  1. WO Steam Discussion

Yes.. My fustration is about the fact, that nobody told us, that they will not develop the WU, as they are developing WO. If i would know that, i would have never bought WU in first place. The initial information was, that it's going to be WO on Private servers. Now it's what, basicly dumping everything on modders, for the game to have somewhat development. Basicly, people were lured in, by having same Wurm Online, on private servers. I feel betrayed, simple as that.

I don't know how naive people are, if they still do not understand, that this is pure greediness from the developers. Let's point some of the bulls**t what i see here: 1. New seperate servers, which will require: * New character (New skills) which obviously, you need premium for. 2. Literally, THE SAME game, on a new server (Yaaay, same stuff on a new server) - Why?? Let me explain... You are going to start on a new, fresh server, so... * Noone will have any source of generating income, so mainly all the silver obtained will come from what? ---> Silver shop, that's right! * Ohh and yes... you forgot, no deeds will exist, so what do we do? ---> Silver shop! Buy silver for your deed. (YAY) 3. This is the biggest and MOST obvious flaw of the whole idea. What is going to happen in long-term? Lets consider future A): * New server has been launched, it is independent of all the other wurm servers. People are grinding their skills, building their deeds, the map is fresh, stats are fresh, people feel the joy of new start. It seems to have been working, as people are investing their money into the game, but sadly, soon the reality catches up, and people wake up on the server, after months of playing, and realising... THIS is the same old game, we played on freedom. So what's different? Lets consider future B): * New server has been launched. Players have grinded their skills, built their deeds, economy is somewhat set in the server, people are trading, generating their income. And suddenly, Announcement -- Hey guys, we will connect Goood Ol' freedom servers with the new server, so you can enjoy the "big community". -- 1. The whole economy in the new server has crashed, and now is influenced by general freedom market -- 2. The players, who have started in the new server, now have 2 accounts on freedom. Basicly wasting time in grinding their new account in first place, because, why would you? So what is the future of wurm? Are we looking at new servers every 2 years, just to "start over"? I bought WU, and what happens in few months?? Developers no longer developing the game, WU is left as it pretty much was, dead... Kept alive by few great server owners, investing their time to actually DEVELOP the game (By modding). So what will happen with Steam-release? Same what happend with Reign of Kings (Does someone remember the game?) They basicly released the game, stopped development, some bugfixes now and then. Now, go in Steam page and read the reviews.Once you break the trust of the playerbase, GL getting it back.

Hardcore grinding games, like Wurm is dying. If you want to be on a sinking ship, keep on sailing. If you need an example, look at Runescape. New runescape is a joke of grind in comparison to the old one. The truth is, wurm must adapt to the new generation of gaming, in order to survive. Wurm is fun, the way it is, WHEN there are enough players, but it has not been for ages now. You talk about new players? What you expect the new players to see? You expect new players to see this "exciting" combat? You expect non-hardcore grinding players to sit hours at the forge, improving that good old cauldron full with needles? I've spoken with dozen ex-wurmians, what all of them said is the same. Game got boring. You keep sitting at that forge improving your needles (which you will dump afterwards, anyways), just to get that skill to 70. The time you spent doing that, basicly burned you through, and you got sick of it. There are few dozen of players who enjoy doing that. Good luck running MMO, with that limited of a playerbase. Seeing some posts about the "major updates", new content, i'm shocked... Tell me, what update was so major? New textures? New furniture? New sounds? Sheesh.. Wurm Unlimited is MUCH greater than Wurm Online. Passionate server owners developing their plugins, implementing new stuff into the game, for the fun of it. They are doing it not for the profit, but for the sake of content. There is an actual development involved in the servers. Some i've found way more fun than WO. Stop trying to pour the water out of a sinking ship, fix the holes, before doing so.

It does not matter, if the current players want to pvp, Rolf mentioned about plans of releasing epic-like server. And in general, I mean, why are you releasing same old game, over and over? You literally make new clusters, seperate servers, basicly getting money out of people buying premium, and then just join them together, and the loop goes on, basicly fooling the people into spending, spending, spending money into the same product. Of course, the server is different, the map is fresh, you start from the scratch - but what changes? Nothing. Instead of releasing the same old game, into a new server, how about releasing a new idea, new scenario into a new server? Challange is an great example, of trying out new things, on new servers. Why the hell you need another freedom server? So people can start to play in it, leave old freedom, and basicly re-start it, for it to be later joined together with old freedom? What is the point, tell me? If you want a new map, why don't you make yearly wipes? Wurm has reached the point of stagnation, years ago. I agree, there are some texture changes, there are new furniture. But really, what's different? Tell me, what feels new, since you started playing. What do you do on daily basis? There is no road for the game. MMORPG games, in order to survive, have to adapt, have to invent new things, for people, to not feel drained, not to feel the point of burnout, some do it successfully, at some parts. But let's state the obvious, wurm has been dying, dying, dying. How many new people you see around? Don't get me wrong, Wurm will be my most favorite game, i ever played. But it's been years, and i mean years, of the same problems being pointed out.

