Tunnel reinforcements - walls and floors

Recommended Posts

I've spoken to many people and I get differences in opinions and since I've been semi away for a while I'd like people to comment with their opinions.

For years, my main tunnel only had wall reinforced and no tiles collapsed. Then there was a reinforced floor change and I started getting collapses. People say they will always have a chance of collapsing even with everything reinforced (which I've never seen). I've had people say they just reinforce floors now and no collapses.

Opinions, perspectives, thoughts, facts, rumors?

The chance of a collapse by a supported tile was always so small that personal experience was never really a testament since even if someone has never doesn't mean it will never. It can and did happen.

Reinforcing walls is the major deterrent, reinforcing the floors adds to that.

The unsupported walls collapsing (e.g. middle row of a 3 tile wide cave) was reverted as it was pretty clear how damaging that mechanic was to community projects

I can testify that does happen, had to recently mine out the same tile twice (within a few days of each other) in an alliance tunnel. Both walls were reinforced.
