Nice to see that the pristine server actually was online! Before I start up the servers again, hopefully pretty soon, this will be have been done: Rollbacking bugged caves (done) Checking why riding doesn't work (done) Handing out mirrors so you can customize your face (done) Setting your face properly random (done) Portals to and from Epic (done) We still haven't figured out how to offer new appearance changes so right now you get one mirror but since it's a newbie item we'll make it available in other ways somehow.

Another possible take on how this system could work... You should automatically sheathe and unsheathe a weapon depending on whether or not you're targeting something or not. As soon as you target something, you draw your weapon. After you either kill the target, or you no-target, your weapon should automatically be sheathed again. Maybe you could require wearing a scabbard around the legs or torso, depending on weapon? Bows would obviously require a torso scabbard on the back, while a single-handed longsword, maul, or axe would require a scabbard placed on the legs (such as the toolbelt). The larger weapons would require torso scabbards that hang on your back as well. Simple idea, but I think it would save a lot of headaches for people who dislike seeing their weapons flail around uncontrollably in front of them.

3kg Concrete (1.5kg Lye + 1.5kg Mortar) --- (Concrete chance was low with my stats) + Slate Shingle (Made from Chisel on Slate Shard) This CREATES (was 99%) My Mason is only 43ql, Alchemy 6, Natural Substances 14 (Add Epic Skills Adjustment Im on Elevation) THEN: [23:31:18] <Karellean> [23:30:54] You see a slate slab under construction. Ql: 3.1966944, Dam: 0.0. The slate slab needs 4 concrete, and 20 slate shingle to be finished. Your all welcome... (Ouch by the way on mats) This means 7.5 Ash, (and 15kg water) + 15kg Sand + 15kg Clay +21 Slate Shards for one Slate Slab You WILL need to complete this on the ground most likely... as the product grows to over 300kg in construction... Fear Not it does reduce to 80ql on completion

What a nice surprise! Thank you very much! It was way past midnight when I returned from the "Hobbit" cinema premiere last night - and just before going to bed I noticed this message on twitter . So that 12.12.12 definitely was a good day for me!

Thank you Team Wurm!!!! You guys have spoiled me for EVERY other game on the market, I don't even have any interest in the new triple-A titles ... because they are not cool as Wurm!

With the introduction of visible armor, a Fo priest using Oakshell will make a glaring target in pvp and will be instantly dispelled and hacked to pieces once melee combat begins. I have two possible suggestions. 1. Turn oakshell into an armor enchant OR 2. Leave Oakshells functionality as it is but allow it to take effect over worn armor pieces so that a fo priest does not have to get naked to benefit from it. Some extra consideration: With the new ease in targeting in combat, Eye shots are now especially dangerous, Most players go for the head and Oakshell provides no eye protection. If the second option is taken, I'd like to request for Oakshell to receive a buff to also provide eye protection. otherwise it would nullify the purpose of wearing a plate helm.

Ah, a mirror, I can see it now.... [06:52:40] You hold a mirror in your right hand. [06:52:40] You start brushing your hair. [06:52:43] Sadly, your hair doesn't look any better despite your best efforts. [06:52:44] You start brushing your hair. [06:52:47] After brushing you will start brushing again. [06:52:50] You have now brushed your hair and you seems pleased. [06:52:51] Your hair does not need brushing.

