To the statue thief...

Recommended Posts

I returned to Exodus after a few months, only to find my Nogump statue stolen from Black Pearl village.

I don't care who it was that stole it, i don't care why or what disputes they had with the mayor or whoever but the statue belonged to me personaly and not the village or mayor.

I would like that  statue to be returned to teh spot it was taken from.  Thank you.

This would be the true test of a man, if he returns it, you have yourself a worthy wurmian.

Hope you get it back.

A worthy wurmian wouldn't have taken it in the first place. B)

I thought only the one who planted it could take it? Like bsb's etc...

That is a bug at tbe least... Can it be locked like a bsb? Putting some item in it and locked would prevent loading

What is the point of planting it if someone can just come and load it up???  Really needs to be fixed. We can't have to fence everything in. Looks like garbage then.

Don't think they can be loaded on a deed though

Or signs to deeds that no longer exist. Please allow expensive things like these HOTA and small magic chests to be planted down and unmovable except by the planter and maybe the mayor. The turrets too, make them not molestable. Please.

If you are referring to the citizens of Broutpost and Holy Broman Empire, who have no permissions (load or pickup) on your deed, we had absolutely nothing to do with your statue. While it is true that we have had issues with your mayor, I think JakeRivers is probably right about your statue.

Edit: We have also had things stolen from our deed -- a cart with a rare basinet helm and 4 backpacks with gems in them. I won't name and shame here but I'll bet it was the same person who took your statue.

I did not say who it was because i have no idea. Clearly, someone made a fresh alt and posted as a new player with an intention to join the village and steal what they can.

It's nothing we haven't seen before.

As for the people of above mentioned deeds, Hello. how are you...

Because I think they're perfect for leaving out food for newbies, but that means anyone can just take them entirely. On the deeds where I usually put newbies, I don't have a large chest out for them. And if it was locked, they wouldn't be able to get in there and get at the food. It's a newbie fridge but I want to be able to plant it down and not worry about it.

Other than the goods that were stolen from us we're doing well. Thanks for asking.

something like a hota statue is best left inside your house with access limited if you are going to invite random people to your village

FYI

I see the mention of this bug here, but when I look on the actual Bug forum, the only post that references it is over a year old.

I would recommend a bump of that thread with added information, if any.

Also as Jake said, your best bet for HOTA statues is to place them in a structure of some kind, or make sure they are on-deed and your load/pick up permissions set appropriately. You can also fence them off completely, which would then require a bashing of the fence in order to pick it up. If this is done, ensure that the fences are on-deed and far enough from high points/perimeter as to prevent jumping into the fence. Getting out is another problem for a would-be thief, but it isn't a risk I would take.

The bug referenced (or wogic feature) is that offdeed hotas can be loaded, unlike other planted items. This wasn't the case here, this was on deed, as far as I understand. On a deed, anyone with loading permissions can load. I think that is and should remain intended behavior.

There is another issue here though: normally I'd expect that if you make an arched walled house, 1x1, and add the statue in it, no one can take it if they're not on the writ. Currently, this appears to not happen, someone with loading permissions on deed but not house writ can still load. That is planned to be solved with the updates of the permissions system.

It wouldn't help directly this case, because this statue wasn't in any house, locked or unlocked, but it will make it easier to just drop a house of any kind around stuff you want kept, when you leave loadable items on a deed where you have no control over villagers to be invited.

Well, on a deed not your own gates might be set for villagers to always pass, therefore the same case as here can happen: villager can pass and load. No bashing required.

Ah, no - my fence suggestion is that others have built fences all around the statue. I've heard chain works well as it's low enough and still bars movement. The mayor just has to bash one down when they need to grab the statue again.

Ah that sounds great to me. It'd be pretty enough too (imo). That would have worked in this case, from what I understand. (I think bashing permission to villagers is rare, definitely more rare than loading)

Hi Froggy.  I'm really sorry to hear that your statue was stolen.  As the sole merchant for HOTA stautes, Mol-Rehan would like to offer you a free replacement.  Feel free to drop me a PM, or post in our merchant thread to arrange collection from our deed on west Deliverance.

The one thing that is an issue with fencing Hota in is that people use them to store meals for their villagers to eat. You can't use the Hota as it is fenced in.  It is just plain dumb that someone can take your Hota but not pick up a lamp. Can't wait for the new permissions.  We have stopped taking in new villagers and only have allied deeds of our villagers, because you never know who your allies will take in as villagers and that leaves you vulnerable.

Lola, the statue was on deed. You CAN take both lamps and hotas if you have permissions on the deed. I don't think new permissions is going to change that. It will add different permissions for picking up stuff dropped and picking up stuff planted and loading, that will allow you a more fine grained control indeed.

I see your point on the fence.
