Just imagine... You go to a restaurant and order a rack of baby back ribs, a side of potatoes and a soda. Then the server brings you a chicken breast and steamed vegetables. "Oh here sir, brought you a healthy option because it looks like you are gaining weight. No dessert either, okay?" Then she charges you for the ribs anyways and the dessert. Get the F--- out of here!

I don't think it's unfinished (but maybe i'm missing something), but there are other conditions and you might need multiple puppets to get all possible conversations. If there is interest i can get the conversations out in an organized list.

/puts grumpy-old-lady hat back on Personally, I see this issue boiled down to two things. 1) The stated purpose of the fatigue brick-wall is to prevent macroing. If the true purpose is only to prevent macroing, and people are hitting that brick wall through legitimate play with no macroing, then it's obvious the system is faulty and needs some attention. 2) It is not the business, nor do I think it is the goal, of Code Club to implement mechanics to protect us from ourselves. As the old saying goes, opinions are like <insert impolite expletive representing your backside here>, everybody has one. And yep, I have one too. In my opinion, too many people seem to think that it's their right and duty to control the lives of others to fit their view of how those people should be acting and what they should be *allowed* to do. In my opinion, some people spend way too much time minding everybody else's business and not enough time minding their own. With that said, I do not think Code Club is in the business of minding our business for us *for our own good.* However, if I'm wrong, and if any part of the fatigue brick-wall is indeed for the purpose of minding our business for us, then that's just one more reason the system needs some attention. Since I've never hit that brick wall myself and probably never will due to my preferred playstyle, I don't have a horse in this race. I do have a sense of fair play however, and on a personal note...people minding other people's business is a particular burr under my saddle. Makes me grumpy. lol

What you dont seem to understand is that is not the job of the devs to decide what are healthy amounts of playtime. What if I am a retired vet with ptsd what copes better on an online setting and I want to spend 16 hours a day of my life on an online community? I have paid my dues, why cant I do what I want now? What if I am filthy rich and dont need to have a job? Or what if I am married with no children and my wife is visiting her folks and I have nothing better to do? Or... What if I am a no lifer? Whats it to you? I pay my subscription same as anyone else. You're not my doctor to tell me what is best for me and is not your problem anyways. Now, a hard cap? I can get on board with that. But when it goes to the level that it wont allow me to play the game... Thats not cool. I have never hit the hard cap myself so my understanding may be flawed, but as I understand it prevents you from doing actions at all. If the goal is to limit progression, then make it so people dont gain skill after they reach the fatigue cap instead As for whats healthy or not, after giving it some thought, what people said here is true. Not anyone's problem. Shouldn't be part of the discussion.

the wagon is actually my design. I got several different pieces of it from a adult coloring book. colored it myself and over layed it into my own design. ive done several other wagons as well. Thank you all for the complements on the wagon. I have started designing custom tents as well even, one to match this wagon but i havent figured out how to add those to the game yet. once i have it figured out ill be glad to post pictures of them as well.

If the issue has to come down to insulting players who find issues with this by calling them nolifers. I would suggest perhaps you might want to rethink whether you're on the side of a fair discussion or not.

Another day, another task in Wurm and many suggestions coming from it. Some have been mentionned in others threads, raised by others or even myself, but lets go through them again and lets hope they will get some traction. Flattening : Currently flattening only allow to flatten a tile toward the lowest point. Sometimes you want to instead use the higher one. So dual option for both flatten higher / flatten lower. Ceiling levelling: Currently, you cannot level a ceiling down, it can only be up (and currently bugged as well). Lets use some concrete for that task shall we. Ceiling flattening: Same as the floor flattening suggestion. Ceiling lowering: Well, with cave buildings, the land shapping of the ceiling is almost as important as the land shapping of the floors. We have options to raise them. Why are we still unable to lower them with concrete. Mining and random directions change: When you mine forward on a flat tile... why does it go up and down randomly specially when your skill is above 90... one can understand that you might mistake your feet for a rock when mining at low skill and weirdly change the slope... but at high one, those silly mistakes shouldn't happen. Lets change that and allow our mines to be straight. Side mention: Concrete. Most needed tools for our mine smoothness and more painfull one to obtain. Not only the fail rate is horrible, but the ash creation is the worst part of it. Most of our fire sources do not create ash, though, that by-product is still highly needed. Ash trays for all forges, ovens, smelters and others kilns, allowing the fuel we use to be transformed into ash over time.

So I left wurm Online quite some time ago to work on other things, playing on a few WU servers from time to time. However, since I have stopped playing wurm this is what I have been up to. I have been working on with a group of friends on a small tech demo of a game, made in the past few months. Downloadable here :https://nkepar.itch.io/facility-alpha-7

only thing i will 100% agree with is removing oakshell from horses even if it has to be a pvp only thing so freedomers dont lose dragged horses to a wildcat the damage reduction is insane compared to any other normal barding but the core issue of oakshell is the combo of that insane dr with 0 speed penalty

As odd as it sounds, I believe the entire backstory/lore of Wurm is told as a conversation between puppets. No one ever noticed because who was leveling puppeteering aside from a few odd people? One of those "understanding WU code" threads could probably pull the details for you.

