  2. Here is a question for Rolf and the devs: I'm wondering if there are really levels on the meditation paths beyond level 13. The wiki page (http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Meditating#Path_Levels) seems to indicate that at least levels 14 and 15 exist, but I'm trying to receive the 14th question on the Path of Love for more than a month now. Although I'm using a high ql exquisite rug on a special tile I never succeed. So, could level 13 be the last one on the Path of Love? Maybe Rolf or any of the devs can answer this question.
  3. With all the attention being given to new titles that you can switch on or off, I think it'd be nice to be able to toggle the display of your meditation path's title. I doubt that I'm the only person who would rather just be their character name on mouseover, with nothing fancy after it. The ingame text even refers to a path as a "cult" and speaks of secrets known only to its followers, and yet a member's rank in this shadowy organization is kept plainly displayed for anyone to see with a glance. It can be argued that path titles should always be on because some of them give potent advantages in PVP. While it's true that many meditation abilities can give a character an edge, I disagree with the notion of forcing people to wear that sort of thing on their sleeve. I see it as no less ridiculous than claiming elite fighters should have their names trailed with a string resembling "[Knight] [swordsmaster] [Protector] [Marksman]" at all times. If all these other (and arguably much more pertinent) titles gained from skill are only voluntarily shown, I don't see why meditation path titles should be constantly displayed for the benefit of the enemy. It would also be neat, though not strictly necessary, if a person could also choose from any of the path titles they've previously earned, in addition to "none"; perhaps with a second dropdown menu on the /titles window.

  6. I like the way that meditation works mechanically. It allows players to individualise where the skill system tends towards homogenisation. But thematically it always felt very strange to me, given that Wurm's focus is more on Northern European culture and here is something that is decidedly more New-age interpretation of eastern cultures and feels a little jarring. So my suggestion is a cosmetic change to meditation. Replace the paths with minor or demi-gods. They could be seen as the 'Old Gods' who where usurped by the new (Fo, Vynora, Magranon & Libilia) but still have some power in the world. Lore fluff: The new gods tolerate the existence of the old because they don't see them as a threat and/or are useful to them. Rename the meditation skill to something more appropriate (I couldn't think of anything good off the top of my head). And maybe change the action item from a rug to perhaps a small idol or something. As an example: The path of love becomes the Old God Blosta, who often resides in flowery fields by the water. The path of power becomes the Old God Dunalf, who can be found near mountain peaks. etc. The change is only meant to be cosmetic, no skill resets or anything like that.

  8. I know this has been discussed many times before, but I don't think the matter has made it into the official "Suggestions" area. So, here it is: Currently, if you want to advance to the next level on a meditation path you have to answer a special question. As the answers are NOT obvious it is more or less a matter of luck and likelihood whether you are able to find the correct answer - as long as you are not cheating. While I don't have a problem with that mechanism per se (after all, proceeding on a meditation path *is* supposed to be a difficult task), I really don't see why we have to wait a LONG time until we can try again after giving a wrong answer. Currently (after level 6) the time to wait is 24 days, so - with 5 possible answers - the time we'd have to wait to reach the next level would be 3 months in the worst case (if you get 4 answers wrong)! So here is my suggestion: please reduce the time to wait for the next attempt drastically - possibly to a couple of days instead of almost 4 weeks. (I could also imagine a "progressive model", like 2 days after the first failure, 4 days after the second, 1 week after the third and so on.) EDIT (because some of you mentioned this): Of course I know about the answers on the internet. But this is not about "cheating", but it is supposed to be a suggestion in favor of a better game mechanism. Besides that, please try to find the answers for levels > 12 on the internet...

