  1. Hello guys and girls, i'm about to buy either laptop or tablet just for purpose for Wurm. I would like something quiet and be able to run two clients on medium high or high settings. Im not so sure about the tablet tho. About the laptop - MSI GT72, not so sure about this one. It costs over 1200 pounds and looks like overpowered for Wurm but who knows. Better suggestions? Must be more silent. About the tablet - Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet - quite small screen for Wurm but the projector would compensate this. or Microsoft Surface Pro 4 All of them cost about the same. 1200 pounds ish. Now i dont know. On one hand i dont want to spend that much money but if its worth im willing to spend that. I want to occassionaly play Wurm but watch movies and have something more portable as well. Lenovo tab seems as the best solution but ive had Lenovo yoga tab 3 pro lately and wasnt very happy with the lenovo software. Except the projector the tablet is completely useless even if you root it or unencrypt data or whatever the "solutions" are for this one. Suggestions? Suggestions? Suggestions? Thank you. Stinky
  2. I will be buying a new laptop and wondered if anyone has any real-world laptop experience using a laptop with an i5 and how good does wurm work on it compared to an i7? Any discussion would be appreciated. I am thinking that WU is probably more CPU intensive due to Java so may need the more powerful CPU for processing rather than just the graphics card of a gaming laptop. So basically will an i5 based Laptop work well enough with WU or should I go the extra mile and get an i7 based gaming laptop. I am trying to decide between a Lenovo i5 based Y730 and a i7 based Y730 laptop (both gaming) but the i7 is obviously more cpu strong shall I say if Wurm requires more CPU processing as well as GPU processing
  3. Well, I'm completley new to Wurm and was hoping to be able to jump in and try learn the game a bit so I have no previous knowledge of the game at all. I'm running on a pretty low end laptop but I should see no problem trying to run a game like Wurm. I have turned all the options down completley and abseloutley nothing changes. I have looked through threads and tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to fix the issue. I'm getting around 2 FPS literally ingame no matter what options everything just stays freezing.
  4. I have read several of the discussions about equipment appropriate for playing Wurm. My current laptop is Gateway FX from about 6 years ago and it had an NVidia 9800M card in it. It has never done java based games well and recently has started overheating and more. I replaced the GPU fan and it still isn't working right so my wife (much to my surprise) reminded me that I need to do something before we go on vacation in a month and mentioned that with school coming up this would be a good time for a new one! (shock, amazement!) Anyway, looking at TigerDirect, I found two that are the same price ($1499) but have somewhat different features. I have seen from the discussions that Graphics Memory, System Memory, and CPU are all pretty important. CyberpowerPC - Has 6GB video memory, 2.5GHz CPU speed, but other wise pretty similar, but it has 12 month warranty http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9591748 MSI - 3GB Video memory, 2.25GHz CPU, 24 month warranty, but claims to be able to take hardline and wireless internet connection at the same time for better speeds. My internet connection is pretty shaky it would be nice to be able to use both my main (intermittent 3M connection) and my backup (750K but tends to have higher ping rates) at the same time. It also talks about NVIDIA's surround view. I'm guessing the Cyberpower must do the same since it's virtually the same card, but I don't know. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9196820 I would appreciate feedback on which would be the better overall gaming system, both for Wurm and the vague possibility I might want to play other games. I like to run multiple windows when I wurm... so that's a big point of interest Time is fairly critical, we go on vacation in barely over a month from now. Thanks!
  5. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146612 So my friend wants to sell this to me for $100. The CPU is shitty, but it has a dedicated GPU. I currently run Wurm on this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834258441&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_- and it runs it fine, except when I'm in some crazy village. I paid $220 for this one ^ Does anyone have any experience running Wurm on an Intel Core 2 Duo? With a shitty GPU, will it run well? Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Well wishes?
  6. Looking for any current recommendations for laptop specs to play Wurm comfortably. CPU? Integrated graphics? I don't want to buy a $1000 gaming laptop if I don't need to. I appreciate any help! Thanks!
  7. So although I can't play for three weeks really (I can, but playing is a very loose term when I'm used to such higher skills Ugh, it's like starting a new game that I've already played too much, till I can pay for Premium.. anyone wanna spot me? ) till my paycheck, I decided hey, screw it, I'll map out a place to look at for settling down. Apparently nupe. WIndows 8 Laptop. Not a gaming laptop or anything but capable of running Skyrim on extreme, soooo. Java issue maybe? It's up-to-date. I'd like to actually be able to play the one game I like playing anymore. Nothing else does the trick for me. Woo for getting disillusioned. And seriously if you trust me enough to pay ya back, I'll pay ya back in silver when I get paid xP So impatient, I am. Shushing now. ~Auri.
  8. Basically, when playing wurm recently i've been having an issue, my laptop totally cuts out (power off and everything instantly) it can sometimes take 2-3 hours of play for this to happen, or can happen 4-5 times in the space of an hour. Don't think its an overheating issue, i keep the fan uncovered and have cleaned it several times recently. I run my client on all the lowest possible settings, the reason i think its something wurm related is because i can watch movies for hours while browsing/ duel-screening with other things with no problems at all. Used to have this issue a while back but it seemed to stop until the last few months, now its really bad, i can expect to crash 3/4 times an hour when out hunting, and its almost a guaranteed thing during PvP (which is a big part of why i enjoy wurm) Not sure if anyone can help/has had similar issues and can give me some advise.
  9. Basically, I'm headed off to college and am curious to be able to keep up with wurm while I'm there. I'm a complete and utter noob at shopping for computers and laptops, which is why I'm making this thread... Here's what I've been playing on (my desktop): Win7 Processor AMD Athlon II X4 630 Processor, 2800 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB ATI Radeon HD 5670 Adapter RAM 1.00 GB (1,073,741,824 bytes) I'm able to play wurm relatively well.. on lowest settings i can run like 3 clients at once with little problems (and high FPS), and can easily run one client with medium/high settings and 30-40 FPS (depending on conditions or fog ;D) Now, here are a few laptops I've taken an interest in, and am basically wondering if any of you computer-savvies can help determine how well one of these will be able to run Wurm, or if it's a good idea at all. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246493 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215404 The prices i'm looking for are anywhere from $700-900, with 900 bucks being "this had better be a damn good system for the price". Honestly I'm just putting those 2 links there to make it look like I have a clue about what I'm talking about, but the reviews of the Acer seemed pretty favorable, and the lenovo is a similar price with similar but a bit better specs (from what I can tell). Mainly my issue is if the CPU and GPU are the "right" ones to be able to run Wurm. If you can even just give me a little push in the right direction or a hint from past experience (or anything!), that'd be awesome Thanks!
  10. I'm having to buy a laptop for gaming as i'm moving house so have to clear away my PC from the bedroom so it looks bigger. As moving may take some time i've decided to buy a laptop and sell my desktop to help fund the new purchase. I was wondering if you guys had suggestions for how much my PC would be worth. Here is the spec, minus the SSD I'm keeping. http://pastie.org/4572953 Thanks in advance.
