  1. As the old Sunrise Valley deed has been disbanded the way is cleared for (one of) my old project: I am working to create a straight highway linking Sonata to east coast of the big lake center Cadence. This make long straight way for land travelers coming from south and east and connect to the straight tunnels under Cadence highest mountain. Work is in progress but already mostly created. Several points are delayed: - a temporary mine plunder deed at Sunrise Valley is in the way for less than one month, bypass easy quite straight trough de deed. Fence bashing, land shaping, ground paving and highway connection will be done after deed is disbanded - a deed in the way (Angel's deep) prevent me to go on further south, especially for the straight highway eye connection, bypass follow existing squared cornering highway system. But it's only delayed as I have been granted to continue by Lame horse alliance. - a meteorite impact at the highway has cause some damage peat waiting for some transmutation liquid... Note: I know many deeder dont like the diagonal lanes has they cant make their town fences next to it. But that's mainly a wild forest area and traveling is much easier when straight. I do like the diagonal that's why I named that highway "Diagonale du fou" which is an old french-swiss film name. Translation means "Bishop's diagonal" but is "Fool's diagonal" as the chess piece named "bishop" french name is "fool").
  2. Ocean Breeze Tunnel is finally open! After more than a year of work, the Ocean Breeze Tunnel is open, adding another travel opportunity across Harmony. 30 different veins were removed or mined out. Around 250 000 mining actions were made. All the walls were clad with stone bricks, and the whole tunnel was properly lit with lamps. Ocean Breeze Tunnel is 286 tiles long. Safe travel friends! Big thanks to Rihanna for help with removing veins, Spercheius for allowing me to mine under his and casting lava/freeze on some lq veins, and Starwaffle for providing some building materials. P.S. If I forget to mention you and your help, feel free to contact me here via the forum or directly in the game, and I will add you.
  3. Magranons Scar - Highway Project website updated on 24/10/2016 and here the link to the new website: http://magranonsscar.weebly.com/ Mags Scar monthly mining event! next one is 31st December and 1st of January 2017 Starting at 5th of November 2016, we will hold a monthly scar mining event, to help with coordination for people who want to help out and those who couldn't reach me or couldn't figure out a good time to meet. it will be every first weekend of a month and I will try to be on as much as possible (I'm from gmt+3, but there might be other workers around from other timezones who know what to do). Whoever joins us can get free shovel and pickaxe imps from Raybarg and we can provide tools if necessary aswell. Every worker who joins, can take mined shards with them, for free , aswell as keep any tools that you might have gotten from us. Also we have an inn with rooms and beds(can make more if needed) and we have kitchen, forges, a mine with iron, a mailbox, wells, stables etc. Everything you need should be taken care of, while staying at the scar and you are free to contribute to anything else that's not mining aswell. oh and Pingpong, the noob, will also be there happy mining ! link to old forum topic if curious:
  4. After months of work, West Island Bridge is finally completed and now adds another route between western and central islands of Harmony. Feel free to use it, and have a safe travel! I want to thank Rihanna. You did a tremendous amount of work, and I am very grateful for your help. Without you, it would take forever to finish the bridge. Also, I want to thank everyone else who provided their materials or, in some other way, helped with the construction of the bridge. Big thanks to Minixcaliber, Luttuosaa, Davihh, Legelig, Sopi, Keening, Weslock, Thalon, and Dasmyhammer. (I hope I did not forget anybody. If so, please send me a private message. I want to mention everybody here.)
