A Thank-You Thread

Recommended Posts

I've had my highs and lows and in Wurm.

But what I can say about Wurm is there was more highs, than lows.

I've met some truely amazing and generous people in my years of Wurm and it wasn't always about money, sometimes it was just their time they gave me...or friendship.

I'd love to post some of those experience but the fact is there was so many, I'd be hard pressed to decide which to post. Also, sadly, I have forgotten some names over the years, but I can say I never forgot the good turn they did for me.

On this forum there can be a lot of trolling, bad feelings, arguement...but this thread is going to be different.

Here is where you can thank someone. You dont have to be fancy, just sincere.

Maybe they saved you from a wolf or gave you your first village or maybe they have always had your back, so go ahead and post, tell them they mattered.

I would ask the Forum Mod's NOT to close to this thread and allow it to continue to be used.

Great Idea. I want to thank Vonwolf who rescued me when I was a complete beginner, had nowhere to go and was virtually (no pun intended) starving and may have even given up on Wurm. Von supplied me with tools and equipment with quality way higher than I could ever hope to make and made me feel useful. He took me around the area ,enthused me, introduced me to different skills and other players. I was hooked and have recently celebrated a year on Wurm. Sadly, Von failed to log on one day and has never returned. I will never forget the name.

Good luck to you both.

As an innocent little newblood, two awesome dudes by the names of Shidageki and Santropez took me in and taught me everything I needed to know to get up off the ground in Wurm. I thank them for this.

Eventually I moved on to greener pastures, and since then it's been Jesslynn who took me in and looked after me whenever I needed it. We might not have always been the best of pals, but when push comes to shove she's always there for me, and I'm grateful.

Thanks to KaiH and Battlepants for being inspirations, and being exemplars of everything a community should consist of.

In more modern times, it's been the boys and I: Orago, Xyonado, Fireslayr, Feralshadow, and all the other cool people who've come through Riften, thanks for all being solid, reliable peeps.

And finally, those who've come and gone. Mirrormatch, Inbunn, Xhi and Jotz (most recent owner). Thanks for the memories!

I'm going to have to thank PromisedOne; when I was first starting out I was just a noob like any other; I had a few friends we started to build a home; after a week they quit, and I still wanted to play, but I was alone. PO was hiring people in freedom, So I was like what the hay I will give it a shot. Soon after I started to work at ETP, PO helped me get my first premium time. A few weeks later I was in control of FedExodus doing delivers. A few months after that, I was helping PO run the place, and we had some really lazy people that wanted cash for doing nothing come through, haha, but I also made some great friends. Rhodes, Tpikol, Mazie, Jacob, dovvy, BobmcKnob, Makarus and others I might not remember right now. If I never joined ETP I wouldn't have met all these great people, and I would have to say I had some pretty interesting experiences in ETP. One in particular I will never forget. I was making a deliver in my corbita to Lake Serpentine. After pushing over several land bridges getting to Shrieking Eel Lagoon; I find that the canal is to shallow, I was thinking of turning back; but I decided to push my boat over the land. Here is my screenshots of me getting into Serpentine: http://imgur.com/a/oeQ96 Probably took me 5 hours to get in and about 3 hours or so to get out; wish I took some screenshots getting out as well, haha. I soon stopped playing in the spring; but I decided to start playing again about a week ago. It was sad to see ETP in ruins, PO gone once more, but I had a great time in ETP; I am going to start up my own trading post in Celebration, hopefully some noob that joins will have fun experiences like I did, only time will tell.

For a long time, I wanted nothing to do with Wurm PvP. Now admittedly I still don’t, but there was a brief period when I dipped my toe into the water, thanks to the persuasion, help, and leadership of one person.

He got me straight into a great village, helped me to get involved in stuff that was going on, and ensured that I didn’t get lost when stumbling about in the dark (without having adjusted my gamma) in a war zone – all that while doing a full-time job as the primary leader, raid organiser, and killer of the kingdom.

