So as Jberg said we won't be eliminating the crops turning to weeds, what we will introduce is getting one seed (or crop if the result can be planted directly) from plants that have gone to weeds, so at the worst case the tile can be replanted

Everyone likes titles they can display for others to see. Here's some new ones for killing many monsters 1000 spiders - Arachnophobe 1000 Wildcats - Catastrophe 100 dragons - Dragonmaster 10000 bears - Bearly Bearlievable 100 Sharks - Got a bigger boat I'm sure you can think of funnier ones.

Seems to me a lot of people are pointing towards the cc volunteers for the "fall of wurm", be it inaction over offences or poor development policy. But this just isn't plausible; if bad customer service were a deciding factor in player count then companies such as Nexon (3 months to answer a ticket) would have died years ago. The real root lies at the heart of the community; greed. A lot of wurm's development has been stunted by certain community blocs wanting to keep a monopoly or advantage of some kind. Be it keeping priests unplayable to drive up magic prices, or for gelding animals to drive up the price of horses, or by priests not wanting others to have magic, or by the massive resistance to the PoI fix. The root of these issues? The real world value of in game currency. Ban silver and account selling and remove silver's ability to purchase premium and you'll be well on your way to fixing the heart of wurm's issues.

hello add a 1h delay to population updates on both /who and the website for pvp servers something that is widely used by pvpers is using server pop to determine if it's safe to pvp or not i'd go a bit more indepth about this but I feel as though most people are already very familiar about how this feature can influence pvp actions so I don't think it's necessary also because i'm godawful at making posts thx

I suppose we won't see big masses of long term players. As my little understanding shows the currently most populated "gamer type" pile seeks for quantity not quality. They measure themselves by how many games are in their steam account, how many games played through how fast. It is quite same as music gets outdated and expired in ... a week? We need to face the truth we are weirdos enjoying this game This does not mean at all that there is no room for a way bigger playerbase but would not expect tens of thousands of sticking players. I think this is absolutely fine, as long as CCAB is okay with not breaking the records of candycrush saga or such games.

It would also be great to use as load/unload areas in harbours (not needing to allow load, pickup etc on whole deed). These tiles could have a special outline colour when hovered over by the mouse for easier management by deed owners/officials

I suppose this is really two suggestions: 1. Allow a single specific animal to be unhitched from a wagon/cart. 2. Allow the animal to be unhitched + led in a single action. This would save unnecessary unhitching/re-hitching when all you want is to take a single horse for a solo ride before returning to your wagon. And more importantly, it would prevent anyone from going through what happened to me yesterday. I was flatraising from my wagon. When I was ready to call it a day, I was of course too high up to just ride back down the slope. So I figured I'd just unhitch my bison, lead them, and push my wagon down the slope before climbing down myself. Little did I know that my bison had grown so restless after years of being shackled to my wagon that they would bolt away in various directions (all of them straight up a mountainside) the instant they were unhitched. I didn't even manage to lasso one of them. (Hmm, lassoing might deserve a suggestion thread of its own.)

As I continue work with the Ultima Nostalgia project (in which the entire server is one huge deed), I'm getting more and more requests on YouTube and elsewhere from people who would like to live in their own house on the server. I suspect that a lot of these people are Ultima players who have never tried Wurm before but who would be willing to buy Wurm Unlimited to live in a place that looks like UO and is populated by other Ultima fans. Obviously, since they've never played Wurm they don't really understand how deeds work. So I've tried to explain the problems of letting them live there. This got me to thinking about permissions. We can set permissions to houses, carts, boats, fences, mounts etc. But what if we could right click and set permissions to TILES that are within one's deed? This way, deed owners could: Create various empty plots - allowing "anything goes" so players could build a house from ground up, farm etc and anything they wished - so sort of like a mini deed inside a deed. Create a public mine that allows players to mine and pick up ore, but doesn't allow them to load a forge onto a cart Create wood chopping forests, keeping the forests and trees of the rest of the deed safe. Create public farming land And I'm sure there are many uses that I'm not even realizing at this point It would be up to the deed owner to mark these areas somehow with fences or signs Right click tile... Set permissions from a popup Coordinates of tile can be seen in the title to ease remote management Tile could be named to better keep track of which set of tiles (Plot 1, Plot 2, Public forest, Public mine etc) they belong to PS: Before posting this, I checked to see if there were any other similar posts, and I'd just like to point out that Enigma_Prime is suggesting something similar. Please go and check out Enigma's post as well. I decided to make a separate thread about this since what I'm asking for is slightly different, has different mechanics etc

What they said. It's less repairing for the items... I love the dmg reduction runes, personally.
  15. 2 points
The rune is on the item, hence froth the item takes 10% less dmg, the rune has no influence on the dmg the player receives from a mob as the player itself is not runed

I think you missed the point Retro. She's talking about lack of punishment for people that take a ###### on our community. Things like exploiting glitches to enter a locked house to steal everything of value off of a personal merchant, in my case. Should I get my items back becasue I didn't know you could interact through a merchant through a window? No. Should this person be allowed to keep the items? Absolutely not. TL:DR, stop rewarding thieves and griefers.