About PvP: If you are hoping to receive a lot of new players, outside of the current playerbase, you are totally wrong. Let's all be honest, the reason why Wurm has such a problem to keep the playerbase, is the main reason, why the game is so beautiful - Harcore grind. It's such an unfriendly game for newbies. I will be honest, You do not have anything new to offer, why the hell you would wish to release the same product, in an new platform, without offering anything new. What will the new release bring? It feels like there are so many tries to re-start the same old game, and with the main reason, being, so everyone can start from the same level. Eventually everything crumbles back to dust, again. I really love the game, but I feel betrayed. You are basicly re-starting the same old game, same old style, over these years, i do not understand... If you want to really, resurrect the game, you must adapt to the time. I'm feeling like this is another way to try to suck out, as much as you can, from a dying fruit. Take the core of the game - The ultimate sandbox. Wurm offers what nothing can, freedom to do what you want, as you want. Now you have the core, put it into something brand, brand new. Stop re-starting the same old game, bring something new.
  6. Seems quite cool! Reminds me of challange, some things to tweak, but really great for fast paced action.
  7. Osiris looks like Arc... Worlds Adrift is quite laggy, freezes whenever you are rendering new places.
  8. Nah, this is intended to be as review, for those who are thinking to try it out, this is my opinion, i've played it for umm, month or so.
  9. Hello, As fellow, retired Wurmian, here to share few impressions, what i have gained from this game, in case if someone is on the bridge i was, Worth / Not Worth to buy it. Gloria Victis - Open world, sandbox MMORPG: http://gloriavictisgame.com/ Gloria Victis in short is PVP based game, where you can create your guild and fight with your friends. Quite nice crafting system aswell. The game has partial loot system and level system (1 - 100) and you are able to spend points, which you gain by leveling, in 3 different skill types (at the moment) - Strength, Constitution, Dexterity. Also there is passive ability branch, which also allows to customize your character further. The game is mostly focused on PVP battles and gaining glory, which you can see in the Glory table ( The ranking basicly). ** SHORT LIST OF + / - ** Let's begin with "+" : * Quite rich and REALISTIC weaponry and armoury to choose from. * Nice crafting system, tho it reminds me of other MMORPGs, but still. * Game only has one time payment ( that is when you buy the game), no actual $$$ shop. * Nice character customization options. * Partial loot system, there is loot points, you can use to loot (NOT full-loot pvp) * GREAT PLANS FOR FUTURE Proceed with "-": * The game still has de-sync issues, PVP is quite bugged, once you learn it, it's okay... (New combat animations are in-development, so we shall see..) * The game, once you reach level 100, becomes quite booring, besides PVP, there is nothing to do, except crafting. * End game items are easy to get.. * Game still has quite alot of bugs, tho it is in Alpha. * The economy is very weak. There is currency in the game, but players do not really use it, and otherwise, it is quite useless ( People trade with resources ) * Guild system - Guild, which has captured an castle, doesn't really have a benefit from it. Yes... you have your guild crest in the flag, but besides that, nothing * It is hard to catch anyone. There is no "Hurt" status, or slowing down when you are injuried. My conclusion: Developers has great plans for the game. Guilds will have benefits from owning castles, new realistic combat animations, Active abilities ( Let's hope they leave it skill based, not click based), Mounts, New faction to play - Azabs (Inspired by Arabs?) and lot of other cool features. The plans would make a great, great game, the PVP future is the real deal, to fight over lands, to gain control and gain resources. But there is my concern about it. The game is developed by fairly small developer team, and looks like it's been in development for 3,5 years?? The plans are great, but... let's see how that works out, I do not want to call similarities to this game, because developers are still working on it, but there is serious concern, that it may end like Reign of Kings, let's see what does the developers do further! At the moment game is fun, but it's quite a mess, de-sync cause people to wait for the update, new players are leaving, because they simply do not understand, what it is, and how to use it. Be as it may, I would rate this game: 6/10 It has great potential to become great PVP based sandbox MMORPG, which is rarely seen on the market today, Yet all the bugs and problems in the game, are causing doubt. I would recommend to wait till the Combat animation update comes out, and see, if the problems are fixed. If you need any help or just chat, My nickname: Lord_Satyr, Or add me on steam: HERE Thanks for reading, Satyrns
  10. I feel like, the timers are way too fast... I don't want to see dirtwalls rekt in less than half minute
  11. Server looks cool. But what i find disturbing is, that for me, personally, I do not see the point to run server with same skill gain as WO has, when it won't get same population( And Epic has low population, but still), that is just my opinion, and as there are already quite populated low rate servers... But overall, very nice server. Yes, i also received invites, but that is very nice from owner, to try to get population into the server, i do not see, why people are so pissed about it. +1 for the server Satyrns
  12. Looks interesting, but i'm afraid it's just as same as other MMORPGs. You will get your house and stuff, if you buy stuff. The family part is quite intresting. Nothing else looks unique, somehow similiar to other games.
  13. They should recruit you man... Seriously What i didn't see is... Maybe make going thru players possible? What is the point of having that big ass tower shield, if people can pass thru it? Maybe some more special stances(Not special moves) For example. With pike you could be able to "Pike phalanx", well basicly hold the pike down? And how about being able to decide what you do with that longsword? Pierce or slash (I mean, you swing it, so you should be doing it, not just random slash/pierce things) Overall, HUGE +1
  14. I don't think it was just the players. The whole Unlimited is pretty much dead.. It's hard to revive what's been dead for months ;(
  15. I found the concept very interesting. It's very nice. I see some slight tracks of GoT / LOTR, and something more, maybe? I'm big fan of those. It lacks playerbase tho ;(.