  5. Some of us really like building highways. While it is nice that the catseyes already record the name of the planter for posterity, perhaps it is not too much of a ask to add a few titles to reflect how many total catseyes that a character has planted. This for me would make building highways just that much more rewarding 😃
  6. You did not ask, but after months of mining and crafting, the tunnel through the Mountain of the First Rift is now open and safe to walk through. (The map is a "little bit" off, so I marked the existing highways with orange. I guess we will fix it after the new official dump release) I have started this highway almost a year ago and started the active work on the tunnel around two months ago. Now the tunnel is open. Big thanks to Rihanna for helping with mining. I appreciate your help. Also, special thanks to Antongalaktiki for some Strongwall casts and Blpolarbear for Strongwall casts and surface mining. Update All the tunnel walls are now cladded with stone bricks
  7. Post will be filled in with more information and pictures later, this is mostly an informational placeholder for me to add to, time permitting. Name will be changed later once I can settle on one I like As of last night, I have completed the bridge connecting west and central Harmony, at approx. this location: The bridge is fully highwayed, and is fully connected to the mainland highway network. Efforts are also starting to come underway to link up to this location across the western landmass, bringing wagoner (and frankly horse/wagon access to western harmony). Fences are not yet up on the dirt pillars but are planned for tonight, lighting to follow later and signage. Bridge can be found on the self-serve community map, thread here, map here Bridge stats: Bridge Style: Flat wood center, Arched wood connectors at either end Full length including dirt pillars: 260 tiles (1.04km) Full length of bridge tiles only: 250 tiles (1.00km) Longest Span: 28 tiles Actual bridge tiles: 500 Number of bridges: 10 Total, 8 N/S Flat, 1 N/S arched, 1 E/W arched Carpentry required for longest spans: 81 Dioptra and Range pole QL to plan: 70.05 Materials used: 11k planks, many beams, nails, ribbons, shafts, over 12k dirt Bridge height above the water: 20 dirts (fully passable by all boats except through bridge supports) Maximum water depth under bridge: Approx 220 dirts Digging skill required for deepest pillars: ~65 Intersecting bridges (currently): 1, to Saviour (the island) Big thanks to members of the Eastern-West Coast Alliance (names to come in further edit) for donating lots of dirt/sand, and helping to work on some of the bridges, as well as to everyone who has been supportive or encouraging. Donations of eyeballs requested and greatly appreciated for continued highway connections in the area. Picture taken in H12, Imperial Palace is in J12
  8. Hey guys, i turn to you with another problem: I have enabled the new highway system on my server and wanted to place a waystone. Now it says [00:16:46] Can only plant if the waystone has been blessed. I dont recall needing to bless my waystones before, is this normal? or is it a mod? i cant think of any mod i have installed that alters highways... I placed waystones without blessing before on another server... I'm a bit confused now.
  9. I’ve noticed highways on established/veteran servers tend to be a bit chaotic/organic and at times, not easy to navigate. Because of the odd shape and wide bodied water ways on Melody, would it be beneficial to start discussing proposed land routes across the map? Roaming the map, it appears people have begun their own highway sections to accommodate their own deeds and needs. Factoring in map terrain elevations, shortest possible routes and contribution from the community villages surrounding these possible highway locations, what’s the best way to coordinate this plan and what proposals do you have to bring to the table in order to begin construction once people are satisfied with their deed situations? I know this is not a simple question or discussion but one I thought people might be intrigued to start thinking about.
  10. Hi Everyone I started a new long term project to connect the East Coast to sommerholt with an Highway and subsequent Wagoner, especially to connect my village Langrange Indiana, located in L26. Is kinda big and realize gonna take a long time, therefore asking for any help anyone could provide. Could be beneficial to a lot of villages, and also could be an incentive for people to build villages and populate an area of the map not very populated. That means more possibilities to commerce, develop and improve a community around that area. I would divide the project in two steps: Lay down a two lane road along the way I started it, but takes long time to modify terrains, leveling/terraforming, and paving with cobblestone Put catseyes and waystones Going to be time consuming to do all the catseye and waystones and put in place, checking links. Following some images and obstacles I found along the way Lagrange to Serenity On this first image there is a 2 lane bridge already, didn't check permits in dzolo gon area, but should be alright, but there is a problem on the bridge connecting serenity cove to dzolo gon, 1 lane bridge, thinking maybe drop dirt under to make a 2 lane road, no idea if u can add a second lane to that bridge Serenity to hiddenvalley Shouldn't be problems Hidden valley to Sanctorium Sure 2 lane on bridge, need to check permits for terraforming and paving, already catseyes and waystone in place at sanctorium, already connected to sommerholt from that point If anyone can help, give advice or even start to pave or putting catseyes let me know. At the moment cannot work actively on this project due to RL work but try to work as much as possible. Thanks a lot to everyone, let's make this possible in the future Byez Enniskillen
  11. I just spent an hour trying to figure out how to start a highway. Everything pretty much made sense except ONE THING. The waystone dropdown menu should contain an option to "Start Highway" in addition to "plant" Planting, for every other non-growing thing, means you are securing an object, NOT performing an action with it. I 'knew' that 'planting' the waystone wasn't right, because I was trying to start a highway, not secure an object to the ground. Can we get a clearer dropdown menu option used for waystone activation to start a highway?
  12. I have a highway going down the length of a bridge and a structure running perpendicular to the bridge. On the West wall of this sturcture I could build windows, on the East side I could not. Idunn unplanted the catseye on teh East side to allow me to build the window, then replanted. She wanted me to post this as a bug She also stated, once she replanted the catsye that the highway system should go green again in a few minutes. It still hasnt hours later, that leg of the highway remains under construction. I even replaced a waystone with a catseye, then the catseye with the waystone again, didnt help.