I didn’t get to actually PvP a single enemy but I did participate in a night of tower bashing and general mayhem that took us from the plains where HoM now is all the way to the ‘Rolf Tower’ at Gold Coast. It was terrific fun, and it really felt like I was taking part in the ‘real’ history of Wurm and doing stuff that would change the game – very exciting!

In the end, it wasn’t really the play style (or hours) for me, but I loved doing it for a little while, I learnt a huge amount about certain aspects of the game, and it gave me the confidence to later play of Epic (where I ended up having a very similar amount/type of PvP)

So thanks, PTO/Friend/Doctorchaos – a living legend and a cool guy.

Welp my first big thank you goes to Rudie. I first met Rudie when he joined my first and very noobie village on JK-H called Halcyon.

Since that time i've had Rudie to call as a friend playing on JK-H and on Wild. He's been around for as long as I can remember in some way or another (Going back to when I played G1 and alittle of beta!) He and Wintersoltice were a constantly a....questionable influence ;) on me whenever I lived in RD and ever since I first lived in RD i've always considered myself a member no matter what village i've moved on to. (A attitude that i've always felt went both ways!)

For the past 5years or more I've played, fought and crafted with Rudie. We've killed champions, raided the unraidable and become [battlemaster] and [Warlord] respectively. (His experience and guidance has been crucial to my achievement) At every turn Rudie has always had my back along with many other players and friends along the way. He's always looked out for me in PvP, given me weapons and armor when it's needed. He's even died attempting to save my sorry butt and almost died afew more. He's among afew privileged Wurmians that I trust fully in a fight and would gladly take up arms with at a moments notice.

Even when he retired from PvP to Deli then Cele then Indie, I've always counted him as one of my best and closest friends in Wurm. Weither it's been donating copious amounts of steel to help me grind platesmithing, giving me a deed to live in when my own disbanded or simply letting me harass him about something or other on vent. He's been there.

Whilst there are many Wurmians I can and should thank for my time in Wurm and their help i've chosen to thank rudie in this post because unfortunately after many years he's finally selling his accounts and giving up Wurm (If that's indeed possible) And whilst I know I'll still keep in contact with him long after he leaves I just would like him to know how much i've appreciated his friendship, help, advice and free items!

THANK YOU RUDIE!!!

Once upon a time, a boy and a girl were very much in love, but they lived so very far apart that a lot of the time they didn’t see each other.

Now, when they were going out somewhere, the boy (just like so many boys do, I’m sure) had to wait while the girl put on her accessories, and changed her coat, and looked for her phone. But sometimes he also had to wait for her to repair a fence or rake a field in some weird-looking online game she played. He wasn’t much on online games, but being a dutiful lad he thought he would have a look at this one, since she was so keen on it…

Over the next year, Wurm played an important role in their relationship. Hundreds of miles apart, they could still have adventures together, could still have a ‘real’ shared experience. He soon found that he really liked the game and got himself a little deed a few minutes’ walk from hers, and she later found that her advice on his first day, “if you’ve got nothing else to do you could try something that doesn’t need tools, like Tracking†was fateful indeed. One dark night on JKH he found her and bought her home safe when she was lost and surrounded by trolls on a remote mountain ridge – it was the sort of adventure that only happens to couples in fairy stories, but Wurm let us shared them.

They still have the neighbouring deeds on the perfect spot on Independence that she found on the first day it opened, while he was still messing about trying to find somewhere on the outer coast. In real life they have lived apart and lived together and now apart again. Life moves on, they are both very happy, and they still play Wurm together. He still has to make nails for her, and she still does all the clever digging stuff.

She gave him so many things, most of which he is thankful for, but the one he is thankful for right now is Wurm.

She knows who she is.

When i first started this game i set out of the howl headed somewhere looking for something amazing. I quickly learned cliffs are bad. I learned fighting spiders without anything was bad. I learnedswimming across giant bodies of water was bad. So after 2 hours i'd managed to kill myself ever way imaginable and barely hold on to my noobie tools. A friend named Conniesewer help my find my home today she came to the howl escorted me around wurm to west indy. Upon getting there I imediatly fell in love with wurm after seeing Grizlam. Serpentius and his giant colosus statues perched high up in the air int he middle of the desert. It was the most amazing thing i'd seen. After that i was shown Plunder Hold another amazing place to visit. I found me a small flat area of land with a colosuss built some years before and settled right under neath of it where i remain today.

