Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) I think Wurm needs straw. It should be acquired while harvesting any grain plants: barley, oats, rice, rye, or wheat. Personally, I would implement this as .5kg of straw per harvested item, so if you get 3 wheats, you get 1.5kg of straw; 4 wheats nets 2kg of straw, etc. Maybe if you let your farm go too long and it dies, while clearing it out, you can still gain straw. Straw has many practical real world uses, but could also have nearly as many uses in Wurm:Baskets - probably self-explanatory, they can hold dry stuff.Bee skeps - if it were up to me, I'd make beehives occasionally spawn in linden trees (bees like linden trees), they could be 'harvested' and installed into a bee skep.Clay brick - they don't currently need straw, but they should.Cob - walls made of clay and straw.Mat - like a rug I guess, it lies there and you walk on it, it could have a purpose, but there doesn't need to be one.Ropes - possibly only basic rope, and maybe with a lower base QL compared to wemp.Roughage? - I'm not sure about this one, maybe grazing animals could eat it, but straw isn't very nutritional.Straw hats - for looking good while harvesting my straw.Straw mattresses - honestly, why beds don't already need these is beyond me...Thatch - an alternative thatch resource.Tinderbox - steel and flint is probably already too ingrained for this, but realistically, you need tinder to start kindling and straw makes good tinder.Toys - toys made of straw. Posted April 30, 2014 Abode is just another word for dwelling. If you mean something like a earth house, 'cob' could include house walls as well. If you meant walls made of straw... that might be a bad idea, black wolves would probably blow them down, especially if you have any pigs inside.
Posted April 30, 2014 He meant "adobe", not "abode" Straw is a bi-product of grains. As such, it would make a nice addition to the game. I like some of the ideas you listed above. It would be great to add those to the game.
Posted April 30, 2014 He meant "adobe", not "abode" Oh, I totally missed that... Yeah, adobe would still fit in with either the clay bricks or cob anyway.
Posted May 16, 2014 ...also, timber frame houses should use straw (not mixed grass).
