  1. The people who say they cant afford to pay it for whatever reason, you cant use that arguement. You cannot tell me just because you cant afford it, that we somehow have to make sure you feel the most comfortable and that the technicalities should justify treating premiums as well as non-premiums. Especially when a lot of the non-premiums are people who will never pay for premium anyways. You play a free account with strings attached, you'll have to deal with the consequences. Can't afford it? Well, welcome to life. Shadow Mage, sorry, but you need to realize that it's YOUR life, and you have choices. Until you pay for the game, you have to deal with the strings. Keep in mind your a rarity, most people wont even consider paying for the game, and only complain when something small comes their way and they are forced to choose to pay or deal with the strings. A lot of moronic kids have this new found sense of "entitlement" when it comes to online games.
  2. Ahaha

Again, your not being forced. You have a ....-Choice-..... You could get your members who've been using this trial up until this point to caugh up a measly amount of money to stay, or you can return with them to the home server. Either way, your able to play. The prems can do what they want, the non-prems have to still remember it's an "unlimited trial", strings attached. Obviously your the only one on this forum, the only one vocal, that has a problem with this. You'd think to look at this objectively when everyone in this thread minus some of your townies are flaming you.
  3. Xemos, fair enough. I guess i have to give the input, that despite some hard coded limitations, people would still manage and find ways around it. These very people are the source of Wurm's development and community problems, one of them has been perma-banned and i hope and would assume others are going follow, with this new no-tolerance policy. I guess what i'm saying is, you need to take extreme and drastic measures to remove the crappy component out of the game, the player. As a secondary note, i do believe Rolf is using this to promote more premium playability, and possibly in preparation for new home servers (Mol Rehan for one) and marketing.
  4. You know, since developing a complex login system and authentication system just so non-paying players can continue to enjoy the game on a server that was never designed for them (rolf's words, not mine). ...makes sense to me? I'm not trying to flame you, you at least tried to find a solution, but this is beyond overboard.
  5. In defense

Emerald, if we had the old forums, i could pull up a bunch of stuff that would make people both laugh and cry. Not only abusing the system whole, but asking for ice-cream ontop of it. One of the best ones was literally not a joke, Gavin and a few others had actually asked for Mycelium to be able to heal them. That's just one of many that boggle the mind. Generational gap perhaps? The kids with this new sense of permanent 'entitlement'. That' or it's just egomaniacal poosockery, in a small production game.
  6. Yep. Pass over some of that whine, i'm thirsty, despite it only being noon. Sunn, we should probably leave. the more people come in here, the quicker it turns into a degenerate trog-fest that losses any cohesion. Not like it had much to begin with. I guess we outta go "solidify our power" somewhere else. Bad us! Bad, we have firsthand experience, BAD BAD BAD!
  7. What bothers me is when people choose a time and a place to become vocal about an issue. This has been going on for over a year, ever since this map started. Even attributing the rules, people still readily abused it, pandered for changes after exploiting a skill, so on and so forth. You just 'now' come out of the woodwork because it directly affects you at this point in time? This wouldn't have been a problem if the Wurm community had somehow dropped it's greedy individualism and cooperated into getting something changed. PS..Sunn, all you'll get is people wanting 10x more GM's and Rolf to spend time coding things in that people will bypass anyways. It's a real dissapointment.
  8. Elias, that's what we've been saying all along. This issue however is different. We've been advocating change that is wurm-centric for a long time. There is a group of people(s) that advocate change only for their well being, and one of those vocal ones has been permabanned. I hope Rolf has learned his lesson to be more on the fence of issues, and ignore these egomaniac lobbyists looking to solidify themselves. This issue is different though, longterm it's the best solution. This wont prevent New-Blood from coming into wurm, if anything, it provides a new avenue for people to pay to enjoy the full benefits wurm has to offer. Nobody new is going to know otherwise or even care that they cant play on wild. I remember at the end of Beta, there was a huge outcry from some people about wurm going Gold and how they didn't feel Wurm was worth paying for. They bitched, complained and yelled non-stop despite others claiming Rolf couldn't keep the game going without funding. What happened? They shut up when G1 launched, a few of them left but most ended up paying anyways. Wurm today is a lot larger because of that decision, and the funding has allowed greater development.
  9. I had posted above the sales pitch you use for wurm. Your not arguing for people who have never played wurm before. Your essentially saying that non-prems cant play, it's too horrible, and they'll never join. Last i checked, this is a minor blip in playability for the majority of non-prems, and i'm sure future freebs would not give a rats ass about whether or not they can play on wild. Playing the game and experiencing it in it's basic form is what people want, then they pay and get all the available features.
  10. I can agree, that communities such as SA and FP can provide a large pool of players, but what differs is how things are pitched. I think what we were getting at, is this "sting" to non-prems on wild is a neccessary evil, because its' the only way that allows rolf to continue developing the real game, instead of worrying about players being morons. It's a transition phase.
  11. If you pay for it, then you should realize that it's a fine line, especially if your on wild. You clearly admit to bringing in large numbers of non-premiums who have no intention to pay, and cant/wont do so. You think Rolf enjoys to hear that? He expects basics to pay after some time, not for someone to invite more and more permanent non-payees. I'm honestly sorry that you dropped a gold plus upkeep on a village of non-prems, but the system was never designed for Wild to sustain large numbers of non-prems. This arguement is going from "why wont you pay?" to "we never were going to pay" and now "well, tough luck, sorry about your prems"
  12. If you posted "Hey, here's a game to try out. You start off in a pvp-less server, but can do everything you want up to a certain skill. If you pay, you can have access to a new server with pvp and higher skill caps". Easier, i'd think. Dont go on about how "they cant play" anymore. Scribbles, this huge injustice as you call it, seems to be only affecting your town. I ask again, none of you can scrounge up 7 dollars a month to help pay your basics to play on a server that was made for higher skill sets? You all seem to avoid that question.