Well I'm no newbie and I make, sell and deliver bulks for a living and really enjoy it. I had nothing, then met Kuja who invited me to her deed, lived there for like a week and got to know the Lemosa Alliance, moved to a camp, started helping the allies with random stuff like chopping down forests and building roads...they gave me tools, I worked and learned, everyone wins. Then I built another road to help an ally, got myself tons of wood in the process, moved to another camp by the ocean where ppl could easily reach me to buy my stuff and began making planks and storing them on BSB's. I made 4k planks, sold them, bought a ship, started delivering. Then made over 10k planks, sold them delivered, got myself some silver. Then I said goodbye to my camp, sailed away, found a place to settle and made a village with a friend. And I'm still making, selling and delivering building materials. I don't see why ppl think it's so brutal for newbies to make bulks. You'll fail a lot and grind a lot, but that's how EVERYTHING works on wurm. Also, you don't need high ql to sell them, there's always demand and the money is pretty decent, mainly because ppl just hate making bricks n' stuff.

Sigh. Ever since I started playing, and probably going all the way back to the beginning of the game, we get these threads periodically that invite all the doomsayers to air their grievances and predict the end of the world with their laundry list of generic complaints, citing all kinds of graphs, biased polls, server numbers on any given day, global warming, you name it. To listen to the folks in those threads (wish I had a silver for every one I've seen), Wurm shouldn't even be here. Yet here we are. lol. This too shall pass. Wurm is still here and getting better & better every day. The glass-half-empty folks seem to forget, or they weren't here, how much has changed and improved (or they don't care since it wouldn't fit their narrative). I remember well, stick horses that you rode standing, all characters looked the same, single story houses with only a few wall choices, deeds had to be square so expanding had to be on all 4 sides, no deed stakes, no crafting window, and before my time I hear there were no bsbs, no fsbs, no boats, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,.....the list is mind boggling tbh. As for the initial question....have I noticed we lost players? NOPE!! I'm having too much fun playing with all the new goodies we keep getting. I can hardly keep up with them. lol. So we lost some extra alts that were created for Christmas or other occasions, big deal. Happens every year. Guess what....it'll happen again next year and we'll get another one of these threads.

@Greyfox @Corsan No, I had not noticed. Are you having fun in game? I'm having a lot of fun in game when I get a chance to play. I never seem to have enough time to do all the things I want to do! Mostly building the core of my deed bit by bit. A mix of pottery brick and rendered walls. Have a wooden barn going as well. Already planning its renovation and haven't even finished it yet lol. A meal yesterday gave me axe affinity, and with the extra sleep bonus we all received, I decided it was a good time to go do some grounds-keeping. Thinned out all kinds of pine trees. Those things grow like weeds. Don't like leaving stumps so foraged, botanized, collect grass, etc. Found raspberry and blueberry bush sprouts! So grounds-keeping eventually turned to landscaping, which reminded me the heavy chain fences don't really fit my deed anymore and will need to be reconsidered, though I should probably plant my next round of crops... which brought me down to the reed patties, where my dock needs expansion so I can work on ship-building. Of course I'll need more dirt for that, which is why I got a WOA dredge at auction, though leveling another terrace by the barn soon to be finished and renovated would be a good idea too and that will yield dirt, or require dirt... either way, getting hungry, quick bite to eat and into the mines, need more iron. So yeah, I hadn't noticed that players chose to perhaps go have fun elsewhere, if that's the case. Having too much fun myself. If not for Rolf, them folks would have had nothing to leave to begin with... and you'd have nothing to return to.

Well, it's cool - I admit - to have dragon skulls on the deed. But after a while, it does get boring. This is certainly not a priority change, but it's one I would love to have. Of course, we could make the other skulls look just as cool as dragon skulls. Here are some references for ideas (from other games and stuffz). The size of the skulls could be approximately equal to the dragon skulls to make proper decorations. Like I said, certainly something that isn't immediately necessary but would still be great for the future. Of course the models below would need some adapting to the actual look of our in-game creatures... for example the "antlers" on the giant. Forest Giant Skull Kyklops Skull Goblin King Skull Troll King Skull

Recruitment is back open! The Crusaders are looking for active players who want to craft, dig, spam materials and of course PvP. Just go to our website and put in an application! If you'd like to come over and try PvP out we'd love to have you come stay for a few weeks! We have multiple deeds you can stay at near HOTA or bit farther away at our capital. We can supply you with all tools, weapons, armor and enchants! If you'd like to jump in our TS and chat or on the Wurm Discord shoot me or anyone else from TC a pm and we'll arrange a time to speak with you! Thanks for the look!