Alright, the first thing I notice when I try logging in is, there's completely no documentation whatsoever on one of the major (and coolest) features in 1.0, and thats, yep, you guessed it... ...House building. Understandably, wiki hasn't been updated yet, so i hope this thread can help consolidate all your current knowledge regarding houses and their new features so as to avoid confusion when building your dream home. (probably good copypasta too when someone decides to edit the wiki) Floors Wooden plank floor -Hammer/mallet, uses carpentry -1 plank to start, 10 additional planks -1 small nails to start, 2 additional small nails Pottery brick floor -Trowel, uses paving (successful at 22.8 skill) -1 pottery brick to start, 10 additional bricks -1 mortar to start, 10 additional mortar (contrib. by ianrose) Stone slab floor -Trowel, uses paving (successful at 22.8 skill) -1 slab to start, 2 additional slabs -1 mortar to start, 10 additional mortar (contrib. by KyleBooze) Marble slab floor -Trowel, uses paving Stone brick floor -Trowel, uses masonry -1 stone brick to start, 10 additional bricks -1 mortar to start, 2 additional mortar Slate slab floor -Trowel, uses paving -1 slate slab to start, 2 additional slab -1 mortar to start, 10 additional mortar (contrib. by Karellean) Floor comparisons Stone brick vs. pottery brick Stone brick vs. Slate slab Full comparison Roofs Wooden shingle roof -Hammer/mallet -1 wooden shingle to start, 20 additional shingles -1 small nails to start, 2 additional small nails Slate shingle roof Trowel, uses paving Pottery shingle roof Trowel, uses masonry Thatched roof Hammer/mallet, uses thatching Fences Indoors -Very little info at the moment. It would seem indoor fences can only be built outside an actual building (irony) so imho they can currently only be built on upper levels as balconies. Wooden fence Wooden parapet Low wall Stone parapet Stone and iron parapet Tall wall Iron fence Outdoors Crude wooden fence -Appears to be bugged at the moment, simply planning the fence with 1 shaft creates an impenetrable fence called "unknown wall type -13" Building materials Concrete -1.5kg Lye + 1.5kg Mortar = 3kg Concrete Slate shards -Mine from slate vein. Slate shingle -Use chisel on slate shards, nets 15kg Slate shingle. Slate Slab -3kg Concrete + 20x 15kg Slate shingles = 80kg Slate slab Pottery Brick -Use hand on clay(>15kg), nets 15kg Clay brick. -Place Clay brick in a fire. Pottery Shingle -Use hand on clay, nets Clay shingle -Place Clay shingle in a fire. Wooden Shingle -Use saw on plank(>0.3kg), nets 0.3kg Wooden shingle. Notes: -No more building on slanted tiles. All buildings MUST be on flat ground. -Note that you have to create a floor plan below you before you can build a roof. Do this by using a hammer/mallet on a floor and Plan>Floor below, then Plan>Floor above/Roof. -The new floor plans are different from floor tiles, which will be overridden once you complete building on that plan. -There are NO action timers for destroying incomplete floors or roofs, so be careful where you click! -Ladders are generated from open floor plans as soon as you finish building them. -There is currently no way to shift completed furniture up and down floors. They can only be hauled up in their incomplete forms. These are my observations from the first hour in 1.0, so the knowledge I have is pretty sparse atm. If you have any new knowledge on multi-storied housing, do share, and I'll add them to the OP. Thanks!

Yes. Amazing what happens to server population when 300 people make new alts to check out the noob server. It goes up by almost 300.

Given the circumstances it’s questionable if it’s some to brag about (since we had to postpone several hours) but at least we hit the date 12/12/12 when releasing version 1.0. Shortly after we had to bring the game down for another round of bug fixing but since then it’s been up.We weren’t able to post status messages here because tumblr went down for a few hours. There are a couple of issues that we’re going to start looking at asap: Client memory usage, a collision bug, and tweaking construction. Also there’s too much slate in the slate regions that used to be iron regions. All in all, the game is live with the new changes and people sound really happy! View the full article

I forsee a Wurm with paved over forests like massive parking lots as people attempt to gain "paving skill" just to get their floors redone and a roof over their head.

I couldn't exactly say I've been waiting for this moment for six years, because I was a noob for a long time (and still am in many ways ), but this has been a long time coming, and I think it's all worked out perfectly. Wurm Online has captured my attention like no other game over these years, and I love to constant development and improvement, so fun to see new updates and look forward to them, even with a few setbacks now and then. But all in all, it's been a really awesome experience and I'd like to thank Rolf, the Devs, and community. Looking forward to the future!

