  1. Elentari is a monster Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a good Easter break, I know I did! We're still in the follow up phase to our latest update, addressing a few bugs that have arisen as well as the usual post-live tweaks, but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work, but first... Patch Notes Reinforcing in style Reinforced walls are quite boring, and with the introduction of new house walls, our devs got to thinking.... Coming soon to a cave near you, we'll be introducing stylish reinforcements! These will be created with improved reinforcement beams and really decorate your cave! We're also looking at cave floors as well, but no confirmation on that yet. CA Help Merging following some back end changes for us, we'll be merging CA help across all freedom servers next update. once it's done we'll monitor it over the next week or so to ensure that it still flows smoothly and will be able to revert it if it proves to be too chaotic. With this done we'll also begin looking at options for addressing CA help on Epic servers, and will be working towards a resolution that improves new player experiences on Epic servers while still meeting our conduct requirements. WU beta We're still in the process of ironing out some bugs appearing within the new housing update, and once theyre done we'll have a beta up for WU, we expect that to be available within the week, with the live version following shortly after Gloomshade revamp Excited to play with the new walls, Enki and I had our turn updating the starter deeds, and this time it was Gloomshades turn! The HotS Elevation starter deed has been given a bit of a revamp, and I'm totally biased) Community Content This weeks community content I found while looking through the huge collection of WU screenshots, and it has to be the most amazing wagon design I've ever seen. I don't know what server it's from, but if it's yours, let me know so I can update this! Future PMK's, take note! That's it for this weekend, I hope you all have a good weekend, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  2. And we're live with the new housing update! I know everyone's busy hunting sandstone and making bricks (red brick for me!) so this week will be a short recap before the Easter long weekend, but first... Patch Notes Housing update Naturally the big part of this update is the huge expansion to house types, and I'm excited to see just what you all come up with now, I know that there are other desired wall types and fences and we'll keep this in mind as we move forward. We're always expanding and addressing limitations as we meet them and this is no different. We will undoubtedly continue to provide more options as time goes on, just plenty else to work on as well while we do. Easter We're nearing the eve of the anniversary of the horrific bunny massacre of 2016, and I'd like to take the moment to wish you all a happy and safe Easter, don't party too hard on the chocolate eggs! Hot Cross buns! We've also released a new recipe for hot cross buns to celebrate Easter! Hot cross buns are my favourite part about Easter, and I think it's pretty cool to see some more holiday themed recipes come in, we may just do more later... WU Beta With the launch of the housing update, we'll begin looking at a WU beta to come out in the next week or two with the update, there's a few changes to things that may need some modders to check in the beta but it shouldn't last long before going live. Community Contest winner! There were quite a few good entries, and it came close to some (Who doesnt love Star Wars references?) but the winner of this contest is MacOofer with the following: To claim your prize, shoot me a PM MacOofer! The amount of people who took the time to add their ideas was awesome, will definitely have to repeat this in the future! There's a lot more already being worked on, and I'm keen to begin sharing it with you all in preparation for its launch, but that may be a few weeks away still. I'll be back next week with more news and showing off just what we've been up to on our side, but until then week, keep on Wurming! Happy Easter, Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  3. Milosanx on a rare trip down to water level Hey everyone! This week saw the changes to conversion come live, and the positive feedback has been noticed! We're working on a few things and will have more to share as they flesh out, but one thing is coming to the test server this weekend! but first... Patch Notes The Cowtapult! Those of you who follow us on Facebook may have already seen this, but we've been hard at work improving siege weapon mechanics, and first up is the catapult and trebuchet! Catapults and trebuchets should damage creatures, houses, fences, bridges and items that the projectile hits Clarification: It will hit ALL walls if it hits multiple. It will only hit one non wall item on the tile it lands on The new mechanics for them operate similarly to how they currently work, with focus on improving how the physics calculations are performed and remove those weird cases where they don't hit anything. We'll be setting up some testing scenarios such as house on a tall dirt wall and such over the weekend for you to check out, but we'd also like to know what scenarios you want to check out, so feel free to share ideas that you'd like us to setup for you to test. Our priority is getting all of them tested with different projectiles, distances and skill levels in PvP and PvE Scenarios both on and off deed to ensure they're balanced when they go live, so stay tuned for the test thread opening some time this weekend Variety is the spice of life Not one to rest on their laurels, the devs have been working hard on a long desired addition to the building, new house walls! This is a huge addition, with six new building types: Rendered wall Marble wall Pottery brick wall Round brick wall Sandstone brick wall Slate brick wall Pottery and sandstone Round stone and Rendered Marble and Slate That's not all though, there's new fence types to match the housing types, as well as a few additions and changes the paving! there will be a few new paving types, as well as a few changes to existing ones: Round cobble will use a new item round stone (same as round brick housing) Rough cobble will use Colossus bricks Slate slabs will be created by a chisel on combined slate shards like other slabs and some new pavement types you'll have to wait and see! The basics are up (without graphics) for internal testing, we'll have more info on the new types and a full list in next weeks news, this was far too exciting not to share though! Community Content This weeks community content is about a lost horse! Poor Rageed traveled off on his own one fateful night, and sparked fear for his safety in the heart of Ayuna, who cared for him. Luckily though, he was recovered safe and sound! Have you had a favourite pet? That's it from us this week, I'll see some of you on test, but until then, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  4. Hear ye hear ye! and welcome to the latest edition of the Valrei International, filling you in on what's been going on and what's in store for all Wurmians! Make a date! With final testing on siege weapons underway and the new housing in the works we're able to set the date for the next update! Pending any issues with the implementation of the graphics we have scheduled the next update for the 13th of April, so make sure you're all stocked up and ready to roll! Spot something? Community Assistant admin changes We've had a few delays in pushing this out, but we're making a few changes to CA administration and CA help. Lead Chat Moderator Shrimpiie will be taking over the admin duties of the CA team, bringing them back into the fold of the LCM team and he will be handling the application processes from now. We'll also be looking at taking steps towards merging CA help across all freedom servers in order to ensure that we have the absolute best coverage as we can. This means that if a CA is on anywhere they'll be able to answer questions and provide support, and also means we can track the helpful players and drag recruit them into the CA team! The transition has been a tad delayed so I'd like to apologise to those who are waiting to hear back on their CA applications, and we'll work on having them all processed as soon as possible. Sign of the times Next update will also include text on signs in WO! they've been in WU for some time, so we're glad to