  1. Hello all, I used to love to play Wurm a while back, and I would play it frequently on my laptop with no issues. Recently, I have decided to get back into the game, but I can barely even move due to lag (still playing on my laptop). What technical issues might be causing this, or is this just due to a general update of the game? I've already lowered all of my graphics settings to no avail. Please help! I love Wurm and am dying to play.
  2. I call tower guards and despite the usual "I see ... " and "I will help with ..." nothing happens. They stand where they are and don't move. You can call them ten times, they answer, but don't run to help. Spirits are saying "I will take care of...." every few seconds, and nothing happens. They keep saying it over and again, despite there being other dangerous mobs right at the token of my deed. (Lava spider on the token, deed is huge). The spirit is not taking care of the mob he is spamming local with, let alone the ones on deed. I have had several lagging sessions, seriously lagging. I have been booted and crashed several times tonight. I have had an issue where I was booted off straight after connecting. This happened on three different clients. My animals are still not moving to graze, they stand in fields of grass on a pack tile as if they have a saddle on. When can we expect these things to be sorted? Thanks.
  3. Now we have damage and quality which covers roughly the same aspect of game. 50QL spear with 50DMG acts like 25ql spear yeah? My idea is to remove DMG stuff. If you make 10ql rake.. and use it, ql should drop. Nothing more nothing less, since now, we have to calculate the dmg impact on usability aspect. Remove it... it will remove at least 3 different "calculations" and thus would make game less laggy. ------------------------------------------------ Stuff that would dissapear : 1) Damage indicator - with millions of things to calculate 2) Damage to efficient QL formula (second part as numerous as previous) 3) all repairing calculations - third as much. Replace it with QL itself or rename it to a condition. (but quality sounds better)

Its days now im getting lag moving and freezed in sametime cant do nothing after 5 minute only can do is just quit wurm here is what i get from my end: unstoppable lag moving very slow and 5meter at frame tiles, moutains, building, object when rotate become without texture black or mixed with other near tiles grafic Please can i know if there are anythings i have missed in the news or is a new bug in the client java or else can i have some info thanks.
  5. I absolutely love this game. My biggest problem at the moment is lag. I have done everything I need to do to my computer and graphics settings, but ever since the big move of servers, my FPS went from around 20 (average) to 6 (average). Now, 20 is nothing to brag about considering I have a souped up gaming computer and high speed internet, but it was quite playable with no problems in the least. I was a happy little wurmian. But now, at 6 FPS, I am a disgusted little wurmian. I can no longer go off far from my place because my FPS goes down to 2 (which is death, because you can no longer maneuver around) and I sometimes get disconnected. (which can also be death) So now, since I am confined to my place, doing nothing but my daily chores, due to the constant lag, I have decided to leave you great people. I will miss my friends and miss Wurm tremendously, but my premium time runs out on the 10th, and I've decided not to renew it any longer until there are improved changes. This hurts me, because Wurm is my home away from home, but it's just not worth paying for when I can't even play it.
  6. I have been experiencing one second lagging on all actions going up to about four to five minute lagging, and then back to one second lagging. My frame rate is between 40 and 60. This lagging has been happening for about a week (so not right after the server move, but about a week after it moved, my lagging started). Last night I was trying to go to sleep in a bed, and the second I was supposed to log off, asleep, I was logged back in as the server thought I was just disconnected. I just quit the game after that. The lagging is making it impossible to play the game, I have to wait before going through doors or gates, my cart is not going where I steer it, I have to wait for refresh to finish before I can select an action to do, etc. It happens whether I am alone in local or with others (but mostly I am alone in local on my deed, where I never experienced lagging before). I did the trace for hopping to Wurm and found that I hop about 25 times to get to the Wurm server. In game I live on Release. Here is the log, please help if you can.   7. Hello! I'm trying to get Wurm to work on a different laptop from the one I use. This one is a Dell Inspiron 1545, it has been freshly reformatted, all of the drivers installed, and Windows XP installed as the OS. It uses a wireless connection. The laptop is completely clean, completely fresh, and the only things installed on the laptop are the basic drivers, Mozilla Firefox, and Wurm. When Wurm opens after hitting 'Play' on the Launcher, it goes through the loading screen normally, loads the game-world at a normal speed, but everything takes 5 seconds to update between actions, and even then, it's extremely choppy. I sit and wait for the trees to move and sway, and they take at least 5 seconds to move once; I hover over an item or tile, and it takes at least 5 seconds for the game to highlight the item or tile; I try to move, and I have to hold down the movement key (forward, for example) for quite some time and 5 seconds later, I'll be running into a wall or fence. It's only crashed once in the several times I've attempted to play, but since the lag is so murderous, I just exit normally. The laptop shares the internet with a desktop that plays Wurm. However, this desktop has very little lag compared to this laptop, and there is another laptop that works perfectly and has a completely A-OK connection with the same internet. What could be the problem with Wurm? Is there a problem with the laptop? Any advice and help is welcome. :'c
  8. Hello, a CA Help member told me to register here and post my problem... She helped me a little with it. I set everything to almost low, no VBO, no shadows, no reflections, disabled sun glare, enabled compressed textures (looks awful), ect. It did help a little but I want the most FPS I can squeeze out. I can run almost all other games that I have with little lag! (including unreal development kit games) Can anyone help, I would love to play this without lag and lag spikes! (NOTE: I barely have any processors taking CPU)
  9. So after the fight on JKH last night against a group of seven BLers, there was something that needed to be addressed. It wasn't the attitudes of the players on either side. It wasn't any malicious action or intent. It was the lag. We got on a knar and chased BL. I can't say specifically how bad it was for others, but I was averaging 10-20 FPS until the moment we popped local of enemies. At that point, my framerate instantly dropped below 10. BL got away, we sailed around until we got some horses to chase them inland. As we got to the edge of their local, my framerate again (instantly) dropped below 5. I had to relog mid chase, which did little to help. As we engaged, my framerate was 3 FPS at best, often around 1. I felt like I was watching a slide show of a PvP video. I could not mouse over anyone to see a name or target. I could not move to get into an advantageous position or to get away from an aggressor. I ended up popping defensive at half health and trying to get away, as I could not deal with the lag. I died backing away. We managed to kill the BLers, but that isn't the point. On both sides, we experienced horrible lag. Neither side was at their best because we were all lagging. Both sides had players that needed to relog mid-fight. How can you PvP when you can't even tell what's going on, take any action, or move your character? Please, this is something that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. I don't care if the servers have to be shut down for a month, fix it.