  13. My alt deed, located on Poco's old deed site near Sloping Sand, has finished digging through a shallow (8 slope) 3-wide canal. The highway has been re-routed around the north side of the deed, and the cateyes over the hump at the old market have been straightened out (no more zig zag). I still have lots of clean up work to do, and to re-slope the banks (particularly on the east side). The original waystone was moved over a couple tiles, while a new one was also placed near the bridge for any future expansions of the highway system via northwest over the hill to Lake Wyvern if anyone ever decides to. **Thanks to Barricade for setting up the bridge for me.** Reed seems to growing quit quickly on it's own in the canal. Already have 8 tiles of it so eventually it could look like a swampy inland river. My first character was on Release may years ago shortly after it's release, when the area was rather built up and fairly active (and Sloping Sand was a swamp).. I always wanted Poco's spot and to build the canal. It's need has long since passed, but I now have the spot, and still need it for my own purposes to transload to/from my main on Xan. There's two old shafts running very close to where I dug on either side, so I don't think I could dredge it for deep boats without hitting rock (and likely Ill be the only one using it and I don't have a deep boat anyway). I'm surprised as it is I didn't hit any even going shallow, as the guard tower sits on top of one shaft.
  14. Hi, title says most of it Build near an highway, the walls where no problem. After finishing the house, i wanted to add flooring. But it says [11:34:32] You are not allowed to add ground flooring to a highway. Heres a screenshot: https://picload.org/view/dopdrcol/protection.png.html Is it possible to build the flooring by any means? Or to prevent building in the first place? Edit; found an typo... PS.: English aint my main languange, so please dont blame me if there are more
  15. Hi, I've been playing for almost 17 months, more than half that time was spent building highways, tunnels and bridges to open up the south and link it to starter towns. The newest addition to this big project is the only deep canal in center south Xanadu, which lets you sail through with Caravels, Corbitas and the like. It is named The Big Girl's Canal, in no way to make fun of the more voluptuous ladies out there but because I've always found it funny than men often refers to their boats, cars and other possessions as ''She'', since the canal is meant for the bigger boats, it's become the Big Girl's Canal. When I arrived where I live and have been living since I started playing, Pit Stop Slowmo, some players had already started to dig up a shallow canal but they seemed to have given up once they hit rock and found out how much surface mining would need to be done, so when I was still a noob I had decided that I would finish it up and later figured it should be a deep canal for bigger boats as the only to come here with a Caravel was all the way west through Sweet Island. It is now opened and passable with large boats and I have developed a serious disgust towards dredging hehe. i have added some images that shows it's location as well as other parts of the southern project. While I was working on new bridges across the water here and this canal, Sgtscum, a neighbor worked on a highway of his own to link to my bridges and highway to Lormere. So i've included his work in an image, the tracing of his road is approximate but gives a good idea. Making the highway, linked to mine and then to Lormere a whopping 2442 tiles long. I hope all this will eventually become useful to other players, enjoy and have fun :).
  16. The highway connecting the south of Celebration to the north is now open and active! The current highway leads from Port Alora and connects to the highway at Misfits going through the newly renovated Roman's Pass, the tunnel originally made by the player Roman of Celebration. The highway will soon be extended to the south west of Cele and will connect Stonehaven Island through a bridge and tunnel network. Waystones were placed on possible future crossings to make it easier for those interested in creating their own connections to connect. There are still areas who will need some work, but its mostly cosmetic and I will take care of it as I find the time. But now the connection is workable and free to be used by all. Special Thanks to all of those who helped make this possible: Wargasm, Roman, Anchovie, Cybroachara, Bix, Nomadikhan, Stikher and any other I might have forgotten! Enjoy! Pictures below.
  17. Bridges are magnets for critters. They get trapped and die on them. I now have like 8 corpses on one of my bridges that are stuck. I can't access them from on or off the bridge. Looks really bad. So, I've decided I'll be fencinng off my bridges from now on, locked with the exception of allowing kingdom to pass. Keeps bridges safer and cleaner. However, this breaks the highway rules I believe (or so I have been told). So, can we do fence gates on bridges, or anywhere else for that matter, if we always keep kingdom permissions on for public access? Thank you!
