    Hoppy went beyond just thinking of using the T-arch as a stand-a-lone and went with a double T-arch, I know he won't post a pic of his latest work so will do it for him, I really like the looks of the great room he did up. Me thinks he suffers from OCD as most wurm players do, I don't think I could of gotten those chairs lined up that well around the table myself. Oh and if anyone is wondering what the place looked like before he started the new build, it was a disaster;

I'll be making a video series of this project as well (of course!) and each episode will show the progress, + a little bit of relaxed building with the god tools. Here's the introductory part:

The title just about says it all. When I got my eggs this weekend I thought of these, and the longer I thought about them, the more I liked the idea. We could make them from silver or gold, and make them decorations like Easter eggs are now. And someday (soon (tm)) when we can put things on tables or shelves and they will show, they will look quite nice. I'd still put up with them on the floor right now if they are oversized like Easter eggs.

I'm not sure I see this whole "old accounts have insane body control and new ones dont and cant". I started epic at the very beginning and got 99.5~ archery before any bc gain nerf and also had 90-99 in most crafting skills before bc gains were bumped from crafting and now have 90-99 in pretty much every crafting skill minus like pottery and ropemaking. I even got every shield to 90 and my main shield to almost 100, shield training gives a lot of bc too. you would think I should have the best top tier unreachable bc the way things are said here but no, people that started their accounts years later that benefited from the crafting bc boost actually have higher bc than me... Maybe the problem is people relied on shooting zombie sharks/serpents/trolls too much with shafts/arrows instead of actually grinding like normal and that's what is different since gains are "supposed" to be damaged based or something now. I've never done pen shooting so I've no idea what the gains were like or are like, but it probably shouldn't be used for comparison as it doesn't feel far off killing alts for fs or using alts for grinding shield bashing and none of that is similar to actual normal grinding. All i know is a newer account has it far easier than I did as a very old account and can catch up and even pass me so I don't get what the issue is? Especially when it's shown in here there is no actual negative change apparently. The only viable complaint I'd have and understand is not being able to shield train for hours to gain bc

Okay, the center post is actually pretty good when viewed in a different perspective, and the annoyance of it in the center of a gate just means you must plan the gates accordingly. Looking at Hoppy's use of a 4 span slate arch with wooden fences is pretty damn sexy, so I will leave this photo up and just say these archs are pretty awesome.

Hmmm, i thought for a while if i should comment this inside this topic. Anyway.... I have the feeling that this archery / bc nerf is just another part in a long row.... its nearly impossible to gain up in skills & power as new player. That might be totally ok for freedom. But on epic / pvp it means you are out of game. I understand that wurm is a long time game. But lets see it realistic: - You get good amounts of Moonmetal only in pvp... so strong player gets much stronger - You get affinities for killing othters... so strong player get even stronger - Skill gain are slower in some areas now then it was years ago, so its even more impossible to close up. That wouldnt be that dramatic if there is a big playerbase, so there would be fights of 30 vs 30 or something like that. But in fights of 5 vs 5 you just feel the strength of one player. So atm its a mess to get new guys in game & stay b/c its not possible to close the gap to the top guys.... If there isnt a possibility pvp will die.... Plz find a way to balance it and make it possible for new players to get in game... archery is just one part of it.

It wouldn't really be that much better. There's little difference. You either apply the brick to the wall, or to the free reinforcement beam you get after the first one. All anyone has to do is build one single support beam. Just one. That's it. Build One Single support beam. Add desired effect to support beam (ex. pottery brick) step up to the reinforced wall you wish to amend. stop just short, or you will see dark dungeons. Use the pottery brick support beam on the reinforced wall. The still-reinforced wall will now have the pottery brick look to it. Check your inventory. Notice the support beam in it. No, seriously look... at... it. Do a little dance of joy. (Do not attempt to skip this step.) GOTO Step 2. You're not really re-reinforcing as the reinforcement itself is never removed. It never ceases to be. The wall will spend 0.000(repeating) seconds not reinforced. It is continually reinforced, without interruption. The devs foresaw the issue people would have with the introduction of this new awesome feature people wanted. They came up with a solution to the issue (people would have) before even implementing the awesome new feature people wanted.

