Start a puplic server on bluefangsolutions

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody.

I'm not a computer specialist but I want to start a public server with my friends. I rented a bluefangsolutions-server. I downloaded the server tool from steam.

After that I created a own map with MapGenerator 2.8. But now I have some problems...

1) How can I transfer my map to the server?

2) What do I have to do, to restart the server with my own clean map?

I tried this for the first time but at the end my currend world crashed. And now I can't see my server on the list anymore...

Can anybody help me.

Thanks.

tested bluefangsolutions a long time ago with WU.

dont quote me:

to 1) back in my days you could easily transfer folders and files via FTP (google FileZilla)

to 2) never tested with custom maps, but option one: rename, option two: check the setting files to lead map path to your wished direction (never tried, but d be the first game without such files)

can check when i m at home if you have no qualified answer or solution till then.

With bluefang you will have ftp access. Use an ftp program (I use core ftp, others use filezilla) to upload your map files. There will be 5 different files all ending in .map that need to be added overwriting or deleting the old ones.

Do this when your server is offline. Then switch it back on and you'll be able to play with your new map.

Reasons for crashing usually happen when there was a problem uploading, so check the size of all 5 map files they should all be exactly the same size. Another reason is that you have uploaded not all 5 pieces of the map or are using a mixture of the pieces from your custom map and the original.

I'd reccomend starting over by deleting all 5 map files you currently have in your folder and then starting a fresh upload.

ALL file changes and Database resets need to be done locally and all uploaded.
