  1. I am thinking the auction house will be great for equalizing the prices of goods sold from player to player. It will also be another money-sink for the economy.
  2. I have been tooting that horn since NFI turned one year old. Whatever the technical limitations are, they should figure it out and DO IT. I really believe opening the border will create a boon similar to what happened when Independence opened up. That was a day to remember!!!
  3. Impressive. Most impressive.
  4. Wurm Unlimited shows a different publisher on Steam. They are not Code Club AB. They are named Plug In Digital, which publishes many dozens of games on Steam. I wonder why Code Club AB is not publishing WU?
  5. I get your points. I don't think you are understanding mine though. I have played on the PVP servers a few times in the last 14 years. I have always been told the same thing. "Don't worry about losing your gear, we (kingdom mates) will make sure it is replaced. That is the mentality on PVP servers whether we agree with what that politic resembles or not. My comments were about the general mentality of PVE vs PVP servers, specifically in the context of personal belongings. People on PVP servers tend to not care so much about losing "precious" gear because they know they will eventually get replaced. Whereas, on PVE servers, people work to achieve those things knowing they will not lose them. I made no comparisons beyond that observation.
  6. I think PVP and PVE require two differnent mentalities. PVE is all about self and going at it alone or in a group, but ultimately it is about self - collecting things that you eventually treasure and don't want to lose. PVP requires a communal attitude where you have things but they are not yours, they are the kingdom's stuff. Everyone builds to equip the kingdom. Self is lost in the struggle.
  7. Congrats. What exactly does Supreme lend to the forge?
  8. I have been in Wurm hibernation for about 2 years now. I buy silver to maintain my deed during the Black Friday window so I can hold on to the items I have accumulated the past 14 years, including a very special COG my son built on Jenn-Kellon Home the day before Independence was discovered. What prevents me from stepping out of this self-imposed hibernation is the fact that the powers-that-be will not move forward with suggestions that I believe will actually help the game grow. Call me selfish, I don't care. I know we all have our list of features we feel are more important. I think what bugs me most is the emphasis on the new player experience, which has been milked now for years. I mean YEARS! It seems like everyone in the company sees it as the Holy Grail of opportunities to get Wurm to explode in growth. I get it, but then I don't get it. At some point, they need to consider the players. PVP is shoved in the closet right beside Epic which hasn't seen the light of day in who knows when. Mind you, I don't even play PVP and Epic -- but the point is, those are two sub-groups of current players that are just "expected" to hang around and wait indefinitely, while new systems come online that most players never even wanted in the first place. My particular want is - NO BORDERS. Yes, I am that guy that keeps trumpeting, "Wurmians Without Borders!" Anyway, while this tug-of-war between financials and QOL features continues, I will sit right here and watch and wait for someone to pull the right strings to get me back. There is MONEY to be made. Wurmians are some of the most devoted gamers you will ever meet. But you can't take them for granted, forever...
  9. It is a suggestion as much as a critique.
  10. Before I rant, I really do appreciate the Black Friday sale each year. Even if it was for one day only, I would jump on it. But I want to nitpick something that is frustrating to me. Something feels OFF about the sale and I will tell you what it is. I am noticing a lot of games and gaming sites are having sales this week - the whole week! They are advertising great discounts like 75% off, 60%, 50% off subs this week, etc.. Wurm also has a sale, but it lacks the punch it claims to have. Wurm announces up to 30% OFF THIS WEEK ONLY... That's simply misleading. It is up to 30% off for 1 whole minute on Nov. 23rd., and then all day from Nov. 24th to Nov. 26th (3 whole days) and then six hours on Nov. 27th. The sale is WITHIN the week, but NOT a week. Seriously? Why the numbers game? Why the deceptive messaging? Why is the Wurm Online sale window so incredibly strange? Why proclaim THIS WEEK ONLY, when actually, it is just ~3.25 days? Why am I complaining about it? I will tell you why. This is the kind of misleading advertising (along beside fake art) that contributes to a bad reputation (my opinion about the decision - not any persons specifically). And to top it off, I really appreciate all the great goodies that are available all the way out to December 2nd! So, I get 3.25 days to catch a coin sale, and then 8.25 days to spend them. It seems to me it should have been flipped around. It should be 8+ days to getting the 30% off discounts and only 3+ days pick up items I want. May I suggest flipping it around next year? You might get a lot more sales if you give more time to obtain them. Ok, rant over. My 2c. Happy Thanksgiving.
  11. Simply put, if the sale is deprecated, so are my shop purchases.
  12. I respectfully disagree. Part of the lure of Wurm Online for me was the very essence of striking out and going it alone. I think new players that genuinely thrive in Wurm are those who discover the challenges you mention and overcome them. Let's face it, Wurm is not for everyone. I am glad your second attempt was successful. Wurm is mostly for those who are willing to make a second attempt, and a third, and a fourth, etc.