So yeah i want to thank Conniesewer for helping me find my way over there and giving me tools to get started. Serpentarius For his amazing home without seeing it i may not have made it because i realized how awesome this game can be when making things. Also to the owner of plunder hold i've met him once and can't remember his name atm =(.

I'd like to thank Scoutknife for giving me his rowboat, the Miss Anthrope, for free. I was trying to get jobs for money then, and I had a hard time traveling. Its hard traveling on foot when spiders can pop out of any corner and you have 2 fs. I asked for a ride and he gave me his boat.

Thanks to Kaih and Elite.

Both were major influences in my wurm life. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be playing today.

I was always living Close to Elite, Setting close to frontier when I originally started in indi. We talked little yet I learned more about him, Always having him as a helping hand whenever I needed some guidance. Then Deliverance came out, Which I moved to from the start. I Sailed completely around the new Island the 1st day, setting into a deed on the 2nd or 3rd day. It just so happened I settled next to Tristan, Which was founded on the 1st day. Kaih was the 1st one I originally saw there. I Introduced myself and we began talking. Him and I always had a helpful relationship, Whether it be borrowing or giving each other supplies/animals he was always kind to give me whatever I needed. As time moved on and his town expanded very rapidly compared to my slow expansion of my solo deed we still talked alot. After which Elite offered the job of filling frying pans. I did it for a month, during which i learned alot about him and the past of Indi, as well as getting to know some of his friends. It was hard but had alot of fun and made some good silver.

Thanks to both of you. If I didn't ever meet either of you I most likely wouldn't be on wurm now.

You made my experience great, made me have ton of fun and laughs, and helped me learn and expand how I play wurm.

It's hard to thank only a few players i met on my way with Wurm Online, there are just too many who deserve a "Thank You!"

So i thank all Wurm Online players - the good, the bad, the weird, the vocal, the silent, the newbie and the veteran - as i learned so much more about myself with all of you just being there :)

Earlier today as I was raining down terror on the animals of the Eastern Steppe a Hellhound popped out and started eating my horse. I noticed about the time he hit the dying mark. I tried running away but ended up being rundown and being mobbed the hellhound and a horde of spiders. All the great gear and skill that you've earned doesn't mean much when its about 45 minutes walking --> thataway in the midst of every critter imaginable. It reminded me of when I first started playing. I knew that I wanted to find a small place throw up a shack and see what this game was about. I had no idea where I was going and hardly a clue what to do. Naturally I decided roads weren't good enough for me and I started wandering the woods. Woods also happen to be a favorite place for spiders, a couple of which soon were tailing after me. Bleeding from every orifice and probably yelling in local I stumbled past a homestead looking for solace. 2 gentlemen, whose name I don't remember, sallied forth when they heard my cries and politely trounced the spiders and patched me up. They gave me some cotton and advice to be wary of the woods at night.

Later...I ventured toward a deed that I heard was recruiting. While waiting for someone to log on one of the neighbors found out that I was new and proceeded to walk me around for an hour show me the area and answer any questions. At the end he showered me with gifts and sent me on my way.

Being the impatient newbie that I was I decided to set up shop in the area since the deed owner hadn't logged in a few days. Two other people (Mavv and Jilly) had just moved into the area as well and seeing my lowly mucks invited me to live alongside their deed. They helped me plan my house and kept me fed.

I've never experienced the sense of community feel this game exudes in any other game. Often you'll find a couple people but as a whole this game seems to have a great community. The first friendly people I've met have inspired me to help other new people as they've walked by. I hope to that any of them that do continue to play will keep the ball rolling. For everyone who has spent time trying to build up this community ~ Thank you!

