today is ANZAC day, in Australia. the day we remember the fallen diggers from all conflicts, specifically the 1st world war, They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

So the idea is simple, add wooden scaffolding we can construct, deploy, take and redeploy to terraform high cave ceilings. Since adding building possibilites in mines, high ceilings are necessary for building multi story buildings and we can only flatten and mine so high. Can't reach the ceiling. So this is where scaffolding comes in, make it maybe a fine carpentry item that can be taken, moved, pushed and re-deployed around the mine so you can climb up and level the ceilings. For the sake of non exploits, should be a mine only option so people wouldn't use it for some unsavory pvp tactics. What say you?

The issue isn't botting or bad play styles. It's a stupid poorly implemented system that achieves nothing but forcing players to not play the game as a punishment for playing the game. The worst thing is that once you've managed to hit it once you're basically stuck because the system for regenning fatigue is worse than the one that reduces it >.<

I bought 2 Fivers when I first started on Xan and have not bought another horse since. I have also sold a dozen or more so I totally see where that initial seller really hurt their own market by selling to me. +1 but only if the entire taming, breeding and traits system is reworked. Would love to see the depth of the cooking update applied to animals.

I like this solution. Might allow for hiring new(er) players as sous-chefs. Instead of 1k bricks, have them prep all kinds of ingredients. I really don't like the idea of simplifying or making it "REALLY EASY." @Greyfox @Finnn If I were to make a thread saying I don't really like mining, but I want to be using 90+ QL ores anytime I want, without having to pay for it though, and without putting in the effort or time anyone else might for the privilege since not everyone wants to stare at a cave wall for hours on end... what would you guys suggest?

