  2. so far only floors can be made of marble, there is one picture here and I could swear I recall another but cannot find it now: http://forum.wurmonl...120#entry712123 * ps be aware it takes something like 40 Paving skill to make a marble floor .....
  3. Is this an AT&T mail account? If I recall, for some reason they block a LOT of emails from various sources and Wurm is one of them. (My mom used to have an AT&T email account and it drove me nuts as she could not receive emails from various other family members, who used several varied email accounts) If not AT&T, you can also try checking your email's "spam" folder but if no help there either then send a forum PM to Oracle: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/user/432-oracle/
  4. here's when the fix went in: http://forum.wurmonl...100#entry722139 The quality is lower than expected because (I believe) they reduced the amount of materials by almost half and this threw off the final resulting quality, but since they are fast & easy to imp up with a few planks, I don;t consider it a biggee as for me, getting the Repair/Improve function to work right was a much more important issue.
  5. They recently patched in a fix, I can now repair and improve all of my off deed roofs now. This was maybe 5-8 days ago.
  6. I love my FrankD custom cloth armor set (90Q), it's the only armor I ever wear <3 "Speak softly and carry a Huge Axe"
  7. Always fun when the Goonswarm from SomethingAwful decide to come play Wurm
  8. To clarify, this means going through and murdering any guards you find anywhere inside a mine. Which is mostly an irritating hassle for many players but close to impossible for the newest players who rely on tower guards the most.
  9. I especially like the wood one, I would probably use that both as an indoor or outdoor (fence) option -- it would look especially nice for designing horse stalls.
  10. Did you try a /support call? It is possible it was someone in an alliance (who I think would automatically have permissions) but a GM can at least check if you have any clear security flaws.
  11. You must state which server since chickens cannot cross server lines
  12. We'd better get rid of our wells then since they use a very basic rope and pulley mechanical system... I think anything the ancient Romans (or the Flintstones) could figure out, should be within the possible.
  13. I like the long grass, and love the fact we can cut it if we prefer short grass.
  14. A mechanical item I would like is a "house lift" On the bottom floor you build a 1x1 platform. Each floor above, instead of a floor or a roof, you make into a lift shaft. On the top level you build the pulleys and mechanisms. You can toggle the lift on or off, it will move (slowly, jerky) between floors as long as the shaft extends through that level. You can drive on a cart or push a bed, go up a floor or two, and push it off. Besides the wood building parts, you must also craft the metal blacksmithing parts. Either iron or require brass.
  15. You might consider joining the Wurm Academy there on Pristine, spend a week or two getting some skills raised in a "safe" environment (plus some casual exploration) then head out into the "wilds" with a better overall skill set for solo homesteading, plus a better idea of where open land is and some local contacts who can help you get established in your own spot. You can make a few practice runs and then one day -- bam! You've left the nest and are flying solo I agree with too much emphasis on "waterfront + clay," I make a clay run about once a year and a wagonload lasts me forever. A fountain or well gives drinking water, and you can probably find scores of inland places with a 5 minute run to a harbor where you can leave a rowboat for those times you get a yen to sail.
  16. if they go into a normal mine, they do not come out, and will not come out if called. They are "stuck" only in the sense they will no longer exit the mine, not "stuck" on any physical surface. It was fixed somewhat recently then broken again.
  17. Buying olive sprouts 25c per 100 delivered SE Deliverance (Seahorse Bay) I will also trade horses, cows, cotton, wemp & seeds for sprouts if you are a new settler and need those items more. (Horses are 5-speed & no bad traits; 200 sprouts per horse) Or let me know what other types of items you would barter for, if you prefer a trade barter. Please send forum PM as I can be tricky to catch ingame * also please note that spouts can sustain major damage/decay if not kept in player inventory. Excessive decay paired with very low quality may not be acceptable so check with me if you think this could be a concern. Have most of what I need now I think, thanks
  18. If you are on Pristine now, head over for the next island over Release as it is far more sparsely settled (Pristine had a bit of a land deeding rush since it was the "relaunch" server, and Release which opened shortly later should be a lot more empty). I am told you are able to swim between those two servers which are in their own separate sort of mini cluster from the rest...
  19. Ya it seems sometime before 1.0 this was finally fixed -- and now it is broken again
  20. Nice guide for all new players, on the non-Epic servers too! For Epic, you might also include a brief "unbiased" description of the main starter islands & kingdom system so they can have an idea which one might suit them best.
  21. The server you are on, may be necessary to mention, as I believe those need to be traded in person.
  22. There is no deletion, if the character has never been Premium, it will get wiped after a few months of no activity (so don;t log in). You can create up to five characters per email so just make a new character. Unfortunately there uis no way to keep your old name, short of waiting a few months for the first one to get wiped.
  23. Personally, I would suggest either Release, the newest server, or Independence, the oldest server. Or Epic servers if you are at all interested in PvP. Celebration is probably the last server I would suggest since it has one of the highest density of players and deeded land. Release would put you in a newer community and my understanding is there is still a substantial amount of open land there still. I haven't been there however so someone else should confirm that. You'd need to re-create brand new characters to get there. It probably captures the best "flavor" of Wurm's original vision, since survival there is probably much rugged and hard than on the more established servers (but thats really a good thing). Independence is 4X the size of the other servers, and probably actually has the lowest population density of them all. Because there is less competition for land on Indy, I think it is also one of the more "mellow" of the veteran servers. It might also be the "easiest" server to start on since it has a lot of roads, guard towers, and people willing to donate items to help new players get established. I think it is probably the "wealthiest" of the freedom servers, which might also make it the easiest to earn coin on in return for labor, though I am not certain of that. Although it is *possible* to travel from Celebration to Indy, its another case where it might be easiest to restart new characters, as it requires extremely time consuming boat travel (possible 3-7 hours) and frankly its faster to re-run the tutorial. In all cases, you;ll probably want to move far from the central spawn area, about 30-40 minutes out the road from the starter village. To plant a deed, the person setting up the deed needs to be Premium player and purchase a 10s settlement form from an NPC trader (there is one at each starter town as well as various player owned traders). It's also possible to create a homestead area without a deed, but there is a lot more protections of various sorts for deed holders. And yes, with three of you, it is an excellent idea to divvy up the labor so each becomes specialized in different areas. One could be the mining/blacksmith, one the farmer/woodworker, one the stonemason/builder, or various other ways to go. Best to let everyone choose something they find personally interesting, though, so maybe chat before determining what "roles" to divide into.
