  1. Best map i've seen in any Wurm server before. A lot of effort went in to crafting it in to something believable instead of the usual 'generated' look. Also plenty of nice players who will help and welcome people of all experience levels. The map is huge too, so plenty of space to go set up away from humanity if you prefer...
  2. Nice tool, great work. Any chance there could be some commandline parameters put in somehow? I'd like to make a simple batch script to dump the map to a cloud-share location every day, so that everyone can see the latest state of the map. I think a lot of people could make use of that, since the ingame map is pretty bad.
  3. I believe this is currently limited to Alliance villages that are within 50 tiles of where you died. How about a mod so that you can spawn at any, regardless of how far away it is?
  4. Any way to turn off clipping? So i could fly through a mountain or something? Just for fun.
  5. First, great work on the digging mod. This should have been a stock feature many moons ago! I've tried the mod to allow planting deeds anywhere, but it still seems we need to add a guard tower before deeding. Do you know if this mod still works, or if there's another one that does? I see none on this forum and would rather not rely on GM powers. Just playing on Adventure mode with a few friends, but would like a little more 'freedom' of deed spots.
  6. Of all the things to care about... I would say the Wurm logo isn't needed in the badge, but overall, it really make no difference in any way.
  7. I personally prefer less GM intervention. You have the tools needed in the game to set the permissions for things like this. If he was able to steal the items without exploiting a bug in that system, then fair play. The most toxic thing i see here is how strongly some people are pushing for the guy to be BANNED for playing within the game mechanics. Get a grip, chaps. Try employing some vigilance with your ingame belongings, just like you would IRL. I'll bet my left nut that half of the complainers in here have stolen something in Wurm more than once. It's peanuts compared to the losses you see in games like EVE Online. Comparing this to losing your house, well... now i've read it all.
  8. Well i think those who want to be ahead will be ahead regardless of free SB. I mean, it's given to everyone anyway. I don't see why the age of a server should have any impact on how these situations are treated. That's just me though, i'm not a skiil grinder, but i do loves me some free SB.
  9. To be honest, i think Rolf would love to make more money from Wurm, but i think the game simply isn't at a point where it is able to pull in the big numbers of subscribers. I think that's the only reason it hasn't. That said, i think he's making a good living even from the smaller subscriber base, from what i gather. I think a lot of the current loyal players would leave if he made changes necessary to making it attractive to the mainstream. I think the biggest change he could make would be improving combat and PvP... but most of the community seems to only enjoy PvE, so it's not a huge benefit for him to work on it so much at the moment, i guess. I think a niche game like this also has low, steady running costs, which makes it easier for the game to live on and grow steadily... compared to many bigger MMOs that start off with millions and end up with mere thousands before the inevitable death. As you said, the game has done nothing but grow in the past 6-7 years. And if Rolf's making a good living, why would he change that i guess. All in all, i think it got a pretty decent review. There's lots of reviewers that would have given it half that score simply because it's not their cup of tea.
  10. Everyone seems to miss the point that this is how a lot of new players see the game. Sure you can denounce everything this guy says and live in a Wurm-bubble thinking everyone else is wrong, but it's simply not true. The game needs a lot of work and until it's fixed a lot of outstanding issues, has it's animations/graphics improved and other such niceties, this is how people will continue to see it. I remember playing a few years ago, back when we were still "standing" on our horses/mounts, and this is the reaction many people gave it back then too. Wurm is gaining momentum and changing a lot, but it's still got a long way to go if it wants to attract a serious following. And i think this line near the end summed up both the game and the community... ... which is clear from the way people defend Wurm against anyone that dares to say a bad word about the current state of the game. Whether we're talking about the state in 2006, 2009 or 2013. Wurm might be perfect to some. I don't think it is personally, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the game.
  11. So you don't think that a service that people pay for, being unavailable when they want to use it, deserves some kind of compensation? I'm not saying "OMG, server was down for 5 hours, refund my 20 cents". But it costs nothing for him to hand out SB and it's something many people have been accustomed to, because he's nearly always handed it out in the past. So why stop now? It's just a small token that many would appreciate. I don't understand your point of "it would give an unfair advantage to some". Everyone would get it, so nobody would get an advantage. Anyone who was/wasn't asleep could easily burn up their SB in an evening session or two. So it would make no difference if they were asleep during the outage or not. The only "logical" point i see you making is that Rolf isn't obligated to hand out SB, which is true. But it's always nice to keep your customers happy, especially when it costs you zero cash-money to do so, as is the case here.
  12. As many have said, i'm not sure why the housing change was implemented, when it was clear that the majority of people preferred the chance of being creative with the open plan aspect. As seen here - http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/74177-informal-poll-multi-story-building-limits/ Are you just going to listen to whoever complains the loudest now, even if it's the side of the minority? If so, i guess that means you'll be reducing the grind of Wurm as requested in this thread - http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/74803-perspective-from-the-new-grinding-for-grinds-sake/ ... though i'm sure that won't happen, because most people don't want it to. Which i thought is how this stuff works? Maybe you could work on things people have wanted for ages, such as bridges and tower guard fixes, instead of ruining the fun many were having with their open-plan housing designs? Just an idea of course...
  13. This has happened a few times within the past week (including the login server last weekend most of the night). Don't we at least get SB for this anymore?
  14. I only use the Flatten skill for flatraising. If i'm just levelling off some land i will do it manually by digging/placing dirt where needed, since that requires less thought and attention, which is preferable to me when digging. I do something similar to what Spellcast said above, but instead of making/using a lamp as a marker, i just "Pack" each tile once it's flat so i've an indication of what is 'done' and which tiles still need working on.