see them come to WO as well New tiles! Well, last week teased the new tiles, but showed no graphics, so I'm pleased to share the new graphics here! Those of you with a keen eye will notice that the sandstone slab floor is the old stone slab floor, the new stone slab floor for houses will have the same grey stone texture as the tile slabs, and sandstone slab floors in houses will have the current stone slab textures. Based on feedback concerns about sandstone availability, I can confirm that sandstone will now be a vein type, and can be created with a transmutation rod! Siege weapon testing Seige weapon testing continues over the weekend with release planned for next week, so make sure to continue testing and giving feedback, there's plenty of supplies to do so on the PvP server and PvE server, if you need anything else, just post on the thread or jump in IRC! Valrei spawn tweaks Next update will tweak how valrei creatures spawn, instead of spawning 10 in one area, they will be spawned in a wider area across the server, avoiding the congestion of many in one place becoming too hard to overcome. This will hopefully improve the valrei creatures being somewhat annoying on epic as we work on addressing them individually in a future update Community Content Contest So with the new houses coming next week I'm sure you're all itching to get your hands on them and build them all, but what will you use? It just so happens that I have a very shiny trowel that needs a new home, and I'm giving you all the chance to win it! To win this beauty, we'll be having a contest for this weeks community content, it's caption time! Simply provide a caption to this image, and whoever wins will be the brand new owner of this supreme steel trowel, with a 100(!) BotD cast. We'll also be running this on Facebook, so get on there and submit your captions too! That's it for this week, I hope you're all busy preparing for the deed remodeling! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  5. House of Kha - Affliction Hi Everyone! Another week down and more action on the test server, with siege weapon testing underway and some people snooping around at the updated housing (no graphics yet though!). Time to fill you in on what's been going on in the world of Wurm. Samool Joins the dev team! I'd like to give a big welcome to our newest volunteer dev Samool! Samool has been a member of the volunteer team for some time, and has stepped in to help with optimising and improving the new client. I'd like to give him a warm welcome to the dev team and look forward to seeing his work on the new client come out! Sandstone Some clever people on test have worked out we have a new rock tile, Sandstone! Sandstone will be randomly seeded on rock tiles throughout the world, and have 40-50 hits in each, and the shards can be made into sandstone bricks or slabs. Check out a preview of the sandstone slab tile here: Siege weapon testing Siege testing on the test servers continues, with several changes already in, and battering rams now added! There's been a lot of work on improving how catapults and trebuchets work, improving the usefulness of archery towers and turrets, and now battering rams have been added to testing. I've been building some test scenarios for the weekend of testing, including deed walls and token pits, so make sure to jump on and check it out! Full thread can be found here: New pavement Along with the new walls, is new pavement! Adding to the potential pavement list is Slate slabs (existing slate slabs will be changed to slate brick tiles), sandstone brick and slab tiles, marble brick tiles, and pottery brick tiles. This means a lot more new options for decorating your deed, and making your place truly unique! Cave dwelling changes Of course, some have asked about how the additional houses will have any effect on underground housing, and the answer is, yes! With this update all housing options will be available for underground dwellings, meaning you can build your underground village just how you want it! Dredging changes Also in an upcoming patch, we'll be improving dredging with some long desired changes. Dredging will now have an option to flatten or level tiles, and also dredging will deposit dirt straight into your boat! This will only work if there's space in the dredge, but these two changes will definitely make dredging a lot easier! Hedges Removing hedges will become a lot easier next update, with the ability to cut down a hedge with an axe! The damage dealt will be dependent on the ql and height of the hedge, but should improve removing those pesky remains from fallen deeds. Community Content This weeks community content is another video by kaydawg, with his video of setting up in Wurm online. I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction and will definitely be waiting for more! A close second is the timelapse video of MootRed's new deed, i have a special spot for timelapse videos, they really show just how much can be done in the game! that's it for this week from us, we're working towards a big update with a lot of awesome changes, so stay tuned! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  6. Nowe Wszczniesz by Warlander Top of the morning to ye Wurmians! It's another Valrei International, keeping you up to date with everything going on in your world, so let's get to it! In light of some discussions this week, I'd like to go over a few things we're working on, while the PvP roadmap coming later will have a bit more info on some things. PvP updates There's a lot in the works with PvP related overhauls, including the Valrei system as well as priests and spells. These projects are currently under the way as we speak, but these are not simple tasks. Many factors include identifying how the system is supposed to work, what does and doesn't work with the current system, what we want the system to be and how we want it to work and how prospective changes would fit in with the rest of the game. Once we have a firm plan ironed out, we'll then begin involving you all in feedback and testing, seeing what needs to be tweaked and adjusted, as well as looking at the overall feel of it and how it meshes in. We completely understand that this is frustrating when you're waiting for it, but it does take time, we'll be seeing a few minor things going out to tone down the effects of valrei (Such as removing terraforming events next update) as well as reducing stun timers from nogumps and other creatures (last update). There's a lot to go through and we'll continue to work on it, as well as work to make sure that you all are kept up to date with what's going on. We're committed to improving PvP, and we'll be providing a bit more PvP oriented road map soon, with Budda breaking out his thesaurus to work on his first devblog! I don't know when that will land, but stay tuned! Conversions So many of you might have seen the thread about HotS conversions to player gods where we agreed that it was a less than ideal system. The task we face now is rewriting the outdated conversion system with one that performs better, and makes a bit more sense. This system will allow HotS players to follow player gods, I'm not sure whether it will be BL only player gods or include WL ones, and more info will be given prior to release, but I wanted to share with you all that the current system will be changed fairly soon, being on test within the next two weeks or so. Unstable is a bit more stable! Good news everyone! We've managed to identify and resolve the disconnect issue with the unstable client! This opens the door for us to address the other issues that arise with the new client, and begin the final bug fixing prior to it becoming the stable client. So please do test it out and play on it and provide all feedback on performance and crashing issues you encounter. If you don't test it now when it's unstable you might encounter an issue when it goes live, and that means trouble! One important thing to remember is there are several new settings in the new client, including shadow map size, and dynamic lighting. Both of these improve the look and feel of the game greatly, but do also impact performance if you run on the lower end, so I'd advise starting with a new configuration, and tweaking it as it goes. Grab the unstable client and give it a go here: http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient_unstable.jnlp Xanadu Improvements We've isolated a few issues causing Xanadu's lag, and some may have noticed that things occur