  13. People are not decent, this is what i'm getting at. A lot of gamers in pvp situations are immature, moronic and use every opportunity to get ahead. If you play wurm 16 hours a day, it generally shows a serious problem with your real life, and they'll sieze the opportunity to exact 'revenge' and do whatever they can behind a monitor. This isn't something new. Rolf sees the overall health of the server from a business perspective. If i were boss, and saw a few prems would quit because their non-prems had to go back to home (a server no less that has the same thing you claim they want...minus pvp...), i wouldn't care. Most of my customers want this change, it's harsh, but can be effective. If you can't afford to pay for this game, or whatnot, i'm sorry. You just can't expect to have rights when you know your playing for free indefinately. Now, normally i'd stop here, but you just defended 3 people who were caught not only once, but MANY MANY MANY times abusing the system. You really dont understand do you? Rules are ALWAYS circumvented, ALWAYS. That's why having a blunt golden rule makes sense, and for every game it applies. Acceptable? are you blind? You might as well be on the home server, because you have no idea about the rules, regulations and history (past/present) on the Wild server. FYI. anyone reading this filth, it's one group starting multiple posts about basics.
  14. Not quite. I can rearrange that to say "is done by the people that want wurm to succeed on the wild server". 90%? that's a large number. If you want to be a part of a game, you generally read the forums, and if your part of a town (on wild, you are) then you'd find out pretty quick. Again, what's so hard about paying? It's really a simple solution, and on wild it's smart.
  15. Rolf doesn't have a choice, and that's something you cant seem to grasp. You think it's smart to spend a ton of time hardcoding fixes for the server for alt-abuse (which is an impossible task for him), and have GM's police more? It's obvious it doesnt' work. Not to mention the paying customers on wild want this, as it might hurt a few non-payees, but it's a smart decision overall to increase the health of said server. Why wont your basics pay? It's a simple solution. You know when you want to pay for a game, hell, you get 14 days to try most MMO's out, and you always know..because you dont have a choice. I guess if your going to call us all "25 hardcores", then i can call your friends the "same 100 basics who never pay".
  16. Kalinum, what you dont seem to understand is those that complain the loudest who are basics, have played some time, and have a lot invested. It's obvious they like the game, play it a lot, and have "tested" it for quite some time. You'd think common sense would intervene and maybe say to yourself "ok, maybe it's time to pay"..but nope! They want Rolf to spend his money hardcoding, and having GM's police (which is beyond their abilities, despite how hard they work), does that make -any- sense?
  17. Seems mostly all the paying customers are agreeing and happy with Rolf, and all those with ties to the hordes of basic players on wild do not. Hrm...guess that's catastrophic! I posted this in another thread, and it goes for those who keep basics for well past "i would like to pay for this game". If you want to stay on wild, pay. You obviously like it, if your so mad about leaving and have so much invested..why not buy prem? "This is a business, not the YMCA."
  18. What Zeno said, sums up a long winded post by myself. More importantly, you want Rolf to hard code something to take months, and manpower to police so a bunch of non-paying players can live freely? This is a business, not the YMCA. Rolf is catering to his paying customers. End Story.
  19. Faceshot? where the hell did that come from? lol.
  20. The Dev's HAVE seen this, plenty of times. The GM's especially know. Atom, Zeno and I along with some townies left the wild server because of it. Then you all scream about things that seem "new" to you, that have been going on about a year. As well, you have people screaming about bannings, like nothing had ever happened before. Atom's post is just another 8108123 reiteration of what we've been saying all along.
  21. There's quite a lot to fix about them first, christ people. Wait until they are ready.
  22. I'm pointing out the problems with non-prem alts, not discussing whether or not they should be on Wild. Most of what i posted is what we saw, mentioned and got rules enforced for, but the same people that did it to us are now bypassing in other ways. I really dont care either way about the prem/non-prem debate for Wild. All i care about is having the same people that abuse the system, get extremely harsh penalties.
  23. It *does* harm you, and it has. I've seen plenty of it first hand, and the subsequent 'patches' to stop it. - Alts running animals into your raid force, while the mains stay within the town. - Alts logging off outside towns, logging in invulnerable to generally be annoying. - Alts repairing walls in areas subjected to pvp - Alts of opposite kingdoms being used as pvp-trainers - Alts running in to try to drain you of stam when your outnumbered while the main comes in right after. ...so on and so forth. This is just some of the things offhand i've seen and been part of, on the recieving end. As far as the fight between prem and non-prem alts being used, the prems offer battlerank. It's minute, but it adds to the Risk.vs.Reward i've been talking about. PS - who are you then?
  24. I'm guessing your Snoo? who are you if not. It's not senseless whining, alts ruin the gameplay for others. The Risk.vs.Reward system is broken when nakid non-rank players who contribute nothing to the game can involve themselves in 'war' on the wild server. Anyone who's been been on the recieving side knows it's not right. Alts have been a huge problem on wild, HUGE. It degraded back during the start which made the rules in the first place, seeing it first hand. It was pathetic.
  25. What's the point of hiding behind a fake alias? Makes your point(s) and your character questionable. Either way, it's people abusing the system that's the problem, using non-prem alts as a tool.
