  1. Lootboxes can be predatory but is it really like that if all skins have an equal chance to drop and almost all of them are pretty good? Usually, lootboxes prey on players by making something very good and having it drop with very low chance. That way, people keep buying lots of lootboxes getting thousands of the same trash they don't need. If we had random boxes for the few skins we have so far, you could easily sell the ones you don't want as long as every skin had the same chance to drop. If unwanted skins had a high chance and desirable ones had a low chance, then it would be predatory and I wouldn't want the item to be added if it was going to be so. That's not what I am asking. Every skin equal chance. Skins categorized to different boxes so less chance to get what you don't want. Boxes expensive so it doesn't ruin the value of the skins since you get them with few attempts. I gave 7k as just an example, it can be much higher than that.
  2. That's a very good point. I wonder how many wurm players would be okay with seeing Neko Neko Helmets and Teletubby Armors wherever they go. The horses will look like My Little Pony with skinned bardings and you'll be PvP'ing with plastic adult toys before you know it. That kind of circus is inevitable if more and more modern colourful equipment skins get added while less and less historical skins get added.
  3. The first picture looks pretty darn good while the second looks ok. Just kidding, the second one looks great. The first one looks ancient chinese (not the metal but the design) and the second one looks like it belongs to a vampire high elf.
  4. It is not gambling if you always win They could seperate them to weapon, armor, decoration etc. Then it could be less ''gambly'' and more ''I need all of these anyways''. When I was doing the Jackal ones, I was selling the ones I don't want.
  5. Random Skin Box!!! It is similar to buying random jackal skin from the marks shop. You buy the random skin box and when you open it, it gives you one of the existing custom skins in the game. 7000 Marks (or higher). It could be called the Mystery Box or any other fitting name.
  6. I like to sell my caskets and I'd like them to be more valuable Please add more goodies into them. It is too much of a hassle to do them. I appreciate the people who actually do them and buy the caskets. Add a small chance for everything into them and I mean EVERYTHING. Even randomly enchanted and imped stuff should be in there. Higher value should be rarer and lower value should be more common with the difficulty playing a role. This game needs more surprises and less predictability.
  7. This game needs African Lion urgently. Mountain Lion is a big kitty and I've killed enough of them in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion already.
  8. +1 If you had a summary of all kinds of things that would matter to you in the game, including upkeep when you logged in as an event window message, I think that would be great. If it is going to put any load on the game, I don't want it but I doubt it would. The suggestion doesn't have to be implemented word for word. It is almost never the case. Nobody complains only %75 of their suggestion made it into the game. I think it is a great concept and it is very simple. If it is easy to implement and doesn't put any significant load on the host or the player client, then there are no downsides to it.
  9. I'll accept that if they start adding cannons but we don't even have crossbows. Cannons please? Seriously, give me cannons now. I need it... A significant number of people don't want this kind of skin in the game in any way shape or form. I don't think it breaks immersion because the wealthy elite class wore all kinds of silly hats throughout history all around the world. It is also a fantasy game so it doesn't have to be historically accurate. People will be mildly content as long as it doesn't turn into a s*** show. So far, I don't think any skins were that bad, including this one, in terms of ruining the game's aesthetics. I personally don't care for the skin but I am disturbed by it being the main monthly skin to look forward to. You get a 30 minute downtime message saying there is a new monthly skin and you get all excited. Then you look at the forums to find a picture of it and it is crushing disappointment. The disappointment mainly comes from most of the earlier skins being very high quality and extremely impressive. Expectations are high and that's why a bottom tier skin coming out as monthly skin causes disappointment and discontent. You go from skins like Harrowing Halberd, Sol Shield, Raider Axe, Bulwark Shield, Lomanian Cavalry Maul, Prodigious Longbow to Forage Node Cap. I think there'd be a lot less people complaining if that skin was added on the side without anyone having a reason to pay attention to it. It is also pretty bad timing for it to be released at the same time as Candy Cane rerun in the silver shop. We don't have a Gladius skin for the Shortsword but Candy Cane as early as 4 years ago? That's not fair to the shortsword. It has horrible damage but that's not its fault. It deserves to be loved. I don't dislike the Candy Cane, I'm glad it is in the game but I'd much rather have Gladius or some other cool Shortsword skin before Candy Cane becomes available.