Even though there is of course some incentive ;) to post here thanks to the generosity of Kaj it has been great reading about everyones experiences.

Stuck in Kinoss Bay Cave Canal.. :)

Thanks to my loony 99 digging friend- Pat, recruited him when we were both noobs and he pretty much doubled the size of my building space(we were on the coast of the inner sea, digging and dropping dirt). Later he inherited a deed from Syleth and Ashyja, about the same time I first went to Wild. I came back from Wild, he took me in, and he always puts up with my wander lust :)

Hard to say thanks to everyone. So let me say thanks to the person that helped me learn to see the game through his eyes and fall in love with it. Goon. We met you on GV and you taught us the tricks of the game. Gave me my very first fishing pole and did not laugh at me too hard when I broke it. Kindly made me another. You saw us off of GV with me asking you to join us. To my surprise around 6 months or so later you joined us on Indy. You have enriched our lives so much. Introduced me to some very good friends and shared even more with us once you came to live with us. It has been very sad to no longer see your name in village chat. The game is not the same without Goon in it.

I would like to thank Outdone, when i was a wide eyed noob back on Independence he lived up the hill from me just in local. he would take me on hunts, protect me and show me around. he made countless runs to Spawn to run me the 30 mins back to our little noob camp so i would not get lost (frankly at this time i could take 2 steps from spawn and get lost) he showed me how to fight, how to farm, and even slew a few dozen greenish scorps that set up shop in the area. if it had not been for him i would not be as addicted to wurm as i became and still am to this day

I would also like to thank Aetherwalker who came to live with us at our little noob camp after we were able to set up our first deed (crystal pastures). He helped us with tools and many many hooks for my newly developing leather working habit. and later became one of my most reliable workers when he mined out most of the rock on my farm

third i would like to thank Kajmir who when i was struggling money wise gave me some very helpful tips and put me in contact with some contacts who would buy crops from me. without her my farm might not be what it is today

Lastly i would like to thank Ruger, who wandered to me and took up the large task of my vineyards what had been gifted to me, he set up buildings and hedges and even pays for the upkeep and expansion out of his own pocket

one last sneak in for Rudie, who is as i type this helping me find my corpse on wild, after i AFK sailed and drowned. words have no way of conveying the thankfulness! he is driving around on a sail boat me in tow casing locate soul to find my corpse. just to elaborate on how thankful i am, my leathe rworking tools 90ql enchanted, an 85ql drake set, an enchanted med maul. 4s i just made from a delivery among other things.. of and my fave of all, my 60ql rare backpack! <3 you Rudie! think ill stay on my own server for a while now >.<

though all of thees people have been thanked in person many times :P

Last Oct. Splize and I started wurm together. We set up a small shack next to the water and had a 3 title farm set up all in the first day. We were amazed on what we did and we could not stop playing. Shorty after that a spider came along and somehow got stuck in our house, so we were forced to leave our shack and farm behind. A few hours later we came across a player named boppington. Bop was digging a his deed, at that time it had two houses and a mine. We started talking to bop and he invited us to live with him in-till we could find our own home. Months later we sill lived with bop and had our skills up enough to be able to start own own deed. Little did we know bop was about to leave the game. Bop handed over his deed to splize and I and since then Kins has become the mayor of that deed and had the fist ever colossus built there on Exo. Splize has also had to take a break. The first few months have been the best so far and I am looking forward to more to come!

I first played wurm many many years ago. It was on the old map. I was so confused by it I think the only thing I managed to do was walk out into the wilderness and chop down a tree. I then got anoyed cause I was lost so I stopped playing.

The a year or so later I decided to check out wurm now that time has passed. And well, there were a ton of updated. I got in, and ended up meeting one of my friends in game that I had no idea played wurm. Hung out with them for a little while, then took a break from the game.

I came back and joined a deed. This is when I first started to learn the game. I got premium and did a lot of farming. The deed later got sold to someone else so I left.

Now I have accounts on Indy, Deli, and Celi. I am still a major noob at the game, but for all the years ive played it I still love it.
