What is a rare roll? It's a moment of inspiration event accompanied by a rotating graphical aura of light display. You can only see it if you have GLSL (OpenGL's post-processing shader effects) enabled. Fascinated since I first saw one, I was at a loss as to how to describe them to new players. Wurmpedia describes it thus: "A "drum-roll" and visual cue appears when your chance to create or generate a rare item arises. The visual cue is a green halo which will surround the border of the screen, lasting a fraction of a second." I searched wurmpedia for a picture of a rare roll - so that I could examine it, but there were no pictures, so I set about trying to capture a screenshot of a rare roll to show people - and here it is! As you can see the aura is a series of rotating coloured bands made up of predominantly red and yellow - which combine and blend to give a green as they tend towards the centre of the screen. It's more complex than just a green halo I have long suspected that supreme rolls are a slightly different set of colours - go ahead! prove me right or wrong! Please post your rare+ rolls below!

Hi Potato fans Do you have an old computer running Wurm? Retrograde's comment about 'playing on Potatoes' in tonight's WurmOnlineOfficial twitch stream got me to thinking - How many of us are currently playing on 'potatoes' - old computers with old graphics cards, or maybe just computers that have to be on low graphics settings due to overheating or other problems... ...or maybe you prefer the performance or visibility on low graphics settings? It's snow joke, really I remember the first laptop I used to play Wurm had to use the minimum graphics settings, it was just too old. The screen was so bad that in winter with the low-detail snow textures, I really could not tell the difference between round cobblestones and rough cobblestones, in fact I thought they were interchangeable - I thought 'round' and 'rough' were a typo and meant the same thing. As I could see no visible difference between the two, I just used whatever materials were to hand, and when my courtyard was complete, it all looked fine and uniform ...until I got a new laptop and of course realised that it looked like a dog's dinner. I would love to hear your anecdotes, and see your screenies. Here's your chance to show us what a potato can do! Muse 💗

You know... there is that old discussion about Wurm winter! Some of you hate the snow season because of its brightness, some don't like its textures, others feel impeded when doing their highly important Wurm jobs. But there are also many others who just love this time of year when the winter sun shines brightly through snow covered trees, making our usually dark forests shine and sparkle with incandescent beams of light! I am one of those: I love Wurm winter with its beautiful snow covered landscapes and forests! Here are some of the awesome pictures I took yesterday - and I would like to encourage you to add more! (I didn't want to spam the general screenshots thread with winter pics, so I created this special place for the beauties of winter.) Feel free to post more pictures celebrating the beauty of Wurm winter!

I was home on Friday recovering from a bout of bronchitis. I decided to get on my horse, and take a leisurely ride around the entirety of Crystal Lake. My journey started in Crystal Bay, denoted in the black circle here. I went east through Grand Steppe, south along the eastern side of the lake, then around the southern edge over to S Mtn Road, and back. The journey took approximately 4 or 5 hours, with an extended break in the middle when the wife unit wanted to do some errands. Some screenshots along the way. East Crystal Highway, off the path, someone murdered around 100 trees. Oddly, the stumps were all gone, but the logs were still there. Saw a picket fence painted lavender, which I think works quite nicely with Wurm's natural colors: Found a chess board they had created - using statues for pieces, and turrets for the rooks. VERY creative. Kenolein's champion mountain lion was peeking his head out the window as I drove by. Cute kitty! Came upon someone playing with new housing textures, including this plain marble facade. Very clean lines. I liked this large grape vineyard, which had alternating rows of sand and grapes: On the shoreline, I found a MOB I didn't know existed in the game: a crab. 4 months playing the game, and I had never seen or heard talk of a crab One of Indy's more famous players is Darwin ("DOOM") and I happened upon his massive bison farm: Next door was a really interesting (to me) mine entrance. Note that the bushes are hazelnut, all planted center in two perfect rows. Inside this mine I found a sandstone node, too. While walking on S Mtn Hwy, I came upon two gift-wrapped presents. I have never seen gift-wrapped presents here. According to CA Telurius, these are really old. You used to be able to wrap something in a wood scrap and send it as a gift. These two items were on the ground with 99.9+ damage, so their time in Wurm is quickly ... wrapping up My final stop before home was this week's Rift site. The pic doesnt do it justice, because a lot was outside my clipping plane. There were thousands of pieces of filleted meat everywhere. An absolute slaughter.

