You may notice an icon on this thread that looks suspiciously like a lock. In fact its just a number of pixels that resemble the shape of a lock. Why is that peculiar jumble of pixels there you might ask? Simple. We are not opposed to the discussion of other games, but advertising is a whole other story. Also, the poster of this is a known member of the Xsyon group and is therefor misleading potential consumers. Oh, and now that I think about it, yes those pixels that look like a lock, are in fact a representation of the fact that this thread is locked.

I've worked it out, and exactly a year ago to this day, I started playing Wurm. Wurm is a game that I'd heard mentioned in PC Gamer, and as I was getting bored of the games I was playing at the time (World of Tanks and Supreme Commander FA) I thought it'd be worth a try. Having completed the tutorial, I logged on to the Exodus server, and quite simply picked a direction and went in it! (Wiki tips FTW!) This was in the pre Freedom map dump era and I was relying on some semi-rough maps of a new server to get around. I did, of course, get eaten by a bear. I then went north, over tundra mountain and found a spot on a beach near a place called Port Exodus. I built a 2x1 shack there as well as my first boat - and that's where Wurm began for me. Since then, I've played non-stop, with the longest break from the game being a 9 day holiday to Austria - not that I didn't check the forums every now and again while there... a game has never kept me captivated for so long so much and a year in, I feel there's still plenty left for me to do. I'm also now helping out on the PR Team, it's a fun job that isn't too demanding yet I still feel like I'm putting something back into the community, a community that is the best of any game I've ever played, with no contest. So overall, thank-you Wurm for a great year and I look forward to more of them; thank-you to everyone behind making Wurm what it is today; and thanks to everyone who I've met along the way. Everything about Wurm is what makes it Wurm and what makes it unique - and is why I'm still here today.

Item security is tantamount to the success of the Wurm economy, which is why a lot of effort has gone into making sure transactions are safe and that items don't get lost. However, the world has been running for six years now during heavy development. During this period we have had situations such as a few item exploits, database crashes and bugs with ingame mail. Sometimes there are communication glitches just as you change servers. It is very hard to avoid when you run a live beta test development situation and there are plenty of other examples of MMO's that have run into the same problems. This means there will be a few items that are bugged in one way or another. Luckily these bugged items are far between. Most of you will never see one. In some cases it's been the matter of a drake armour or scale set, which has substantial value. We will take time to look into the matter and try to locate it for you. In some cases we will be able to and in other we won't. We have a "no reimbursements" policy and the reason is that bugs are expected in software development and we are afraid of ending up in endless administration. Sorting out these cases can take a lot of valuable development time which would benefit the rest of the players so we often have to be picky and only work on the ones where substantial loss has occurred. We will however often reimburse you anyways because even small loss derives from the fun. If you are certain that you have lost an item due to a bug, please first contact the GM's using /support with the following information: Item name, qualitylevel, damage, description, creator, enchants, etc. As much info as you can. Information about where the item was last seen and the events leading up to the disappearance such as who you retrieved it from and whether it was mailed etc. Account name, servers involved. Estimated value in Wurm coins.

