Posted July 29, 2016 This weeks header image by fairyshine (though I did need to turn a gif into a solid screenshot!) Hi everyone! No Patch notes for this week as we've been hard at work on planning some big updates down the line, doesn't mean nothings been going on though! WU beta A new beta was launched for Wurm Unlimited, with a whole range of fixes aimed at hell creatures spawning, shoulder pads showing, and various other admin bugs. Vyolette joins the team! We also have a new staff member, Vyolette working with us in order to catalogue and track Wurm Unlimited bugs, allowing us to better address these issues. Be nice! Crossing server issues Some players have encountered an extremely rare issue when crossing servers that left their inventory empty. The dev team is working on identifying this issue, but as per Enkis WSA, please DO NOT cross back. Instead, log a support ticket immediately, or jump in IRC to grab a GM. If you have not crossed the server border, your inventory should be easily recovered. A true hunt Chaos is in for another hunt this month, with some good old fashioned slayings. Avatars will be set up in locations for players to hunt down, fight, and if they're lucky, kill. All loot on the avatars will be for the players to take so if you're headed out, be sure to bring gear, friends, and luck. Strange materials Whispers abound of these strange artifacts left from the rifts, unnatural trees, glowing stones and crystals. Some have even rumoured that they will soon be collected as resources, for unknown purposes. Xanadu Domains On Saturday, the 30th of July, some time in the morning server time (UTC+1) we will be attempting another run of the new domain system on Xanadu. The system has been further optimised and will hopefully avoid causing lag. The devs will be on hand to monitor lag and will disable the system if necessary, fingers crossed! Community Content I'm a huge fan of videos and streams of Wurm, and this weeks community content is no exception. This is a video of Huntington Castle, on Pristine by Sirene. It's an amazing work of terraforming, connecting two small islands together, and definitely worth checking out. That's it for this week, see some of you on Chaos this weekend, the rest of you, keep on wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
Posted July 29, 2016 Harvesting resources transformed by rifts sounds cool. Although, I'm concerned with how plentiful they will be. One of my favorite things about Wurm is that I can go get whatever I want (almost that is). I don't have to get in line for the cool loot rat race that exists in s0 many other games. Its simply not fun if only a few people get to have the cool toys. It's better when resources are plentiful so anyone can get them, but then again I tend to like socialist things so I'm biased.

Strange things sometimes happen within little brother WU (being of Asian descent) and it is good to read that someone who has insight into this foreign Wurmian dialect will be deciphering the mumbled responses when others shake their heads in bafflement. May your raindrops there be warm ones Vyolette. =Ayes=
Posted July 29, 2016 Also would like to know what type of items have been vanishing? I have done a lot of sailing this week and never pay much attention to my inventory so what should I be trying to figure out what I lost, if at all.
Posted July 29, 2016 Limited resources from fixed items sounds like a good way to upset people when there isn't enough? People hogging the resources to block others, etc But I do second oreo's post, I hope it's a fun optional only resource and not another glimmer/addy/seryll
Posted July 29, 2016 I have seen people try to make these invitation only. I have seen people talk of wanting to fence them in. Now we have a way to get some kind of a resource from the ground near/at a rift. I can see people ignoring the rift to try to get whatever it is they are putting there. Or leaving an alt stationed there to be the first to grab. Guess I'm getting old or jaded. But just doesn't seem like this is going to do anything but cause alot of new problems.
Posted July 29, 2016 I thought the dev team was gonna focus on fixing pvp :/ burned off already i guess.
Posted July 29, 2016 alt metas where pvp or fighting something for a reward isn't 100% a necessity i.e just ###### all over the ground will be rampant and people will see why HOTA is a joke for pvp because alts just do it because why ever make something challenging
Posted July 29, 2016 Congrats and good luck Vyolette! Lovely first video Sirene! As I said in YouTube, looking forward to watching how the island progresses :). And as we've discussed, it's so true that horses look so much nicer when they can roam freely in a pasture :).

I can completely see a rift, tons of mobs around, just about everyone coordinating to kill them ... and one loner running around dodging mobs and collecting the resources to sell on the forums later.
Posted July 29, 2016 Don't get too excited, folks. We thought Rift was going to be some huge loot grab run by the server elites. I doubt they will make the garbage left after the Rift more valuable than the garbage you might get from the Rift itself.
Posted July 29, 2016 then why have either of them in game if theyre garbage?

They may make it so the resources are only harvestable after the rift is over, would make sense.
Posted July 29, 2016 If the rift aftermath resources are valuable I imagine someone will drop a deed on the area the instant the rift closes. That would need to be prevented by game mechanics that check for rift resources within the deed boundaries.

That would need to be prevented by game mechanics that check for rift resources within the deed boundaries. I can see why this would concern people, however, should also be balanced by people being able to deed an area where a rift previously took place. Hopefully, the resources will be available fairly soon after the rift finishes, and decay if not harvested within a week or so (if the resources are just for fun and not really OP stuff, this may also happen), so the area becomes part of normal Wurm again and deedable as before the Rift took place. I second that the resources be mostly useless stuff instead of elitist toys. Lastly, again, a request to the dev team to please look into carts and wagons not following terrain under them. I know you are busy, but this issue has been around for a very long time and is extremely annoying.