  10. -1 this is not house entrance simulator
  11. I wonder if that means a new server or the merge is on the horizon.
  12. If those existed in Wurm's better days, there would be more player retention. Wurm started to die after Wurm Unlimited got released and has been slowly dying ever since with a little bump here and there with new cluster and such. It is not fair to make comparisons between now and its peak. All those things you listed are net positives and wouldn't have turned away any player who decided to stick around back then if they were available at that time. Let's be honest about this. Wurm is only difficult for a very short time in the beginning and then becomes super easy. Vets have it easy, new players have it hard. A lot of new players quit because of confusion and lack of direction. Wurm is an extremely easy game for an experienced player and simply drowning the new players in confusion, lack of direction and lack of basic utility won't make the game any harder than it is for anyone else but for the person who just logged in for the first time. That doesn't make the game harder for the great majority of the playerbase and doesn't make it any harder for you , unless you are able to reset your memory and start playing the game from your first day over and over again. This suggestion only works when it is a slow vehicle that you can just run up to and hop on from anywhere. It is worse than afk driving on your hunt/travel wagon, worse than your boat at slow wind speed, worse than one milisecond teleport from one edge of the server to the other. It doesn't make the game any easier than it already is. It provides a new utility that is not already there, but new utility doesn't equal to easier game. It just means more options. I've already mentioned how it would enrich the new player experience and also the social interaction in this game. So far, disagreements to it have been from a point of strawmanning the suggestion and this leads me to believe that this utility would be a net positive to the game.
  13. I'm hoping for the mama bird to bring one of the oldest skins to the monthly nest while the baby birds in this month's monthly skin are chirping. If you are going to run candy crush, you could also rerun one of the oldest skins for a marks points rush. Otherwise, the marks shop is going to be all hush. For this month's skin, someone needs a spanking on the tush.
  14. I had to check the monthly skin post to understand what this meant.... yup It is horrible If you run out of ideas or couldn't design a new skin, just rerun one of the old ones.
  15. If sharpening was to be permanent, like placing a rune, a permanent effect with an upside and downside, that's a whole different story. I understand that's not what OP is suggesting.
  16. One skill has to be responsible for it. If not stonecutting, then perhaps bladesmithing or another skill that makes sense. I'd want stonecutting because the skill is not any easier to lvl than others, doesn't produce anything profitable while leveling like others do, have very limited use. However, I wouldn't be in any way disappointed if it used weaponsmithing skill. It is 5 times harder to lvl than others and deserves more utility. So yeah, weaponsmithing should be used for it.
  17. +1 love it It should use stonecutting skill to successfully sharpen.
  18. Developer implementation goes to a lot of things and usually not into player retention. PvP also hasn't been getting a lot of attention but that's not new and the reason certainly hasn't been new player focused development. PvP is not going to be the main focus with or without player retention being one of the priorities. New roadmap gives signals that new player experience and player retention is going to be one of the priorities. That's why I think these kinds of suggestions have a chance of being implemented. PvE is the main artery of Wurm Online and it still needs to be improved. This suggestion has nothing to do with teleportation or any other form of instant relocation. So, the existence of priest summon doesn't make up for its absence. This suggestion is about the journey, not the destination.
  19. First of all, a new player doesn't have access to 100 summoner priests from the start to zap around the server. He could meet 1 or 2 within his first month or two coincidentally. It is not about summoning priests, or being teleported to a specific location, but about having a tour of the game and see what it has to offer, what people are doing etc. The newbies are going to get 3 free tickets which can't be dropped or traded as I've mentioned above. Once again, it is not about getting them to an event. It is not about getting to a specific deed either. If the newbie joined a village, he already gets 1 free teleport. So it is not about that. It is all about having an automated form of transportation which will benefit newbies the most, giving them a free tour. Since there will be more than 1 passenger seat on the automated large cart, there will also be more than 1 person as a passenger. This can lead to interesting conversations and meeting new people. There are a lot of benefits to it. I don't think the existence of summoning priests that teleport you to a specific location with point blank accuracy is a good arguement against it. I am not arguing for removing priest summon either, I haven't said anything about it on this topic. They are not mutually exclusive. They barely have anything in common.
  20. They'd not go too far from the target you threw the knives at so you could still get them easily if there was an autopick feature.
