Posted August 15, 2016 I understand that speed is king in Wurm Unlimited, and that difficulty doesn't seem to matter, when it comes to grinding your skill as efficient as possible. However, I've heard that HFC is an exception? Can anyone confirm this to be true or not? Currently I've pan filled about 1000 pans with 1 garlic + 1 onion for stews. On my particular server, this took me from 20 to 50 skill using SB. I'm wondering if it would make any difference if I now switch over to a more difficult meal in each pan or just continue with whatever materials I have on hand? Posted August 15, 2016 For hot food cooking you get optimal skillgains when the difficulty of the meal(obtainable via examining the cooking container w/food inside), are within 5 above or below your skill level. Various items added to the meal increase difficulty for instance a needle added increases difficulty, and can be reused as the needle doesn't cook into the meal. Other things such as cooking in a forge vs. cooking in an oven also increases difficulty. That all said, I've personally found it just easier time-wise to not bother with ensuring the difficulty is within range of my level, and usually just do a meat filet(since you can obtain 3/cooked meat), and any veggie, then make thousands of meals that way. As I recall someone a while back had said with sleep bonus, a meat, and a veggie, it takes only roughly 20,000 meals to get from 1-95 hot food cooking. Obviously less if you maintain within your level but it can be more time consuming to maintain within optimal range of your level considering how fast it increases in only a small amount of meals(a thousand or so). Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) 10k got me past 90 on two accounts (corn+garlic) Edit: was about 50k to get 99.8 on the vynora priest) Edited August 15, 2016 by Rasu
Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Is this the case on Wurm Unlimited though? I heard difficulty didn't matter in WU. I know on WO it does, and it took me about 20k meals to hit 90+. But on this WU server (5x skill bonus), I hit 51 with just 1k stews so I'm thinking much less will be needed. Edited August 15, 2016 by Wreck
Posted August 15, 2016 Correct, Difficulty is irrelevant in WU. WU is a succes based skill gain system.
