Try right-clicking the "Play!"-button, select "Save target as...", download the file to your desktop and run it from there?

TheFlash has kindly let me take control of his pc.

Something on his network is preventing him from accessing the JNLP URL's.

Have reinstalled his JAVA which was riddled with errors and it's now correctly reporting that it cannot find the URL's specified, also several other URL's I have accessed on his PC that are refusing to load and updates that cannot access update servers, including JAVA's update servers.

Router issues - FIXED!

TheFlash has kindly let me take control of his pc.

What was he thinking?! :P

My guess is that specifically JNLP files are blocked, probably because they can be used maliciously.

Apologies, the comment was meant to be pushy because likewise I've known Mishia for quite a while, was only a joke. Words on the internet don't always convey that too well :L

@DoctorChese - Just... lol.

@CavMember

Originally Flash's issue was his router, however since then new JAVA issues have arrived, maybe this will help as it did for Flash;

Have you checked your IE (internet explorer) settings - Open IE > Open the menu 'file' > Look for 'work offline', is this checked? Uncheck it.

If IE cannot connect to the internet (because it's been told not to due to user/mallicious software etc) then JAVA often does not connect either, JAVA uses some of the Internet Explorer settings (by default) - work offline is one of these.

Additionally IE proxy settings can effect JAVA too -

IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings > Direct Connect.

OR

Control Panel > JAVA > Network Settings > select Direct Connect.

By default JAVA console uses browser settings, but you can tell it to ignore the browser settings with the above line, play around with it.

Is there any software on your system (anti-virus/firewall) that is preventing JAVA from connecting to the internet?

You can confirm if JAVA can connect or not by downloading an 'online JAVA installation' (if you suspect JAVA is corrupt/broken download the 'Offline JAVA installation' from JAVA's website) and trying to run it, if it hangs on 'downloading' and throws an error it most likely cannot connect to the internet (there's prolly an easier way to test this, but I wouldn't know).

I'm not exactly a super-tech. But I hope this helps a bit. ^^;