a little faster on Xanadu than they used to (coal piles burning!) We've got some other things in the works to address them, and hopefully they improve performance as well! Community Content And Milosanx returns with a new video from wu! It's always great to see videos from him, and it's a good overview of the new Otherlands server, which opened with the release of 1.3, so check it out! Vortac and Weem have also been hard at work with their Follywood series, which I have enjoyed greatly (and pestered several people with links to) So make sure you check those out as well! That's it from me this week, so have a good weekend everyone, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  7. Foggy Docks Hi Everyone, A huge week for WU, with 1.3 finally landing, and what an impact! I've seen fantastic meals, pink bee hives, and cows no taller than your knee (the mods some people think of!) We've got a bit to cover though, so here goes! But first... Patch notes Deliverance maintenance On the 11th of march at 1400 server time we'll be taking down deliverance for some extended maintenance to address the hanging issues that have occurred recently. This will be a slightly longer maintenance, at around 2-3 hours, so if you want to play, maybe it's time to take a holiday to Exodus, or Release! 1.3 in WU and sale Wurm Unlimited has been abuzz this week with 1.3 finally landing, it's taken a while but WU is now filled with al lthe awesome content we've had for a few months. If you're looking to get in on the action, it's currently on sale at 33% off! We'll also be looking at more WU specific subforums over the coming weeks, for WU specific suggestions, and bettert bug reporting too, so keep eyes peeled. More animations Today also sees more animations come to the game, with the following being introduced: Groom Pull Throw (combat and snowballs) Take Drop These will continue to create that more immersive feel when playing and we'll continue to look at animations that increase that as we go on. Hell horse and horse gear This update also saw the hell horse colours, as well as hell horse equipment and bridles (bridles are awaiting a client update due out shortly!) The hell horse colours are incredibly awesome, and I have to say, this one is definitely my favourite, but which is it? dun dun dun.... Esert makeover As many of you know, we ran the Esert starter deed makeover competition this week, and a clear winner by a mile was the redesign! I'm keen to see this design come to life, so congratulations to Joelle and crew. You'll have to keep your eyes peeled on the area! Community content So this weeks community content is a little different. With 1.3 out in WU youtube streamer Weem is back, and this time he brought friends! Weem did a fantastic series of WU on the Mythmoor server and starting tomorrow he's launching his new series - called Follywood - on the otherlands server. I can't wait to see it, and in the mean time, I strongly suggest checking out his previous series here: That's it from me this week, I hope you all have an awesome weeekend cooking and crafting, and as always, keep on Wurming! - Retrograde & the Wurm team
  8. I actually forget who did this one but I really like it Hi Everyone! An exciting weekend ahead of us as we near the final countdown towards 1.3 landing in Wurm Unlimited! so before all that, let's catch up on a few things Wurm Unlimited webpage Now we've had http://www.wurmunlimited.com since the launch, but it's been mostly a landing page for this time. That's about to change though! We'll be using it as the devblog page for news about WU, as well as other giveaways and features, along with full detail patch notes and beta releases. Our dev blogs can be found at : http://www.wurmunlimited.com/category/devblog/ Major reason for this is it doesn't fit in with the Wurm Online news (and gets lost) and we'd like a place away from Steam (1.3's patch notes exceed the 32,000 character limit!) So expect that site to get it's makeover soon! WU 1.3 release As you all probably know, the big WU release is nearing it's time with the 6th of march set as the date. The update will most likely be around midday CET, but we'll put a time up in #wurmunlimited when we know for sure. Catching up Some of you may remember the post about clearing the dust of 2016 and addressing the "niru case" back at the end of the year, that's not forgotten! We're currently looking at what we can do and formulating a plan on how we go about achieving our goals. Players trading is a huge part of this game and it's unfortunate when some take advantage of others, I'm glad to see many do still work with each other with trust. Choose your recipe! Of course we now have the voting up for the recipe competition for 1.3 in WU! Pick your favourite recipe and the top three winners will get their names on the recipe ingame! These recipes will also come to WO, so make sure to pick a good one! Teaser We showed a few hell horse colours last week, but what colour is this?! Community Content - Esert makeover comp So uh, a tad late, but better late than never! The entry is up for voting, and I must say, it looks amazing (I did say it!) Check out and vote here: That's it for this week, we're extremely excited for 1.3 to land in WU, and I know you all are, until then though, keep on wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  9. Lava Fiend by Yldrania Hi everyone! Another week down as we move through February, and we continue with some awesome art updates! But first... Patch Notes Hella Stylish Long awaited updates to hell horses and showing off your gear are on their way! With saroman hard at work, studying under Xzibit , he's gotten the best info on just how to bling out a hell horse! Translation: Saddles and barding will soon be visible! Leather Barding Chain barding Gold chain barding Cloth Barding That's not all though, can you play spot the difference? Tutorial sprucing up As you all know a major overhaul of Golden Valley and the tutorial is in the works, but for the short term we've adjusted a few parts of the tutorial deed, Gateways. Adjusting the flow to make the tutorial a little more obvious, as well as a few building additions. We'll continue to look at what we can tweak in the upcoming days and weeks to make sure the current one is as effective as possible until the new one is ready for testing and release Esert makeover We've had one entry for the Esert makeover, but that just makes things easy! We'll put up the entry in the Esert thread for you all to review, and choose whether to go with the new one or keep the old, expect to see that this weekend! Community Content - Masterchef Wurm style! This week's community content is a little special, because it's the competition to have YOUR recipe wind up in game! Submit your favourite dish, or the meal you loved as a kid, and you could be able to make it in Wurm Unlimted and Wurm Online! We'll be opicking 10 winners from this, and then open up voting to you all to choose the top three! The top three will get their names on the dish in both the Wurm Unlimited and Wurm Online release! Full details here: That's it from me this week, I hope you all have an awesome weekend, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  10. Foggy eclipse, by Nordlys Hi everyone! Another week down, and we move even closer to 1.3 coming live to WU! There's still lots coming to WO though, and I'm excited to share it, but first... patch notes Just to clarify, the base boat speed without wind hierarchy is still: Knarr Caravel Corbita Cog All that has changed is that minimum speeds for the slower boats has been tweaked upwards. This cave entrance ain't big enough for the both of us, yet... Ever feel that one tile just isnt wide enough? Well soon you dont have to worry about that! Thanks to some very hard work, we'll be introducing two tile wide caves! A few things to note: Two tiles is the maximum The bottom slopes MUST BE EVEN before even opening the second one (no tricks of opening to auto flatten the bottom!) Mine doors cannot be used with this system. That's not all Another popular suggestion that's been floating around has been a little more bling to a specific mount... That's right, Coming soon unicorns will be able to be equipped with gold and silver shoes, bridles, saddles and receive the speed bonuses from them! Barding will not be able to be equipped, and the speed will be somewhere between a horse and a hell horse. WU Alpha The alpha testing for the 1.3 WU update is going smoothly with a few bugs