I can't lead a newly re-branded horse [Fixed]

Recommended Posts

I logged into the new permissions and noticed my horse was no longer branded.  I heated up my branding iron and branded my horse while I was on my deed.  I activated my rope and the lead option was not there.  I removed the brand from the animal management menu (my horse is cared for by me) and I could once again lead him.  I checked the village permissions, and I can indeed brand and lead and all sorts of other things, including check the village permissions (which is normal for me).

The only thing I can think is my horse has never had a bridle.  Perhaps there is something to do with that.

Thanks!

Dorian, there is an issue with branding, but I'm happy you provided the leading details as well since it may help the devs find the issue!  Adding to the bug report now.

Update to this issue...  I can now brand an animal on deed and lead it, but I can not ride it.

To re-create this issue, brand a horse on your deed, activate a rope, lead the horse (fixed from previous issue ty), right click on the horse you are leading and select ride and you will see a message like this..[17:39:17] You are not allowed to mount the Venerable fat Faithsouth as a driver.

It does not appear to matter if you are the one caring for the animal or not.  I'm caring for Faithsouth, and tried the manage permissions option to see if I had to set specific permissions of the horse, but no window opens when I select the manage option from the animal management menu that I get by right clicking on my body.

The only way to ride the horse is to remove the brand.

Thanks!

Are you the mayor of the deed, Dorian?   If not, I'm guessing the animals are 'managed by the settlement' which means either your mayor has to give you 'manage allowed items' permission or needs to set permissions on each animal.

Alectrys, are you sure about that? I have "Managed Allowed Items" permission on my deed, but I still can't ride an animal I just branded. Also, when trying to manage that horse, when I click "Manage Permissions" the window just disappears entirely without a message in my event log.

Ostentatio, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure about anything anymore from day to day.

I just tried on live with myself and an alt and the mayor can ride but the alt cannot.  Let me play with settings and let you know if I can get it to work.  In the meantime, I'll log this as a bug.   (I've reproduced the disappearing manage window as well).

I assume it's a bug because if I couldn't manage, I assume it would either disallow me from checking that animal and pushing the Manage button, or would give me some kind of error... not to mention it probably wouldn't let me unbrand, but I don't know about that.

Thanks for the assistance though.

I've tested again and here are my results:

Mayor can lead and ride branded animals.

My alt with every permission ticked can only lead.

However, once I managed a particular horse and allowed by name my citizens, they were then permitted to ride.

If I gave the manage permission, they could also manage.

So but bug here is the general 'manage allowed items' issue not working correctly.

For now, have your mayor expressly grant you permission by name to ride and/or manage.

Thanks for the reports.

Thanks Alectrys!  I'll have our mayor fix some of our horses when he wakes up.   :D

I regret to inform you that neutering animals is not in the game yet.

Dorian, I believe a few issues with branding have been fixed by now.  I'm going to close this bug as I know it has been addressed.  If you find another, please do open another report so we can narrow down any remaining issues.  Thank you!