  13. This update ranks as one of the best I have seen in years. It is packed with solid information backed by screenshots and intimate details, and is not embellished with non-sense just to fill up a post. The features being prepped are genuinely thoughtful additions that will make the game more interesting and fun. I have heard for years how non-Wurmians and Wurmians alike criticize Wurm's graphics. I think those days should be over. Wurm looks absolutely fantastic now compared to how it was when I started 14 years ago. All-in-all, this is a huge win for Wurm Online, that such progress has been made under such a cloud as has been hovering over the game of late.
  14. Wurn isn't pay to win. It is pay to look good.
  15. - Open borders to spur travel and new deeds - Universal (PVE) merchant browsing to spur trade - More portal options (PVE) to accommodate merchant transactions - More (genuine) advertising to promote the game.
  16. Generation X player here that grew up in the seventies and eighties. I think my generation, which remembers life before computers, appreciates the way complex games and especially sandbox games feed the imaginations we developed long before computers came out. Later generations seem to have less appreciation for imagination, and thus less patience for complex games. While my generation was forced to use imagination to create entertainment, today's entertainment requires very little imagination. That is my take and opinion as to why the population of Wurm is mostly us older folks.
  17. feedback

I have held this in long enough... Honestly, I feel sorry for this CEO. Not only does he have the incredible responsibility of keeping this game profitable so the company can justify keeping the lights on, but he also has to put up with unknown numbers of players crying and fussing about every decision that is made every day of the week. I have been in software for over 18 years. I deal with government customers that use our software all the time, so I am quite familiar with the entitlement mindset. But government employees (those that can spend someone else's money) cannot hold a candle to the level of entitlement attitude that we gamers seem to have with our games, and especially in the MMO realm. Step back and take a reality check. There is not a one of us that will lose a paycheck if Wurm Online is shuttered, except for the few paid staff here. We will just jump to the next MMO and talk about the good-old days of Wurm with a whole new bunch of gamers. This man could well lose part of his livelihood. But do we care? Nary-a-bit! We nit-pick every sentence he writes, cross-examine every inference of every statement that is made, and then have the audacity to rake him over the coals if he misspeaks a single thing. People, this is a G A M E. I am pointing the finger at myself as much as anyone. Believe me, I have had my share of things to say about decisions made in Wurm Online in the last 14 years. But we MUST NOT digress to criticizing a person, especially the one whose livelihood depends upon the success of our beloved Wurm Online. Can't we try to be a little lot more gracious, forgiving, reasonable, and understanding? Give the guy some room to breathe! In the current storm that is the future of Wurm Online, this is NOT the easiest ship to steer, and we are not the easiest crew to work with. We can jump ship at any moment. He goes down with it.
  18. I suggest working on features that help players reach/interact with other players. Here are some ideas. - Open Borders - yep #1 in my book. - More Fast Travel options - The precedent is there (portals). Allow players to create a portal on their deed to invite players from other portals on other deeds. Great for X-A-Longs. Not everyone has a priest at his disposal. - Wagoneer Harbors. - Wagoneer ships that can ship bulk items from shore to shore. Same mechanics, just port to port instead of wagoneer to wagoneer. - Remove nonsense (as in all) mailing restrictions on items to help crafters sell their goods more easily. - Look at some of the fantasic Wurm Unlimited features added and consider them for Wurm Online. I could go on and on... Make the game more accessible to players and for players. Don't stop giving Eye Candy, but don't forget about Functionality!
  19. Creating more territory has always been a tool used to bolster financial stability. Today, lands are mostly deserted archeology sites except for the choicest locations which are typically along shorelines, but not always. However, since the sand in the sandbox can be turned over and over again, there are still vast portions of land to be claimed. The very last thing Wurm Online needs is yet another map. Find a not-so-pristine spot along a not-so-pristine shore and make it your own. Half the fun of Wurm Online is taking something and turning it into something else.
  20. It seems to me the attempt to Re-brand Wurm Online has resulted in De-branding it. Rather than showcasing everything that makes Wurm unique and different from other games, the new website look and content erase those distinctions so that Wurm is just like all the rest of the sandbox games out there. Wurm is NOT like all the rest. Did anyone else feel like you clicked on Albion's website when you looked at the new logo for the first time? The particle-laden fire effects are eerily similar to Life is Feudal. I thought the Steam launch graphics took way too much liberty in deviating from game content, but this new sight is 5x worse. Clearly, the writers and the artists have not played this game. But it is important to note, the fault is not with them! They are doing what they are paid to do, and I say, Good job, artists. Good job, writers. You have beautifully designed and described a sandbox MMO... just not Wurm Online.
  21. New Branding? So, Wurm Online is going to be renamed to something else? There is a LOT of history and recognition among gamers in that name. I hope any renaming of the game respects the history.
  22. Buying and selling characters is now illegal.
  23. If it comes back as that, I won't give it a second look.