Stage 1 - Setting up the UO Map So how is one to make a UO server without a UO map! Thus, yesterday I researched the process of making a custom map. Thanks to Digging ForWater's YouTube videos, I was able to figure it out eventually! Once I'd gotten the hang of generating random maps, it was time to create a UO map. First I was testing out a heightmap shared from the Ultima IX: Redemption project and it actually worked pretty nicely! But when I compared it to the UO map, it had quite a lot of differences. I wanted the map to be laid out exactly like UO! So where to get the UO map sprites? Well I tried the programs used to extract files from the UO directories, but they weren't working so well in regards to the map. Then I found this great map someone had probably screencaptured from good old UO Cartographer. Not sure if the software itself still works, but this online map was enough for my purposes. The map helped me mask out the water areas, but the mountains were something I'd have to hand paint to get the shapes feeling like real mountains. A very happy coincidence was the map size. For touristy purposes, the small 1024x1024 map size would be ideal so people could more easily get around. But would the dimensions match the world of UO? I made a grid in Photoshop containing 1024x1024 squares which each represented Wurm tiles, and arranged the UO map so that it would roughly fit inside of it. Next was to install 1) the 2D UO client and 2) an UO emulator (first time I've ever tried the emulator btw!). Then, I ran around UO in god mode checking the buildings and how many tiles would be needed in Wurm to accommodate them. What I discovered, is that to my amazement and utter pleasure, the UO map almost identically matched the wurm tiles if I were to make a 1024x1024 sized map. :-o I would however have to squeeze some of the islands inwards just a bit, but not too much! Heightwise, the mainland fit just perfectly! After about (what seems) 30 experiments involving a lot of photoshopping, a lot of map building and a lot of server starting, today I've finally settled on a version of the map that I'm happy enough with. At least nothing that ye olde Ebony wand can't fix! So here they are, the two maps side by side. Here you can see how islands had to be squished in a bit. But it's fine! My MAIN concern is that I want it so that when I build a city, the buildings and spacing between the building will be as close to UO as possible. That walking distances will feel authentic etc. And below, the first screenshots of all the main places before they've touched at all. Not much to see yet, but it will sure be fun to compare once they're all dolled up! Having seen a few questions on the use of the #changemodel command, used by GM's to change their own, or player models Here is a short list of many of the creatures you can change your model to. model.creature.gmdark model.creature.quadraped.wolf.worg model.creature.humanoid.gorilla.mountain model.creature.spawn.uttacha model.blob model.creature.drake.spirit model.creature.eagle.spirit model.creature.humanoid.giant.juggernaut model.creature.humanoid.giant.manifestation model.creature.humanoid.giant.epiphany model.creature.humanoid.kyklops model.creature.humanoid.nogump.son model.creature.humanoid.avenger.light model.creature.humanoid.demon.sol model.creature.quadraped.cat.wild model.creature.quadraped.hyena.rabid model.creature.humanoid.human.skeleton model.creature.humanoid.hen model.creature.humanoid.rooster model.creature.humanoid.chicken model.creature.humanoid.human.spirit.wraith model.creature.humanoid.giant.incarnation model.creature.snake.serpent.sea model.creature.fish.shark.huge model.creature.fish.seal model.creature.fish.seal.cub model.creature.quadraped.tortoise model.creature.quadraped.crab model.creature.fish.octopus model.creature.fish.dolphin model.creature.fish.blue.whale model.creature.quadraped.sheep model.creature.quadraped.sheep.female.black model.creature.quadraped.sheep.male.black model.creature.quadraped.sheep.male model.creature.quadraped.rat model.creature.quadraped.horse.hell model.creature.quadraped.dog.hell model.creature.multiped.scorpion.hell model.creature.humanoid.lavacreature model.creature.humanoid.giant.forest model.creature.humanoid.troll.standard model.creature.humanoid.troll.king model.creature.humanoid.goblin model.creature.humanoid.goblin.leader model.creature.multiped.spider.huge model.creature.multiped.spider.lava model.creature.dragon.red model.creature.dragon.blue model.creature.dragon.green model.creature.dragon.black model.creature.dragon.white model.creature.drake.black model.creature.drake.green model.creature.drake.white model.creature.drake.blue model.creature.drake.red To use the models you must use the correct name found in mappings.txt, not the actual model name (.dae). Example: #changemodel model.creature.quadraped.wolf.worg Which will apply the model to your GM character, (also makes you visible and vulnerable). To change another player the format is slightly different Example: #changemodel Playername model.creature.quadraped.wolf.worg 3600 Note that changing non-GM player models does not work on PvP servers, the number after the command is in seconds, and I believe 1 hour is the maximum time possible (3600 seconds). These are not the only models possible of course, the file Mappings.txt which can be found inside the Graphics.jar in the client folder has a complete list, some of which may not work as intended. To see these it's probably best to open Graphics.jar in something like 7-Zip, and extract the mappings.txt file to view in a simple text editor Also contained within the Mappings.txt file are a couple of commented out lines for alternative models for some creatures, such as mappings for the halloween creatures, to use the halloween models you would have to edit the mappings.txt file and replace the one in the graphics.jar file, use this information at your own risk, I am not responsible for death by scary tree.....

Hey guys, Up till now, the only thing I've been using Unlimited for is to play around with the god tools so I can test out house and environment designs for WO. Playing around with the magic god wand has become so enjoyable that I decided I'd like to recreate the Ultima Online map. As mentioned in my previous thread, this is going to be a "look but don't touch" server and the whole server will be one gigantic deed. So I will not be opening it up for other people to live on as I just don't have time or energy to get into community management at this point. I just want to relax and enjoy building. For now, the server will be offline. Once it's ready though, I will make it public so all you old Ultima fans out there can come and visit as a tourist if you like. In this thread, I'll be documenting the whole process as I go along. I know there have been some previous Ultima related projects out there, and as far as I can tell, they have died off and are offline. But I just want to reassure those people that my project is not in competition even if y'all decided to restart up your servers. Again, the reason being because my server will not be a community, just a tourist attraction. The most nostalgic MMO players I know (myself included) are old Ultima Online players. So I've named the server accordingly and will do my very best to set it up, build and decorate just like good old UO. When the day comes that it's ready to be made public, I hope you'll share a little moistness in your eye, remembering back to the good old days in the lands of Sosaria!