Haha, the joke, see how much you can buy with the same amount of money now than 4 years ago, yah, the real world currency stayed the same, doesn't means anything else in Wurm didn't took a huge dive. A knarr used to cost 16s you can have them for 8s. Enchants, heck, all over the board once again. Imps, yah, right, welcome to less than 3rd world country hourly rate. Permissions are a mess, the whole management is silly (specially the lack of groups), the lack of proper informations do not help (which overwrite which in the case of wagons/containers/house/deeds) and the holes in the perms are usually bugs or exploits, that are only known to the exploiters and/or devs and are being exploited by a few till it's fixed with little to no repercusions. And the damages are done for good on a community level, just have to see the paranoia everywhere.

well, with the change of mechanism and forcing us to have a wall bellow the arches (ready any type of walls) they might want to either remove those creative limitations or add new walls fitting in there. Go tell the cathedrals builders they can't have 5 storey tall arches... i'm sure that will work nicely for them.
  33. 1 point
while embarked, you can right click individual animals to unhitch just the one. This helps a ton with wagons. +1 for unhitch while leading option to eliminate the bolting animal. There really is no reason not to.

I had a token placed on a deed I bought so far up the mountain (took sandwich's to get to it) the only way I could make decent access to it was to re-organize a tunnel system to pop out up there. Would of been nice to just be able to drag it down to the bottom without having to disband the deed.

The removal of tree collision was one of the best additions to the game, would be sad to see it going in the wrong direction again.
  39. 1 point
So our animals we are leading should go back to not walking through solid fences and get stuck instead? We also walk through low things like low hedges, one can assume for immersion that we are stepping over them. One can also assume that when we walk or ride through trees we are simply just going around them, we just didn't see it though If the big trees are really getting a smaller collision box or something to not block paths, then what even is the point other than being a nuisance? I get some people want to climb with trees.. but these are the days we have so many ways to climb without a headache. Goat shape cast and runes, refresh cast and runes, endurance sandwiches, wine...
  40. 1 point
For me I'd like to move my token because after redesigning now the token is at the corner of a house instead of near a road. I'm all for this as long as you can't do it on Chaos of course. - Costs 5 Silver - Can only be done once every year (or maybe 6 months). - Can not be done on Chaos
  41. 1 point
Relocating it again if that's a thing.. As it is.. it's probably to be closer to the main building she uses, after expanding a deed a few times.. what was once the center or most used space on the deed could now be somewhere ~far, around several buildings etc.. makes it annoying to go and drop coins there or use the token bank. Besides that.. Many of token features are available from inventory anywhere on the server, withdrawal and returning coins or working with the bank are the two things that have been addressed in other topics asking for new object similar to token's functionality.. but placed at more convenient places, like next to a mailbox, current house, etc. +1
  42. 1 point
I truly hope tree collisions do not make their way back into the game. I enjoy hunting in the olive forest, not playing pinball with my horse.

