skill Affinities As everyone starts out fresh on the Pristine cluster servers, every single character there has only one skill affinity. Due to its connection to the Wild/Chaos server, there are Freedom cluster characters with a large number of skill affinities on a single character - many traded or bought from other players by exploiting the ability to go to the Wild/Chaos server and 'let' another player kill you to acquire their affinity. Unique Creatures Server unique creatures such add atmosphere and challenge to the areas they inhabit as well as a goal focus for characters that hope to someday engage and defeat them. Likely no Pristine character that’s lived in the area since the start of the server or any Pristine started character will be involved in killing the uniques that live there. There's no doubt that mere days or just hours after connecting the Freedom server cluster to the Pristine server cluster that Pristine's uniques will fall to parties of long time Freedom cluster characters already decked out in drake hide armor and high quality enchanted weapons. Where's the challenge in that? Economy The Pristine cluster servers will quickly establish their own economy. Connecting the Freedom cluster servers would inject character accounts with massive silver and resource stockpiles acquired over many years of gameplay and farming traders for money. Obviously this would drastically both devalue the current high end items able to be crafted on Pristine and the hard won 'starting from scratch' skill levels of pristine characters. Gameplay wise for the Pristine cluster players this would destroy their ability to compete with the influx of wealth and high skill characters. Financially for Code Club this would also substantially reduce the amount of silver players will buy if the server clusters are connected. Old players on the Pristine server cluster will use transferred funds from their established Freedom characters and both old and new players will buy in-game money from wealthy Freedom players instead of Code Club. Past bugs, exploits and past baggage Every game during development has bugs, exploits and other issues that need to be stamped out and dealt with. Typically all characters, items, and wealth are wiped out when a game moves from beta to release. Obviously Wurm has taken a less than typical development path - still, why intentionally inflict these remnants of past bugs and changes on the new server cluster? Many of the account skills, wealth and some types of items gained from past fixed exploits and misc. bugs still exist on the Freedom cluster servers - compromises were made - from this point on decisions were put in place with the previous damage done left in place. Fountain backpacks, satchels and pans are the primary example - I'm sure several others exist. Even the nature of the items give out at Xmas has been significantly altered. Now more than ever is the time for a clean break between past errors and the new path forward. Making the Pristine server and new servers connected to it their own separate server cluster would be the best route forward. New servers can always be added to both Freedom and Pristine clusters in the future.

    I'm not sure what you're wanting from Rolf, Vet; world peace? An end to inequality, greed and envy? Might take a bit more than some dodgy programming and a new server. You could just, y'know, not play if it depresses you that much. Although the real world isn't much better in that regard. Anyone else up for some drunken nub-adventures next week?

    The best idea EVER would be to stop using paving for extra floors in a multistory house. It doesn't make sense to use paving... AT ALL. Paving noun 1. a pavement. 2. material for paving. 3. the laying of a pavement. Pavement noun 1. a paved road, highway, etc. 2. a paved surface, ground covering, or floor. 3. a material used for paving. 4. Atlantic States and British, sidewalk. Pave verb 1. to cover or lay (a road, walk, etc.) with concrete, stones, bricks, tiles, wood, or the like, so as to make a firm, level surface. AND Wurm definition http://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Paving *Paving is the skill needed to pave dirt, e.g. for faster travel on roads, covering your yard to prevent nature taking it over, laying the floor of your house, or simply for aesthetic pleasure. *It is possible to pave under water[1], for example to ease the exiting of the vessel onto dry land in a ship dock/harbour, and for aesthetics purposes. Sorry but no, I can't understand the need to force people who worked hard to reach some decent masonry/carpentry to suddenly need to grind pavement just because that skill had barely no use. Find something else to build to use that skill but a floor on a second floor isn't paving by definition. Example: Make nicer pavement, special sidewalks... Sorry for those who have affinity with it, but there is other skills that have no use at all. It like a slap in the face... "There fools, start losing your time making more and more materials, go destroy your neighbor roads and repave the entire thing.... TWICE, then maybe you will be able to put a floor on your head" On a second note, what was the process behind the choice of the skill?     It seems like this game is turning towards the cowboy direction with all of the cattle drives and the rounding of the horses, if I'm going to continue having to round up my horses after every update, I'd like to do it in style. Please add lassos, cowboy hats, and six shooters..

    My bows I casted had anywhere from 70-90 nimbleness, and with even 99 archery on Epic, it's a roll of the dice. Sometimes I can face shot something and hit every single time, sometimes I can be shooting downhill with major height advantage and watch a pile of arrows form at my feet. Aim options are just generally much less reliable than normal shooting.

    So the other day I planted a banner in my house and was like "AWESOME ITS HANGING OVER THE PARAPET " Then I went to the bottom to admire it from the outside and was like "OOH IT DOESN'T HANG OVER " So my suggestion: Make banners hang over parapets when you place them on the edge.

    No one is denying anoyone from going to the Pristine cluster. Just denying them being able to take thier boat full of insta-deed and super high ql stuff with them. Anyone can make a toon on the pristine cluster. If you do not want a fresh start, stay on the freedom cluster. If you want access to those high skilled crafter of old, stay on freedom cluster. If you want a 'safe' enviroment devoid of the really big nasties, stay on freedom cluster. If you do want a fresh start on equal footing with everyone else, go to pristine cluster. If you want the chance to work up your skills and be the GoTo guy for your craft, go to the Pristine cluster. If you want the challenge of developing around and someday defeating th big nasties, go to the Pristine cluster. The Pristine cluster and the Freedom cluster appeal to as different playstyles as PVE and PVP if not more so. Connecting them would Homogenize the population and make it all one playstyle again appealing to a smaller market again and losing people to boredom again. To those that say in 3 years it will be the same as Freedom, well let's talk about that in 3 years; and if so start a new cluster then.

