Hi all!

Another week has gone by, and we're nearing the end of the year, with the jingle bells in the distance, and some man in a red suit being spotted all over the place. We've got a bit of news as we work on refining the massive changes in 1.3, so lets get to it!

but first...

  • Bugfix: Non-premium players should now get temporary affinities from food.
  • Bugfix: Fixed a bug which caused the crafting window to consume containers used in cooking recipes.
  • Bugfix: Fix for prospecting ceilings above a reinforced floor and getting the floor message as a result.
  • Bugfix: Fix for chocolate coated hazelnuts recipe result.
  • Bugfix: Fix for all foods/produce resulting in 99% nutrition. Food will now give appropriate nutrition based off ql and nutritional value.
  • Bugfix: Can no longer smelt glimmersteel ore.
  • Bugfix: An examine on a still will now correctly show if it is planted and by whom.
  • Bugfix: Adjusted hot food cooking skill gain based on difficulty and number of ingredients.
  • Bugfix: Wild growth will now correctly affect the new crops. Increased the bonus on field yield from Wild Growth based upon the power of the cast.
  • Bugfix: Sealed wine barrels will properly age and ferment while inside wine barrel racks.
  • Bugfix: Right click plant now works correctly with an empty beehive in inventory.
  • Bugfix: Rare results from using a fruit press have been removed because of numerous issues with rare oils and juices.
  • Bugfix: Possible fix for missions not appearing for some gods at times.
  • Bugfix: Possible fix for bees leaving the domestic hive during transport.
  • Bugfix: Possible fix for Gold Rune of Fo and farming yield.
  • Bugfix: Harvest option now appears on right click menu for new crops with nothing activated.
  • Bugfix: Fixed parsing error when trying to set a price on a written recipe.

  • Bugfix: Fixed an issue which allowed you to pick and/or plant herbs on deed without proper permissions.
  • Bugfix: Fix for some liquids not combining with same type (ex. milk, cream).
    • This will not fix current liquids that do not combine, but moving parts of the existing liquid to new containers (not moving it all) will allow it to be combined, the old remaining liquid will not be able to be combined. This can be done with a measuring jug until 1g of old liquid remains in the container (as it is the smallest possible amount).
  • Bugfix: Fix for recent tunneling action  which resulted in open voids and death leaps.
  • Bugfix: Corrected a few more spelling and text errors.

Seedlings steps up!
After months of tireless work as the assistant wiki manager, Seedlings will be taking over as the wikipedia manager from here on out, recognising her hard work and dedication. We'll continue to be updating the wiki to incorporate all the changes that came with 1.3, so if you'd like to lend a hand, or just obtain a wiki account for general updating, feel free to fill out the form below!

Alternatively, you can always post information on our wiki maintenance section of the forums, or in #wurmpedia on IRC, our wiki assistants and editors are always happy to ensure that information gets updated as soon as possible.

SotG changes
This update also saw Shield of the Gone changed to start kicking in at level 7, with 6% DR, scaling up each level to the full 30% DR at level 11. This change hopefully takes some of the wait off with SotG as we move forward, but we will be looking at an entire meditation overhaul in the not too distant future, covering all paths to ensure that they are fairly balanced against each other.

Securing
Yesterdays patch notes including an option to "secure" plantable items. Currently the list given is not fully functional due to a bug, but the new ability will allow players to secure items that could not be planted before, meaning greater protection of these items.

We'll also be adding a few bash options for existing items, allowing players to remove some things that they couldn't before, and ensuring there's a way to knock secured and planted items down too 70 damage to be able to pick up when off deed.

WU beta

With this weeks update out and most of the bugs squished, our next major focus is on Wurm Unlimited receiving the beta update, so rest assured the wait will soon be over! The recipe system teased will be coming with this, and we will have a special section of the Wurm unlimited forum for the creation and sharing of these player made recipes (I have also heard of at least one or two recipe generation tools being worked on).

Community Content

This weeks community content is going back to an older mentioned one, the Wurm community radio!

The radio station is up and running at http://www.lifemud.com/radio/ and they are looking for volunteer DJ's! If you like the idea of rambling to a captive audience of wurmians for up to an hour (who doesn't, I've seen you all on GL chat!) feel free to apply!

That's it for this week though, we'll have more information about the WU beta over the coming week, and hopefully have a date by the end of it.

Until then though,

Keep on Wurming!

Retrograde & the Wurm team.

Will a feature feedback post or any other type of official post be made about this and what direction the DEV team is likely heading or wanting to head? Although there have been many decent suggestions there has been little input as to what general direction the wurm team would like to head and what they would like to accomplish with the changes. This information would go a long way in knowing how to make suggestions.

Good job with everything else so far.

actually in the recent meditation thread budda commented on it. *cough* and atleast 2 other reg devs and 2 client devs were looking at the thread *cough*

Based on dev input there it seems we get a pool of abilities per path and get the option to unlock/choose abilities at certain levels of meditation. Some abilities would be level restricted. All paths would have a scalable passive.

Also seems we are getting some new UI for meditation that would be similar to talent trees.

except that its pretty unknown.

But none the less, some more details on what devs decided to do would be neat.

Might be good to add a note about the Impalong in this weeks weekly. In OP.

Only the first part of that was in the client patch notes.   Good change to Insanity.
Second part was not.   Kinda wondering if it was a bad idea to switch paths on my priest and go at insanity manually now that it's been said there will be a med overhaul.   I suspect if there a med overhaul coming there will be a free path switch and I missed out on it with my priest my switching manually.
If/when the med over haul comes, will there be a free med change over, and will people who already changed get the option to skip the timer and get back up to previous path level?

Patch notes only have to say what is patched, not what is a planned feature/nerf/buff. For features/nerfs/buffs to come, you have the link to these news-post in the client.

Other then that, I'm curious how the other paths will be worked out. Will they all gradually add up till the lvl 11 bonus? (exp% for knowledge, healing for love, ...), or still no solid thoughts?

I tried wild growth on sugar beets and the growth period did not move to the next.  The gold rune of Fo does not work either from what we can see.

It's not meant to advance crop stage, but tend to the fields and add yield (which it now does). The rune of Fo adds 1 extra tend at a 10% chance each rake, you see a message stating:

[17:48:33] The rake seems to have an extra effect on the field.

from my testing:

The Fo rune acts as though your skill is 10% higher, but doesn't add to QL. This can cause you to hit the extra yield milestones.

from what you said but I haven't checked:

The Libila rune causes you to harvest 10% higher QL, but doesn't hit yield milestones in that 10%