I've just started on this and it's my first time on this kind of online game. Professional gamer i'm not! Firstly, i've found the whole community darn amazing - really friendly and very very helpful. I haven't once been made to feel like an annoying new player. It's certainly helped having family and friends on here to help me along as well. Onto the topic title - I certainly need an Idiots Guide. With much amusement for my friends i have found my "gaming intelligence" to be rather somewhat lacking. 1st - I lost my spade. Panic stricken i looked and looked around and couldn't find it. 20 minutes of wondering why it had disappeared I, acciddently, looked down. Low and behold - the missing spade - at my feet! then - my spade went missing again. Another 10 minutes and, with help from my cousin, i found it in my inventry. I hadn't realised i could scroll down! (im not computer illiterate - honest!) Well it just got better! I went off mining and started to get attacked. I ran like mad back to safety. I was totally confused that my combat screen hadn't appeared, convinced i'd somehow deleted it. Guards hadnt come to help when i'd asked for help. After explaining to a friend that it said i was hurt, cus it flashed up i was, and i had a lightly scratched torso (major injury in my eyes) i was asked what the "monster" looked like. I said I didnt know cus i'd ran like the wind. he realised id actually just fallen, and had been running from absolutely nothing except an angry slope!!!!! Carts - i must be the only person that has taken over 4 hrs to make a small cart. I followed the Wiki instructions, but just couldn't get past the stage of unfinished wheel axles. id managed to make wheels, and attached to axles, but alas no further than that. Yet again online friends to the rescue. Every time i made a wheel i put it onto an axle. I was then trying to combine 1 wheeled axle with another wheeled axle. Common sense had obviously evaded me that each axle needs 2 wheels that share 1 axle. If nothing else in the first couple of days i have amused several people with my very blonde gaming antics, and one gamer has been reduced to tears of laughter! But im addicted and here to stay. Even dying at six o clock on the morning and waiting for over an hour for someone i knew to log on and help me hasnt put me off!!

I think marble should be added to Wurm in the form of a vein. You should be able to mine it like rockshards then turn the rockshards into statues, bricks, colossus bricks, etc. Then you can make walls, houses, colossi, etc that take less damage from decay than regular stone objects.

Sometimes more realism like this makes for less convenient game play. After all, it's a game, not a simulator.

Hey guys, remember when we used to be able to play without refreshing lag and being disconnected? Mounting horses and boats without being lagged out anywhere from nothing to 5 minutes? Remember when you weren't more worried about dying lagged out instead of dying to the enemy in your local? Good times, can we have them back yet? This host sucks.

