    Everyone is invited to a public slaying on Release this coming Saturday, 10-19-19, starting at 3 p.m. Central US time (GMT -5). Slaying the Forest Giant will give the title "Giantslayer". When slain, every premium player in local will receive blood. Mixing Forest Giant blood with source salt will create a potion of Woodcutting. Loot will be rolled among all participating slayers that are listed on the Niarja Slayer's list. (To be fair to all, please limit one roll per real person, not per avatar. Attempting to use more than one avatar per person to roll more than once may result in disqualification.) LOCATION: J12 ingame map / Y21 X15 community map - West of Spawn Lake in the desert.     I had a half-baked idea watching these videos, it might have scratched that itch Bob has. The "Shipwrecked" optional new player tutorial: You are the survivor of a shipwreck. You wash up on a tiny little untouched island. Using the much improved tutorial system we have already our new player is guided through the usual wurm stuff, but also, opening a tunnel, building a forge, building a small 2x2 wooden shack, building an oven, making a well, learning to cook something vaguely nutritious etc. Finally you guide them through building a rowboat, after which the tutorial ends when they sail from the island back to "civilisation" - the freedom servers.

    A bit more information, since it seems necessary. It was a rare loom, it was Finndar's deed. What many don't know is I have become good friends with him, and I am still hoping he comes back. I have been gathering as much of his good stuff as possible to secure it in hopes he does. His LMC, tool chests, and some other stuff I know he valued are all secured. They will be stored in a new, high quality building on his old deed site (right next to mine). These are not items I would sell. And, lastly, I already have a rare loom.

    Loved the tutorials, really brings to life the new player experience. The only other thing Id say is REPAIR REPAIR REPAIR, seeing that 73 dmg on his pick and still mining with it frustrated me

    Hi again Devs and all others ~ Here I am AGAIN, pleading for flower/garden overhaul, or just additions. I would love to be able to get flower seeds. Would also like better flower tiles, more like actual garden tiles, where trees cannot plant themselves. Maybe Sunflower tiles, to make fields of sunflowers, that must be planted, so they don't just plant themselves all over Wurm. It would also be great to have better bushes, like rose bushes that have roses on them, or rose trellis that has roses on them. Please don't tell me that we have them, .. what we have are red dots. Window boxes, garden arches, flower edges without the ugly wooden boxes. Might even help if we could paint the ugly boxes, or the flower pots. Better and longer lasting flowering trees. How about bougainvillea vines, morning glory vines. Wall ivy, so many many things you could do. It can be a whole NEW SKILL LINE, like you did with archaeology, only this would be cool and useful. Next, stained glass, and leaded glass. You know they had that in Medieval times. We could fill in the small slot windows, or the stone arches, that now are just open spaces, could be color!!!! or maybe just plain glass panes. .. again NEW SKILL LINE .. glass making. Then the last thing, I know nothing about this stuff, but .. how hard could it be to make it so you can place a ceiling lamp. I have been in this game for more than 6 years now, (granted my skill level doesn't look like it), I have NO interest in pvp, and seldom fight anything more than a troll or lava fiend because it does not interest me. I want to keep making my Wurm world, but there is just so much I can do with the rather masculine oriented décor, clothing, and floral options available in Wurm. So, okay that's about it for this month's whining and complaining, it is very likely I will be back sometime next month saying pretty much the same things.     Vultures doesn't give a crap about the game, they just want to earn few silvers and turn it into money so they profit. Gone are the days of even some gentleman's code. "Deed it or lose it" mentality doesn't go very far anymore.. i mean.. who benefits if a player quits the game? There is no new players on sight, so you may rob a few players and make them quit the game, but there wont be others to rob soon. GG and WP is all i can say.

    its pretty easy to make statements like that when you dont pvp but having a medieval glue factory is pretty much required coz walking sucks, and is even encouraged by mechanics even before the breed change, ratio for animals on deed is 5 in pvp compared to pve's 15 so you can have 3x the horses in your glue factory