reported to be addressed this weekend. We'll also be likely updating WU to the current patch that came out yesterday in the alpha. We're giving away some Steam keys for Wurm unlimited via Twitter and Facebook, so be sure to jump on and share your favourite Wurm tip to be in the running, we'll be giving away more over the coming week too! Community Content This weeks community content has had a fair few contenders, with some amazing shots and locations shared with me, but the one that's blown me away the most has to be the screenshot from @Kasumiof a foggy walnut forest on the unstable client. The atmosphere it sets just excites me and I can't wait until the unstable client is stable! Want to see your content in the weekly news? Shoot me a PM or post it on the forums and you just may wind up featured! That's it for this week, I for one will be trying to keep cool, and looking forward to riding my unicorn with sparkly shoes around! Until then though, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  11. Black Pearl, by Brocules Hi all, Coming straight off the back of an update with lots of cool new things, we're here with this weeks Valrei International, keeping you up to date with what's going on, so lets get into it! But first... Patch Notes Personal goals A few have noticed that their personal goals have changed, and have enquired as to whether this was intended or a bug so I'd like to go into the mechanics of it a little bit and break down what's happened. The way the personal goals work is they are generated from the list each restart, not saved to a database entry, so when new goals were added along with the 1.3 cooking update, the generation was altered. Unfortunately there's no way to rectify this without them changing again, so our plan is to wait until we have more achievements to add and will simply time it all together to minimise the impact of them changing (we'll also give warning!) PayPal issues Currently we have some ongoing issues with PayPal transactions, the issue appears to be on their side and they are currently investigating, we've manually processed the payments made over the past few days. UPDATE: The issue has now been resolved: New animations So with this update a whole bunch of new animations have come! With new fighting animations, as well as general actions, the aim is to improve visual feedback from the game, rather than relying heavily on the event window. More animations will be coming in the next few weeks too, so keep your eyes peeled! Cave testing We ran a short wide cave entrance testing period on Oracle yesterday, and I'd like to thank everyone who attended and checked them out, a few bugs were found and squished in good time, and we're thrilled we were able to release them today. This also raises the question about widening entrances on heritage sites, and after speaking with the GM team, we will be providing support for removing reinforcements on the entrances of heritage sites only. If you wish to widen a heritage site tunnel please log a support ticket and a GM will attend when available. New containers Today's patch saw two new containers come in, the storage unit and the Alchemists cupboard. The storage unit comes with 3 internal containers and is designed to store large capacity and unwieldy items such as saddles and fishing rods, they can hold a fair bit (about 1.5-2x a raft) and look pretty awesome if I may say so! The alchemists Cupboard can hold 10 different liquids, up to 2kgs per flask, and greatly slows decay on its contents. This adds a really nice look to a study in my opinion Community Content This weeks community content is from Brocules, who would like to celebrate the deed of Black Pearl turning 5, and you're all invited! The plans are as follows: I'll be aiming to attend too! (who can resist free booze?) so I hope to see you all there. That's it for this week, there's lots to play with in the latest update and I look forward to decking out my house in the new storage options. Until next time, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  12. Dusks return - Araninke Hi Everyone! Another week down and we're already in February, time is going far too fast, but there's work to be done. Here's what we've been up to! Alchemists Cupboard Ever get sick of storing small amounts of dyes and liquids? Well the Alchemists Cupboard will be right up your alley! The design will be with a focus on storing small amounts of non food liquids with greatly reduced decay, saving you a wax sealing kit or ten! The Alchemists cupboard is awaiting a new model, so stay tuned to see it! Recipe sharing Initially the temporary restriction on sharing recipes was until the system came to WU, giving us a reasonable time frame to allow those who wish to explore the system the opportunity to do so. As 1.3 for WU has been delayed over the past few months, we've decided to remove the restriction now, effective immediately. What we would like is that recipes are shared on the forums with the use of the spoiler tag, and I'd advise that you keep it 1 recipe per spoiler, meaning those who wish to learn one meal don't get the rest ruined. Upcoming updates Two suggestions made recently (one being quite a long term one) are going to soon find their way in the game! Rift Loot and participation At the end of a Rift, if you have more than 60 participation (phenomenal), the lump you receive will be less random ql and weight, and more dependent on your participation score (with a slight amount of random on top of it). Also at the end of a rift, if you have more than 60 points, you'll get an amount of rift resources scaling to your participation points (up to a max of 20 at a participation score of 360). Each of these items will be random between the three rift materials, and the ql will scale based on participation too. Higher participation generally will mean more rift material bits at a higher ql (though there is a slight random added to the final ql of each bit). In line with this, we'll also be tweaking the participation gained from Light of Fo, with a maximum of 15 participation, based on how many players it heals. Blessed Lamps A long standing request is for a way for off deed lamps to autolight. While the suggestion usually considers courier or light token, we've decided to go with bless, as this is available to all priests. Lamps on a paved tille and bless will auto light and not use fuel. This means that highways and off deed areas can remain lit at nights, and provide a much improved experience when travelling. There's some ideas for tunnels, but nothing is set in stone yet, we'll continue to discuss the possibilities and will provide info when it comes. We of course spend a lot of time discussing suggestions, and many of them are good ideas, and would mesh well with the game. The reality of the situation is however many suggestions are incredibly expansive, or require significant investment of dev time, or simply aren't a priority or the focus of the dev team at the moment. We appreciate all time taken to suggest things, and look forward to not aonly seeing more suggestions and discussions, but also to seeing them come into the game! More animations! Saroman has been hard at work with new fighting animations being added, designed to give more visual feedback over what's occurring, the new animations include: Kick Dodge Parry with shield Parry with weapon Shield bash Focus And some more to come. Hopefully this improves how combat feels a bit and creates a bit more immersive action when fighting! Community Content This weeks community content is a little late, but I'd like to recognise Zakerak for his ship impalong, which finished up this week. For the past few months Zakerak has been hard at work imping ships of wurmians who drop by, he's serviced dozens of ships, if not more, and I think that acts like this are awesome, and really show what this community is about, so thank you zakerak! That's it for this week, I'm sure you're all excited to see these things come to the game, and so am I! Until then though, Have a great weekend and keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  13. Hi everyone! Another week down, and another edition of Valrei International! This week we cover a few things, but first, Patch notes! Leafless trees! A long desired change, felled trees now have a beautiful leafless model, meaning no more lost in a sea of tree models! The unstable client will automatically change from the falling tree animation to the static leafless version, but the