Am alive and kicking! Thanks! Learning new stuff for instance Unity because I suck at c++ although Unreal does seem to be better at certain things. Afraid you can't expect anything new in a good while though, so it's notsoon(tm) Have a nice weekend!

Rendered lighthouse - Yaga With this weeks update out of the way, we begin to look forward to our next content update, so updates will be light until then (if at all), but there's plenty coming! We'll be showcasing a few things over this period, detailing what to expect and just how awesome it will be, but first... Patch Notes Eye of the...cat? Some keen eyes spotted glowing green objects in last weeks shots, and I'm sure many of you have been wondering about their function. Today we unveil the beginning of our plans for a revamped highway system! Freedom highway rules have long been a necessity to ensure ongoing infrastructure does not disappear overnight, but often winds up being a slow process with paperwork and permissions. With this in mind, we've been taking steps to return the majority of control into players hands with highways, with a new highway system. Those items are called catseyes, and are the foundation of a huge new highway system, allowing players to build, link, and protect highways across all PvE servers without requiring GM assistance and permissions. The system will involve connecting existing routes to highways and also come with a waypoint system, providing markers to local villages (when opted in) and starter deeds. Navigating your way around the server, identifying the nearest starter town and local villages will be a breeze. Villages can also choose not to be included in the waypoint marking, although any highways running through a village will mean KOS is not possible (this will now be enfored with mechanics rather than general rulings). Altering the highway is not possible without removing link protection and rerouting meaning less paperwork for the GM team and also smoother operations for you all. This won't mean the elimination of all highway rules, wanton destruction of highways and other abuses will still fall under freedom rules, but less necessity in requiring GM approval, and also allows caves to be protected too! What will change with this is the redefining of what consists of a highway, In the past single paved roads bordered by sand (gravel is okay!) have also been included, with the release of this it will be strictly 2 or 3 tile wide paved roads, so if you wish to update any single tile paths in your area in anticipation of this new system please do log a support ticket. There will also be an overlap period to allow existing highways to be marked with the new system upon its release, giving everyone plenty of time to understand the new system when it launches (we will be working extensively with the wiki team to ensure that all information is provided prior to the update) so don't worry about being caught off guard WU live The latest beta will go live to Wurm Unlimited some time next week, stick in our discord or follow us on Facebook to know the exact date closer to its release Dev team expansion This week we’d like to welcome Keenan to the dev team even more than currently with his contracted hours increasing so he is now officially a part time developer for Wurm. His focus in the short term will be mostly on backend systems and a few different projects that have been sitting on the backburner waiting for someone skilled enough to take control of them, but we wish him luck in his work and having to deal with Budda on a more regular basis. We’d also like to welcome Ausimus to the team who has recently joined as a volunteer developer as well. After much experience working with Wurm Unlimited code and creating mods, he has already made his mark with a couple of bug fixes that went live with this weeks update. Community Content This weeks community content is already extremely well known, her project has been features in massively OP, vice, and several other sites too, so I'd like to take a moment to show you all just how awesome it is!z Our very own Malena has been hard at work in recreating the world of Ultima Online in Wurm, and it's amazing, check out the first video in her series here!: Check out the full thread of her adventures here! Caption this!Following from the awesome captions from our last contest, I've decided to host another, with this weeks top caption receiving a key for 1 months premium. This caption comes from the citizens of san escobar, with the amazing Wurm car! That;s it for this week! Next week we'll cover a few more things coming in the next update, so I'll see you all then. Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team

Congrats to the new devs! And aw thanks for the mention guys :). I'm fully committed to this project now and will see it through to the end. Just started my summer holidays literally an hour ago, so I have nearly a month ahead of working on this project and geeking out :). Aaahh!

I seriously can't trust Wurm while being in Chaos. I have embarked on a sailboat 3 different times within 10-15 minutes and had to relog due to when embarking the boat, all controls and everything is locked up and can't do anything except relog. And all at the time I'm thinking I might be chased soon. This is a very serious bug for anyone in Chaos as if this happened during combat or near an NPC mob like a Drake Spirit then we are completely screwed upon logging back in as Wurm at times like to take minutes to load a new client. Sometimes the client will load quickly, but other times it can take a full minute or so to get the launcher to let you log back in.

With the increased range and firing speed it was opening it up to just stacking 20 of them in a small range and bursting anyone down - the damage they dealt was always balanced towards only one firing at a player at any time, so it was either fixing this or lowering their damage and risking turning them into useless decorations again.

I don't quite care how its implemented but the sticks on these lamp posts have been bugging me since I first started playing this game a few years back now. Right now I feel like their only purpose seems to be to poke someone in their eyes if they ride past them. Are they not there to hold something? I would love the option of kingdom banners, or blank banners that take on the same color as a painted light source (if possible given you only paint the actual lightsource on lamps and not the metal part at all - if it's not possible, have it match the plain banners?) Who is with me?

I'm aware some feel that there are other cosmetic options that are important as well, such as skin colour. That said, this thread is about one specific issue, please do not derail it or disagree simply because your desired option has not been implemented, such posts will be considered off topic and removed as such, If you'd like other options implemented, feel free to make a new thread, and obey the rules.

