Some compensation for FW amulets.

Recommended Posts

Farwalker amulets may no longer be used with enemy players present

From news.

I'm not here to debate wether or not farwalkers should work with enemies in local or not but I think it would really be a good idea to give some sort of compensation for people that have them; many people paid very large amounts of silver/euros for these items which have been suddenly nerfed and basically serve no PvP purpose. Some people also purchased very large amounts of them expecting them to retain their value (not me fwiw)

Something like 1s/charge would be fair and is actually considerably below the previous market value; but better than nothing.

Thoughts?

no, your not losing your farwalker amulet. You just can't use them in pvp. Changes happen.

Deal with it

Good change. Everyone knows that I love my farwalker as much as the next PvPer but I don't think anyone was under the illusion that they would stay the same forever. I'm just surprised they weren't changed years ago.

+1. As somebody who just bought one recently for a hefty amount thinking they would be here to stay (seeing as they've been ingame for 6+ years) I feel a bit cheated :(

Being somebody newer to the game, I had no idea these would get changed, so figured it would be a nice investment. It's sad now that the money has pretty much just gone down the drain.

-1. It was given out for free and people made the price, not GM-s, so.. no. Otherwise there should be alot more compensations when something is changed and becomes less effective.

You're complaining about an item you got for free, being changed so that it's no longer a "save-your-ass failsafe", and to top it all off you want to receive "compensation" for it? There's nothing to even compensate, these items were given out for free. If you bought one, that was outside the game and you did so on your own accord knowing full-well that things get changed and nerfed daily in Wurm, and that Farwalkers were entirely overpowered as anyone obviously knew who spent an absurd amount of real-life money on them, yeah? Hilarious. You should be grateful that you were able to use them to cheat death as long as you did. Get over yourself, please.

In short, -1, but I don't even think this needs opinions.. its a borderline troll-post. The hypocrisy here is both hysterical and overwhelmingly mind-numbing at the same time.

It's true that the players gave the items value by paying such insane prices for them but the truth is most people thought they were here to stay; they had been ingame for 6 years as others have said and no indication was given that they were going to be nerfed.

I only 'lost' around 150 euro so this change didn't hurt me that much but there are people out there that had purchased 10+ farwalker amulets under the assumption they were going to stay ingame and literally just threw hundreds if not thousands of euros away. You can say it was foolish for them do to it if you like and it probably was but again these items had been ingame for 6 years and most people assumed they would be around to stay just like spyglasses; BoK's; MBoK's, scale, drake etc - many eventually accepted the fact that it was unfortunately just another one of those items you needed to purchase to become competitive and wasted their money.

I think the comparison with purchasing a character with skill being changed is not a good one because in that situation you still have the skill and can make full use of it; on the other hand farwalkers serve practically no purpose on a PvP server anymore; it's like the skill was changed to 0.

Furthermore I'm not suggesting people get their 'money back' - it wouldn't cost Rolf anything to give silver coins as refunds; noone is asking for euros.

I wouldnt mind some compensation for the people that forked out money for them.

Maybe some addy/glimmer and rare seryll in a cart? :D

That's the risk of buying.

If scale/drake suddently drops half in price, do i get 2k euros to make up for the difference? Probably not..

I've heard/seen this happen in other games, anything can change at any time. Sorry for the loss.

If anyone is wanting to sell their FW amulet for 1s/charge i will be happy to buy them. Because that is was the suggested compensation is. Send me a PM.

There have been people who bought deeds with a penned dragon. Then they changed the rules so dragons are no longer pennable. They didnt get their money back either...

So -1

It was given for free, if you bought the FW amulets, ask the salesman for some compensation.

The farwalker amulet was a gift given out by Santa to all premium players who visited him during the week of Christmas 2007.

When used, the amulet will give the player the unstoppable condition for 30 seconds.

Doesnt it work like that still?

(except with enemy players present)

Knowing a month in advance would have alleviated some of the moaning and groaning, shame this wasnt done a couple of years ago, onwards and upwards!

This item wasnt for free really. It was xmax gift that was given years ago for staying in Wurm and paying premium when there were not that many accounts as now.

I like that change because even if i had one it always seemed like too op advantage in pvp to me.

However some kind of compesation should happen because some people paid for it alot of money.

+1 getting rid off one boost though

Can't be used within Enemy Presence? Whoa.  This sounds.. sounds.. GAME CHANGING.

I foresee many scale sets and drake sets to drop from this.

I would have been happy with just it letting you take fall damage, but hey-ho!

There is no way that anyone that reads these forums didn't anticipate this happening eventually. This literally finds its way into every single pvp balance discussion in the top most requested changes and always got poo-poo'ed by the Pay-to-Win crowd. Now Rolf needs to follow up with removing trader draining.

Sorry, no compensation for lack of foresight about something NOT sold by the game.