stable client will require picking up and dropping the tree, or relogging. If you do encounter any bugs or crashes with the 4.0 client, be sure to list the current build number in your bug reports, which is 90ca651. Missed update notes We missed a few update notes in yesterdays update as they weren't bugs and they slipped through, here's the details: Cookbook searching This update included a change to the cookbook, with the ability to search by ingredients, cooker, container, and notes! This should allow you to ensure that you can always find the recipe you want. You can also mouse over the "Search by" field to find out just how many recipes you have, who has the highest? Larder changes The larder has also been tweaked, and should provide even more decay protection for things stored inside it, we'll be keeping an eye over them this coming Wurm winter, and will again be following all feedback about their effectiveness. Flowers and honey Flowers and enchanted grass were tweaked to provide bigger boosts to honey production during spring and summer, I know this one was asked by several so I'm sure many are happy to see it has come in. Esert update clarification A couple of questions this week about the Esert update contest, all submissions can be sent to me via PM or via email, and it will run until the 17th of Feb. The entries will then be voted upon by you in the Esert sub forum. There's no limitations in the design plans, but we may request changes if we feel they may cause too much lag or that it is missing some new player accommodations. Community Content This weeks community content is the first annual impalong ojn Mythmoor, a popular WU server! Impalongs are a long enjoyed tradition in WO and I really like seeing them come to WU as well, it starts today and runs all weekend. That's it for this week, I hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll see you next week with more news! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  14. New banner courtesy of Saroman! Hi Everyone! Another week has passed, and it's time to share some more news about what's going on with the Wurm team. We're still ramping up as that holiday feeling passes and work mode kicks in, with an update to Wurm online due to land early to mid next week, pending some fixes, but for now, the news! WU devblog This week saw the WU devblog go up on steam,, outlining the delays in 1.3 coming as well as touching on the future plans for WU, including a possible updated server UI . Check out the article here: http://steamcommunity.com/games/366220/announcements/detail/258229677222552331 Esert makeover! Last year we had the design a deed comp for several deeds, and it went amasingly well, with some awesome designs (I love jbergs knot highway) and we've recently been asked about Esert, the starter deed on Exodus. So we're opening it up to a design comp, all entries will be placed in the subforum for exodus, and you're all welcome to vote, the original current design will also be included, for those who want to keep it as it is. The deedplanner info for Esert is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0hjK_EXMTcdb3RMMnExckx0N00/view?usp=sharing Nahjo faith transfer The conversion for Nahjo faith to another deity faith has been running since the 22nd of November, and will end on the 1st of February, Please ensure that you have performed any transfers you wish to by then. Community Content This weeks community content is the Iron Chef - Wurm edition competition by shydow, who is holding a competition for wurmians to nominate their best recipes that fit the criteria! Have you entered yours? (apparently vodka and bread doesn't work) That's it for this week, I'd like to thank Saroman for the spiffy new header border, and hope you all have a great weekend of Wurm, until next time, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  15. Hi everyone! Slightly late, the forums have been a little temperamental today, it's being looked into as well as looking at long term plans to improve stability and response, but on with the news! This is the launch of the newly named weekly news, the Valrei International! Containing all the dev news and events to the moon and back! It's been a nice long break over the Christmas/new year period, and we're settling back in preparing ourselves for another big year ahead, taking stock of our current projects as well as lining up possible future projects, so we'll recap some of the events at the end of the year, and also address the WU update situation. Secret Santa I'd like to give a shout out to the forums omgderp for coming up with their secret Santa project over Christmas, it was amazing to see so many Wurmians donate presents and we'd like to all say thank you for sharing the fun. Shrimpalong The shrimpalong ran over the Christmas period to new years, and I have to say, it was a massive amount of fun, from the sheer amount of death in the arena, to the games and just general community, Impalongs are huge amounts of work and I think shrimp and co managed to put on an awesome one, check out the screenshots from the event here! Notorious Impalong avoider Slickshot has described it as one of the best impalongs he's not attended, and looks forward to not attending more in the future. Cooking questions? If you've got questions about features and mechanics of the new update, Pandalet is running a thread to answer the hot questions about it all, so ask away! WU update So as you all know the WU cooking update is quite late, this is due to a few reasons which I'll go over here. As outlined by Keenan previously, our WO servers and WU servers differ in a number of ways, mostly by the fact we have complete control over our hardware and can modify it as necessary, we know what to expect when updating and what systems the update runs on. The issue with this is in WU it becomes quite a large unknown. 1.3 is the first major database update since WU's release, adding new tables, and relationships which can be tricky in the best of times. With the unknown nature of WU systems it becomes even tougher as we need to ensure that it works smoothly every time, regardless of the system. It's an issue that we didn't expect to see so large so there's an unexpected delay there as well as ensuring that for any future updates it goes smoothly as well. There has also been quite a few bug fixes and restarts to address issues that have arisen as more people explore the new update, highlighting things missed in testing (or simply not testable to a realistic scale), so isolating and resolving these issues as well as a few tweaks here and there have been going in in preparation for the 1.3 release. Pushing the 1.3 update out for WU is now our largest priority over this month, ensuring that the recipe system works for WU and that the issues we've encountered on WO servers do not occur on WU. We do apologise for the delays and can assure you that it will be out in a beta as soon as we are able to do so. Community Content This weeks community content is the doomed brigade, by malokai, apart from just the sheer amount of snowmen, I think the most impressive thing is how perfectly they're lined up! Got something you'd like to see in the news? Feel free to contact me about it! We've got a fair few things in the works with the start of 2017, doubtless you have seen a few mentioned, we'll be looking at outlining the goals of each one as time progresses, slowly getting back into the swing of things to ensure that Wurm keeps getting bigger and better. Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  16. And what a week it has been! I know there have been a few changes that garnered some negative attention this past week, I'd like to thank those who voiced their concerns and feedback in a constructive manner, we will always do our best to work with players, and compromise where we can. While the majority of you all were respectful and obeyed the forum rules, there were a few who weren't. This always leads to accusations of censorship which aren't true. Developer and staff bashing have always been against the forum and game rules, being upset with any changes occurring does not change that. But anyways, on with the news... Patch Notes PvP update A large portion of the discussed changes went live yesterday, and after a few hiccups is operating smoothly, we hope to continue working with the PvP community to address key issues and improve play. Some of the changes were to damage reduction, and as such, here are the new systems just to clarify: PvP Damage reduction information Body Strength Formula, linear line is old, curve is new. (1-(0.15*ln(x*0.8-15))) Armour type DR And modifiers by attacking type. Armour also carries bonuses for material type: +10% for glimmer, +5% for addy, +10% for seryll rare is 103%, supreme is 106%, fantastic is 109% Rift Resources As also mentioned in this weeks patch, the rift resources can now be collected! While their current use is not yet in, they can be collected and stored, other methods of obtaining them may become apparent soon too... The Shrimpalong! This week has seen announcement of The Christmas Impalong! (or as zigozag phrased it, Shrimpalong). Shrimpiie has been preparing his deed for a community staple, and you'll have to check it out, I know I'll be there! That's it for this week, hopefully we'll have some solid plans for public testing of the cooking update in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