    Now that armor is visible, chain armor should be the color of whatever metal it was crafted from. Iron (existing), steel, copper, bronze, silver or gold color.

    When I was tons younger (XD), my cousin and I, we used to play Heroes IV a lot. Once, some familiar said in the middle of a familiar dinner "... yeah, im at English Level 5 (studying)".     I see nothing wrong with this. They found a nice place and the only price they ask is that whoever deeds it lets them join the deed. If I were on that server I would consider it.

    Ahhh, I "fixed" your statement. It was almost correct Look at the creatures Rolf has recently added to the game, and the changes to combat and even the way creatures spawn. These were definitely intended to increase the difficulty of PVE play. Mobs always used to spawn young and get older. Now they can spawn at anything up to venerable - this by itself makes things much harder. Hellhounds are tough beasties, and very persistent. Spiders now seem to have a LOT more hit points. I went on a long roundabout trip last night on a rescue mission, took several hours because I needed a large cart to push over the edge of a badly mangled rock tile to rescue a trapped player in a drop shaft. At one point I found myself on the east side of Bear Bay at Hillbilly Harbor with 10 spiders and 6 hellhounds chasing me. Hellhounds, especially aged or venerable ones, are too dangerous for me to attempt with Bob if I'm not on a fast horse. Bob's wearing @70 QL plate, with 56ish fight skill, and 45ish weapon skill and an aged hellhound will kill him in a standup fight more than 50% of the time if I can't get away to heal. At one time with Bob I could go anywhere I wanted and pretty much only feared champ trolls, scorps, and crocs that were older than mature. I had my arse handed to me by a normal adolescent troll the other day because I was overconfident. PVE is not a pushover, it is intended to be dangerous. If you want that safe base of operations to base yourself out of, then you should consider protecting it by deeding it. If you aren't a hunter/fighter and need the safety of a secure place, then you really need to invest in a deed, or live in a guarded village. The PVP apect of griefing on the PVE servers is somewhat irritating, I agree, but The way I see it, Rolf is giving the nod to a player who is willing to invest more in the game. If you build an undeeded place well, it will last a very, very long time before failing, even if perimeter is pushed over it, so that nod to the player willing to pay more is a very weak nod, but yes, they are given priority even if it takes a very, very long time for their actions to actually force you away from your undeeded land. Additionally, if you choose to be a Magranon follower, when the Mag yearly rite is cast, it will repair all buildings and walls in Magranon controlled lands, (even if undeeded, I think) but you need to be able to have your houses last quite a while so they can survive between casts, and the altar has to have Mag control over the area as well.

    Rolf should stick to his word of linking the servers since I'm sure a lot of people moved to Pristine with the idea that they'd be able to bring the characters they invested in along sometime and not lose their hard work. To go back on that now wouldn't be fair to that portion of the player population. That said, Pristine should be given some time to develop. I would say one year is acceptable. This should make the server well established and a decent mark. Rolf never said when the servers would link up and all players accepted a blank timeline, so there should be no complaints. In the meantime, Release and Pristine can develop their own communities just like everyone else. Please don't trivialize the new player experience but dumping veterans on it too early.

    Aelfred, that really depends. If they're wild horses on pristine then sure it's no big deal, we can round them up again but on other Freedom servers when they are horses that people have been breeding for months? Losing those is way worse then losing a few hours grinding imo!

    The issue is some people are so used to complaining about absolutely everything they can't recognise a good thing from bad anymore. New server is good wherever it may be and whoever may access it.

    I hope that it is never connected or at least not for a year or two. It has been very exciting seeing this server come together and giving us that were not there in the beginning what it felt like to be the first in a new world. I am also excited about tthe chance to be the goto guy on the new server for high ql items but if they are connected then those dreams go poof and the same people that are on freedom now will be the same ones controlling the market then. They already have the skill, the set-up, and the capital to plop down an insta-deed on the new server the day it is connected driving local business into the ground. I know there are probably some with boats already loaded waiting for the day it is connected. Also once it is connected the uniques will be slaughtered in a month and it becomes 'just another server'. Then the fire of excitement will be extinguished and it will become like Celebration with 20-30 people playing on it. The reason people came to Pristine was not just new land but a new opportunity wich would not be served by connecting it to the old places and old players with the old market and ways of doing things.

    We brought some newbies to this server to skill up a bit, assuming it will be linked later and they will move to our deed on Chaos. Think there might be a few more like us.

    If this is the case pristine needs to be separated from the freedom cluster, their own global chat and their own forum boards otherwise you are just separating the player base and it is funny that players cry about new servers added to the freedom cluster because it would "thin out the population" but they moved on over to pristine which is a pretty big separation. It should be on its own for awhile yes but if its going to continue to be on the freedom cluster it needs to be connected. So. No link it up down the line.

    I agree because this closes all the old "windows of opportunity" - if you've been playing this game for a while you will know what I mean. This corrects old changes and truly creates Wurm fresh for 1.0. Connecting that to the old lands will compromise the appeal of Pristine imo.
