Server update 18/03/2017

  • Hard caps were put on prices of items on traders. Some items were getting much higher values that they should have, which should no longer be the case.
    • A few players have managed to get a lot of money from that. Since i don't believe anyone did this as an intentional exploit, no action will be taken against them.
    • The player that got the most out of it (and who reported this to me) has voluntarily destroyed some of the money they got.
  • The amount of money traders get was reduced somewhat. They will still always have money to pay, but less of it at one time.
  • Unicorns speed was buffed to be in line with horses and hell horses.

Server update 20/03/2017

  • Fixed a bug related to the trader fix applied on the 18th, that caused inconsistent calculation of prices and lead to sometime the traders paying/charging the wrong amount or saying they don't have enough money even when they did have it.
  • Treasure chests now have a chance to contain rift materials - those can be used to make the new runes. Note: Only chests spawned after the update.

Server update 24/03/2017 (that i forgot to post here, oops)

  • Clay, peat and tar tiles can now be removed on deed using a new "Remove resource" action. Requires a shovel.
  • Ore veins can now be destroyed on deed using a new "Remove vein" action. Requires a large maul, can take some time (up to a few minutes), and will produce a bunch of big, low QL chunks of ore (~10% of what the vein contains).
  • Both actions can only be performed on deeded land, and only by players with terraforming permission.

Server update - 30/03/2017

  • Fixed an issue with liquid containers and bag of holding spell.
  • Fixed an issue that caused hitched aggressive animals to unhitch when aging.
  • Fixed an issue that made animal tokens not have redeem option when placed in inventory subgroups.
  • Rare items you get while digging from a cart will not automatically go into crates.
  • Chickens are now excluded from accelerated aging.
  • Accelerated aging will now stop in adolescent stage.

Server update - 03/04/2017

  • Animal pregnancies will now take ~3 days - there is still some RNG involved, but that's the new baseline.
  • Snowballs can now be stored in FSB (sorry, didn't manage to get that in before winter ended...)
  • Burying bodies now gives a 2c reward, directly to the bank account.
  • Hitched or lead aggressive creatures will no longer be attacked by spirit templars/shadows.
    • NOTE: Not mounts. Mounts will still be attacked, so don't ride your HH into a deed with active guards. This will be changed later.
  • Salve of Frost and Potion of Acid now work. Damage is in line with FA/FB of power ~80. They stack with normal enchants but not each other.

Server Update - 06/04/2017

  • All dragons and drakes will now have more damage reduction and be harder to kill.
  • Scale and Hide drops from dragon and drakes reworked. The amount distributed will increase with the number of players (both the total and individual share).
    • My aim with those changes is that killing uniques with more players will be more rewarding than a small group. Numbers may be tweaked more in the future.
  • Single items in bulk containers will correctly group with other stacks of the same item. (So no more lonely lump, when there are 3 other stacks of lumps nearby)
  • Added 1-handed versions of spears that can be used with shields. Can be made in the same way as the 2h versions. They are lighter, faster, and deal less damage but still have the extended reach.

Server Update - 12/04/2017

 

  • Mounts can now carry more weight without slowing down, and weight-related traits are more powerful

  • Vynora priests with over 60 faith will receive a 20% speed bonus when piloting boats and ships

    • Note: Due to technical limits, ships that are already fast might not get a boost

  • Soft Caps (aka santa hats) are now craftable

  • New trader items:

    • Garden gnome - 5s

    • Yule goat - 5s

    • Yule reindeer - 5s

    • Valentines - 1s

    • Yellow potion (gives temporary illusion) - 1s

    • Brown potion (gives 1 random affinity point) - 20s

    • Fireworks - 1s

    • Silver mirror (allows to change character looks) - 1s

    • Silver scalpel (allows to change character sex) - 5s

    • Picnic basket - 10s

    • HotA voucher (can be redeemed for HotA statue of choice) - 50s

    • Bag of Keeping - 1g

Server update - 15/04/2017

 

  • Enchant ability removed from Path of Love
  • New spell: Enchant nature
    • Available to all WL priests.
    • 26 favor, 30 difficulty, requires 33 faith. Numbers stolen from fungus spell, since this is kinda the same thing just backwards.
    • Works in 3x3 base area, increased by having links.
    • Converts normal grass/tree/bushes to enchanted. Also turns myc/infected trees/bushes into grass and normal trees/bushes.
  • New ability for POL level 7 - Lovely Grove
    • 18 hours cooldown.
    • Works in a 5x5 area.
    • Ages all trees and bushes to at least mature, overaged and shriveled are de-aged to very old. 
    • Makes sprouts grow on trees and bushes.
    • Makes trees and bushes that produce anything harvestable (regardless of season).
    • Makes flowers pop up on grass tile.
    • Makes grass grow to "growing wild" stage.
  • Brown potions are back on the traders after receiving some fixes.
    Note: Sometimes new affinities will not show in your skill list until you relog. You will however always see what you gained in your event window.
  • New items that can be planted in planters: Nettles, sassafras, woad, cocoa bean, nutmeg, blueberry, lingonberry, raspberries, all mushrooms.
  • Farwalker stones and twigs can now be sold to token for 4.5s.
  • Fixed bug with processed food items in FSBs reverting back to raw when taken out.
  • Pruning and harvesting trees/bushes can now be done while mounted.

 

Easter is upon us!

 

Easter is here, and with it the Easter bunnies have arrived to litter our lands with their weird, colored, eggs!

You can find eggs just laying on the ground, by foraging (once per character) and even in some creature dens.

 

White Dragon + Goblin Leader hunt today

 

The goblin leader and white dragon have been located on Otherland server by Mistvengery, and the masses cry for their death!
 