    As the leader of the most active deed since day 1, experienced burnout and seen alot of active great villagers (like OP, we miss you nygen ) quit i can say this about Jackal Pros - Mystery, fun figuring out the map - New challenge, somewhat new content alot of it recycled in a good way - Opportunity to play with new people who you wouldnt normally play with Suggestions - The terrain just f'n sucks, it's tedious, its not fun. Wetas constantly get hung up when trying to fight at beacons, tone down the steepness by 10% atleast - Skill transfer f'n sucks. If you're going to make it slow skill gain, atleast make it rewarding, or else give us challenge server skillgain at like 6x or something. People don't want to grind if the skill transfer sucks. We'd rather have fast skill gain and no transfer. But think about it, if you gave people a 1:1 skill transfer from Jackal back to Freedom, EVERYONE would be playing on Jackal, and thats what you want. Freedom will become the "dumpster" league like Standard in PoE, Which is fine, because everyone loves playing the new content anyway. For those of you freedomers who grinded to 95-100 (myself included), good for you, but know if you want your game to succeed, freedom ain't gunna cut it for everyone else in the world and help the game succeed. - 400-500'ish Jackal Beacons are repetitive and boring with this many people burning out. Do something drastic to revitalize the server, seriously. Get these people back. Increase skill gain to freedom? If there's real incentive like bonus skill gain there, people will want to move from freedom to jackal to grind. That's GOOD. - This whole - "Non sb, no CoC" skill gain relation is F'N STUPID. WE WORKED HARD FOR THOSE BONUSES, Why take them away from us?! You want to make people mad or make them feel rewarded and keep giving you money? Seriously you guys shoot yourselves in the foot ALOT. Don't give me the "If you want skill just grind on freedom" crap, FREEDOM IS BORING AND DYING, THAT'S WHY YOU MADE JACKAL. Alot of people are resubbing after not playing for years because they found no point in grinding on freedom anymore. Don't ruin your own efforts to revitalize a game by some ill-conceived rules. - Make WS and channeling skills faster, it's too much of a grind to decent weapons to entice people. WS Gains are SLOWER on Jackal (wtf?) Jackal is an opportunity to actually make WURM great, where you release meaningful seasonal content patches. This was a good start, dont scrap the idea just fix and improve. Alot of us are really enjoying working together on a goal that feels more then just "minecraft freedom wurm" -- EDIT OMG IM A GENIUS. Memory Stone - 1000 Jackal Points - Copy any 1 skill from Jackal to Freedom at a 1:1 skill ratio. Body Stone - 2000 Jackal Points - Copy all gains to body stats at a 1:1 ratio Mind Stone - 2000 Jackal Points - Copy all gains to Mind stats at a 1:1 ratio Soul Stone - 2000 Jackal Ponts - Copy all gains to Soul stats at a 1:1 ratio

    So, as a project, I have decided to make a trailer for one of my favourite games, specifically Wurm Online (Surprise surprise!). I am not sure if I have the skills or determination to do it, or if it's even possible, BUT as with most things I do for no particular reason, I am going to try and do it anyway. I have zero experience with editing, so I'll be learning as I go, but I do have some ideas. Then I thought it would be a good idea to get some more ideas form some of you, since I don't have an incredible imagination like some people I have seen around here, and make this a somewhat community-sourced project. Then I could add them to a list and start recording them once I have enough ideas. The background music will be the old "Wurm is Waiting" song by 21st Century Blues; I think it sounds really cool and has a nice beat that I can do transitions with or something. Cheers! List of Ideas: - An EPIC 32 second clip of the player approaching an EPIC building of EPIC proportions for that start bit. Was thinking Stronghold of New Hope on Elevation since I am already there and It will probably be one of the first and easiest things to film. - I think that the parts where it comes up with the text "Wurm is waiting" in this ancient trailer I came across is noice. If you listen to these parts of the song, you'll get why these parts of the video.     To be frank; a failed experiment. Yes, item skins are nice, but for those of us with actual ambition in the real world, the time investment to obtain such items is just not worth the effort. Combined with the confirmed inferior skillgain rate, it had nothing to offer. In essence, it was very much "all or nothing", with too much weight upon "nothing" for myself, and many others, to bother.

    After months of working on making this the best I can, I've compiled my own notes on mission structures around Release and put them all into one handy map. It's finally at a stage where I'm happy to publicly share it. There are still a few noted on the map which are unconfirmed exact locations, but I have placed them as near as I remember them being and am in the process of visiting each of these sites (these particular ones have a purple marker). If anyone has any they would like to add to the map, or update the location of an existing marker please send me a PM here on the forum or in game (same username), or post in this thread and include any information you think may be helpful for people locating it! Also accepting structures which are currently on deed, in the event that the deed disbands and they become available for missions.     It's a temporary Halloween skin, we do it often with different creatures. We spent a while updating the zombie texture and decided it would be fun to throw it in. I apologise if this has upset you, I assure you it's not permanent and will be gone after Halloween.