Thank you for the kind words Ayes. You always been so supportive regardless of whatever I was doing here in Wurm and I thank you for that. Indeed, the community here in Wurm is just lovely. You and all the other wonderful people showing their support in this thread are a beautiful example of how special this community is. Right now we Wurmians are in the spotlight. This forum thread is being posted all over the place. Articles are being written. People from other gaming communities are peeking into our world through this thread. And although I'm thrilled that they have an interest in this project, what actually moves me more than that, is how the wurm community shines in this thread. So many people helping out with my dumb questions, people offering help and giving encouragement, and even our mod guru bdew arriving like a knight in shining armor to make me a mod so I won't have building restrictions. You guys amaze me. How proud I am to be a part of this wonderful community! Thank you so much everyone!

+1 just add mirrors in the traders for 5s or something, and let that have a change gender option.
  21. 2 points
Used to be able to just type /gofemale (something like that) and you'd change to a female if you were a male, one time only and couldn't change back. I'd like the option to edit my toon and as mirrors can't be traded anymore and there's no option for changing genders I'd don't see why we couldn't have a paid option. +1

Very good point! I would have never connected it to something like this (which one could consider a form of "fan art"). But you never know! This thing is getting covered all over the place too so they are bound to notice. I was just pointed to Vice's Motherboard that did an article as well. As stated above, i feel a big part of this issue is how many people seem to be in complete disbelief that players can legitimately hit the fatigue cap. It's a lot easier to do than people seem to think and it certainly does not require account sharing or macroing, playing a lot sure but why punish players for playing the game they pay premium for the right to play without restrictions on their account? I've experienced hitting the cap several times before and atm a good friend of mine basically hits it every single day and is stuck in foreverfatigue all because he happens to be working hard on grinding his account atm, which just seems realy silly. He logs in every day and has to set skillgain goals not that he is trying to achieve, but that he hopes to achieve before fatigue forces him to log out of wurm.

Cooking UI with space for all ingredients, highlight all ingredients, drag/drop everything the recipe needs into UI all at once and UI finds out where to put them if you have done it the hard way once before. Could that work? It would make panfilling a treat tho.

I would be pissed about this fatigue thing too if my face started to morph into my characters. Perhaps you should take a break, go do other stuff, Wurm isn't going anywhere. If you are constantly using up fatigue without a break, Wurm is probably the least of your worries.

As someone who does not like to cook (in wurm) I still give this a -1. If you don't want to cook then purchase one of the very affordable, very long-lasting food items from someone like Shydow or Tris.

I spent about 5.5 hours this afternoon grinding archery on my priest (aiming for 31 body control to ride hellsies). Gains: Body Control- 28.16 (+0.47) Archery- 65.30 (+2.70) Short Bow- 59.99 (+3.30) My skill log for the grind, with sleep bonus, with BC affinity food: You'll notice gaps in the skill gain... I am human and need to walk away every now and then.

This was something I suggested a super long time ago, but now with rare effects it is even more possible. Flaming Aura - Provides a fire glow, dripping flames Frostbrand - Frost glow, snowflakes Life Transfer - maybe a pure red glow or a white glow? Venom - Green glow, green particles Rotting Touch - blackish purple, rotting It is an aesthetically pleasing addition that would not doubt add to the game. Additionally allow it to be turned off through the settings maybe under bloom effects. (For pvpers worried about lag)

Lets imagine (and probably did) that a new player on Xanadu might of found your horse and since there was no owner around nor deed and they had no stallion of their own they brought Baxtorgolden to their homestead. Living life alone out in the wild Baxtorgolden was growing lonely and this new owner brought enjoyment back into good ol Baxtorgolden's life. He was the only Stallion this new player on xanadu had and he had 20 gorgeous mares on his stead. Good ol Baxtorgolden heart jumped and he thought to himself that he must of died and went to stallion heaven. Within a wurm year, Baxtorgolden was the father of 40 new ponies. He was content and happy of his new life for he was a vulnerable Stallion at this point. He probably would not live more than a few more wurm months but glad he was found and re purposed back into horse society. The end. You should be happy of Baxtorgolden new life someplace out in the huge island of Xanadu, enjoying the pleasures of a what a breeding stallion has to offer. I want to believe that you too can see his new found happiness outweighs any sort of coin value. At least he didn't end up in a glue factory or was born on my home island of Chaos, where most male horses are disposable and usually end up on the bladed end of a huge axe.

