Don't hold your breathe. Wurm does its own thing. As does Rolf. Which explains our love hate relationship with him ;)

No breath holding here :)

Still can not log in even though Wurm Tools say GV is back up.

I think I'll go an curl up with a good book.

Books do not need rebooting, just Cheezies, crackers, some sliced cheese and a cup of Strawberry Soya.

See you all tomorrow. Cheers!

^^ I agree with this ^^

Only takes 30 seconds to do.

So you really need a GM to post something we already all know, that the servers are Down or Can't be connected to ( could be a network problem with the host or a server issue but a GM wouldn't know which ), and that we need to wait for Rolf to find out what the problem is and fix it , and as it's still only 6am in Sweden, it could be a while before it gets back up again ?

Not really sure how that would actually change anything tbh, people would still be on here posting the same things in the thread they already have done.

At the end of the day, i always assume that if there is no info when the servers drop it means that Rolf doesn't yet know what caused it / is still trying to get it fixed.

As i've already said, yes its frustrating , yes it could be better, but at the end of the day any company has to work within a budget and being an indie MMO this game doesn't have tons of money , and Rolf himself has even said in the latest Q & A it only makes a tiny profit because everything else goes back into the business which is letting him slowly increase his Staff size.

I see the same comments over and over again... I paid for this, I paid for that... Yes but you weren't FORCED to pay it were you?

In Wurm you don't HAVE to pay to play the game, you chose to pay to get further benefits of the game. I understand the issues you have with the fact of paying to play it and losing things... I know how you feel.

I pay to play wurm too... I have lost over 30+ horses *not all in one go* on Wurm through crashes, bugs and grieving but I haven't gone on an all out rampage against the staff for it. I just accepted it, went off to look for my horses if they were still alive and did what I could to move on. Wurm is about surviving... just think of it as if it were a real life tragedy and when we can finally log back on do what you can to get back on track.

I for one am on Celebration and I will personally offer anyone out there that is missing a horse (don't all come running) a horse or 2 when the server comes back up. Anything you need help with all you got to do is ask. I will even go hunting for your horse if it helps.

On another note... I GM'd a game years ago that had a server issue with 1 guy working on it... took him a long time to fix because it was a hardware issue... not only that but I tried to help calm 10k people alone and the moment I posted anything I was swamped with hate mail and "fix this now or else" threats. No wonder GM's don't want to post updates in these situations lol.

Thought i'd put up my thoughts. Besides i'd rather Rolf fix the issue than have to waste time posting what the issue is :)

You act like they want Rolf to post, there are a lot of people who don't have the keys but who do have mod privs here and could post.

That aside, Rolf gets no slack for not having a system in place now that its a released game.

Please do tell me what info a Forum Mod or even a GM could give you that we do NOT already know ? Considering they will not even have any way of knowing if it is a Server problem or a Host problem i hardly see how Forum Mod A or GM B posting to say " It is Down - ETA = when Rolf manages to fix it " makes a blind bit of difference.

Also, if it's a coding problem , how exactly would a 24/7 server techinician get it working again ? Server would still be down and broken needing Rolf to do it.

Rolf is very cautious about giving access to his server code because he has already been there and been bitten for doing it afaik, and as it is his sole source of income i do not blame him for not rushing into doing it again / giving out that access.

No one forces me to live where I do but I still expect to have a roof every day. And I don't rage about my losses, but I am allowed to have an issue with their recurrence. Anyone who knows me on Deli knows I'm quick to offer horses, supplies and aid to anyone I can, regardless of how they incurred their losses. And I love that we have a community like that in Wurm. At the end of the day, there is more I enjoy about Wurm than the things that frustrate me, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be fixed, or that I lose my right to voice my displeasure.

I don't think people should be attacking, berating or throwing about ultimatums at staff, but I can't really bring myself to shrug and skip away merrily each time it happens.

It doesn't matter if Rolf posts or not. How are the GM's going to know what is wrong with the server? Think about it a little.

What if the GM's don't have the access to see the server issues? They can notify Rolf sure but what are they going to post? "Hey guys there's an issue with the server's, hang in there"... We already know that else we wouldn't be on this post.

For them to tell you the issue Rolf would have to log on... tell them what the issue is and how long it may take to fix and then they would post that. Instead he could just not waste his time telling them the issue and how long it's going to take, and he could fix the issue and then later post up what it was with hopefully an apology for the inconvenience.

Just another post out there to those that forget that Rolf is the only one that can deal with the issue and possibly 2 others.

I understand what you mean. I'm generally speaking about those that appear to be raging about it. Trust me I am disappointed at the moment to that I cannot log on and play with my friends but there's not a lot I can do about it. I'm not saying they shouldn't be fixed, I am saying that it takes time to fix issues.

