Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) Was at my forge and instinctively looked up to see what time it was in-game. We have no clocks. So I hit ctrl+T and read the time in the event tab. No biggie, but I think having clocks would be more immersive and more fun. Searched, then specifically searched in this sub-forum, and did not see a previous thread about this, so here goes. Pocket Watch: Functions like a compass. Originally thought we might show compass makers some love with this, but it's a completely different mechanism... so, jewelry? Brass, silver, bronze, gold, etc. If you want to get fancy, have the watch face differ by metal used. Rarity does not make time move any faster, or slower. You can read the time regardless of how rare it is. Grandfather Clock: The clock part, and the pendulum(s) are made by a jeweler. Hands it off, sells it, whatever, to fine carpenter to build the casing for it. The clock part could eventually also be used in other kinds of clocks, or just different styles of grandfather clock. Quality of the clock enhances your pride in the item. Grandfather clocks can be painted and count as decorations on deed. Clock disappears upon disconnect to increase profit. Just kidding. You do not, ever, for any reason other than fun and immersion, have to use this. Update: An awesome, player developed, free, tool --> Yaga's Supercalifragilistic Clock of Wurm Goodness! Not a client addition, a stand alone program you can continue using even when your boss makes you log off Wurm. Fully vetted, tested, and used by tons of people (actual weight measurement may vary) Seasonal Calendar incorporated with harvest info. You'll love having it, or your money back. Posted December 20, 2016 Great, but they didn't even invented glass in wurm, and you want complicated engineering mechanism wich is working clock. It's like jumping few centuries ahead. I would understood some sort of magic device or just solar clock.
Posted December 20, 2016 On a sidenote... I know it's not the same, but you are aware that you can overlay WurmClock on the client window, aren't you? (As a workaround)
Posted December 20, 2016 Thats cool Yaga, but client hacks are a mission, dodgy and server admins cannot control them. Secondly, it means everyone is not getting the same, balanced experience. But I loved the Window argument, it's true. We have no glass, and it rains through our roofs, so how can we have quartz timed clocks (we need quartz!) Posted December 20, 2016 This is not a client hack! WurmClock is a standalone gadget on your screen, which can be dragged to be visible on top of the client window. No modding or hacking involved

Just kidding: +1 You know, I actually thought of suggesting they make your clock buildable in-game and pay you royalties Not sure how likely that is though The clock tower idea is awesome! Good point @Wilczan, the technology involved might (is) ahead of the era we're playing in. I too have a leaky roof, so I put buckets, but somehow they seem to leak too! Perhaps we can invoke a forgotten Viking era engineer, Sigmundur Nokiasson, who created the clock?

(As a workaround) Which graphics mode are you playing to have it stay on top like that? And if you don't mind, what resolution? I'd love to have the standard skin appear that small on my screen. Posted January 25, 2017 WurmClock works great for me (same settings, btw)
Posted January 25, 2017 How about the various types of Elementary clocks (sundials, hourglasses, waterclocks)?
Posted January 27, 2017 Cool idea. Tower clocks! No need for glass, can do only non-wearable versions. +
