[4.00 FIXED] - Snow issues with AMD Cards

It is snowing , cant see much of anything.

Radeon Software Crimson Edition (16.3.2) , I don't use the beta versions

 

turning shadows on/off makes no difference

Is there anyone without an AMD Radeon card that has the same issue?

 

Zorako, can you also see if there is a difference if Shadows are ON or OFF?

@AlectrysThere was just a AMD Crimson driver update but I am not sure if it made much difference. It seems the FPS jitter flattened out some but the snow vanished. I am not sure if it is only showing while it is snowing (as pictured above) and then not showing snow at all after it stops falling. Will have to wait until it snows again while I am online to see.

Snow is on the ground. That sunset is gorgeous too! It's not currently snowing but since I am at the desk, might as well let it run.

I see what is happening. If I get disconnected, the client connects back into summer. Something is happening upon reconnection to remove the snow.

I have an older 5800 series amd at work and the snow was doing the same as posted here. I downloaded the crimson drivers and it seems to be fine now. ( my card is in the legacy section now I guess so had to search a bit for the crimson driver because the auto detect said I had the latest driver already but they do have one)

@KeganYes, the newest Crimson that (I guess because it's supposed to check constantly) came out this week hopped my FPS from 4 back to my capped 45. If the AMD users in this thread have not checked for updates, you might give the new one a try and see if things change. I still need to test the snow. I have not had it falling since I updated the drivers.

I just logged in to see if it might snow and it was snowing. Here it is after the lasted driver update. No change. 

Also noted, when looking toward trees, 6 FPS. When looking away and over water, 30 to 45 fps. It's wildly bouncing around between the two.

Writing in this thread too since I got this fascinating snow effect now and it's somewhat more game breaking than the fps drop...

CPU: AMD Athlon Dual Core 2,70 GHz
RAM: 4 GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670, 1 GB vram
Driver version: Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta (Legacy support, so this seems to be the latest update)

Thank you for your comments and details.  The issue has been reproduced with a Radeon card and hopefully will be fixed with the next build.

Would you 5 try again on live with the updated Unstable client (since snow is turned on right now) and let us know if the fix worked for you, please?

Currently using the unstable client (AMD graphics card) with snow falling and there is no issue. However, still a crippling FPS drop which basically makes the unstable client unusable... at least for me.

I didn't see snow falling when I logged in (just got the notification email). But I crashed with the lockup from the other thread when I moved. I see snow on the ground and everything looks great. The textures seem crisper and the flame on the brazier looks nice. I had 16 fps before the lockup. On the stable, I have 45 (locked).

Thanks for checking.  The new crash message I'm logging with another thread (even non AMD cards are getting that).  I guess it's hard to see if you can reproduce the snow effect when you can barely stay online.  I appreciate you trying.

Snow falling and no issues at all here. Seems to be fixed :D
The problem with low fps (3-4 while moving) still persists however.
