  1. Yes, you could I am not sure how this is a bad thing though. Our current model of milking as much out of individual players as possible via them needing multiple subs isn't really encouraging more people to stay and spend anything. Most people would see what you just described as much more reasonable to do and would want to make a deed of thier own at some point, given enough time to take root in the game. A lot of the fun in this is in building and decorating and to do that you really need your own space. This would actually lead to more subs and deeds IMO than we have currently. Just because something is the way it is now doesn't mean it couldn't be better, and still be financially functional. I neither said not implied it would be easy, it wouldn't be. But just because something isn't easy doesn't mean it isn't worth doing or couldn't be accomplished. As a group we have people among us who have the knowledge and skills to spearhead something like this and make it happen, both within the community and among the current and former staff members. I disagree that relations will fix this since the leaving of so many staff members and current release of inside communications indicate this company and CEO have no desire to relate to anyone, accept feedback, or involve the community in the process.
  2. I would love to see many new cosmetics offered on the cash shop. Not only would this make money it would allow for much more variety and customization in people's charachters and deeds. Wurm cash shop should not have loot boxes, pay to win elements or items that function better. Any items should be cosmetic and fun in nature only giving no benefit. In the spirit of this I think they should also remove sleep powder and only give it when buying premium. I do not think any servers should be closed. In fact I think one of Wurm's biggest issues is and has been isolated and too lowly populated servers. I think we should figure out a way to make all server clusters connected and able to be travelled to by boat with the exception of Epic, whose servers remain accessible by portal only. This includes figuring out a way to unfracture the community and allow travel between the old and new clusters. It is foolish to split such a small community and turn what should be a single shared experience into essentially several separate games. We should consider removing the level 20 cap for non premium members, and make the game free to play to encourage new players to stay long enough (after completing a functional tutorial) to fall in love with the game and later want to make a deed. Owning a deed should be restricted to Premium players only, with free players being able to live at other people's villages. This IMO would go a long way towards increasing the population of the servers which now feel empty and lifeless. Living offdeed should be discouraged by highly accerating the rate at which any structures or objects offdeed decay, with the exception of items such as bridges and lights attached to a highway. I am sure that while some may play for free, many new and incoming players would want to create new deeds that could fill up a lot of the empty spaces and bring new life into the world. The sale of the cosmetics should also more than compensate the influx of non premium people, particularly if the playerbase became larger. As far as Wurm PVP I am for sure no expert but I do believe we need to stop ignoring this issue and agree that is it a problem we need to work on, and get progress going on doing so ASAP to increase game appeal. I believe both Chaos and Epic have value and need to be fixed to be assets to the game that will draw and hold players interest and particiption. I think it is important to the history of the game that both become saved and viable, and that objectively keeping both would offer us something no other MMO like this has; which is a choice in what type of PVP you want to do. Chaos could be marketed as the "Hardcore full loot PVP scene" with Epic, accssible via portal, being more "Casual funsies pvp" where your skills would follow you though the portal but you could safely have some fun there as items are not dropped or looted on death and cannot go through the portal in either direction. How to best improve pvp beyond that you'd have to ask the current PVP community to weigh in on. I agree with this. I think the gap between the two communities needs to be narrowed. I think WU should start recieving WO's updates, which should come later than they do to WO, and be a buyable DLC. I think that WO should look at and consider some popular mods from WU as being potential new content for the online community. IMO this is the direction we as a group should be thinking of going. I posted my thoughts about that and what it may take IMO in the poll asking if the game should be sold, as well as adressing what I think would be obstacles to doing it. The reality is that as long as this game is owned by anyone other than this community, we will always be at someone else's mercy. They will be able to run it into the ground, just shut it down, or make changes that absolutely nobody in the playerbase wants or agrees with. In the same token I think this is why we would not want any single player to own/run it either, even if they are one of us. The best outcome would be to have it become a fully community owned and ran game where we as a group can shape the game we love and keep it alive. I think even with it's age this game still has a certain charm that has kept it going for so many years already. And that with some hard work and updating a few things, it would have a lot to offer new players even today. Further, owning the IP could also allow us at some point to decide that it is time to consider work on an updated Wurm 2.0. But first we would need to save Wurm permantly instead of hoping for temporary and short term solutions, and then fix and market it so more people know it exists. Maybe the time has come for us to consider trying to make this the first community owned and ran MMO. If feels fitting to me that it should be such an old game that might lead the way towards breaking new ground in this way. We have already made history by being around for this long, do we want to let that all go to waste now as we stand around and watch the ship go down? Reality is even if it is not today, as long as WE the COMMUNITY do not own this game, someday it will end and we will have no way to stop it from happening.