Suggestions in short: - make mailing of all types of items to all servers (at least of same kingdom) possible - combined items to be counted as 1 cost wise - no more wrapping need for mailing - allow wrapping though for all items. ( sending wrapped presents is sometimes just more fun, with Christmas upcoming etc ) - items that fit in 1 container to count as 1 cost wise. Not a priority, but this might really help out new players and bring even more market options, game fun and game activity. Reasons: So, that local market argument never worked, and that seems the only argument against a mailing system improvement. I ended up grinding ropemaking up to 75 and farming to 85 because i could not find any local suppliers of sacrificing ropes. Not just no local, but no suppliers at all. It just ruins the fun for people to travel several hours if thats all the game time they have i guess. For me at least, traveling just to get an item that i could use, is not much of a fun factor really. So what happens i don't buy things that i would buy if they could be delivered by mail. I see it with myself, i rarely travel at all anymore. With just an hour or two game time daily, it is not feasible. Local markets never did work, since everyone rather wants their peace and space instead settling close to each other, and i believe most people do not exactly enjoy traveling for hours to get the stuff they would enjoy to have. While people on the other side are willing to spend money on items, they are not willing to spend like 4 hours or more waiting for them. So while people are willing to spend, and others willing to grind up the skills, these two have not much chance to make a business, except if mailing would work better. As i see it, there would be ALOT more activity , and alot more spending on the mailing, and alot more money converted (= more income to Rolf) if mailing would be made easier again. My suggestion would be, to just allow everything to be mailed that can be picked up to inventory. Simple as that. Also, that combined items no matter how many pieces they consist of, count as 1 item cost wise. Since for lumps and ropes and such small stuff it might really not make sense to mail them separately, but would be lucrative (and thus done more frequently) if they could be sent as bulk for less expense. I was also thinking if it might make sense to price relative to the cod value. But that might just make other market aspects that currently work, difficult then. So that might be rather counter productive. I would suggest though, no more need to box, wrap or any the like. It is just confusing. For sending bulk lumps it might still be interesting but it should not be a requirement to wrap, let's say a shovel, just to mail it. But while we are at it, please allow wrapping for ALL items. It just makes no sense to me why i could not give a cordage rope wrapped as a gift for example. Or a barrel. I would have given so many things as gifts already if they could be wrapped. I also like the idea of knowing who sent an item, and to get a message when something arrives instead having to camp the mailbox. The message upon arrival is a minor thing though, since people can as well tell me how long the mailing will approximately take so that i do not need to wait at the box all the time. The sending option of ALL items to ALL (at least freedom isles) servers and at resonable prices would be highest on my priority list. The freedom isles are in general more crafting oriented, so it would really increase the game fun if, lets say, you need a high coc shovel or rake and could buy it from someone on another server and it could be mailed easily. Or for example selling wine... i tried to sell some but paying 1.10 s to same server person for a barrel in mail cost looks still a bit steep to me. I am not saying mailing in general is too expensive, but in some cases it would really be good to have lower prices for bulk sending. Or lower expenses for some type items like it was done with papyrus. Not sure how much that is used anyways, since it is relatively hard to obtain. Just a few more use cases. There are a few in the game who have high mining skills. And another few with high smithing skills. One enjoys mining and would hate to smith, the other enjoys smithing and hates mining. Would be so much nicer if one can send 90 ql lumps in a bunch, at low expense, and the smith sends in return new weapons at high ql which he could usually not produce without appropriate iron supplies. Or how about a new person who just starts out, and needs an assortment of seeds, or a rope, or a fishing pole. One older player could simply mail them a barrel full of seeds to get started instead forcing the new player to botanize for hours and get killed a few times in the process, and then rage quits because of that. Now you might argue "could join a town" but seriously, who doesnt know the issue of new people being restricted on almost everything if new to a town, and the town leader to have the problem of fitting the new person in somehow, just to see them quit anyways after a short time. Some are just not interested in town life at all. Maybe the modern times, but playing on your own at your own rules, and just have the others on chat for company or trade, might work better for most. So please make improvements to mailing. It had been working nice before the recent changes with the wrapping and sending limitations. Not sure who even asked for the limitations and why. As said, that local market thing does not work out anyways, and got even more of a problem with the addition of servers and more distance between people. And forcing people into it would not even work if mailing was abolished in total. Each should have the option to specialize in what they like best. More fun that way. I see only good things to come from getting it back to where it was and then add some more improvements as suggested. Thanks!

The axe is in the weapons rack in "Nordliche Schutzhutte". It's ql 73 though. I can't find the sword in the database. The anvil is on the ground in "Storage" The Excalibur sword had the "mailed" flag. I removed it so it should be responsive again next restart. There are apparently a few items that have some weird data because of old database rollbacks, or mailing and transfer bugs that are fixed now. It seems that transferring or mailing these to another server may fix the issue or cause the error to occur. New items should not be subject to this. If those disappear it's usually to decay. Also the Epic servers should see far less of these situations since the most recent database rollback occurred in the Freedom cluster. Note that these occurrances are still very rare given that we have millions of items so most of you will never ever encounter a bugged item.

Some of the younger players who need them the most, have trouble killing guards. That's why they need guards to run to in the first place. Heck they have problems enough just with bears and spiders. I end up needing to go through my mines looking for guards to kill, every day as soon as I log in. It gets very old very fast and if its broken, it would be nice just to get it fixed. If they can go into a mine on their own then they should be able to come out of a mine on their own. I have a hard time thinking that is something super tricky to just fix. Maybe I am wrong and it's something devs cannot figure out. They seem fine at figuring out "fixes" for things like deed lamps, so I assumed fixing obvious bugs before the launch of Wurm 1.0 was somehow a priority.

The money (5€) Rolf is charging this game per month is ridiculously cheap. For this amount of money you get a 24/7 ingame service of (voluntary) GM, CM and CA. Then there is lag Rolf and the rest of the team are not responsible and Wossoo, in his position as a voluntary PR manager, takes the time to explain the situation to the community. I'm really wondering when you guys appreciate all the work and stop complaining about everything.