  17. Hi Everyone! This is just a quick news this week to wish you all a wonderful Christmas, and an awesome new year. There won't be any news next week and possibly the week after as I will be away with family, and letting the devs relax. The Christmas gifts are now available in game, I won't spoil the surprise, so if you want to find out yourself, don't read this spoiler! On behalf of the Wurm team, I'd like to thank you all for your feedback, voices, and input in the past year. A community is only the sum of its people, and by that qualifier, ours is pretty damn awesome. I'd like to wish you all have a very safe and happy Christmas, and not get too drunk on any strange recipes found on troll corpses over the holiday period. 2017 is already shaping up to be massive, and I'm honestly really excited to see what comes of it. Until then though, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  18. Enki pays a visit Hi everyone! Christmas is almost upon us, and I've seen a few Christmas trees floating around already! This week we'll be looking at an in depth interview with Shrimpiie, our Shrimpalong coordinator, but first... Patch notes: Shrimpalong! The 2016 Christmas Impalong launches this weekend, and our reporter in the field spent some time with Shrimpiie, the organiser to ask a few hard hitting questions: the impalong runs from the 18th of December through to the 1st of January, so make sure you stop by, check it out, and make a seafood joke or two! Full details about amenities, events and services can be found here: Rarity and cookers We initially designed the cooking system to take the rarity of the cookers (forge, oven, campfire) into account when calculating what the affinity would be, this means the same meal cooked in a rare oven will give a different affinity vs one cooked in a normal oven. Some players raised how this can seem a bit backwards, given turning a normal oven rare or better would mean having to start the collection of affinities all over again, or getting rid of it. We'd like your feedback on this, as to whether you'd like to see rarity affect the affinity, and the system stay as it is, or remove the rarity affecting the outcome. This option would mean that all recipes currently tested using a rare+ cooker would be incorrect, and you would need to start again. In both cases, rarity would boost the timer length compared to a non rare cooker. Read through others opinions and vote in the forum poll here: Fountain pans Being removed in 4 days Fountain pans are due to expire just under four days from now, so please make sure that all contents are stored appropriately, when they expire the items will move into the next container they can fit in, if they cannot fit or go over the 100 item count, they will pop out onto the floor. Racks and racks! They're updating quicker than I can tease in the news! This week saw the release of the awesome amphorae and planter racks, some of the cooler storage options, as well as allowing the loading of full items and transferring them between containers that can fit them! I got so excited about this i blew up a building in anticipation of a new greenhouse! Community Content This weeks content is of course, the impalong! Some beautiful shots of the deed custom designed for the impalong, can't wait to see lots of corpses, i mean, players! That's it for this week, enjoy the weekend, and as always, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  19. Dockfronts on The Wurm Unlimited server, hyperborea by Boyar. Hi all! Another week has gone by, and we're nearing the end of the year, with the jingle bells in the distance, and some man in a red suit being spotted all over the place. We've got a bit of news as we work on refining the massive changes in 1.3, so lets get to it! but first... Patch Notes: Seedlings steps up! After months of tireless work as the assistant wiki manager, Seedlings will be taking over as the wikipedia manager from here on out, recognising her hard work and dedication. We'll continue to be updating the wiki to incorporate all the changes that came with 1.3, so if you'd like to lend a hand, or just obtain a wiki account for general updating, feel free to fill out the form below! Alternatively, you can always post information on our wiki maintenance section of the forums, or in #wurmpedia on IRC, our wiki assistants and editors are always happy to ensure that information gets updated as soon as possible. SotG changes This update also saw Shield of the Gone changed to start kicking in at level 7, with 6% DR, scaling up each level to the full 30% DR at level 11. This change hopefully takes some of the wait off with SotG as we move forward, but we will be looking at an entire meditation overhaul in the not too distant future, covering all paths to ensure that they are fairly balanced against each other. Securing Yesterdays patch notes including an option to "secure" plantable items. Currently the list given is not fully functional due to a bug, but the new ability will allow players to secure items that could not be planted before, meaning greater protection of these items. We'll also be adding a few bash options for existing items, allowing players to remove some things that they couldn't before, and ensuring there's a way to knock secured and planted items down too 70 damage to be able to pick up when off deed. WU beta With this weeks update out and most of the bugs squished, our next major focus is on Wurm Unlimited receiving the beta update, so rest assured the wait will soon be over! The recipe system teased will be coming with this, and we will have a special section of the Wurm unlimited forum for the creation and sharing of these player made recipes (I have also heard of at least one or two recipe generation tools being worked on). Community Content This weeks community content is going back to an older mentioned one, the Wurm community radio! The radio station is up and running at http://www.lifemud.com/radio/ and they are looking for volunteer DJ's! If you like the idea of rambling to a captive audience of wurmians for up to an hour (who doesn't, I've seen you all on GL chat!) feel free to apply! That's it for this week though, we'll have more information about the WU beta over the coming week, and hopefully have a date by the end of it. Until then though, Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  20. Hi everyone! Another busy week this week as we continue to address some concerns and issues with 1.3, as well as prepare for the big release in Wurm Unlimited, we're still ensuring the bugs are ironed out in WO before moving on to a beta, but expect to see it within the next few weeks! But first.. Patch Notes Recipes Keenan teased this a little bit in the WU forums but we'll have a look at it here anyways. Something that wasn't really mentioned in the WO update due to it being back end was how the recipe creating system works in the code. The exact code may be confusing for some so let me break it down a little: This represents a single recipe. Each recipe is a single file (JSON for those curious) that is stored in a recipe folder in the server folder structure. When your server starts up after a restart it checks the folder and adds any and all recipes listed in there. This means a system that is extremely flexible, and a simple restart allows you to add all the recipes you desire! Creating a recipe will be as simple as choosing what ingredients may go into it, the container and cooker used, the description and model, then sharing the file with other server admins! Wurm unlimited will be