  3. Not only might this be the only way to save the game at this point, if anyone could spearhead this idea it might be Sklo, who is running sucessful and financially viable alternative servers currently at WU that have never gone down or been wiped. He has clearly shown himself to be trustworthy and committed to the game and would be an excellent person to help organize us in such an action towards moving into a playerbase owned game IMO. We would need to create a highly respected group of people such as Sklo, BloodyDrogo, etc as well as current and former staff members whom among us have proven thier committment, understanding of the game, and have experience with such things as running Wurm servers, marketing and branding, management etc and take action if we want this to succeed. Joe is correct here. If this is going to happen it would have to be done in the right way and not haphazzardly. And it would take ALL of us as a community, from both WO and WU, to stand together from love of this game to see it realized. Could we do it? Yes, I believe we could, if we all worked together. This may be partially true. However, Wurm 2.0 would still not be Wurm, in the same way as WU is not WO. As someone who made the change there are times when I miss old locations and friends I left behind. Releasing a new version and not just updating the old one gives the probability of the things we loved about Wurm going away forever, which makes me sad to think about. There are also many people that are as tied to their deed locations as they are to the game itself, and loss of those locations may dislodge long term players and take away what they love about Wurm which would be bad. Not to mention that if you intend to launch Wurm 2.0 you would still need to own the IP anyway or you would not be able to create an updated version that is true to the game without legal issues. Without that, any newer version would have to be different enough it wouldn't even be Wurm 2.0 but a new thing entirely. Once the IP were owned, not only could Wurm be updated, but work on a new version could begin. I also believe the gap between the WU and WO communities could and should be narrowed, with WU recieving all of WO's updates a bit later than WO gets them, as DLC updates. Now, for the reality check. If it is indeed true as I have seen claimed that Wurm is the only product they have that is not failing, and this focus on trying to flog more income out of it is due to hoping it will financially save thier company, we are all in serious trouble. Not only does this indicate these folks are not good at running things and probably won't succeed with Wurm, it means as their sole current money maker they would have little incentive to sell it and will probably run it into the ground trying to milk it for funds. We would have to make it 100% clear that AS A UNITED GROUP, we have taken the "Our way or the highway" stance IMO. That GCG WILL sell to us, that we have no interest or intention of working with them or any other group that does not know or care about this game, and that we as a group will just go on strike as a community and walk out if they do not comply. We would have to be willing to provide them no income, perform no work, and log no WO playtime until they see that they can either sell to the community and get out, or own a nothingburger. I fear doing anything less would just cause them to disregard any offers and continue on their current path unless they see no other option than to dispose of us quickly due to making any other course of action impossible. If we could achieve that, then as a community owned game we may actually for the first time have a shot at saving this thing we love. If we cannot, seeing long term and key members of staff fired or quitting due to this company and CEO puts me in mind of a sinking ship. If something doesn't change, then the only people in charge will soon be those who know nothing about Wurm, and couldn't care less about it. Do we have the will as a group to draw the line in the sand this deeply? To not only invest our money to buy them out; but also commit to making the wheel on this bus squeak so loudly they would be forced to stop driving it? This I am not sure about, but I think that is what it would take to make it happen.
  4. Hey, we talked about horses at the impalong but you haven't been on in 41 days.  Can you message me or find me on the new servers?  Anelia on Melody.

Hey :) No not been on much at all since the impalong. If you want to get ahold of me discord is probably the best bet lately. Im Elizarya#2115 there :)

  5. I agree that the fight window is too large by far, and everything should be able to be transparent. I feel like I am literally fighting nothing but the menu now. Also not a fan of the bee message, and it is annoying even on Freedom. Can we please get the asked for toggle to remove the notice? Anyone who wants bees has probably made their own beehives long ago by now....
