looking to come back

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I am looking to come back to wurm after quite some time.I will be starting with no equipment (not even a knife :() but have good skills.

My question is should I stay on indie or move server? I used to love indie when it was busy but it seems pretty dead right now.

Thanks

Don't go to xanadu if you don't like lag. There are daily lagg spikes.

Ok cool. Is indie still going or is it on its way out

I think as people get sick of the lag on Xanadu they will migrate back to Inde or Deliverance.

Many people have already started migrating back to inde, deli and even exo. There is a lot of benefits to inde not being so crowded right now. Good hunting, lots of unused land, and the best part is the people playing the server are the committed ones. They are great for conversation, help, and also for advice. Personally I say stay inde.

Thanks. I've been wondering around trying to find a good spot to settle its been tricky! I'm a renowned black smith and have many other heigh skills but all I have is steel and wool Plus a rake. It's making things tricky,I'm around freedom market. Any location suggestions?

I never have any lag problems on xanadu

You do, you just probably don't notice it.

On Xanadu, use a char with full food, water and health to do an action. When the action is complete, take notice of the fact that it takes a minimal amount of 3 seconds to regain your stamina to full again.

Every other server has a 2 second wait between actions.

I think as people get sick of the lag on Xanadu they will migrate back to Inde or Deliverance.

The people who were willing to move back have already done so. The ones remaining most likely aren't going to ditch out unless the server was closed.

If you want to be on a very active developing server then Xanadu is the place to be. Yes, there is a problem with lag there which sometimes spikes up but I have not seen this as being any different as when Deliverance and especially Pristine opened. The lag and freezing on Pristine was actually much worse. This just seems typical of new server openings and as the Dev's are aware and working on it, it will eventually be reduced over time.

The difference with Xanadu is that it is a huge server with vast areas of open land to settle on that has attracted players from all servers. Also, there are 10! starter Villages on it, so with an alt one can easily suicide around to each one and explore the local area to find which appeals the most to settle down in. To me this is the great advantage that Xanadu provides, especially to new players or even returning ones like yourself, once they can arrange to travel to it.

Don't be dissuaded by the disgruntled few who have left because they can not tolerate this current lag situation and hype it up to a point where they attempt to discourage anyone from living there. I have moved from Independence where I started playing years ago to Xanadu and I would never return there again. Xanadu offers far more opportunity for enjoyment for anyone if they have the patience to realize that not all problems will be resolved on their time schedules.

Safe Travels

It is true that Xanadu has a lot of advantages to it. My reason for leaving Xanadu had nothing to do with the lag. As a matter of fact the lag after only a few weeks because not only tolerable but nearly non-existent as you quickly become accustomed to it as the norm. The biggest downfall for myself on Xanadu was because of the size of the server itself. It is massive. To do any sort of significant traveling can take a day, and sometimes even a couple of days depending on destination, travel method and weather, to get from your starting location to your destination and back. This alone is what deterred me from Xanadu. Additionally, Xanadu is very market driven. It is a new server so a good amount of players have become hell bent on maximizing their coin intake and have otherwise forgotten other aspects of the fact that this is a sandbox mmorpg. These are my opinions, and this does not apply to EVERY person on Xanadu, there are still many great players there. If you return to Xanadu find yourself a good community of players or start your own deed or community. Be aware though as many of the players on the server are also new, that loyalties need to be with caution. It seems that there is a higher instance of back stabbing on this server because many players are new to this sort of game environment and do not consider the impact that theft can have towards a player.

Again these are just my opinions and do not reflect any specific players, deeds, markets, or communities on Xanadu. I hope you have a good return to Wurm, and most of all HAPPY WURMING!!!!!

My village on Inde would be happy to have you if you're looking to co-op for a bit. We haven't had a new villager in a while and the area we're in is under a lot of development from new neighbors as of late.