    We'll make sure that the rules are very clear when the time comes, there's no need to fear repercussions on a not yet prepared ruleset. That's quite clear already in the SDA (2.5) - the Steam version cannot use any functionality of the current Wurm shop.

    See the thing is wurm was originally going to be pvp only but thanks to a big group of players in its early days this was made to be a pve area first then pvp and pve separate but high combat is still a must for pvp to survive(dont want others to be stronger then you) as for pve 95+ fighting 90+ weapon skill ql 90 drake and you can take down a troll at no stam without running to low health add in 60+ body strength and you wont even reach 70% health(without lt) sure its not a "must have or else i get 1 shot" but its a nice have to have high As for goals i agree with you partly i wish there where some goals(next to journal) like community getting together or solo goals that take a long time to do require a lot of effort and time and mats but again adding in just a few of those will make people grind to them and then complain about wanting more For me currently my current plans are redesign my deed, finish making my 5 big farm lands, create my 2nd storage deed, create my off deed animal pen area, wall off my entire mountain range with 2 sets of walls(1 side rendered tall wall other side hedge with a 2 wide road in between), hollow out the mountain range and setup wurms first junk yard where people can drop stuff off they dont need anymore be it mission items or furniture or what ever else and il store it in a big big giant walled off area away from everyone so that it wont lag anyone Id say those self created goals will keep me busy for atleast 3-4 more years if even that As for travel to rifts have summon soul be able to teleport with your horse that you are leading(1 horse only and lead only not ride and give warning on riding) and then a return soul spell afterwards this will make it so that priests can be useful to summon people from coast lines back and forth to rifts and their boats(costing 100 favor both spells as it does now) would make you only have to travel to nearest coast line

    In the new graphics update, all the old legacy horse skins (and other animals) look normal. However all the horse skins I did, now look like optimized GIFs with only a few colors in the palette.

    Sleep bonus hard cap is at 10h. The journal cap refers to the bonus you can gain yourself, the soft cap, which is at 5h by default.

    It's not me or Devil...like how that person had to pick a similar name... I played Wurm since 2013 sure there is alot that has changed and that will change and alot that could be improved and hopefully will be improved but I don't get that huge post...it don't matter what year you were born (no offense) or whoever else was born...there are still the odd players who has been here since 10 year's + that this game exist and I'm not going on Steam once it's out there... I play while I work it gives me something to do between call's and when it's down it sucks because I don't know what to do until the game is back up...I'll be here until the game dies more than likely because I can't see me stop playing anytime soon!!!

    I was actually thinking about something like this using small village tokens, high difficulty action with a capped ql result. Didn't think much more beyond this and haven't written anything up than a few scribbles on my palm "make tokens make metals" but my thinking was requiring it as the (or a) ingredient used to change the metal type, high difficulty action with restoration (or metallurgy) skill and token ql impacting resulting ql of the item. You'd want to avoid gaming of creating instant high ql moonmetal stuff, could be far more difficult or require an item being in the same "category" (base metal, alloy, moonmetal).

    i think it's great, for too long wurm has been a cpu intensive game. I did some proper tests when i last upgraded. 750ti to 1060gtx barely touched my fps (minor bottleneck) but when i upgraded the CPU, massive improvement in performance. But now, the GPU is getting utilised as much as the cpu. i love it technically and aesthetically. A fresh installation of wurm doesn't have to have everything turned up (As long as that VBO setting is set to core by default, there's been many of us that had to switch it from extension manually) The impact of HBAO on your fps depends greatly on your system configuration. (to be fair i need to do testing) What is your system spec and can you honestly account that you are comparing it with the same spec in other games. Doesn't wurm use OpenGL rather than DirectX? The framerate tax will inevitably vary if so. I believe HBAO is native to directX, any implementation of it in OpenGL likely involves transitions that are beyond my understanding.

    dat stuff there... somebody go suggest having gm/dev/staff-chosen-target-person to show up and let the public know which topics have been considered or planned, or in process to get in the game.. maybe quarter goals announced if anything is already planned? Else we're just wasting breath in the suggestions.. well not really.. but it's some plus to know that something is on it's path to get into the game.. or have no chance at all.. lets people have hope.. or rethink their suggestion.. possibly improve it.. to make it more appetizing dev bait.. for future content/fix. --edit As for that... yyeeaa.. does make sense to fix things that annoy customers.. rather than shut them.. leaves positive.. everything pretty much.. correct me if I'm wrong.. Whenever a bad impression have been made.. there's a field for improvement.. and since we're in the entertainment section.. it makes so much sense to keep people happy, right.