  10. I play from the UK broadband connection. I've been playing 3 days, first 24 hours were sweet, built my shed, fenced off some land, did some mining all on the highest settings. I was very impressed. Day 2 and day 3 it has taken over a minute to do even the simplest task, like move an item from my inventory to a forge, The only action not lagging is moving around. I even put the settings down to low on everything but that doesn't help. This awful lag just makes the game unplayable for me at the moment. Are the servers lagging for everyone ? or it is just me ? thanks.

tutorial area I`m guessing it has to do with my integrated graphics card and also the 1Gb of RAM but still this game is actually supposed to be runnable on old pcs.

Some of the textures (house walls especially) have lots of thin black vertical lines running through them that dance back and forth the whole time I'm playing and it takes forever to walk anywhere because I get horrible lag when I try to turn right or left. Otherwise the things I've tried seem to be working.
  13. My computer: two-year-old Macbook Pro CPU: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 RAM: 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB Not a bad machine; it runs all other games with decent settings. Before the 1.1 update, my computer ran Wurm Online fairly well, with moderate graphics settings and something like 20-30 fps. Since the 1.1 update, which was supposedly going to increase performance, my FPS has dropped to about 4. I have lowered all graphics/advanced graphics settings to their minimum, and even disabled VBO support and pbuffer, but this only gave me another 1-2 FPS, which is still unplayable, even putting aside that the world looks beyond hideous. I have already seen the thread about "optimal settings" on an older machine, and even tried the settings recommended there, but that didn't help either, so please don't spam me with links to it. It will NOT help me, thank you. As everyone else I spoke to in-game has had increased performance since the update, and since they were using Windows, I surmise that this is a compatibility glitch with Apple's Java release.
  14. I log into the game just fine, I can right click and the menu refreshes...for about 6 seconds I can do this...then all of a sudden it stops refreshing. No chat updates, no action updates. Nothing. I'm stuck. I log out and back in, same thing. I can do things for a few seconds and then....again nothing. I ping the server at about 297ms, so that's not the problem. Also, my internet is fine otherwise, I can play first person shooters online in America and Europe without a problem. It's not a Java problem, since I've tried older, and the new version of Java. Everything is fine on that side. The only problem I can think of is that I'm located in China, but I've been playing for a long time with no problems, only recently has this become a problem. It's frustrating because my premium time is running out and I can't play.
  15. I start wurm, and everything loads and runs fine for about 5 minutes, then the latency starts to creep in. At about the 6 minute mark Ill start getting "refreshing" in my right click menu's. And my horse/boat model will take about 3-5 seconds to actually turn when I turn. Shortly after this starts happening the latency really takes over. Right click menu's say "refreshing", but wont refresh. I can still move, but I cant pass through doors or gates, and now my horse/boat model WONT turn when I do, (but it will still move with me) During time of travel, this "Silent DC" as I call it can happen without my noticing, Upon arrival at my destination I quickly notice the refreshing in my menu's and relog, only to find myself back at where I began the journey. One boat trip was over half the server away. DId not actually move one oar-stroke >_< Its like the worlds frozen, and Im the only thawed one!!! Any help at all will be much appreciated.   16. I'm not sure if this is the place to post this but I was told to post my issue on the forums. I've been playing WURM for close to 4 months now without too many issues despite my less than adequate system Ive been running it on. Recently, however, I've been experiencing unexpected crashes without error messages to explain why. Because of this, up til now, I haven't been able to post any error info coinciding with my crashes. My only guess is that it has something to do with the latest update since I wasnt experiencing them before said update. I've explained my problem to CA Help and a GM and was told by both to post my problem here for a solution. Without a error Message I have been unable to do so but I recently crashed today and finally got a message.   17. I logged on this morning on my alt (average settings) and I was getting roughly 20-30+fps steadily. I finished work on my alt so I logged off and then went onto my main (same settings) and ever since I've logged on the highest fps I got was 15-20fps and that only lasts for maximum 5seconds, the rest of the time it's around 5fps. There's no way it's my connection, my laptop seeing as I can get more fps with more settings 1 minute and the next minute with minimum settings I can only get maximum 20fps. With minimum settings my CPU is constantly at 90+% usage, and my ram is almost at 80% usage.(unusual i know) Current settings put CPU usage at around 70% and ram usage around 45-55% So clearly my laptop isn't struggling with running wurm. Anyone got any tips on how to reduce lag other than just have a big rant and blame rolf?