A container that acts like a backpack in the idea of a carry able storage device. The tool box can hold any type of tool regardless of its size (within reason of course). The idea behind this is so you can have designated tool boxes for different jobs. Say you are a carpenter and mason, you would have two toolboxes. One for carpentry and one for masonary. This way you can only take the tools you need with you according to the job. You no longer would have to rummage through chests to find all your tools just to find out you forgot that one. Ideas, suggestions?

Hello Prissies! Last Updated: 4th February 2013 Low-res edition: http://noizeviolatio...m/wurm/pris.png or http://tinyurl.com/d7zkc4p High-res edition: http://noizeviolatio...wurm/hipris.png or http://tinyurl.com/a4ur228 GMAP edition: not yet available (this gmap url will change with each update and updated less often) And now the complicated bits. Submissions Submissions should be made on this thread or with a private message. Deed submissions must include; Deed name Deed location Deed size/upkeep (do not include perimeter sizes) Alliance name, members and preferred colour (if applicable). Requests for special trade icons, traders, mailboxes, merchants or other icons as detailed below. Terrain submissions should be posted with a diagram. Clay and Tar resources can be submitted as a grid location. Do not submit names for lakes, seas, mountains, islands, that bump by your house, that OMFG awesome bit you once saw while you were hunting... The Grid The map grid is 64*64 squares. Each square represents 32*32 game tiles. The grid's x-axis is numbered 01-64. The grid's y-axis is listed A through to BL. Co-ordinates should be given as XY. e.g. 13AF or 03BB etc. Deeds Deeds are given in four sizes as follows; Homestead: 121 to 440 deed tiles Village: 441 to 1224 deed tiles OR between 1s and 2.449s upkeep (not counting guards) Town: 1225 to 2600 deed tiles OR between 2.45s and 5.2s upkeep (not counting guards) City: Over 2601 deed tiles OR above 5.2s upkeep (not counting guards) Any deed may request for its icon to be represented as a Market, Festival or Sermon site. Deeds requesting to be Markets should have at least 3 filled merchants stalls present. If the deed area is walled off it may request to be represented as a Fortified Village, Walled Town or Walled City. If the deed is named as a castle, citadel or fortress, in-game, then it may request to be represented as a castle icon. Deeds may request one specialist merchant icon. e.g. Leatherworker. Deeds may request mailbox, merchant or trader icons. Alliances Deeds can be shown to belong to an alliance using a colour-code system. Alliances can request a colour for their alliance. Allocation will depend on existing alliances within their area. In some cases where a alliance members are in close proximity to one another, the alliance can choose to have the alliance name on the map instead of individual deed names. Highways and Tunnels Only roads which qualify as Highways under the game rules may be submitted for the map. Cave canals may be submitted. Walkway tunnels that fall under the protection of Highways under the game rules may be submitted. Miscellaneous Deeds requesting to be Markets should have at least 3 filled merchants stalls present. Towers can be submitted by grid location. Towers may not be added if their position overlaps badly with an existing deed. All non-deed symbols/icons may be moved/removed as deeds have priority. Only a small selection of 'trades' or 'crafts' will be available as specialised merchant icons. Please do not repeatedly request more. Excessive squabbling will not convince me to add/amend anything. In fact, it might earn you a turd icon where your deed should be. Removals If you do not wish your deed to be shown, or wish to have it removed from the map, please contact me directly via PM.

The ability to purchase prem time/coins for other players via shop, without needing their pw. Would make gifting your friends or recieving awards alot easier. To prevent players from seeing how much eachother have in their ingame bank accounts: Add another section in shop called "Giftshop" or something like that. Can type in a players name without a password and the ingame coins in their bank will not be shown here. This way, you can give other players prem time/coins without their pw, and you dont end up seeing their ingame balance (thats something i wouldn't want other players to see). Would also be useul for selling stuff on forums (Ex: i could sell something for 2 months prem time) Feel free to improve and revise this idea/shop feature below- but please don't bash this idea. It is a good feature that should be added.