receiving a list of already known recipes to make the basic level of cooking accessible, along with the ability for server admins to customise and add their own recipes. Those who wish to write their own won't be totally in the dark, we'll be releasing a guide about how the recipe file system works and all the possible variables. I'm positive that someone will be eyeing it off, contemplating their own little tool to create recipes with ease too. Tasty! The one down side to finding out what each meal gives as an affinity is being too full to eat! To counter this we'll be adding a "taste" option in a future update, allowing players to taste a meal for a hint of the affinity they will receive, even more reason to get cooking now! The reduction in skillgain from HFC is also being looked at, and as soon as the issue is isolated it will be fixed. Nutrition changes Incase anyone missed it in the patch notes, we will be removing the CCFP wiping of Refresh, and allowing it to fill food/water/nutrition to 99, the payoff for this is the fact the CCFP bars will continue to go down without eating. We'll also be boosting nutrition values from medium+ meals served in their ideal temperatures (no one likes a hot salad). Rack 'em up! Beating me to the release is the awesome new wine barrel rack, and small barrel rack! These can hold up to 30 barrels of their corresponding type (incorrectly listed as 20 in the patch notes before I fixed them), meaning much better storage options and allows me to continue to hoard barrels like they're going out of style! Community Content This weeks community content is a little PvP related, with three new Chaos PMK's launching in the past month or so. They've been hard at work and have produced some amazing kingdom designs, I can't work out which kingdoms I like the most (though I'm open to donations!) Which one is your favourite? Pandemonium: The Crusaders: Dreadnought Dynasty: That's it for this week though! We'll continue to keep an eye on things as we work towards a Wurm Unlimited release, Until then though.. Keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  21. Torn between collecting meat for the new cooking update, and having the cart drawn, some Wurmians opted for compromise It's full steam ahead as we move towards the 1.3 release, the hamsters have been briefed, the various sacrifices to Valrei performed, and we're almost there! By now you should have received a copy of the news letter (or ten, if you're like some players I know) so you'll have a fair idea of what's coming, but we'll go into a few details we've wanted to share too. If you haven't seen the newsletter, here it is! http://www.wurmonline.com/sendy/w/WHw62zbohUcyQ0SOxlcRZA/X763UGYcwJdW0Ixp0K71wkRw/bFDPbBmLiJfyLQfDq37YfA Fruit Inspector A few months ago, A player by the name of Noizhead raised questions about how fruit harvest quality works, with the fruit difficulty being your skill / 2, meaning as you get better, your results get worse! In this update we'll be addressing that mechanic, as well as a few others: Fruit harvested as well as foraging and botanizing finds will now be closer quality to your skill Yield from harvesting trees and bushes will now increase depending on skill and tree age (or trellis QL). Two huge changes to harvesting fruits and bushes, time to sharpen that sickle! Decorate for days! We previously announced that decoration items on deeds with over 30 days upkeep will not take decay, I've done some digging (nagging) and gotten a list! It may not be fully comprehensive, as some things might have been missed, but the general rule of thumb is, if it doesnt form a pile when dropped, and it can't be lit, then it won't decay (don't worry, this doesn't mean lamps will when planted) Cookbook update! The cookbook, as previously mentioned has been getting some serious reworking, and in the 1.3 update will be a little different to how most of you tested it. It will now be available via the quickbar! you will be able to add notes to each recipe, making note of the affinity you get from specific combinations, and also mark certain recipes as favourites! We'll also have the cooking guide ready for release on Tuesday, along with the full patch notes of all the changes coming in with 1.3, so there's a lot of work ahead of us, but we're super excited and so should you be! Community Content This weeks community content is from just outside Strongbox, on the Serenity Epic server, Skymart! This awesome building bearing the colours of Jenn-Kellon, along with interconnected bridges just looks amazing. The colossus on the right is a tribute to long time JK player PaulTRW, who sadly passed away some time ago. That's it for today, we'll be busy crossing i's and dotting t's, making sure everything is ready for Tuesday. Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  22. Foggy sun, by wilczan Hi everyone! A huge week this week with the release of 1.3! I've taken a break from the oven (okay, okay, maybe I was outside hunting bees) to fill you in on all the post 1.3 news, so here we go! Recipes sharing As some of you may have noticed, I spoke about the cataloguing of recipes on the forum or ingame recently. For the moment, we'd like to avoid having any openly public collection of recipes being shared. The reason for this is that many do wish to spend time exploring this system for their own, and we'd like to give them the opportunity to do so. If you wish to use sites such as Reddit to collect and discuss you are more than welcome to do so, but please do avoid sharing it in public chats and the forum until it comes to Wurm Unlimited. To clarify, if someone asks how to make a certain meal, giving info on that is fine, but collections and spreadsheets of recipes are best to keep it to PM. Public sharing of lists or collections of recipes can and will result in moderation actions being taken, so please be sensible and considerate. Once it comes to Wurm Unlimited we will allow the postings as long as spoiler tags are used. Shield training The shield training change came along with this update, and we've had mixed reports over how it has gone. In order to give the best feedback, please include some important things: Combat log - This tells us how often you parry with your shield as well as what you fight Skill log - This allows us to see the tick rate, and tick size, as well as the skill levels of the shield skills you're training. Shield quality - This helps us see what equipment you're using and if you're doing it right. Stance - This tells us how effective each stance is at skill gain. Of course there will be adjustment with how you skill with this system, fighting weaker mobs will not give as much skill, but stronger mobs will, aggressive stance does not block so often, so you will receive less opportunities to gain skill so keep that in mind! Wurm Unlimited I know for a fact that our Wurm Unlimited cousins are champing at the bit for this update. With this in mind, we'll be working on a beta release within the next few weeks, with the info about how it works for server admins to create and populate their recipe list. Wurm Unlimited is currently on sale so if you're keen on getting in early, grab a copy! We'll be giving away some copies of Wurm Unlimited to celebrate this update when it launches too, so make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook! Steam Awards Steam also has their award season on this week, and we all know what Wurm qualifies for! The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award is definitely our pick! With that all done, we want to hear your feedback on everything! what's your favourite part of 1.3, and what can't you wait to get your hands on? Let us know! Community Content This weeks Community Content is from us! The map dumps taken on the 1st of November have proven extremely popular, and I know I've spent hours pouring over them, wondering what each little dip looks like ingame. We'll be working on an automated delayed system and a pan and scan version up soon! Check them out here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6J_aGQ6URL8UURFN2VadWxtSWs That's all for this week folks, we'll continue to monitor all changes and take feedback on how they feel to you, this includes both good and bad! If you feel that something does not work as effectively, or that something is perhaps TOO effective, please do raise it, including as much information as you can. The reasons for this is to ensure that any changes we need to make can be done early on, and allow us to avoid hassle in the future. Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
