leather sword sheath

Recommended Posts

As the title says and the picture shows.

This is needed to increase immersion and to make everyone look a lot more cooler ;)

Liking this idea, perhaps a small reduction in decay if placed in the sheath but not on a person?(I know there's no decay on a character)

Maybe decreased movement speed with weapon unsheathed (wielded) so you dont always have weapons at the ready

Having our shields on our backs and sword in a sheath while out of combat would be cool

Might be in the too hard basket though :(

Not to mention more immersive excuses for extra "tool belts".

Bandoliers!

Awesome suggestions! Even smaller satchelbags attached to the "toolbelt"

All in for that.  Be cool to have your shield on your back when not using it instead of in your bag.  Like after 5-10 seconds of not fighting the game would auto move your sword to sheath on waist and shield on your back.

Then when target something or about to fight it would put sword and shield back in your hands.

Custom cool looking sheath could come from rifts and make a basic one craftable.  Have to have a sheath for auto "holstering" animation your stuff.

-1 for trying to make the game worse under the guise of "muh realism"

This would mean when you are running away from the creature that'd kill you. Are you sure you would like that? :)

+1 to adding sheath for all weapons so can just not carry it in hand all the time, and draw it for combat (and might even fix the whole having to unequip weapon to better tame thing?)

but -1 on the whole got to draw/sheath manualy part and movement affected.. games slow you down cause you take a combat posture when you draw your weapon...but if its just walking you would just look weird with them drawn that's it

I really feel like recurring suggestions should at least get a dev response. :(

Here's mine from over 5 years ago about the same exact subject, with a perhaps mechanic associated with it:

Quote

You should automatically sheathe and unsheathe a weapon depending on whether or not you're targeting something or not.

As soon as you target something, you draw your weapon. After you either kill the target, or you no-target, your weapon should automatically be sheathed again.

Maybe you could require wearing a scabbard around the legs or torso, depending on weapon? Bows would obviously require a torso scabbard on the back, while a single-handed longsword, maul, or axe would require a scabbard placed on the legs (such as the toolbelt). The larger weapons would require torso scabbards that hang on your back as well.

Simple idea, but I think it would save a lot of headaches for people who dislike seeing their weapons flail around uncontrollably in front of them.

+1  , of course!