Hello all you Workers out there! This week we are having another competition where we want you to really work for it so to say. Okay so this time it is pretty straight forward, we want to see community projects in action! As many people doing as visual and appealing teamwork as possible in a nice screenshot. If the project you are doing and the environment is beautiful it will of course be to your advantage. Like last time there will be three winning submissions. You now also need to name all the people in the shot participating in the project. Remember, it is not just about the amount of people, it is about the overall quality of the screenshot. As this is a community project we need to reward it as such. So each winning contribution will get a total of 30 SleepPowders to share amongst the team collaborating on the project. Also the chance of getting featured on Wurms promotional page! The competition is from September 25 to October 9. Good luck and we are looking forward to seeing you contributions!

I found a variety of bugs which vary from basic texture bugs till instant client crash bugs the list is as following: 1. The Basic Texture Glitches - sometimes the game tends to 'borrow' textures from places it shouldn't like for example the sign post gets the texture of the butchered lions but still maintains its original form. This can happen to crops, buildings and other basic objects that fall under decoration like sign posts, lamps and other objects it doesn't crash the game but it makes it more unstable since it does contribute since it appears to be an early sign of a crash. 2. The Black Object Glitch - Some objects(mostly anything which stands still and is not considered 'alive') can turn completely black once in a while and this stays the same yet it changes back when getting really close and turns back black once you get out of range again. this stays the same till client restart. Note: i suspect this has to do with the shadow mechanics which are in the game. 3. The Screenshot Issues - When trying to take a screenshot the client tends to have high change of crashing and on top of that it doesn't save the screenshot. even when not crashing for me it didn't give me any screenshot only batman on a rare occasion. 4. "Connection i thought i had connection?" Glitch - This glitch is the only one which i didn't have happen to caught myself which means i cant help to much. All i know of it is that people log in and they get the world loaded and everything yet for other people they do not show up or in worse cases do but don't do anything and then the char bugs up and kicks the client out and the in game character. There might be more glitches more regarding gameplay yet i didn't find those myself.

I spent most of my time during the latest server test of Xanadu taking screenshots. I went to every spawn point, 1-10, taking pictures of the surrounding areas for your enjoyment! We've had several comment positively on our deed and many have been interested in its layout/design. So we are posting here to share our experience... My wife (Awngeleak) and I (Tuanta) bought Cape Hazard a few months back. We renamed it to Waterdeep and began work... (The name seemed fitting since it is located on the West Coast and I am a fan of "old school" D&D) Location: Waterdeep (x4, y19) located on a Peninsula (Turned Island) in the Central West Coast of Pristine (Size 59x57) Before: Overlook Work in progress: After: Overlook Design: Above ground (All tree and bush types, large farm and ranch areas, Monastery "Fo, Magranon, and Vynora", Path of Love & Knowledge, and all trade "Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, Masonry, Carpentry, Kitchen, Tailoring, etc" buildings) Below ground (At least one of every ore type all utmost quality and 10,000 remaining actions) Additional pictures: North side at water level outside Carpentry building. (Will be placing merchants at each trade building. Wood: Raw Materials and Wood: Tools are currently setup.) West side (Castle complex will be placed at top) South East side facing West (Showing Hazard Heights mountain deed where overlook pictures were taken) South East canal with small boat passible land bridge (Island was actually a peninsula. There is rock just below surface there) South side canal (Equipped with warning lights for large ships) Note: North side is large ship passable yet most still choose to push their ships over the land bridge. Wurmians do it the hard way! It's our way of life! Just finished a month-long project I've been working on, and wanted to toss up a few screenshots. I needed clay, and there was a spot in the middle of the Northmere. So, I raised an island and built myself a place to cook bricks, grind pottery, fish, meditate, concentrate on crafting skills, and generally relax. "Meredin" means "Lake Fort": From above, looking down at the clay pit: From the water: The entire project took somewhere in the neighborhood of 3800 dirt, 2500 stone bricks and mortar, 2000 clay for pottery brick floors, more than a few meals, many shipments of rock and lumber, and the patience of my allies while I droned on and on about my glacial progress.