When: 18:00 UTC / 14:00 EDT today (16/04) COUNTDOWN

 

Where: Otherlands server, SW corner, the mountain south of Shark Tooth Island.

Server Update - 21/04/2017 (that i forgot to post)

  • Player zombies should now be less persistent in their undeath.
  • Bashing houses on HotS server without permission is now not allowed. (This never was intentional)
  • Breeding and Rummaging action timers are now affected by the action time multiplier (= faster).

 

Also we have a green drake slaying today at 18:00 UTC, at the event area next to Iras (the spawn deed on walden).

Our test server for the new update is up! 

To see the new stuff you will need the beta client from steam.

The server is running all the usual mods and settings from the live server (+ updates for the beta).
The server is a copy of Walden with all the player/items/deeds/etc. data. If you have a deed on Walden you can test the new building stuff right at your home. 
If you were on Otherland when i did the copy you will have your character in it's state last time it was on Walden placed near the portal.

Sandstone veins should start popping up over the next few hours (~1/64 of all rock tiles will become sandstone), there's also a huge (30k hits) sandstone vein placed at the public mine.

Server Update - 28/04/2017

  • Rainbow unicorns!
  • New item: Circlet of protection - provides protection equivalent of a steel greathelm, while not looking like a bucket. Improves with JC. Silver lump + small anvil to start.
  • New item: Warhammer - 1 handed weapon with about the same damage as a longsword, uses warhammers skill. Made with large maul head + shaft.
  • Players with >50 animal husbandry and taming skills can now lead and ride unicorns without taming and will not be aggroed by hell horses.
  • Aggressive animals will no longer attack other players while mounted, led or hitched. This does not apply to the rider/leader if he doesn't have the above bonus, or Fo passive.
  • Creatures will no longer eat unique corpses.
  • Fatigue was disabled.
  • Breeding timer now has a minimum length of 5 seconds.
  • Tar, peat and moss will give 20kg when digged.
  • Moss can be planted while mounted.
  • Cross server and kingdom PMs are forced on permanently for everyone. People who really don't want to be bothered can still disabled PMs altogether if they choose so.

Server Upgrade (Extended downtime) - 06/05/2017 07:00 UTC

 

Thanks to generous donations from a few awesome people we are getting a new server with significantly faster CPU and an SSD drive.

 

The servers will be down for the migration for about 10-20 minutes starting at Saturday, 06 May around 07:00 UTC

The two bastards have been terrorizing the HotS server for way too long, it's time for us to kill them (or get smashed trying).

Meeting at Irkalla (otherlands spawn), you can come by either boats or the portal.

We will go south to Kyklops first, then sail over to the other side and go north to the Forest Giant

Bring your best gear, vesseled gems for healing, etc. The fights are going to be tough.

Server migration complete and we're back up.

Maps site will be available once DNS changes propagate (hopefully within an hour...)

 

Also a small update:

 

  • You can now reinforce cave walls using a mallet activated, it will take either a support beam or the materials to make one (2 log, 2 ribbons, 4 shafts) from your inventory or cart and do it all in one action.

  • 15 new cooking recipes added (special thanks to Crisaria for posting tons of recipes and Envious for JSON-ifying them)
  • Fixed new reinforce using materials not working on cave floors and spamming permission errors in event tab.

Server Update 17/05/2017

 

  • Permanent Rifts have been added to both servers, look for red beam in the sky or red markers on the map.
  • Mobs in rift area are meant for advanced players with descent gear and high FS. When killed they will have a chance to drop a new reagent (arcane shards) directly to your inventory, the shards are used in crafting...
  • ... Bonus Jewelry - the first 5 items have been added and are now craftable. 

    • Ring of the warrior (up to +2 CR bonus)
    • Ring of stamina (less drain, up to 30%)
    • Ring of dodging (increases chance, up to 10%)
    • Necklace of focus (easier to focus in combat, up to 20%)
    • Necklace of replenishment (reduces food and water drain, up to 30%)

    Mechanics:
     
    • Bonus jewelry can be crafted using seryll, star gems and a new rare reagent dropping from monsters on the rift islands.
    • Bonus jewelry can be improved with JS and repaired.
    • Bonuses scale with QL linearly (so if you get 30% at 100ql, you'll get 3% at 10ql).
    • Rare items will provide higher bonuses (the numbers above are for non-rare 100ql)
    • Items have charges. A charge is consumed every time you equip the item then 1 per hour afterwards.
    • Items can be recharged using gems, 10ql per hour. Recharging will also damage the item.

     
  • Arcane shards can also act as a permanent, plantable light source.
  • Most creatures can now be dominated and/or charmed. This doesn't apply to uniques, and a few special mobs (like sea serpents).
  • Clean roosters can now be wrapped for reduced decay.
  • Treasure chests will no longer contain traps and lockpicks.

Server Update - 21/05/2017

  • New trader item: Piping kit - Allows a fountain or well placed anywhere to auto-fill with water like on a water tile.
  • New trader item: Heraldic certificate - Allows setting texture on items to images of various kingdoms
    • Supports all base kingdoms and PMKs that have their own imagery
    • Currently works on: Wagons, flags, banners (both types), military tents and pavilions (only some kingdoms)
    • Currently doesn't work on tabards and towers, might or might not be changed in the future.
  • Sermons will now push alignment towards the listeners god preference, regardless of performers deity. (So lib get negative, even if listening to WL, and vice versa)
  • Bonus jewelry can now have rarity transfered from bones
  • /random rolls are now broadcast in 10 tile radius and go into their own tab
