  1. I'm dancing around terminology that some would call 'dev-bashing', but in my reality, are called management principles and effective language. change management..
  2. There's no abuse, or any real thought process beyond: The Game is the Game is the Game is the Game. There's a long line of posts like this, warnings or patches, and otherwise very short-sighted and non-beneficial changes that affect bottom line negatively. I honestly believe decisions are made by gamers first, and nothing more. Really thinking about it, the costs involved in taking the time to 'discuss' something of which offers absolutely no business value and then proceed to further increase the vitriolic attitudes of your customer base is very foolish and amateurish. Almost always in the real world, things of this nature go through a filter. Until these attitudes change, and things like this stop happening, I'd expect the negative counts of everything to continue. There's a lot more to this, with it both simple and complex, but i actually get paid to do this. So good luck. <3 wurm.
  3. Cool. Shaz's Score: Client Feedback: Negative PR Effectiveness : N/A Alternative value-added content : None Business value : None
  4. You seem to think that the subscription is the main problem for lack of growth. Herein is your extremely naive and incorrect assumption. You also seem to be completely devoid of any business knowledge or sense, and offer little of value beyond "F2P experiements PLZ!!!". Then again, 99% of these threads in this forum are absolute garbage. Sorry, but this is no exception.
  5. Subscription rates are a minor issue. Don't think so one-dimensional. Wurm can be as complex as you make it. It's a wholly niche game for sure, but doesn't have to be driven into a dark corner where subscriptions and cash flows stagnate. I've mentioned it before, but wurm is in it's decline phase (lifecycle) and without clear understanding and determination of why, it will only exasperate the issue at hand. A UI overhaul will completely fail to draw unless fundamental changes are made. Otherwise, obsolescence continues despite the good ideas thrown forward. WU was a giant failure long-term, and ill thought out. If it was just a simple cash out, then it was greatly successful depending who you ask.
  6. What the hell do you all expect to get out of this? This thread is a huge LOL. If you do not understand why certain questions wont get answers (or terrible ones), you have no conceptual knowledge of what this business needs, how it needs it, and the resources to do it. Resources being a -very- subjective word here. Turbo-nerd screeching about something, or even a logical non-emotional and well constructed post will always get the same answer. Let it die already.
  7. I've been working long and hard on my personal goals, and they were actually achievable. It was the main reason for me playing to be honest. After this fix, they are no longer achievable (realistically) and all that work I've put into getting them is lost. So thanks, and i really mean it.
  8. Right now the food larder is just a food trash bin. Asking about new feature mechanics, how they work, and anything relative to 'test' it to see if it works is like banging your head into a wall. A wall with rusted blunt nails pointing at you. "Let's wait and see" staff comments about features becomes "Let's wait and see how badly implemented this was!"
  9. This doesn't mean anything. If at all, you are not the average gamer. Doing math problems for years on a calculator does not qualify you to be a mathematician. Your points are extremely emotional and really no purpose as such. Try using logic and professionalism to ask questions and 'why's. You'll know you're on the right path when no one is able to answer them. Hell, I even agree with you on your main point. If you're expecting Wurm to change from 'basement productions' to a professional business model able to innovate some sort of rebirth, you're sorely mistaken. It's not a knock, but the cold hard reality of how things work around here. There's no ownership or drive, and we all have to deal with it. For example, I've tried to get and keep about a dozen people playing this game over the last few years. Imagine what their #1 reason for quitting is? Hint: It's not the UI.
  10. The entire point of this thread is to trash, destroy and otherwise put into perspective how worthless this idea is, not only to players, but even from a business perspective. You literally, offer nothing of value. Admitting this would be a negative QoL change and still asking for it, is neurotic. If it's not deeded, it's not yours. Corpses rot in a few days. If your life consists of 'annoyance' at a few corpses lying around a large unclaimed swath, then you should reconsider some things. This entire forum is LoL with terribly self-serving and otherwise insane suggestions.
  11. There's this antiquated thought process that involves decay and grind as some sort of progression tool to keep people subscribing. The reality is there's always too much to do in wurm, and making things more out of the reach of average-casual-joe is a tactical and strategic fail. Most people quit wurm because it's too grindy, and no one bothers to rectify it with small but endless QOL changes.
  12. Resources, Vision-less, Volunteerism, Attitudes. etc. etc. Wurm has never, and will never, be run like a real business. Success may be relative, but in this case it's just some niche basement project that never sees the light of day. It could, but it wont. I love it, but it is what it is.
  13. Every single feature patch is released without any systematic testing, and server restarts have caused a lot of issues over the years. What do you expect?
  14. Based on the last response, if you can honestly say you are doing exactly the same as prior to updates, and seeing a difference in yield, then something is possibly different on Xanadu, and worth investigating. So i have a few questions; 1. Has this ever been tested? (see: automated) 2. Is there even such a system to test?
  15. The new update is a turnoff for new players, but good for old established and experienced ones. Could have been both. A new UI wont bring on some sort of revival, because it doesn't address Wurms core cultural problems.
  16. It's hard to say more than A, when B hasn't likely been discussed or mentioned. Back on point, Greyfox has more great points to make I'm sure.
  17. Here you go: Ticket : Validate crop growth time Priority : Medium Steps to reproduce : Lol, im not doing everything for you Expected Result : Crop growth timer is consistent and not hindered by server resets or other functionality.
  18. Settle down comic-book-guy. You could always take your own advice though, and remove chat, forums and any human interaction from your life. I'm pretty certain everyone here wouldn't notice. Let me rephrase for you :
  19. Being BL, there was just as much infighting at times as going after JK. A lot of turbonerd ego's to contend with, and it never changed regardless of kingdom. I do remember the penalty to JK, which was the largest barrier to infighting among them. Too bad it wasn't introduced sooner, could have lead to more HoTS success. I think i was a lib priest with one of my characters about 3-4 times? Been so long now i cannot remember. Full loot PVP brings out the dredges of society, and most games of this genre are miserable failures in this endeavor, Wurm included. The beginning of the end for Lib was the introduction of player gods. It's such a garbage system, and only now are people complaining a little about the ridiculousness of it all.
  20. I've said it a million times, Balance is a function of business requirements and value. It seems a daft argument to this crowd. A lot of decisions are based on this micro-level understanding of 'gameplay' and how it relates to balance without having any real strategic thought. The whack-a-mole sums it up, but would work if someone actually had the audacity and strength to think beyond band-aid fixes that come to the attention of dev's from self-interested gamers.
  21. It's my inherent mindset to question it, especially when i do really like the game and have been around since 2004. More so as it has to do with my professional life. Part of the issues is the lack of accountability over the years, which is always the result of volunteerism. It's a real shame, as some issues are just unwinnable without real strategic direction and vision, not to mention resources. Wurm is in a bad spot, stagnating and on its decline. This is where an intrapreneurial mindset shines. With Rolf's departure, there's a large window of opportunity here. back on topic, I think the communication is just visible now. Gives a lot of insight into how decisions are made, and whether or not delivery is successful.
  22. It's part of the job. Is communication better? debatable, but better to ask this instead: Is Wurm still inherently unprofessional in the way it conducts business? yes.
  23. You all seem to have absolutely no grasp of business.