  16. It would be wonderful if there were a way to see how long till you can do next enlightenment on someone without having to click light path on the player. I have had quite a few people travel over to find out it was still too early. Maybe an option in path leaders when you drop your rug?
  17. This is an honest question I'd really like to get some answers to. My character is a follower of Fo planning to go priest of Fo on the epic server. As such the path of love seems natural for him RP-wise. But it just looks... gimped to me. I looked at insanity and it seems to have in it the workings for an INCREDIBLY powerful Fo priest. Here is my analysis. Please point out if I am wrong or under/overvaluing an ability. All my knowledge comes from the wiki so I could very well be wrong. 1st Ability Refresh vs. Clean Wound. Once every 18 hours you can fully feed someone (including yourself) and give them 99% nutrition. Solid useful ability... though this is pretty much a once a day thing. Clean Wound allows you to clean an infected wound. From the sounds of it an unlimited number of times. I'm assuming that could really come in handy while fighting HoTs players. Not too handy otherwise. And I can always use spells to deal with infected wounds as a Fo priest. I'm going to say Love narrowly wins this one. 2nd Ability Enchant vs. Fill. When I first heard of enchant I thought that ability alone justified the path of love. Now I kind of wonder... what's the point? It makes trees so you can't chop them and it used to make grass so it couldn't be trampled or grazed away but I guess that got nerfed. So I could plant thorn bushes around my place that only Fo priests and those they protect can get through? No enchanted thorns do no damage. I could enchant rare trees and fruit trees I don't want people to cut so I can harvest them for fruits and sprouts... no they can't be harvested or have their sprouts picked... I could use it to protect a tree I assign some RP value to so as long as I look after it, it will never die? No... you can't prune enchanted trees... SO what is the point?!?!?! .......I have no idea. Fill can be used to fill food/water and gives 30-60 nutrition once a day. Kind of useless in my opinion as it's easy to get 30-60 nutrition food for anyone who is this far into the game. That makes both abilities pretty useless. This round is tied. 3rd Ability Love Effect vs. Teleport. Once every 18 hours (so once a day in most cases) I can make all animals within a large radius friendly to me for 3 minutes unless the are tamed / dominated by an enemy player. Marginally useful if this includes trolls and other things that won't already be friendly to my Fo priest after 60 faith. Even then it could be kind of handy if my favor is below 40. Now teleport can be used once every hour to randomly teleport me anywhere on the map. That could be a cliff, lava, middle of the ocean or inside someone's deed. Could also be a perfectly safe and regular location. So I'm surrounded by a superior force of enemy players I have little chance of escaping... even on their home server this spell offers me a chance of survival. On ours... I would have to have extremely bad luck not to. Especially if I have some favor filled gems left. I can heal my wounds and refresh my stamina. This can get me out of most situations other than being locked inside someone's fence, in which case I could use teleport again in another hour. So I say insanity is the CLEAR winner on this one. It's a marginally useful ability one a day or a very useful one, once an hour. 4th Ability Fast Healing vs. Shield of The Gone. Fast healing makes it so all of your wounds heal faster. It even makes medium wounds heal 3 per tick. Not bad, especially if it stacks with the already enhanced healing rate I get as a follower of Fo. Shield of The Gones halves damage and healing received, effectively doubling my health. Also a quite solid ability. But then look at this spell. What's half of infinity? Infinity. If my assumption that this heals you entirely even with shield of the gone is correct... Think about how powerful a Fo pries with Shield of The Gone and a bag full of favor filled gems would be... Correct me if I am wrong on any of this but I am putting down insanity as the clear winner here. Overall While they are fairly close with love even leading a bit at the start, the 2nd to abilities blow love clean out of the water. The insane Fo priest is able to heal his doubled health entirely and teleport away if overwhelmed, while the loving Fo priest just enjoys some buffs to the fast healing and animal protection abilities he already has. Please weigh in with your comments and analysis. Especially if you know more than I do about these paths or Fo priests.

  22. so I was reading the wiki about meditation and the paths and the like, it mentioned once you get to 15 skill you can find special tiles to get a question to start on a path. Now I know that since I am going for path of insanity that it will not tell me that it's a special tile in the mines I am resting in, but once I rest on a spot and it doesn't ask me a question do I just move on to another tile? or should I rest on each tile multiple times? also I heard that the tiles that are special change occasionally, does anyone know how often?
  23. Well, technically this may not really be a bug, but I suspect something is missing. I finally reached 80 meditation skill on the path of love and totally fail to get the question for level 12. Having gone through this procedure 11 times before I am well aware that I have to try several times on a special love tile - and that's what I have been doing for the last couple of hours. I'm using a 62ql exquisite meditation rug and meditated more than 40 times already without ever getting the question. This is strange. Doing this at 50, 60, 70 meditation I never needed more than 10 attempts, so something might be wrong here. Is it possible that the 12th question for the PoL is not present in the game yet? (I know that nobody reached that level before, so I am a bit suspicious...) Could someone from the dev team please check this?