    You have the causality completely reversed. Seperate servers are desired for Steam because they want to offer a fresh start on this platform, not vice versa. Path of Exile is a good example of a game that is steam-integrated but uses its own server infrastructure that is still reachable from their standalone client, your proposal that Steam would demand new and exclusive servers is not only unfounded but has demonstrable precedents that contradict the existence of this practice. They're not offering a non-steam client that would connect to these servers because it's "not for the existing players", which was stated quite explicitly by Retrograde. Sure, veterans will go over anyway using Steam, but that's not the devs intention, so they don't cater to it by allowing the standalone client to connect (yet). It's pretty simple. Ineffective, as you correctly point out as we can already see people cashing out in preparation, but as out of touch their proceeding is (it usually is these days), it's pretty straightforward and doesn't warrant the wild conspiracy theories you throw around.

    What caused it is usually done when it comes back up. Admin grabs the logs of the crash and we identify the cause. Ive let both server admins know, hopefully we can get it up and running shortly

    [14:21:36] Weapon smithing increased by 0.0004 to 51.2357 no CoC on the tool for an example.. not SB either.. but those numbers are super low... i could see tick sizes that small at maybe 65-70 skill but at 51?!... please fix! and before ya'll are like "WS has always been slow and thats the way it is" posts, there's something about jackal's timers that make WS gains even slower on this server.

Highway Rules: A ) You may not intentionally disable an active highway connection by removing the catseyes without rerouting or replacing them promptly . 1> Deeds retain the right to disconnect from the highway system by removal of their waystone and any deactivated catseyes on their deed and perimeter. B ) You may not intentionally block an active highway with locked structures. (This is known to cause problems for the Wagoner system.)     I agree, lots of super leveled vet accounts that should have died off when the original owner left the game but no... they were sold and now there are too many over-leveled accounts and their current owners are the ones opposing this steam thing now.

    Oh, yes, I went to visit Eleraan, and I had a really nice time with him! I can recommend a visit to his fine Brewery, his destilled drinks were also of excellent quality! Easy access from sea also.

    No, I don't think you're alone in not following, because I get the feeling a few others are replying to other things than what I've actually said. Not really sure how to explain things more clearly though. Yes, actually the numbers are more like ~3.43, so slightly less, but anyway. And, yes, that is true, WU doesn't cost anything in maintenance of servers and such things. Server hosts are paying for all upkeep of WU, and we are generating all income CC are making from WU at no cost at all (for CC that is, it does cost the hosts quite a bit of course). Having a game on Steam is a one time cost of $100. If there were no privately funded servers, there would be no income from WU, because players would have nowhere to go, and they would stop buying the game. But of course, there will always be WU servers running as long as the game exists on Steam, just look at the server list, there are more servers than players running - I counted to about 200 active on the server list at the time of writing. CC couldn't possibly scale up to that if there suddenly would be a rush of hundreds of thousands of players, not that it's very likely the way it looks now, but hey: "In the first week of Conan Exiles's early access release on Steam, it sold over 320,000 copies." (Wikipedia). Who knows when there will be a rush of players with a bit of advertisement and some graphical makeup. Btw, guess what, if WU sold 320,000 copies, that would be the same amount of income that CC would make from 9,333 premium accounts for ten years - and Conan Exiles did that in one week, not ten years, one week. How many premium accounts are currently paying for WO? Would be interesting to know. And will they still be paying for premium in ten years, every month, since their hearts are staying with WO 100%? Wouldn't make much difference, companies have to keep investing in their products or they will lose customers. The only real difference is that instead of selling the game to the same customers every month over and over, making a smaller number of players pay a vastly larger amount of money, with WU 3.5 times fewer sales have to be made and to new players all the time. So, the question is, is there a limited amount of players on the market? No, not really, Conan Exiles again sold one million copies in the first month. Funcom though is a company the market can trust to keep their promises, they have a long range of long lasting games. A company that just take the money and leave to other games, well, it won't keep the trust of the customers for long. One million copies in one month, that's 40 million euro, it should last a bit of time I think. Besides, they have a business model that makes old player keep paying for the game, by releasing expansions. WU could do that I'm sure, if there were expansions worth paying for of course. Maybe it's just me, but I can't follow what you are trying to say.