This took way longer than I admit to make. So, I finally finished this map, which we've linked to our current server (The Adventurer's) as players move over to it. It's a good map for hunting, exploring, with amazing views from some of the mountain peaks. The zip contains; World Machine TMD (2.3.6.3) I used to help create this (with notes) - maybe it can help with designing your own map for those struggling with WM(?). Height-map (for those who want to re-design some of the attributes) Ores-map Topology map Biomes-map In-game grid-based map to help navigate. All the .map files required to play this world, etc. There is no actions file, the sheer list of actions (undo/redo/undo/redo etc) would likely kill lower end computers, due to old age and I keep forgetting to hit save actions before closing the program... *TMD/Map is free to use, manipulate, create your own maps, no need to ask, just go and have fun! This map contains glimmer/addy ores (0.001%). Download; https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxcZRLd3WWEDNEs4d0RMRFlkblE Edit: Updated with flower fix.

Every time the client closes, via logging out via F12 or sleeping in a bed, my keybindings.txt is saved to. It is appended, seemingly, instead of overwritten. Over time it gets to where it's 5+mb and takes the launcher literally 10minutes to load. At that point I either delete the file or spend 10-15min deleting all the duplicated entries and re-saving the file. Afterward, the launcher loads normally and in seconds, not minutes. Can we pretty please with cherries and sprinkles get this long running and known problem fixed? This Example is after me running Wurm 3 times on a fresh install and no old files.

Aye some plants don't do well planted together, and then others do very well. Such as tomatoes and carrots. So an even shorter growing season than in Oregon, heh thank gawd for greenhouses. Far longer periods of sun and heat in Las Vegas; though, haven't done any gardening in over two years. Not much space for it; though, I suppose I could do some plastic 5 gallon buckets on the patio the new apt has. If I can find any foodgrade ones. Tomatoes really love water, and have seen some people use old tires as planters and/or crumbled newpaper below the roots to help create reservoirs.

What disadvantage? What can you not do if you don't have full CCFP? How does the way you play the game have more of a point than the way I play the game? Chef Online, Hello Kitty, Sims... honestly there isn't much people could throw out there that I haven't read on loads of other forums before. I liked cccdfern's solution to your problem from the start, and I'm glad you amended your suggestion to it. If the devs don't have a particular reason to exclude certain ingredients from FSB's, then sure, throw them all in there if it helps. I'm not contesting that. I was actually going to suggest the same thing on account of new players prepping food for those who don't want to do it. So clearly I'm amenable to finding a solution to your problem. What I am not amenable to, is people saying there's too many steps for them at level 58 and things should be made simpler. That is not acceptable to me. Spoiler tags for recipes please.

Hey Lichbane! Thanks for popping in. You know I actually drooled over all the work you had done with Britannia Reborn. So much love and dedication and I had even watched some players testing the server out on YouTube. Had I realized the existence of your project at the time, I'd have probably rushed over to take part in it. Alas, I've been mostly playing Wurm Online instead. In any case, I'm sorry you were having such troubles with lag etc. Thank you so much for your gracious offer on the map, but I've already created a map for this project. At first I played around with a heightmap I happened to find online, but it was not matching the Ultima Online version of Britannia, so I decided to make my own height map. I used the map below as a base, starting with the blue area, which was super easy to select thanks to having such a sold color. Turned that black for the water areas. With the mountains, since they're just a flat plateau, I hand painted them into the veiny shapes you need for mountain to give them height (as they are completely flat in this map) For the rest of the ground, I let it be relatively flat with very little height variation since that would give it that "ultima online" feel. And made the mountains stick up suddenly, like they do in UO (versus a more gradual progression of height like in mother nature). I did paint in some slight differences in height though, very very slight. With the hedge maze, I painted a white square to mark the spot where the little house and garden is in the middle, otherwise I'd never be able to "find" it once I go in to terraform. As for scale, I made a grid of the whole map into 1024 tiles and measured to see if that would match the scale of building stuff in Wurm, and it (by complete chance and coincidence) was a perfect match. And I've now been building Britannia and my measurements turned out absolutely perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the size and scale. Our projects serve a different purpose thankfully, as mine is only going to be a "look but don't touch" tourist attraction. (I've deeded the entire server haha). Where as your's is all about building a community and people setting up homes and working together like in a true world. I know there are many people out there who would love to play on a server like that, so hopefully you start up Britannia Reborn some day and solve the technical issues. I might just come and play there myself when you do!