  6. I am downsizing my breeding program and stables and am listing here my overstock that I would like to rehome ASAP. All horses are pure 5 speeds with no extra traits. 8. or make it a giant collosus sized ? (no bag) worthy of wurm's longest standing joke structure made from something nice like slate and silver
  9. I agree totally! St Absy's cathedral looks like a dayglow eyesore with the bridges as they are and not matching the marble walls!! Please fix that and allow bridges to be dyed!! And even if i didn't agree, stanlee said i did [20:50:26] <Stanlee> I did it everyone post "this is the idea of the year" https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/174041-dye-able-bridges/
  10. I am a longtime resident or Release and live somewhat near Sloping Sands. I have seen many other starter towns being redone, but ours still looks like a desolate wasteland that is not inviting or welcoming in any way. I would be very enthusiastic about this project and would gladly donate time, materials, items and silver to a community improvement project for making this area nice. I also agree with Crimson that building a newbie friendly open access deed near to the town as it is now is difficult and impractical due to the huge perimeter and would love to have an open deed on the lake where new players could actually live, pickup and use items, smith things, and interact with the deed as opposed to buildings that are just there but aren't functional or visually appealing for them.
  11. I have horses available at J14 on Release, contact me in game if interested @ id Elizarya. usually on in the mornings and late nights
  12. If the reason they come unhitched is to make up for the fact that it isn't based on your skills, then yes it has everything to do with it.
  13. Many of us are still very unhappy with this change to hellhorses, even moreso now that they have made them more interesting to use since the new colors and gear appearances. 1.5 months isn't a huge length of time if you have several people living on a deed that all need constant replacement hellies for wagons and carts. This is especially true since replacement breeders have to be bred also, and often the babies seem to come in batches by sex, so it can sometimes take 2-3 breed cycles to even replace the breeding females because everything wants to come out male. Add in the time it takes for babies to arrive and the occasional failed bad breed and yeah, its a PITA. The end result is tearing your hair out breeding hellies nonstop, and god forbid you need to take a break for a week or two for real life. The fact that they have so many substages to aging that we as players cannot see is also a problem, because we have no clue when they are going to become unreliable and unhitch. I have asked several times about an examine feature so that we could at least tell when to expect this, similar to the pregnancy timer. Retro you stated you thought this would be a good idea, but there has been 0 further word on it happening. Nobody feels comfortable about gearing these hellies, because they can/will unhitch and run away with your gear, and since the idea of using them is better speed nobody wants to just use them ungeared. We have been given numerous reasons/stories as to why this was done. The latest you mentioned here is: So, unlike every other skill in the game, we have no benefit to raising taming and body control? Most people that use hellies are already capable of taming and riding them. Even those that aren't yet, I am sure, would be happier having it made much simpler and more reliable by requiring those skills to ride and hitch them, and having the horses remaining hitched and reliable to use until death like they were prior. At least that way it is something that you can work towards and have an ongoing benefit, as opposed to a penalty you can never overcome that will eventually bite you in the rear end. I used to love my hellies, but they are now such a pain to replace and use and are so unreliable that I killed all of my hellie breeders to spare myself the headache of losing more gear. These new updates don't excite me, they just make me sad and seem like a waste of time. Breaking something and then making it prettier doesn't make people want to resume using it.
  14. I see no value or purpose in this. I agree that the 1c fee is probably too low for full barrels, but think there should be a REASONABLE set fee per type of item (small barrel, etc). When the cost of mailing an item exceeds the value of the item altogether, mailing it becomes no longer a viable option; and nobody wants to sail around delivering anything they don't have to. Making changes to this game that make trade and/or travel more difficult only make the economy and community weaker. My biggest objection to this is how it will impact the players that have set themselves up with dairies; in particular with the types of players that seem to be doing it. Wurm is cool in that many, if not most, of it's more useful skills are difficult to grind and slow in coming. This means longer term players generally have several options they can pursue to make a bit of coin here and there. This is not true of newbies, who have limited options on ways to make money. Selling milk is one of the few things that a newbie can do to produce a product of usable ql that has any appeal to an established player. We need to take that away from them why? We already lose a large number of new players to the game because they cant generate any income in the game. I would prefer keeping those people around, and with preferably with a bit of coin to spend, so that the community and economy overall are stronger. After all, the long term players also struggle to find customers that need their products and have the silver to be able to buy them. Please leave the newbies and their cow farms alone.