  18. After preparing for a bit - and still not well enough, I have to admit - I have begun upgrading the highway between Greymead and Whitefay. The initial plan was to plant catseyes all the way to the tunnel, then upgrade the tunnel entrances as well as the floors inside, before continuing planting catseyes again. But as with all plans, this one didn't didn't survive either, the moment I encountered the enemy. Or in my case, an inactive deed with its perimeter over the highway. Since you can't plant catseyes if you don't have the dropping / planting rights at other deeds and thus also not in the perimeter, I decided to leave the catseyes for what they were and instead move on to the tunnel. Which I already knew would be a much greater challenge as just upgrading an old highway to the new system. And it was indeed a challenge. As it turned out, several tiles inside that tunnel had been mined out, meaning that to level the floor I had to use concrete, mine it out or do both. Turned out the latter was the best option, although it also depleted my stock of concrete, meaning at some point I need to return with a new supply to increase some tiles close to the western entrance to a "normal" level. However, with most of the floors mined out at the same level, the inside of the tunnel now looks a lot better. Next stage of the project was to widen the entrance at the East side; simply because it was the one I was close too, wich meant dropping a deed to remove the reinforcements, digging down the road to get to the rockface because the border wasn't flat, widening the entrance and finally followed by dropping all dirt and pave a single tile again to make all look as it should be. Currently I'm mining out the ceilings of the eastern side of the tunnel, to make that look better compared to the flat part which has high ceilings due to the lowered tiles. After that I'm going to rework the current western entrance, or add a new entrance now an old deed blocking that has gone. I'll look at that as soon as I'm up to it. As for the request: Just in case the owners of the deeds along the highway between Greymead and Whitefay (mapgrids I-18/20 and J-20) are reading this; please grant me the permissions to drop / plant items at your deed, so I can continue the construction of the highway. In case you don't want the highway, let me know, so I can bypass your perimeter. Of course, those who want to help are welcome to do so. Since I was unable to plant catseyes at some point when coming from Greymead - for now - starting to plant catseyes from Whitefay towards Greymead is the best option. And finally, some pictures. Tunnel improvement stage I The old eastern entrance The new eastern entrance Thorin
  19. for the last month or so a lot of activity was going on somewhere between Greymead and Rome, as a mountain was climbed, carved and conquered, and a new road emerged. a highway that avoids all the clay on the coast, connect Greymead and Rome, and with that the rest of the highway system. first i heard of this was when Ajala posted some pictures in the highway protection post, and looking at those pictures i had a feeling i knew who was working on that. so i hitched my horses to the cart and rode out, only to find the madness that is an angled road through a mountain i used to ride around. this road is now finished! the following people were the workers during the process : Tich, Keyos, Trooperau, Ajala, Mortommes, Cerber, and myself. its been a mad couple ofweeks, and from my own perspective, since i had to go back to deed from time to time .. everytime i returned more had happened, sometimes when i was on site the next day i logged on the whole landscape had changed again over night. since pictures tell a thousand words, i figured i will take those pictures, add even more words, and ride the damn road for your viewing pleasure :
  20. Hello guys I need your help, Xanadu's people. I would like to connect Esteron to Whitefay through a highway, but it is a very long and hard project, and I think that it will take a very long time to both collect the needed materials and build it. So I am here to ask you a little help by donating materials which will be used only for this project: Dirt. Stone bricks. Eyes. Blind catseyes. Complete catseyes. I will be able to take them from the coast, but it would be better if you could bring them at my deed (Modreth, Q25, on the shore). In this way I will spare some time for building the highway instead of running back and forward through Xanadu to collect the materials Anyway, feel free to write me in game (always as Luttuosa) or here in the forum. Thank you very much to all who will help me.
  21. Newspring Markets

Hello all, I was looking at the latest update to the Xanadu community map, thanks @Aniceset, and I see that there are no markets in the SW of Xan that meet the requirement of 6 active, stocked merchants. I was wondering if there is anyone who is planning on setting one up, or if there is one already that is up to date but maybe only has 4 or 5 traders? Basically, where is a good place to browse in SW Xan? Also, I suppose it should improve once the highway connection is done, linking Newspring, Linton, and Vrock Landing.
  22. Planting catseyes on bridges prevents subsequent preparation with mortar for paving. I suggest notes be added to these pages warning that paving must be done before catseyes. https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Paving In the Bridge paving paragraph and to these pages as necessary https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Highway https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Catseye https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Bridge thanks
  23. It would be nice if waystones could register heritage sites and supply routing info.
  24. I don't know about you guys, but my first approach to the new highways was a real mess and now I have to spend so much time to bash and replace waystones and catseyes in the right way. I know they are so hard to bash just because they have to protect the highways; because of this I would like if they were more easy to bash at least for the one who planted them, to clean faster the mistakes
  25. I've just had my game crash and refuse to let me log on for over 4 hours. I used the find route function just to test on a newly planted waystone. I didn't go to my destination, but ran along the highway to see the yellow arrows. At the next waystone I set my find route to my own deed and turned around to go back. I didn't get far. According to another player who was online at the time, I never moved from the waystone, but I was back at my deed by the time my screen went away and gave me the connecting screen. I managed to log on when a GM responded to my support call, but I don't think the issues with find route are really fixed...