This was back when gaining fight skill was super piss hard so gaining even 50 fs was a real accomplishment - Especially on the PvE servers since it was a much less skill efficient way to fight creatures than fighting other players. So when he announced that PvP players would be allowed to come over and raid us we were understandably pretty upset, especially since a decent amount of players had given up entirely on fs after the "nerf incident" when a select group of cheating players on Wild resulted in a game wide percentage of fs removed for everyone. I had 5 or something fs before the nerf so that didn't matter much for me anyway, but hearing that PvP players would be allowed onto Jenn-Kellon Home really wasn't my cup of tea. The time of the JKH PvP was honestly one of the most devastating events in the game, because we lost the sense of community that we had prior to that. Everyone fortified their deeds and as soon as someone entered local you'd start PMing everyone you knew to find out whether they belonged or if they were a spy looking for a weakness. In a way I think the paranoia from that time is what caused the awful Area of Control to come into existence, and that was some really vile garbage. In the end there weren't many incidents during JKH's time of PvP, but the fear was still there since not everyone respected that we wanted to play PvE in peace.

Pacer was stealthed in a mine you logged out in for ... about 7 hours... waiting for you. lol I had to bring him water like 3 times. It was right next to my deed at the time. ---- IMO it was probably the absolute worst decision rolf ever made. We lost around 1/3 of the playerbase in 3 days iirc, at least 4 or 5 staff members quit, I was a CM at the time and I just about did as well. The deeds on the far west coast were destroyed... some of them long before the people who owned them even knew the change had been made. I happened to be on that day and kicked our deed up to heavy guards and we were fairly far east anyhow, so we didn't get too much hassle. Our off deed areas were all fairly solidly fenced in as well. The worst part was the fact that we had absolutely no real warning... people lost hundreds of hours worth of work, some of it was just destroyed maliciously, places torn apart for absolutely no reason at all, there wasn't even loot, and the tokens were not behind any sort of walls, but decorative trees and orchards were cut, roads destroyed, landscaping (not dirt walls, but simple terraces) dug out and fields ripped apart. The part that was the most annoying to me was people standing on the hill over newtown (the start town)... a completely open plan, no walls, not even many buildings to hide in... shooting players with a bow and a spyglass from beyond sight as they spawned at the token... for some of the players it was the first (and last) time they logged in. Even after rolf decided to remove the raiding ability the damage was done. A lot of people had been forced to make very hasty (and ugly) changes to deeds in order to get walls up for some sort of defenses, and a poll on the forums came back with the decision to remove the old homeservers and start fresh on the freedom isles, so for a few months there was nothing going on at all on the pve servers because we knew everything was going to poof but indy was not ready yet. I will say that moving day was actually pretty awesome tho... a few hundred boats crossing the server border in a massive exodus lasting only a day or two. (there was a week to move iirc, but most people got across within the first 48 hrs)

really the issue is more broad, every kind of creature should have special forms like champion etc. Never understood why spawning dens are so limited to only certain creatures. Spread the fun.

As Alectrys' answer suggests, I remember that people used to not be able to sail their sailboats after getting a head injury that decreased Mind Logic (temporary effect; as soon as they healed it returned to normal). This suggests that injuries in specific body regions can cause temporary loss of different body characteristics. possibly Wiki: Head injuries cause your characters to have minor concussion effects (lowering the effective level of mind logic). For example for a person who has the ability to queue 3 extra actions, a light bruise to the head can cause the number of extra actions queuable to be reduced. That was probably added to the wiki by players because they noticed right off things like getting fewer actions to queue -- or not being able to sail their boat home. But other effects might go unnoticed if they are not clearly preventing a player from doing what they expect to do -- and thus never get added to wiki. We could ask the WU Datamining thread to check into this, though that always seems to send some people crazy when we start replacing folklore with science. Same thing happened back in middle ages too, come to think of it. To paraphrase: Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Light, Rage Rage At The Dying Of the Night

I honestly figured we'd have seen this long before now, but I'm assuming there is a really good reason why we havent yet. I've been waiting for a server that features everything available to a WO epic style server on a PVE only server. So this includes, but not limited to, stuff like... PMKs Libila stuff (colossus, spells, mycelium etc) Eagle spirits and the other cool epic monsters Artifacts Sorcery Volcanos Valerie movements Ascension HOTA (a custom version that spawns monsters that won't leave the HOTA zone making it impossible to capture unless they are all dead, instead of just the usual lame PVP) I started playing WO when Epic first released, and after realising what When PvP was like, I went to Freedom and was disappointed to see how much of the really cool parts of this was being wasted on 5% of the player population , I always thought we could attract more players with all that on PvE, but that's an entirely different topic. So I'm assuming there is some really crappy legacy code that prevents us from doing it easily, has anyone pinpointed this, or is it just super crap code that would require major pieces to be rewritte? I'd be shocked if I'm the first person to look for a server like this, so it must be a mountain of work to do it. We can dream right? Thanks for reading, long live Wurm!!! -Sullen
