  1. I use Far Manager (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_Manager) for working with jars, it opens jar simply by pressing Enter and can copy single files without zipping/unzipping the entire archive. And Far Manager is free.
  2. I am not a big fan of deserts too, and this map is not intended to be aesthetically pleasing I made this map as a survival challenge. In standard WO and WU map, and in player-made maps, water and dirt can be easily found. And if there is no dirt nearby, players can easily create it by dropping dirt on the ground. But can we create an extremely hard PvE map, where player will have no water at the ore veins, and no ore veins close to water? What if people could not create new dirt tiles for farming, and the whole map have only several hundreds of trees? This map is a proof of the concept of severe environment: clay desert that cannot be converted into grass, water can be found only in two lakes at south east, not a stick of timber except 600 trees at the lakes, and no grass tiles except trees and bushes. And speaking about ores, three mountains are full of gold, silver, copper, zinc, tin and lead, but other parts of the map have only iron ore veins, marble an slate. No possibility to sail on this map, but wagons would be a great help for transporting water and fuel to mines. I thought about montane map with deep canyons, but made it desert for simplicity (USGS data for Monument Valley was a source of height map).
  3. As far as I can see, getFogColor uses sky images from graphics.jar but not terrain textures. You'd check whether you installed the textures correctly. Are skycolor.png, skycolor2.png, skycolor3.png,files in graphics.jar top-level directory?
  4. I could accept it when we will have more tropical/subtropical flora. Palm trees, cactuses, bamboo and so on
  5. More screenshots here: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/134287-dry-valley-1024x1024-inland-survival-map-concept/
  6. Could we have a playable inland map in WU? This is my first experiment with landlocked country surrounded by impassable tar mountains. All ore veins except iron are regional. Water, dirt and wood are regional too. Most part of the map is clay field with sandy "dry creeks" and large tar pits. Link for download (map files in zip archive, 1.8 Mb): http://blog.postcardgallery.net/i/wurm/dv-map-1024.zip Note: Red Rock Country textures were used for screenshots (http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/134269-released-red-rock-country-environmental-textures/) Screenshots: Topographic dump
  7. Red-colored version of original WU textures (partial textures are shown on the sample image): Link for download (zip archive, 3.2 Mb): http://blog.postcardgallery.net/i/wurm/desert_graphics.zip Installation: find the graphics.jar, make a backup copy, rename graphics.jar to graphics.zip, unzip it, find the right folder for terrain, replace the images with files from the downloaded archive, compress to .zip, rename back to .jar extension. Fall and winter textures of the pack are identical to summer textures, thus there will be no snow during winter. In-game screenshots: Clay desert, foot of the mountain is sand, top is cliff. Mountains on the background are made of tar
  8. There are two config files, WurmLauncher\LaunchConfig.ini and WurmServerLauncher\LaunchConfig.ini. Which of them you changed?
  9. Check external IP address of the Wurm server on your laptop. I had similar problem because my laptop has VirtualBox Host-only Ethernet adapter installed (which is a virtual network adapter for VirtualBox), and Wurm server launcher silently set IP address for virtual network instead of IP for real LAN. To solve this problem, I had to disable the VirtualBox Network connection in the Windows control panel, and manually set IP address in Wurm server launcher.
  10. Link for download of 1024x1024 map files was added to the starting post.
  11. "A little brother and sister were once playing by a well, and while they were thus playing, they both fell in. A water-nix lived down below, who said, "Now I have got you, now you shall work hard for me!" and carried them off with her. She gave the girl dirty tangled flax to spin, and she had to fetch water in a bucket with a hole in it, and the boy had to hew down a tree with a blunt axe, and they got nothing to eat but dumplings as hard as stones. Then at last the children became so impatient, that they waited until one Sunday, when the nix was at church, and ran away. But when church was over, the nix saw that the birds were flown, and followed them with great strides. The children saw her from afar, and the girl threw a brush behind her which formed an immense hill of bristles, with thousands and thousands of spikes, over which the nix was forced to scramble with great difficulty; at last, however, she got over. When the children saw this, the boy threw behind him a comb which made a great hill of combs with a thousand times a thousand teeth, but the nix managed to keep herself steady on them, and at last crossed over that. Then the girl threw behind her a looking-glass which formed a hill of mirrors, and was so slippery that it was impossible for the nix to cross it. Then she thought, "I will go home quickly and fetch my axe, and cut the hill of glass in half." Long before she returned, however, and had hewn through the glass, the children had escaped to a great distance, and the water-nix was obliged to betake herself to her well again." 12. Try to clean up insertwurmzones.sql and insertwurmitems.sql files before running rebuild-dbs.bat: 1. Backup the whole sqlite directory (just in case something will go wrong). 2. Open insertwurmzones.sql in a text editor and delete all lines starting with "INSERT INTO FOCUSZONES". Save as text (not word document etc.), but be sure it has insertwurmzones.sql name after saving. 3. Open insertwurmitems.sql in a text editor, delete everything and paste the following: BEGIN TRANSACTION; /* No items inserted on install. */ COMMIT; Save as text (not word document etc.), but be sure it has insertwurmitems.sql name after saving. 4. Open insertwurmcreatures.sql to be sure it has no line beginning with "INSERT INTO". 5. Run rebuild-dbs.bat. 6. Check in Sqlite browser whether tables CREATURES, ITEMS and ZONES are empty. P.S. I have not tested the resulting database in-game, but this prevents rebuild-dbs.bat from loading built-in zones and items designed for Creative map.
  13. Such possibility already exists on PvE servers, see http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Dueling
