  1. How is Wurm?

Dude, there is a point where grind becomes too much. I played Runescape for years (and probably will come back to it if I get in the mood) and grind in this game is quite big. The difference is that even at lower skill levels you can earn some reasonable cash or actually fight mobs, so it makes it bearable and even fun. Majority of players do not want to play a game where it takes YEARS to max a single skill or where you have to run to guards every time something larger than a wild cat comes near you. You have to depend on charity of older players to get anywhere unless you enjoy grinding all essential skills for months to be able to set up a house and be able to defend it. You may say it's okay because MMOs are social games, but there should limit of dependence of new players on older players' mood.
  2. You know, economy could be improved a bit if game had a lot new players coming from time to time, but there is no way to keep them here.
  3. Good post, Vetarnic. Would remove buying premium for silver. Probably that's main reason why newbies even try to grind for coin in first place. Rolf... All you had to do was to listen to Notch a bit, maybe then you wouldn't end up with grindfest full of elitists.
  4. Ayes has a point. Wurm Unlimited is just way more appealing than grindy, flawed Wurm Online. WU has faster skilling, faster resource gathering, denser population(so servers don't seem so dead) and lower costs of playing. By changing WO's economy either you piss off the vets and they will leave with all their silver or newbies will stop coming because of it's awful grind compared to WU.
  5. In my opinion it would improve market for the new players. Less players willing to dig up 10 000 pieces of dirt = higher prices Non-Premium players would go travel around the servers instead of slaving away days to get these 10 silvers. There is thing with mailing. I think that if mailing became more expensive than now, it would give an opportunity for new players to work as couriers, they could have use out of these rowboats.
  6. Didn't read the whole topic yet, but I want to ask a question: What would happen if we removed the possibility to buy premium with in-game silver?
  7. I know that tool's quality stops at 20 for non-premium players (tested it myself), but how it goes for weapons? Does it stop at 20 or higher quality is used as well?
  8. I gave up because: 1. Couldn't start boy's quest 2. I'm sure most of treasure was found, couldn't participate at start because of lag And now I learned that I had to keep an apple sprout I thought is a little Easter egg or something unimportant stuff. Nah, I have silvers to earn. Though place looked good, though without high quality torches you're just blind.
  9. It's auction for Rare Large Cedarwood Cart, 11ql. Pickup at Freedom Market (just north from The Howl) on Independence Server. I do prefer to have all bids posted here. Starting bid: 9s Bid increment: 1s Buyout: 14s
  10. Maybe he liked that game, but it got screwed even further? Did you consider this? Maybe he still hopes that this game will get better. Normally person would stop playing good game that wasn't just in their taste. There we got example of person who got promise of good fun changing world (and in his taste!) but instead got grind and game mechanics forcing to buy a deed. Then Rolf f***ed it up even more, who wouldn't be angry?
  11. 6 hours? Did you include mining, cutting rock shards (with fail chance), digging clay, chopping wood, making planks (with fail chance) and whole building proccess(with fail chance)? I was making large cart and fail rate of adding planks and nails despite starting with 5 fine carpentry was a bit frustrating. I won't pay for deed because it's impossible to live normally without it. Game is trying to force me to buy it. Newbies want to try it out, see if it is worth paying and what they're meeting? "BUY DEED, ONLY THEN YOU WILL BE SAFE!", "BUILD LOW QL GUARD TOWERS, THEY WILL DEFEND YOU BECAUSE YOU CAN NOTHING" I mentioned mortar, because players actually can agree to do that boring stuff, yet okder players praise it because stuff need time to make it. Sure, running would be viable method if monsters weren't everywhere! On Deli is a tunnel near Puzzle Plaza Market, every time when I went to second end of this tunnel I was seeing corpse piles of monsters killed by guards. This of course may make you think that guards are very useful. No, guards are NECESSITY, even for hermit, because amount of monsters roaming around is ridiculous while on Deli I seen a only two non-aggressive wild animals : pheasant and pig. I killed one wild cat and three large rats, every time hurting me to less than half of my health, even pig on Xanadu hurted me hardly even when I was a bit experienced in fighting. http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/104698-creature-aggression-and-speed/ But newbies die a lot. I didn't say about all veterans, but on forums were few people who complained about strong trolls. You didn't say why they couldn't just run away. Maybe it isn't game for me. True, making own stuff and building is enjoyable, but Wurm is one of most grindiest game ever. Newbies die often and after quitting they will remember grinding and dying while experienced players have nothing worthy to kill and built everything. "Mobs were worse in my days. Be grateful you can kill that pheasant with loss of only half your health!" Yep, I'm sooooo happy! Thanks Rolf!
  12. Nevermind, I just forgot that I made boat lock and didn't notice additional key.