I'm baaaaaack! Offer of a quiet corner is open again for someone interested in an area with very few neighbours. Newbies welcome, though I can't promise I will be a huge help, as I've only just returned after a very long absence, myself. The Oak Harbour area is well suited for someone looking to strike out on their own in the wilderness, but needs a base of operations while they get the hang of things, and gain skill. Loads of open space nearby. Drop me a note on the forum, or hit me up in game.

Love the idea of decorative reinforcements but...is there no way we could have them be created by adding a material to reinforced walls rather than making everyone break all their reinforcements to replace them with the new ones? Also what wargasm said + new material bridges! Great art updates lately, really enjoying the new variety.

The fact that you don't see map pointer of your location but that you have to turn your brain on in order find your way is what won me over with this game. It was so exciting back in the days, a real adventure and i would never like to see such option implemented. Using dioptra on Sol to give you back ingame coordinates(like G geografic latitude and 8 geografic longitude not uselles north west regions :D) with accuracy based on ql and some your skill would be logical though

Please take player feedback here and change your stance. I can't word that any other way without being angry either. Player retention should be your utmost priority in Wurm Online. QoL should be second in line. Adding new stuff third. Making changes like this that only make players upset and it makes absolutely no sense at all. That's all I'm going to say, thanks.

Hi all, Was wondering if there were any other amateur gardeners out there. It's spring time here so last month I planted a bunch of seeds and this is what I have so far. Show me what ya gots. From right to left... Legend tomatoes, the small green pots are Moon Flowers, then some Plum Tomatoes, Peas, Cherry Tomatoes, and some Black Diamond Watermelons in the yellow pots. In the back row, some mini yellow Pear Tomatoes and Spring Onions. Not made an appearance yet are some green beans, yellow peppers, and parsnips. Oh and think my Walla Walla onion seeds may have been too old or something, cuz tried twice for them and not even a single sprout.

