Shield Bashing Skill Gains

17 posts in this topic

Recently grinding an account up from scratch I noticed how bad the skill gain for Shield bashing is heres an example :

[20:59:52] Shield bashing increased by 0.0471 to 4.2852

That's one tick, and you only get a tick when you push the animal over. I would suggest tweaking it in some shape of form up more so that its viable to skill it via hunting and not just using a bunch of alts.

Does it not give more gain the more damage you do?

it seems to be the higher your skill the greater your chance at a successful bash, or am I wrong

so starting out the gains are very slow, as you fail your chance to bash almost non stop, but as the skill improves your chances at a successful bash improve

overall the ticks seem very small compared to other skill gains

It's basically the same rate as something like weaponsmithing but with a 10 second cooldown between potential skill ticks. Its....terrible.

For that reason i think this should be changed and made easier to skill

Also because shield bashing got a pretty big nerf and even with 70+ skill i miss a lot, so why not let a few more people try it in a fight, it's not OP.

Finally because people deserve a chance to catch up to scumbags like me who got it high abusing windows of opportunity.

I had a look at this actually after we got that change a little while back that was supposed to make shields skill better based on blocking a lot and using high QL shields. They set the difficulty so low that for good gains you still wanna be using a 1QL shield basically >.<

basically it needs a simple code difficulty increase and it'd work nicer.

To my knowledge (no code knowledge) that is how it works, however I'm pretty sure the shield quality, skill and sub fight stats do have some impact on your success rate.

Yes please as well, I am currently skiling small wooden shield and small axe. I get .02 ticks with sb at 20 skill, it's really slow compared to every other shield. Where if I fight the same mob with same ql shield and coc but large metal instead I get .1 or higher ticks.

Don't worry Egard "pvp changes are being worked on"

It's totally happening ok? Believe.

I'm curious if there are shield skill gains for when you successfully block an incoming attack.  If this provided a tick, then it would help to off-set the lack of gains on strictly shield bashing.