  18. When something is butchered off deed burying the butchered animal should happen at the end of the butchering. It should be one process. Butcher and then bury in one connected action. So if I butcher something off a deed then after it gets butchered I should automatically go into a bury action. If you don't have a shovel than I should not be able to butcher. Why do this? To reduce the item count on the servers. Areas become littered with huge numbers of butchered animals that no one seems to care about burying. All of these butchered animals cause a drag on the servers. Either that or increase the decay rate of butchered animals so they are gone in a rl hour or less.
  19. Anyone else getting massive amounts of latency between the hours of 8:00GMT to 15:00GMT? When I mean massive I mean 10+ minutes of just nothing. Hoping any other aussies can give their input because I hope it's not just me.
  20. Yesterday i updated my Java, after my computer had been telling me to for a while. I hold off because im worried about the effects on the game as i find java completely useless. Last night, the game was working fine, but then, not to my surprise, today the game has been unplayable. Everytime i log in i disconnect right away...I walk 3 steps and i freeze...my graphics for the surrounding area just disappear and im left with a blank canvas of rolling hills...I have to d/c myself and reconnect to move and then it happens again in 5 minutes. Can anyone give a completely computer illiterate gal like me a little advice? would be appreciated
  21. My machine has: Intel Core i3 M 380 @ 2.53GHz × 4, NVidia GeForce 315M, 3,7 GiB RAM. The system i Ubuntu Pangolin and uses normally 10% CPU and 1,1 GiB RAM. Wurm is using moderate settings and running at +/- 30 fps using 150-200% CPU, 800 MiB RAM. and less than 1KiB/s Network. Normally, that is. but then Wurm repeatedly (with distances of 5-30s) does something and I get a Network burst of anywhere up to 120 KiB followed by a CPU Burst of 400% and Wurm completely stops drawing any frames. for a full second or more. I basically go from 30 fps to 0 fps and back to 30 fps. Now comes the important part: Wurm does the same even when I turn the World Render Off. There is litterally nothing to draw besides the gui, but Wurm can't do it. This is practically shouting classic Multithreading lockup. Rendering is a read only process. there is nothing that needs to be thread save. And it would be nice if that sudden load could be spread more evenly, it's also lugging down the entire System.

Okay people i have a very badass problem, i just dowload the game and i wanna play, i start the tutorial and it was just a little bit lagged, later, more lag, and more, and MORE after that i finish the tutorial and the lag was so samn big that it was impossible to can play, after that the game starts crashing, or start to frezze, i have a good computer, the graphics card is a Nvidia GT240 i have 4GB of RAM, my procesor is an Intel i3, so the computer is not the problem, the internet either because i can talk in skype while i`m using internet and everything works perfect. Please... if you are a know-it-all just close this page... before I am forced to call you an ------for saying "the problem is you have a laptop" Specs Java: 7.0.30.5 DX: 11 Processor: Intel® Core i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz Memory: 6144MB RAM Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit GPU: GeForce GT 525M Dedicated Vram: 1024MB DDR3 Now my GPU is set to override all power settings when the java program is running, and I manually set it to allow maximum performance to the java program. Frame wise, when the game is running averages at 45-60FPS with 45 being in a heavy city like indy spawn.. The dips occur infrequently and I do not notice any real memory leak on the java program itself( IE it growing out of control with it's memory usage) It stays steady at 1 gig private and 1.2-1.5 gigs virtual in size. You can see in the picture below via CPU and GPU usage every time it hangs as the usage goes to nothing. So any and all help in fixing this small annoyance is much appreciated.   24. I was just wondering if anyone has problems relatable to mine. I've monitered my connection, went through my processes, run windows defender a few times, all to determine if it was my system which is clogging it up. AMD Quadcore. 4 Gig. 1 Gig GFX. 1 Tera HD. 54Mbps Connect. When I start up playing, I can usually get a good solid 30 seconds of play in. After that, the client goes through a tremendous lag spike which can last sometimes, as long as 10 minutes. The client will re-update, but it makes all tasks, even the simple act of going through a door, incredibly hard. Everyone in my Alliance reports that their clients are moving along just fine and dandy. I can't even finish putting up a darn roof. Anyone?
