  1. I've refrained from posting publicly because I don't want to cause drama. Seems like that ship has not only sailed, but is on fire out there somewhere.

I just want to say that this community is one of the best I've seen, and you deserve so much more than what you're getting here.

To the staff that read this, please know you are appreciated no matter what decisions you make.

To the rest of us, please be gentle with the team right now. Patience and even kind words will go far for those who have decided to stay and support us.

I'm going to keep hoping for the best here. I hope that Krister learns to listen to the community and let us all help grow Wurm. That's all I've ever asked for.

    Thanks for reading.

The new website was needed, Wurm growth is exciting.

I hope its placed correctly and the only focus isn't about making more money off players. Big corporations tend to forget about the community and it will murder a game [and their profits].

I just wanted to make an additional comment here.

I've spent a lot of time talking with Krister about this very topic. While the goal is to grow revenue for Wurm Online, the plan is to do so by improving the game and its associated web presence so that we can market something we are proud of. We all agree that the path forward is not to squeeze money out of our community, but to grow that community.

  3. Thank you for your post, Krister. Over the last week, I’ve shared with you comments, videos, and feedback I’ve received from the team and community, and it makes me happy to see ownership taken and a plan put forward to address that feedback. I feel that Malena’s talent will greatly enhance the website. I’d also like to thank Samool and the rest of the dev team for all their hard work organizing the feedback and helping formulate that plan and get the ball rolling. I believe this goes far toward helping us move forward and for Wurm to succeed.

I’d also like to give a big thank you to the community and the team. Your feedback helps drive us to do better, and that helps us make Wurm better for everyone. Wurm is special to me because of its charm and depth and because it has helped me grow as a person over the years.

While I may be taking a step back for now, I look forward to inviting more people to leave their mark on our world and community.

    Wurm is waiting.

    Be safe,

  4. Hey all!

With Krister's post made, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the beautiful time I've had at the helm here. Stepping down was a hard decision, but it is ultimately the right one for me and Wurm Online. I'm not going away, though. No, I plan on sticking around and maybe fixing a few bugs or adding new and exciting ones! I mean features! New and exciting features! I'll also still be here to help with advice where needed.

Wurm is poised to do great things in the coming months. I won't steal anyone's thunder, but I've never seen so many different initiatives being worked on at the same time before. Some will directly impact user experience, while others will drive new and exciting features in and out of the game. I'm proud of this team and what is being accomplished.

So if it's going so well, why am I stepping down? Wurm deserves a full-time person in this position. Some of you may know that Wurm Online has always been a part-time job for me. When I stepped up into this role, it was always intended to be temporary, as I knew I could not split my time between my career and Wurm. With Wurm set to do so many great things, the last thing I wanted was to be a bottleneck in that process.

With all that said, once again you all have my thanks. Between the community and the Wurm Team, I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with. Keep being awesome!

    Happy Wurming,
    Keenan

So... what happened in the last 4-5 days? Why did it take almost 5 days (work days, at that) to follow up?

Because we said what we came to say, and all I did was reiterate what was already said.

I'm locking this thread since it is no longer of any benefit to leave open at this point.

Once again, for those in the back, we'll have more information later this month.

  6. I apologize for the lack of response from us on this topic, and how it was brought up as well.

We were intending this to simply be an FYI that this is coming, with the more details to come including what would be happening with the deed discount.

Right now we are gathering information so we can provide those details to you all, so we ask for patience while we do that.

Rather than turn down the whole game's brightness level, perhaps we could have the option to tint or colour filter the snow tiles.  Using the shader code it should be possible to change just the material colour of the ground tiles to a more subdued tone and let this be player adjustable - like the UI windows have an adjustable translucent effect on only those parts of the game that fall behind them.

I'll bring this to the team. It's a really good idea. It's something that I think we can do fairly quickly, but let me discuss it as I'm not the best with the visuals.

  8. Oh, I'm also not against a disable option. I'm honestly just trying to think about what else we could show that still conveyed the season but wasn't so harsh on the eyes. I'm also curious on what about it makes everyone really dislike it so much, besides just the brightness.

Please, let me have the option to remove the white death. My eyes hurt.

Instead of remove, could we see some suggestions on how we could make it look better? I know there may have been some before, but I do feel that winter is one of the worst looks we have. I'd love it if people could enjoy it rather than seek to disable it.

  10. Player kingdoms on Defiance have been a hot issue for many of our PvP players for some time. We released a plan earlier this year, and due to the feedback received, we decided that the project needed to be thought through again. As a result, the project's timeline has changed. We have a number of things currently in development, and resourcing projects is a balance that is not easy to obtain with such a small team. You can look forward to more information regarding PMKs on Defiance in the coming weeks as we finalize our plans and begin working on them.

    Thank you, and happy Wurming!

  11. Hey all, we recently locked a thread and hid comments in our patch notes post for Easter. We did so intentionally as we feel the overall conduct in that thread does not represent Wurm as a whole. As patch notes are more newsworthy, keeping those posts on-topic and reserved for important information regarding the patch is essential.

Going forward, the patch notes will be posted in a read-only forum; a new forum section will be provided to discuss recent changes, which any registered user may post.  This keeps the patch notes clean and easy to browse and allows splitting different discussions into individual threads to avoid one particular topic in a set of changes overwhelming all the others.  Suggestions and Bugs will continue to go in their respective forum sections. We feel this change will make it easier for people to see important information related to patches, while also still giving people a place to comment.

