Question on "Wurm Dev Blog: Crazy Creatures"

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

my Question after reading this article is : Will there be Spawns on islands ?

Im wondering how to get Bulls, Cows, etc. to the stables. How to breed without inbreeding ?

In this case it would be very bad, when new creatures wouldnt spawn near deeds.

Just want to know before placing a deed. ;)

As long there aren't many deeded places around you.. some should spawn if there are contitions for that to happen, like having a 'forest/steppe' biome(only guessing they spawn on that 2 type of tiles).

As you've read the crazy-creatures thread.. you know that wild animals do not spawn on deeded lands or too close to them...

If your island is not too small - you'll eventually get a lucky spawn there(probably).

Alternatively you could always make a bridge and bring animals from the main land.B)

I lived for about 1.5 years on a island. (Horseshoe island on Pristine)

Before bridges even existed. Or the load mechanic. We have asked them numerous times for animal crates to be able to transport animals to islands. (The excuse has been that they each have unique codes and therefore wouldn't be able to be transported from server to server.)

Now there seems to be the 'well you can just make a bridge' being bandied about...not everyone wants a bridge connecting their island/or has the skills to get it done.

Yes, it does make sense to just not have some animals able to swim and I certainly don't agree with giving them all swimming ability...but there needs to be a way other than 'Go build a bridge'.

Depending on the size of the island, and where it is (For example south Xan would be bad for attempting to get spawns.)...you could attempt to create the conditions for something to spawn...but if you're on one of the tiny islands and your deed takes the whole island, you are just out of luck altogether currently.

Back when, the only way was to land bridge. Imagine the uproar people caused when someone would land-bridge to get some animals...and then someone else would demolish it to get their trade route back, and then the person would re-land-bridge...and it would go back and forth and drama was created. This was part of the intention behind it. To create conflicts. The game was originally intended to be full PvP by the founder of the game. A lot of the players end up on PvE though. We should be past this type of stuff by now...