For all we know the server could have exploded and they are in the process of putting out a fire... that's a bit extreme ofc but who knows eh? But if that was the case, they'd have to buy a new server etc. I doubt that is the case but you know, there is no instafix... i'm sure everyone wishes there was :)

No doubt it'll be fixed in due time, but whatever the case it's going to take time.

As I said before people are paying for this. Yes by choice but they are still paying so wether he has 3 or 300 staff he chose to sell the product and should make it work right. Yes we do know the server is down but whats to say they are working on it? Thats what people want to hear. As i said earlier it isnt hard to make a automated reply just showing they are aware of the problem. Wouldnt take them 3 minutes to push a button to send it

Even just a post say "Yes we know its down, we are unsure why and we are looking into it Thank you"

Would let everyone know HEY its being taken care of. For all we know, no ones looking into fixing the issue at hand.

Thats why every where you work at tells you, communication is key.

Unfortunately things happen. All we can do is wait for it to come back up. It sucks but there's really nothing we can do so take a deep breath and relax.

Damaje, many CA's have posted in this thread... and if you look on the home page and hover over the GM names.... you will probably see that one of them has been watching this thread... That in itself confirms they are aware of the issue. Let them do their job, they don't need to post saying "we are aware of the problem, it'll be fixed in god knows when"... Let the post be made after the fix. I don't know how it works here at all but I do know that every game has it's rules for it's staff.

And you're wrong about 1 thing. Wurm is not sold as a product. Wurm is completely 100% free to play. Premium membership and Silver is the product. If you went out and bought the game from a shop and are expected to pay 14e every month to be able to play... then yes they'd need a staff to keep it running for as long as physically possible.

Reyaa they say the game is free to play but its not. Its free to play to skill 20. Think about what your saying is "free to play". WoW is free to play to a certain level as with most other games. It doesnt matter if its free to play with option to pay. I did pay and there are no wild horses so i did pay for those and when i lose what i payed for it upsets me as it does others. If it does not bother you im glad for you but It angers me.

Would say that I know a few MMOs that whatever they have or not have 24/7 support.. they took hours to bring the server back up. Also the more successful minecraft also unable to quickly fix theirs login server when it is down..

Who are we to assume it is something on the devs' end that gone wrong? Sometimes it could be ISP.. or the server hosting.. or rats..

Sorry to hear about the possible deaths and horses lost.. I would grief a LOT upon my 5 speed almost 10s worth in equip horse if it gone lost... Wurm is not the only game I know I will die if server down while I'm in middle of fight though >.< ..

Maybe we can all instead gather in less anger and vote up suggestion for no horses unhitch on dc/server down. Not sure there is a way to fix the die when disconnect in middle of fight cause it is there to prevent pvp and pve abuses.

Damaje it's free to play. I could play this game the whole time... with nothing but 20 skill if I wanted to. With maxed skills of 20... i could then go and dig tons of dirt for people and sell them... make mortar and bricks and sell them... heck I could make plenty of silver in game by doing jobs for other players and i wouldn't have had to give my debit card details. I know players that have done this and I know 1 that did this and actually made real money from it. So At the end of the day, it's still 100% f2p with the optional choice of premium with added benefits.

You lost 1 horse you payed for. I had a time when I was grieved badly on Cele... where a fence bug caused all horses to escape wooden fences. I wasn't able to log on then to rescue them but 3 people I trusted did... when I went to get my 25 paid for horses back they locked me in their pen, killed all 25 horses and proceeded to post it all over the chat. I lost about 10 - 15s in 10 mins. If it wasn't for our outstanding community giving me horses to start over, i'd be done for,

If you lose your horse, I will give you a pair of horses that you can breed free of charge. And they'll be good ones aswell.

They could at least take some of the money we've paid and have a generic message sent to forums saying something like "opps got a virus for watching granny dolphin porn we are working on the issue"

im not asking for perfect game with perfect devs just show a little interest in keeping paying customers

I agree completely. Yesterday I paid for 7 months premium and bought my first deed. Now this:(

Been playing since December and it seems to be a regular thing on Wurm. Everytime I see the thread title about how Wurm can get & keep new players I'm tempted to post that they need to do something about the connection issues, servers down & game crashes. Forget adding new things until after the coding & server issues are fixed.

Also, like on other indie games, there will always be old timers who praise the Devs no matter what and pounce on anyone who complains about the game. We are paying customers and this is a business.

To be honest it's a free trial. You must pay to unlock full use of the game. And while others may fund their accounts with labor, I don't want a game to be my second job.