Am in southern Ontario. So all 4 seasons, bit of snow in the winter. Rule of thumb around here was always May 24 be planting week. Chance of frost at night has just recently passed. I will be taking some plants outside for the day, bring back in at night. Was doing 16 - 18 hrs under the lights , 6 - 8 hrs dark. Seeds were from a few years ago when my eyes were bigger than my belly, so to speak. Had an ok garden last year, small but crammed tight.. hehe.. Will be expanding the size this season. For my tomatoes last year I tossed a handful of sheep manure in the hole before planting each one. Seemed to work really well. I'll def. look for that book, thx for the recommendation.

DeedPlanner 2.8.1 released! Changes: Added new stone fences Enabled placement of multiple roofs on the same tile Fixed wrong ID's of some new wall types, causing them to be saved as different wall types Fixed bug not allowing you to place walls/floors in caves if terrain on surface is not level Corrected wide staircases materials counts Are there any other missed DeedPlanner-related issues? (not related to deeds imported via in-game deed export feature - I will handle these cases separately)

Well met m'lord! Well, I must say this is an honor to have you chime in Runesabre! I was playing the single player Ultimas back in the 90's, so when UO came out in 97 I was aching to be a part of the fun. Alas, I didn't get a good enough set up and connection until '99 which was when I started. Played UO for 13 years straight and my old UO website is still up and running. There seem to be lots and lots of old UO fans out there, because actually it's my UO site that seems to still bring me the most traffic out of all the things I've ever done online! Astonishing, the lasting power that it has. But is it any wonder? Surely UO was the best MMO ever created? I'm not sure if it's just because it was my "first love" of MMOs or what, but I declare that no other MMO to this day, has been capable of fully offering the wide array of experiences and emotions that UO did. So far, only Wurm has come the closest. Last year a funny thing happened that just goes to show how small this world is. A friend brought to my attention a conversation on Reddit regarding the UO fan art I used to do. My friend said excitedly: "Even Raph Koster commented on it, go check it out!". The funny thing was that little did he know that I happened to be the same starry eyed lady who pulled him aside and thanked him for his contribution to UO, only months earlier when he had visited Finland to hold a presentation. It is with those same starry eyes that I'd like to thank you Runesabre! I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but I'll say it anyhow - UO has made a huge impact on a lot of people and was an astounding technological achievement for releasing something that demanding at that point in time. Without the engineers, it would have never been possible, so my hat off to you and the rest of the team that pulled that miracle off. It was an impossible feat which laid down the path for all the MMOs to come. Oh and so cool that you ended up playing Wurm. The developers insist that UO was not a source of their inspiration (or so I have heard), but the similarities are plentiful and whether or not that is coincidental or not, I'm so glad that they exist as it's part of what makes me love Wurm so much! Now back to finishing up Castle Britannia! I think Vesper will be next!

Thank you Sirene :). Yeah my sons have been playing on the free shards for probably over a decade, but like wurm unlimited servers, I never was too keen on playing on a server run by someone else. I just never felt secure enough, that the work I put into it will stay. But my sons have had tons of fun in those :). Oh those two were among my favorites as well! I had a greek restaurant and resort on the southern shores of Fire Island. I loved living there. It was so far away from the hustle and bustle, and it was exciting to know the dragons were so close by. And Moonglow! My absolute FAVORITE place to play my little thief (back before it was split into Felucca and Trammel and stealing was still fun) I laughed TEARS playing that thief. I was so evil playing cat and mouse with my victims, but in the end I'd usually give them their stuff back :).

Applause to the map you did! I am waiting with excitement to see it with buildings. And when it opens up to public we should as a bunch stand on the Brit bank before we spread all over the map... and playing yoyo or doing other silly stuff to draw attention... or selling black horses ;). Btw you can always go for free to Ulima Online forever server which allows free playing on the original maps. I have a soft spot for Moonglow and Fire Island... Moonglow was the Island I spend the most time as a newbie mage grabbing regs which did spawn on the earth back then. On Fire I had my first log cabin and tamed Dragons from the balcony running inside when they did firespit to hard on me.