We do not want to silence feedback, but as this is a public forum, we, as a community, should be aware of our image. Criticism is welcome, so long as it is civil and constructive. Please use the new forum and tell us what you liked or disliked about a change.

This thread is going to be locked, but feel free to post comments about this change in the new forum, once it opens.

Edit: The new forum has been created: https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/forum/488-patch-notes-discussion/

    Thank you,

    Keenan

  12. I think this thread has run its course at this point.

In the end, I will strive to do what is best for Wurm and its community. If you feel I have made an error, feel free to reach out.

this should prob just be a muted gallows post, nothing said here will change anything except stir the pot. The decision was made in the best interest of the community. I personally hate to see this for many reasons but nothing will change it.

I honestly intended to do just that, however I feel that folks should be able to express their opinions. Should that prove to be more hurtful than helpful then I will lock the thread.

So from this we can infer that when those players were banned, a gm (or more) were supposed to be banned with them? Slightly confused on the wording here.

I was perhaps a bit vague. I'm trying to not disclose too much information as to protect the players involved in that incident. We simply don't know how involved the former staff member was at the time, and that information is not available to us. That is why we opted for removal from the team rather than a ban. Past jokes of mine aside, I really do not like banning people without sufficient proof of wrongdoing. All we know is they were present.

  15. 7 minutes ago, Atndy said:

So withholding information and getting players banned and they just get removed from staff and not perma banned? Doesn't sound like much justice to me.

To clarify, the bans were justified. We felt that the removal from the team was punishment enough for this incident as well.

  16. I've made an official post. The only omission is the nature of the incident at hand and the name of our source, which has been left out to protect the people involved.

Feel free to DM me if you have other questions or concerns. Spreading half-truths through DMs will not allow the community to move forward.

  17. Hi all,

I’m aware of the stories circulating about the removals of Shydow, Shrimpiie, and SugarFoxx from the Wurm Team. While they all have nuggets of truth, they also miss the critical reason these individuals were removed from the team.

Shrimpiie and Shydow worked together to cover up a situation that involved Shydow’s significant other, SugarFoxx. Information was not only withheld, but these individuals participated in the active investigation while withholding information. In this case, players were punished while a staff member was shielded. That is inexcusable and a violation of our trust in the GM team.

As for personal vendettas, that is unlikely and speculative at best. Enki, Pomona, and I were informed about the covering up of evidence some time ago, but we needed proof. That proof came in December after a long period of discussion. The three of us then discussed the way forward with this information. In the end, removal was the only resolution given the broken trust. Trust not only within the GM team or the volunteer team as a whole but trust within the community.

To close, I wish them the best in their endeavors, both in and out of Wurm. Any retaliation or further discourse from this incident will be moderated accordingly. I wish to put this behind us and move on.

  18. Out of respect for those involved, I am going to continue to be silent on what transpired. I still consider this an open investigation, and I've reached out for more information.

I will say that I feel this was an unfortunate lapse in judgement that broke trust. A decision made because of a tricky personal situation.

I promise to make a more informative post once the investigation has concluded.

  19. Hello all!

I’m here with an update on what’s happening with Wurm Online!

First, we will be having a Black Friday sale again this year! Like last year, this sale will run from Wednesday through Sunday and will feature 25% off premium and silver prices, with 30% off one-year premium purchases. Don’t worry; we’ll get this information in the launcher soon.

Next, I’m pleased to announce that Exploration: Part II has a release date of December 13th! We will be opening up the Cartography part for playtesting this Friday, with other features becoming available for testing as they pass our internal tests. This date is a goal, but we will change it if needed to address issues that may arise from playtesting.

Finally, I have set a goal of having a better road map ready by January 2023. We have many suggestions from when the site was open, plus what has been made on the forum and what we already had in our pipeline. 2023 will be a year of new player retention, quality-of-life improvements, reworks, and bug fixing. We do have the desire to implement more significant features, but this work will be secondary to the goal of improving the current Wurm Online experience.

Thank you for your support, and I hope everyone stays safe out there!

    Happy Wurming!

  20. It’s always unfortunate when we have to remove a player, but these actions are taken to protect both the game and the community. What’s more, these people sometimes return anew, either looking for a second chance or seeking to return to their old ways. Regardless of the reason for their return, we will ban these players on sight unless the GM team has pardoned them.

Today we discovered a tangible link between the player Bloodreina and an account permanently banned 8 years ago for disruptive behavior. I want to stress that we did not act upon this person because of any recent comment they made on the forums. I welcome opinions of all kinds, even if I disagree with them. It’s how we learn and grow as individuals and how we can make Wurm Online even better.

I’m making this post to ensure that this community remains comfortable sharing their opinions respectfully and civilly. I have heard from many of you over the last year, some disagreeing with me, others with ideas and ways to improve the game. Having this open line of communication is essential, and I do not want a coincidence such as this to impede that in any way.

That said, I hope you all continue enjoying the Halloween event.

    Happy Wurming!

  21. I'm locking this thread.

The issues that were reported have been fixed. My apologies for the time it took to fix them, what is important is that they are fixed now and we will maintain higher scrutiny over changes that impact either shop in the future.

    Thank you.

How many times has this happened? Not really sure continual mistakes are more reassuring lol

My wording was intentional. This was brought to my attention when I first stepped up as Product Manager and I failed to take action at that time. That's on me.

I do not spend much time regretting mistakes that are made, instead I spend time solving them and doing what I can to prevent the same ones from repeating in the future.

I believe that our pricing now makes sense and that the typo in the Steam Shop has also been corrected as of today.