If Egard isn't around you can get in touch with me or Rudie if needed too. I'm sure when the end of that purchase plan comes, we will have plenty more.

Choices do matter in wurm, what skills you pursue shape your gameplay, every dirt you dig and brick you place changes the world around you, you have an impact on the game in such a profound way that is not seen in any other MMO. Considering accounts are bought and sold means those who own the account never even made the choice, and this limits their abillity to immerse themselves in the game and feel more connected to the character. Adding the ability to change gender will actually allow players who have never felt connected to their character due to a difference in gender to fix that and begin to form an attachment to them, and the choice they make to change gender will matter to them far more than you. After all, what's a pixel or two when someone feels happier with their toon?

+1 Skill should reduce the time... and item worked on.. should have some reasonable time... boats or parts for them take unreasonable times, I think unfinished parts for boats had hours ... to be repaired, where it's a lot faster and easier to go and make one from scratch Skill and material used.. like fences and plank QL... ql of the plank should both reduce the time and maybe reduce damage done with the repair...(not to mention...maybe.. improve the ql.. in wall/fence case...(I'm aware of the existing improving mechanic))

Shatter is of no concern when you are spamming regular items to sell. It is more beneficial to sell dozens of 80-90 chanted items, few 90 plus and 1 100 plus than try to push 1 item to 100 and sell it. Shatter starts to become an issue when you are enchanting a very valuable item for yourself or for when someone else. Shatter makes enchanting for someone else stressful knowing you might shatter the valauble item at any moment, no matter how high your channel is. You are in no way obliged to compensate for the shattered item but it is still embarrassing and unpleasant. I dont think developers will ever remove shatter, but I do hope they add working ways to prevent shatter on all items.

Currently Channeling is the only skill that can destroy an item on a failure. Applying that to masonry, failing to improve a wall with masonry would destroy the entire building.

I agree. But your 2nd paragraph contradicts the first one, the very first thing you do in wurm when you start playing is choosing how your character looks, and gender selected during registration(which is a bit confusing and maybe intended by Rolf or whoever wrote the registration..) for the newly created character. Which now being changed. It's one of the core things that make the character what it is. When buying a character.. buyer often doesn't have much choice with name or looks of the character or old backstory of it, they buy it for the skills it possesses. If the character is a good, same as a brick or a torch, shovel even... we weren't able to change on a whim creator's name, color or creation material, now there's an option to do that with characters. Which is something major and noticeable as we interact with these goods every day.(well most do whatever they do day and night on their deeds) but at game events where players meet, there will be slight confusion. It doesn't really affect me, it's just confusing to see Jon as Jenna tomorrow, but still be named Jon(parents.. wt*); First few encounters with people you knew before to look one way... will be now looking differently, but all will fade soon enough, whatever.

Around mid last year Rolf began scaling back how much time he spent on Wurm each day. With Budda taking over as project manager and leading development, it gave Rolf some room to take a step back and tinker with other projects: Rolf is still around to advise on issues the dev team faces (or explain old code) but his day to day is spent on other non wurm related works and Budda is the one who carries the torch

You can spend literally half of every day of your life doing fatigue draining actions in wurm. People are hitting this limit consistently. Spending 12 hours of every day doing actions only. This is a bad thing though to the wurm community. Not because spending 3/4s of your waking hours in wurm is unhealthy mentally and emotionally (likely physically as well) but because you can't spend 100% of your time in wurm. I bet this'll get decried as toxic but for once in my life I actually kind of feel sad for the wurm community. If I ever hit fatigue I'll probably go for a stroll and reconsider my life. Or if I have no operating legs Ill have my nurse wheel me to the porch so I can cry in the fresh air. I mean just hitting fatigue to begin with takes what, almost a full 24hrs of grinding? More if you sleep 8 hours? I only knew one guy who would hit fatigue consistently and people considered him a madman a decade ago for doing so

Larders are making meals last longer now. much longer. snowballs too. I dislike cooking in this game i mean it's fine but, so much hassle for something that lasts a day or two. 99.9% of what i've made in 3 years is meat and veg. my FC is 24. But.. now that we have larders, now that food is something that you can actually store.. I think i may get around to preparing a ton of bangersnmash next winter. Then there's refresh, and opulence and the sac'ing of rares. -1

This thread: As a priest, i don't give a crap how many mass-produced items i will blow up while enchanting for a big sale. But when somebody blows up your beloved supreme tool or something, remember all your counter-arguments about economy and ######. Oh right, won't happen to you, you'll sell it blank to avoid risks. Economy, huh? Two rare butchering knives died when i wanted one enchanted for myself. Am I going to buy another or a casted one? Hell no, and here goes your "positive" economy effect. +1 again and forever

I am not sure the reasoning for the support in the middle of a tri-arch, but it just does not fit in my opinion. Great job on coming up with the new arch options though, I love them. Here is a picture of a T-arch with a fence, if this was to be a fence gate it would not make sense at all. Even without a fence gate and just a regular fence, it does not look like a good match in any case. The right and left arch's used alone look great, and I see no reason why we can't have a center arch without the post in the center, call it a crown arch, as I would like to use a tri-arch in a few designs, but will not if its an area I want more open without a post. Please change the T-arch or add a crown arch.
