Reduce the distortion of land, roads and structures by rifts

Poor compromise. All rift land deformations should be eliminated. All weird Rift projections should be bashable with 1 hit from a shovel or pick with instant timer. No damage should be done to the tool used. The killing of all vegetation and packing of ground makes sense because then players can see all the rift mobs clearly and move around faster.

Even with the changes I mentioned it will still require concerned players to dig/drop/cultivate the packed earth so new foliage and trees will sloooowly regrow. The more caring players will even take time to replant these areas with sprouts. Still, eventually it will become tiring to redo these rift destroyed areas to their former natural or player cultivated states.

Your suggested implementations fall far short of taking these things into consideration.

Burn it all... sand as far as the client can render.

Constant erupting volcanoes every few tiles, very few water tiles, .. oh and high level monsters packed 30 a tile.

From what I heard the latest rift on Deli destroyed part of a highway, most of the oak trees in the area and part of a peat field.

This folly has to stop!

yeah the last rift destroyed part of the HIGHWAY with hedge on the side, so it cant be fixed easily AT ALL.   Have fun destroying a hedge off deed just to fix the highway.

There are plenty of abandoned ruins and ill advised terraforming projects scarring all servers that could use a little destruction. Why not target those places? Use your little flying mechanic to find spots that could use some reset.

In addition to the OP suggestion: why does there have to be any terraforming at all? What is the reason for a rift altering the existing landscape - nobody really needs that and nobody ever asked for it.

(Maybe the devs thought this might be a "cool feature", but they should have realized by now that the community does not really share their opinion ;))

So: please remove the terraforming done by rifts, and (as suggested several times before) confine the rifts to certain special areas that are unused and undeveloped by players.

It was already listed that there would be new materials in these distorted fields.  That could be used for new things.

Still waiting for first rift to hit tundra.. the damage it does there, will take years (literally) to heal.

I don't see what that has to do with the terraforming done by rifts.  We can have "new materials" (crystals etc) if we must, but we don't need any new hills, ditches and trenches, nor is there any need for the rift to destroy trees and other natural resources.