And that's a big part of the problem. There's many threads with devs asking for help reproducing the embark bug. I used the search and found some pretty easily. In one thread, Alectrys is asking on their behalf. Keenan has addressed the inability to reproduce the problem in threads that didn't even start out talking about the embark bug. He's expressed his own frustration in making attempts at reproducing it, enough times that I remember it. All the while, it's made very clear. If they could find a way to reliably reproduce the issue, they can solve it. It was said over and over, to the point where someone like me, who has never once since 2012 ever seen the embark bug... knew perfectly well about devs asking for help reproducing the issue and that being what held them back. It was fixed within days of getting a reliable way to reproduce it, just as they always said it would be. An obvious problem if you play the game? Super, then why didn't you explain how to reproduce it in the original post of your thread? Why did no one step forward before? Some of the people in your thread snidely suggesting the devs should have asked for help... were themselves commenting in older threads where devs were asking for help. *facepalm* Were they contributing anything helpful? Nope, not at all. Do they ever? Yet here we are, you don't remember ever seeing something about it. You say players "should be fed." Right. Trouble is, some people refuse to remember or acknowledge when they are. Devs don't listen to players? Nonsense. Some people are stuck in the negative. The Wurm way @Thorakkanath? Okay, let's see. To me, the "Wurm way" is people taking time to step in and help when they can, or at least try. That's what's great about the Wurm Community and it's happened so many times over the years. You and I have nearly identical systems. Mine runs flawlessly, yours chokes. You choose to blame the devs. That's your way. In your shoes, I'd ask for help too, but I'd ultimately decide that if the game runs smoothly on other systems, the game's not the problem. Something in my system is causing the issue, which means it's entirely within my power to fix it, one way or another. Trust me, Code Club's policy is to coddle and cajole players like some people in this very thread that do nothing but insult the devs. Some players even go as far as claim they shouldn't have to contribute, because they're customers. How ridiculous is that? I'm lost in the woods, but since I'm a tax-payer, I shouldn't have to do squat and shall demand I be rescued. That's their way, and not even close to the Wurm way. The Wurm way is you roll up your sleeves and get to work. If a rescue happens, awesome. If it doesn't, you'll get yourself out of the woods... or just settle down in a three room lean-to with a hot bowl of squirrel stew and a local coyote for conversation. The Dev staff actually spends a great deal of energy engaging with their players. They're forever having to explain any minute change to a cohort of players foaming at the mouth, stomping their feet, and throwing tantrums. And then? They have to sit here and read that they never listen to players...

It has come to our attention that some Wurmians are feeling anxiety about this simple astronomical occurrence. We astronomers here at the University feel compelled to assure everyone that this unusual conjunction will probably not precipitate the end of the world. It is simply a matter of some large rocks orbiting in space. Aligning their gravitational masses so as to induce freakish distorting tidal forces of unprecedented strength upon the crust of our planet. Really there is hardly any danger at all of rupture or ... more severe consequences. And besides, if worst should indeed come to worst, our Philosophers remind us that death, be it even the most protracted and agonizing, gasping for thinning air as enormous volcanic fissures gape and the ground crumbles from beneath one's feet, is merely a new beginning.

+1 Yes! We need exactly this! And expanded permissions over buildings would be lovely as well. Picture this: Someone is trying to build a cathedral where priests of all faiths can come and perform sermons. As it currently stands, if this is done on their deed, they risk people casting various spells that could destroy areas of land, seal off tunnels or blast open mines, remove reinforcements in tunnels, speed age crops to oblivion.... and many others. Add to that the Path tiles that could be destroyed by careful use of enchant grass or other spells. If we had more control over what permissions could be set where on deed, we could have more thriving and active community deeds instead of a mass of mini deeds intended to control the abilities of visitors and protect ourselves from people who don't have our best interest in mind.
  48. 1 point
Fun fact: This has actually caused animals to suddenly have strange species as parents. We don't usually reuse creature IDs, but in the odd chance that the server has an issue before saving used IDs, it can happen. I've heard of a horse with a crocodile parent once. If you see this, it's harmless and should be fairly rare. Just saw I was quoted and figured I'd bring a little entertainment with me.

+1 Ive thought about this before, and how convenient it would be to be able to make like "zones" in your deed that have their own set of permissions.

So I have 43FS, 30 Longsword. I'm trying to be a good hunter (even been fighting in Manual instead of Autofight, watching the position of my footing (and distance of the mob), and have been using Focus whenever I can) and eventually someone that can assist in unique killings and Rift events(once I feel I get to 70FS and then weld a Huge axe, and train with it in Aggressive fighting). Yet I'm still hitting 'extremely hard' with my Longsword, and it's 85QL (with Animal's Demise, 71 LT, 91 NB, and 81 CoC). I want to be able to confront trolls and deal with them (instead of run like a scared cat), and the only way I see is to be able to hit harder. Now I'm also using a 70QL plate set with AoSP. Yet I've been told of all the effort I'm doing, thinking 'more FS = the more powerful I am and the harder I hit', feels like was for nothing. Because I'm told that Body Strength affects the damage... not FS. And it's 27. I've been told to "mine, dig, cut wood" as the best ways of getting it up. Yet my Mining is 46, Digging is 72, and Woodcutting is 38. I'm told that Body Strength needs to be around the mid-40's to be able to get the damage I want. So, is this going to take me until.. I dunno, 2024 until I'm finally close enough?? Because this is getting ridiculous, and not fun. I want this to feel like I'm actually getting somewhere (and actually be someone who's respectful instead of just another player who has nothing but the clothes on their back). Yet I feel like I've been grinding my life away and have little to show for it. I get Wurm is one big mess of grinds, one way or another, and people enjoy it as it feels like there's purpose. I want to feel this too, yet I also don't want to feel this is going to take years to get to where I need.