So i read Falling damage was increased for higher altitudes. I fell from a 100 steep slope, and this is what happens. Here is what happens when you fall from a 50 slope 0.25 skill loss on 5 skills is so awesome wheeeee..... So I'm guessing you would die having more than 30kg in your inventory. That is all fine and dandy if you like super realistic, but wurm isn't. Any super flat raising job will involve your character being canned before its even complete at that rate, just think of how many times you fall while raising. Ridiculous

Then dont build a roof and new floor. Some people will really always complain about something goddamn. Can't you be just happy that he succesfully introduced all these new features? Is it really so terrible that you have to spend some time making a new thatch roof in return for the option to build multistory and customize your house?

First you need to collect some bodies. Just murder anyone who walks by. Once you have 20 or more... Start laying them in an overlapping, crisscross pattern across the planned crossbeams.

I really like that this is difficult, because it will be correspondingly rare. Installing slate as opposed to wooden shingles should not merely be a stylistic choice, like choosing whether to wear a red shirt or a blue shirt. It requires difficult ingredients, more skill, and more patience. And for the players who have or procure those things, the pride and sense of accomplishment that results is probably greater as a result.

Due to weight of Slab (15kg Shingles x 20) Most of you will need to finish this on the ground... Fear not... The Slab reverts to 80kg once complete And in continuation of this: Also I just happen to have Paving 30 Due to the Image Below..... [23:54:44] You plan a opening made of slate slab. [23:54:54] You see a opening under construction. The opening requires 2 slate slabs and 10 mortar to be finished. SO for a slate slab floor 22.5 Ash , 45kg of water 55kg of Sand, 55kg Clay + 63 Slate Shards... Enjoy... And im back to work here... ( Why I have paving 30)

So, let me get this straight.. I now HAVE to build a roof over every single one of my buildings. These buildings that have built for ages. I don't want a multi story house and could care less about them. This should have been a simple mechanic to code, especially given how much time it took to get to this point. And for some of these roofs, you need nails, which needs iron, which has disappeared, magically turning into slate (9 tiles of iron gone). Or more friggin mortar.. I was DONE with all that crap. I spent my money to support this game, buying time and silver to support three deeds. It is crap like this, while some people are dancing in the streets, really ticks others off, which results in people deciding that it isn't worth the time anymore and leaving the game. NO you can't have my stuff...

I think there is a larger-than-normal amount of veteran players who do NOT intend to have properties of any sort on the new server. A few are going over to help jumpstart "new player villages" etc but most seem to intend to go back home afterwards. The main reason for this, is 1) They cannot bring over high skilled players to quickly build an entire village, and they are not really pysched to relevel again 2) they cannot bring boats stuffed with building supplies to use (especially stuff they have packed away in BSBs and nothing to use it on) 3) they cannot "easily" use their silver coin holdings to pay for theior new deeds. It's possible to sift these silver coins through an epic alt -- but since the skills and materials are still not easy to acquire, most seem to be happy to leave the new server to the newer players. Also I think many of them are looking at some MAJOR renovations on their howme deeds and while starting a new settlement is usually pretty exciting, right now I think many are overwhelmed with stuff to do on their original estates, with reroofing and adding new floors etc. Someplace around is a poll asking "legacy" players how many intended to go to the new server, either for a shortterm or longterm holdings, and the number was very low for veteran players who intended to start any settlement there. Much lower than we saw happen with the earlier PvE added servers. I think Rolf did this one right.

Sorry, but have to say no to this idea. After all, the servers are available 24/7 and have to be so all can play. You are not just paying for your time to play, you are paying to have those servers always available when you are ready to play. And Rolf has to pay for that, so you have to pay also.

I'm ok with some use for paving but I really hope 20, 30, 40 or 50 paving isn't required for floors. It's not that it's too hard, its that the servers will turn into god awful parking lots as people grind up paving skill. I dunno maybe high paving for marble or something but I foresee concrete jungle.

What award did you win? lol, for some reason that just really struck me as an award speech, mind if I steal that if I ever win something someday? Anyways, ya, I'm a noob, just started a few days ago, and this game seems quite awesome, and for the few seconds that I was in before maintenance, it was amazing. So far the community is small but great, and I really hope I can talk alot more local people in experiencing the journey that is Wurm! Awesome job Devs!!!!
