crash log

Recommended Posts

HI Vulpie,

the first thing that stands out is you're running a 32 bit java (x86) on a 64 bit PC, This causes a lot of issues and crashes, try uninstalling all java and then downloading and installing the 64 bit version.

If the crashes continue, let us know!

It's also happening with the intel graphics driver, so two  three things to try:

1) Go to Control panel > Programs and remove ALL entries for java, then download and install ONLY the WINDOWS OFFLINE 64-bit  install here: https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

2) Now we still want to figure why it is crashing on the intel graphics. A first question is whether this is a laptop with "switchable graphics" -- ie, Intel for battery saving and NVidia-geforce or ATI/AMD-radeon for gaming. If so, there is an easy fix in the graphics control panel - 3D Settings - Global where you tell it to ALWAYS use the high performance gaming card.   If this is an option, you can probably stop at steps 1&2.

If that does not apply to you,and intel graphics are your only option,  then we want to find out whether there is a better Intel graphics driver than what you are using now. Do NOT trust windows update when it says you already have the best available driver, because they ignore OpenGL games like Wurm and just give a generic DirectX friendly driver, go instead to the Intel site and have them check whether they have a newer driver for you. GO HERE:  http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html   If you get confused there, or it doesn't work, try their all purpose February 2017 Windows driver here, it is certain to be newer and better than whatever Windows Update claims is best.

3) There is actually a third step too -- your Wurm settings need to be ones selected for intel graphics (which is technically not supported as a minimum requirement, but we should be able to get it running anyway as most intel users can run the game.) Start with the troubleshooting settings shown here and see if it eliminates crashes, AFTER you have done steps 1 & 2 above.  if it stops the crashes we can try turning a few things up afterwards and making things look a little prettier. It may cause some odd graphics issues with terrain tiles or NPC animations, we will work on that after the crashes stop.

if you get confused at any step, just let us know what parts are confusing you most. Your crash situation is actually a common one (memory crash from 32-bit java + intel drivers) and odds are excellent we can solve it, we'll just take little steps if need be.

** PS: I found your other thread on laptop+intel terrain tile shifting, did the unstable client linked in that thread solve the issue? That client is here: http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient_unstable.jnlp