Thanks so much for the support guys! Ayes, oh I remember Active worlds! It was the first virtual reality / sandbox game I ever tried. I think I tried it in the late 90's. Only a little bit though. I might have had lag issues, can't remember. Then once I tried UO in 99, I was hooked forever. Speaking of UO, I started thinking how cool it would be to recreate Britannia in Wurm Unlimited. So, I've spent the entire day now learning how to create my own WU map and I succeeded in doing so thanks to the great tutorials Digging ForWater did. It was from the map generator that I discovered that you already CAN make 1024x1024 sized maps! So I made one and yes, it's a perfect size for this purpose! After testing that out, I then snooped for a Ultima Online height map and found one that looked pretty good. Modified it a bit in Photoshop and imported it to the map generator. That was a success as well and flying around in it now actually. Now I just need to get a UO emulator set up so I can play UO while building in WU so I can try to mimic the buildings and landscapes. Patching UO as we speak. It will be my first time trying a UO emulator although I know they've been around for years. Also saw that several people have tried making Ultima servers here in WU and their efforts were fantastic, very very impressive. Such a shame to see their projects have died out eventually. Even if they decide to go into business again, my "look but don't touch" project is not in any competition thankfully, since it's not for creating communities. Sirene: Aww thank you. I certainly will if I get anything worth putting up to see! *hugs*

I personally have NEVER hit fatigue timer keep in mind that the 12 hours of fatigue you start with... by the time you use it... you've now gained another 4 hours and by the time u use 3 of those u get another so you could literally have your timer bar moving nonstop... for a total of 17 hours straight before hitting fatigue.... under normal circumstances this is pretty much impossible to do. the only people i know of that did hit fatigue timers regularly.... were all people that were macroing.... some admittedly and some not... there was a guy that did weaponsmithing grind with me and he hit the fatigue timer... he also didnt sleep at all for multiple days in a row and seemed to be on death incarnate by the time he was done... I think he then went and slept for 3-4 days straight to make up for it. You should not hit fatigue that often... even keeping food and water bars full... and spamming those actions... not eating showering sleeping... nothing else for 17 hours straight... You will NEVER hit fatigue while hunting/fighting. I'm sorry but if you hit fatigue from butchering and burying... then you will make me laugh. keep in mind the average battle will last more than 30-60 seconds plus you have time travelled between monsters. oh... and having 17 hours worth wait no... thats 17 hours STRAIGHT timers... if you throw in time to kill mobs it will take you more than that to hit fatigue maybe 30+ hours and where are you finding enough animals to kill for 30+ hours... especially when ur killing them QUICKLY... because keep in mind you have to spend most of ur time butchering/burying to hit fatigue.. Also to the guy saying he hit fatigue timers while getting to 20 fs... again... a fresh start would take 17 hours straight... now i dunno how many dolls you had... but stopping from destroying them and repairing/imping them a few times would take a lil bit of time... also it takes me 5 hours with sleep from 0-20 or 10 hours without sleep roughly... to hit 20 fs. even if you didnt use coc tools or proper weapons to gain this quicker of of a dummy... even 10 or 20 hours straight with the stopping and repairing i dont see you hitting the fatigue timer that often. I'd like to know how a NEW person to the game manages to do that. Now the vynora spell gives sleep bonus at the cost of burning fatigue... this is great for the more casual players who have 1-3 vynoras to do it... i say 1-3 because you have to wait 10 minutes to recieve the spell but its a 30 min cooldown for the priest... so having 3 vyns you can cast it every 10 minutes and recieve anywhere from 2-12 minutes of sleep bonus "roughly" and while using vynora priest alts at 10s a month (premium) is cheaper than buying 10+ sleep powders for the month... This does eat quite a bit of fatigue if you are seriously playing wurm that often and timers only. I've always thought that 12 hours was too much of fatigue. I'd rather see it shortened to 6 or 8 maybe... perhaps a faster regain so if you are playing longer as a dedicated player you will get it back faster but will be unable to do such long grind sessions. but if you have no life and want to grind on end for 17+ hours with no break... May the dieties have mercy upon your wrists and joints. You should take regular breaks to stretch and breathe and eat and oh yea... sleep to each their own though. Once i get my skills up on freedom perhaps ill have more clout to my opinions

Good points on one hand, but on the other hand your character might need some rest once in a while just like it needs food and water, since Wurm is considered a sandbox after all.