  23. A domesticated bee hive Hi Everyone! We've had a few more hotfixes this week to address some unfortunate combat problems, although we're fairly certain the exploits have been removed and should be smooth sailing from now on. If you encounter any issues or exploits please be sure to report them to the GM team by pming a GM on the forum, or emailing gamemods(at)wurmonline.com Patch Notes Wurm Online Wurm Unlimited WU Update Version 1.1.1.2 of Wurm Unlimited went live this week, with the new clothing and other updates coming in! We aim to have the new beta up by next week, with the PvP, combat, and other changes in that for modders and admins to make sure everything works. Cooking! The time comes closer to public testing of the new cooking system, with our devs and several volunteers working hard to ensure that it hits the public test server as soon as possible! This weeks peek is at the recipes, and ways to share them. Players who create a meal, can write down that recipe on papyrus using a reed pen filled with ink or dye, and then they are able to trade, mail or sell the recipe card, and allow other players to use them to learn new recipes. Rumour has it that certain humanoid creatures in the wild also have their own unique recipes, ones that cannot be cooked without knowing how to make them... Food storage Another common question about the cooking update is about decaying of meals! Certain items such as sandwiches and chocolate (!) will be able to be wrapped, which will greatly reduce decay on those items. Meals cooked with salt will also have reduced decay, though these will not stack. There will also be a storage option to greatly reduce decay of items that cannot be stored in a storage bin, with something special involved too, but more on that in another weeks news! What secret does the larder contain? how does it stay so cool? Another big storage option will be the ability to store liquids without decay! Sealing a liquid container with beeswax and cloth will prevent all decay on various containers, including amphorae and pottery jars. Wine barrels will also be able to be sealed, but will use a different method. Community Content This week forum user goldgretel has been sharing some amazing shots from their adventures in Wurm, I couldn't go past this amazing one of a castle by a lake! That's it for this week, there's still plenty more to share about the cooking update, and hopefully we'll have all the information ready by the time it lands on the public testing server I hope you all have a great week, and keep on wurming! Retrograde & the wurm team.
  24. Mountain views, by Ibexx It's the calm before the storm this week with the 1.3 update looming over, testing to ensure everything works, working with feedback on the cooking changes, as well as finalising what's in it! We have the release date set (pending anything majorly breaking) and here it is! Save the date! With the major bugs ironed out of the cooking update, we're able to announce the release date. The 1.3 update will go live on the 22nd of November! This means next week will be the final news before it goes live, so I'll have all the info about what's coming in 1.3 to share then. There's a lot to go over and finalise, I'll be working with the dev team to make sure everything is covered and all the information is available upon launch. Bug reports and exploits This week saw a notice about exploits and their impact. We're aware that sometimes mechanics fail, or that there are situations that can be created that we do not intend. It is our job here to provide as much information on what is intended and what situations are not. With that in mind it's also important that all exploits and potential game breaking bugs are reported by you. With that in mind we're in the process of improving our reporting reward system, ensuring that players who do report these issues are recognised for their help. This system has been around prior, but was not publicly available and did vary in the rewards, so our aim here is to provide a public system that is clear and makes sense Rift Rune Changes Based off feedback we'll be making a few slight changes to the rift runes. Anyone will be able to make a rift rune of any god (or Jackal) There will be a bonus for crafting a rune for a follower of that god if they have over 20 faith. i.e. A Fo follower with over 20 faith can make a rune of any god, but gains a crafting bonus to crafting runes of Fo. This means that a follower won't be limited to just runes of their god, and opens up more opportunity for crafting! Community Content Milosanx has a new video! He's traveled through the orient express, a canal that's been a project since I started playing. I first heard rumours about it living down in the south east, but it wasn't apparent to me just how amazing it was, it's huge! There's a lot of things in the works coming, and not just the cooking aspect. Once those things are finalised we'll be sharing them with you all, so keep an eye out! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team
  25. Grand Conjunction of 1601 Dancers III - Predicted by Gaffer Hi Everyone! This week has testing on cooking continuing, with recipes being adjusted, and the cookbook being modified, we're also showing a few new things coming in 1.3 that you can't eat! Rifts and runes The new runic items coming with the 1.3 update will provide individual bonuses depending on a few factors, combining a rune will require a rift stone, crystal or piece of wood along with a lump of metal. The metal used as well as the god the crafter follows will determine the end result, creating a rune that can provide a number of effects such as: Improvement QL gain rate Faster Vehicle speed Faster use speed reductions in size, weight, decay rate increases in volume improvements in ql gain increased chance of rarity There will also be single use runes, giving a chance at performing from a basic spell, to a refresh, and more! Wooden runes will be created with fine carpentry, and attach to wooden items Crystal with jewellery smithing, and attach to metal. Stone using stone-cutting, being able to attach to stone. Cloth items will also be included with one of them, not sure which at this point. These bonuses vary between 5-10%, but be careful! Some will have downsides too, there will be a lot to consider prior to attaching one. These runes are high end items, expect them to be extremely difficult to create, success chance of using or applying the rune will be based off rune quality as well as soul depth, each item is also limited to one rune (minus single use runes). So choose wisely. Cookbook! Work has been extensive on changing the cookbook, moving it to a client sided window (meaning no more pesky timing out) and listing all recipes, here's a sneak preview: Message boards Another feature coming with 1.3 is the message board system! Ever want to leave a message for someone? Or post a request? Well with the new message board, you'll be able to leave all sorts of notices. All you need to do is inscribe some paper or papyrus. And then attach to the message board! You can select whether to post messages to the whole village, to a single villager, or have them publicly available to non citizens as well! It's that simple! The ability to post to certain groups will be limited by permissions. Pandalet joins the dev team! Pandalet has been working hard helping Tich with documentation on the cooking test, giving me lots of info to steal and post in the weekly news, as well as assuring that when it launches, we'll have all the info easily available! I'm pleased to announce that we've managed to trick her into joining the dev team as a developer, So be nice! Wurm Unlimited sale Wurm unlimited is currently 66% off on Steams daily deals! Now's your chance to grab it cheap! Community Content There has been discussion about a player run Wurm radio station! Morlan has been floating the idea of hosting a radio station for Wurmians by Wurmians, andd I'm keen to see how this goes, because I absolutely love sharing music and seeing what others listen to when playing Wurm (except for some Mist lake members who love a little too much Aqua, you know who you are), so I'll be keeping a close eye on it! We're still on track for mid-late November, and next week will have even more info on the non cooking side of this update. I hope to see you all then! Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.