Greetings, Wurmians. I'll cut to the case where I'm coming from with this: With the introduction of food affinities I quite immediately started making records of what affinities I can get on which characters, of which I have 3, with which meal. As a sort of "affinity hunt". (I'm aware some people have data mined the crap out of it and can predict affinities somehow, but personally, where's the fun in that?) First iteration was a spreadsheet. A quick and dirty approach that gets the job done somehow. But finding duplicates in this mess is almost impossible and using multiple tabs to separate types of food to bring some order into the long list of clutter only makes searching for affinities take more time. Also, I had resorted to abbreviating a lot just not to be typing a minute before cooking. Granted, you could probably set up a spreadsheet to make this all more comfortable, but I wanted a more streamlined approach. Which I implemented in a small WPF application that uses combo boxes to cut all the typing short and make searching for a recorded affinity a few clicks away from results. This was made for personal use mostly, but I decided I might aswell put it up for the 3 people who might use it aswell. https://github.com/StandbyMode/WurmRecipeManager/releases Requirements: This is a .NET application, so naturally you'll need that. You'll likely have a fitting version anyway unless you are still stuck on Windows XP. .NET Core appearantly doesn't support WPF, though, so that won't work. And no, Mono won't cut it either by a long shot. But the sources are up in the repo, if someone wants to do a Mono port, permissions is hereby granted as long as the original source is credited or you send me a request to incorporate your solution to be put up on the release page. (In which case, the porter is being credited, obviously) Installation: Extract the contents of the .zip anywhere you like, it should be able to run as is. Before you run the application, open "consumers.txt" and enter your characters names whose affinities you want to record, one line per character. Usage: You'll find 3 tabs to work with, which will allow you to assemble meals, record their affinities on your characters that are listed in "consumers.txt", and let you search for affinities or given names respectively. A quick rundown of each tab: Workbench: What do? Give your meal a name; or don't. Names are only used later in the searching function and solely for user convenience/recognition. Duplicate names are allowed, as long as the recipe is different. Empty names will default to "Generic Food". I'm creative like that. Choose a container this meal is cooked in, then add ingredients. The big "+" button will conjure comboboxes to choose an ingredient from, alternatively you can press CTRL+A, unless your cursor is currently in the text box. Tip: I specifically used combo boxes so one can enter the first few letters of an ingredient and have it jump to the best match. Modifiers like "chopped" and "diced" are thus placed in parenthesises behind the ingredient so I could just use the arrow keys to select the modifier after I selected my basil or canine meat. All combo boxes do this by default. You can also press TAB to circle through the boxes, so that using the mouse is obsolete up until finishing the recipe by clicking "Cook Recipe". This will check if any such recipe cooked in this container with these ingredients are already in your database and make avoiding duplicate records an absolute no-brainer. If the recipe is new, it is moved into the next tab. Consumers: This is pretty straightforward; the recipe is cooked and up for tasting. My 3 characters have had a bit of fried troll here. If someone were missing at a given time, worry not; closing the program will not delete recipes listed here and preserve them as you left them. There's also a non-skill "Unassigned", for when you have any reason not to taste a meal with some character. You can still search for "Unassigned" later on like any normal skill and change it. (See next tab.) When you want to save the recipe with the recorded affinities for good, click the ugly little "->", which is tooltipped with "move to archive", which is what we'll do now. Archive: The troll based recipe is now in the archive and could be found - for instance - by searching for the "Baking" affinity on my main character "Flubb". Alternatively, I could enter "troll" in the text box and search by name using the obvious button. In the left column, this will return the results of any given search. The middle column will tell you how to reproduce the meal, and the right column shows all the recorded affinities for this recipe. A selected recipe can be deleted for good ("Delete from archive") or moved back to the Consumers-Tab ("Reassign affinities") in case you have an unassigned affinity you want to record after archiving a recipe or when you realize affinities have changed for a meal after an update. Troubleshooting: An ingredient I want to use is not in the list! Like your characters, ingredients are loaded from a textfile. Notice the "Lists" menu in the top bar? Here you can choose "Open ingredients file" to open your standard text editor with "ingredients.txt", which is shipped in the .zip and needs to be in the same directory as the executable. Add your ingredient, or change the list to your hearts content, and save. No need to restart the application though, just go back into the menu "Lists" and select "Reload ingredient list". I'm doing it this way because including EVERYTHING from the get go would be tedious and there are also recipes that use other things that need to be cooked first, like pastry based recipes. I don't know how deep that rabbit hole goes, so I decided to do it the lazy way; if I don't need it yet, I'm not missing it yet. Though ideally everything that fits in a FSB should be already in the ingredients.txt in shipping state. You forgot a container in the list! Any missing container can be added the same way ingredients can. A skill is missing in the list of affinities! Turns out copypasting the wikipage for skills didn't include them all. Just to be sure, I just put all the skills in a textfile instead of hardcoding them into the program. Who knows if any new skills will be introduced in the future aswell. So basically: See both points above to fix that. I want to add a new character. Well, you know what to do by now I hope. Though with consumers I should warn you that it might be a bit finnecky and buggy. I tried to cover all ends theoretically that I could think of but didn't delve into a lot of testing. To be sure, try not to have any active recipes in the "Consumers" tab while reloading it or even better, make sure to have your characters listed prior to starting the application for the first time. Restarting the application should solve most situations of bindings going haywire, but make a backup of your "recipes.sqlite" file prior to modifying the consumers.txt nonetheless. Until I can be bothered to really try and break ###### and fix it in the next update, the safest bet is to just not modify "consumers.txt" while the application is running. With every other list, it should be totally safe though. Patch history: 1.0.1: (Minor update, just extract it over your installation to update) - Hovering over names in the consumer tab shows its ingredients and container. - Ingredient list in the archive is sorted alphabetically to line up better with a sorted FBS' content. - Some fixes 1.1.0: Improved recipe handling This update itnroduces a few new buttons to let you move recipes across processing stages more freely. Namely you can now click "<-" to move a recipe from Consumers back to Workbench, in case you find you've done a mistake in the setup. Double clicking the name will make it editable, so renaming doesn't require a recipe to be moved back to the workbench. Similiarly, the archive now lets you "Adapt a new recipe". This will copy the recipe back to the workbench where you can make slight adaptions to create a new recipe without the hassle of entering all the ingredients again. The "Fork Recipe" button will similiarly make mass inventign recipes easier, as this will copy the recipe to the Consumers tab without clearing the workbench. TODO: (For when I can be bothered to do anything on this at all.) - Possibly review the handling of adding consumers, if problems arise. - Make icons for the buttons in the consumers tab. Any feedback can be left in this thread, if any reasonable TODOs arise from it I'll add them to the list. In that case even with actual priority, not the half-baked "I could do this but probably won't" points I add myself. Happy affinity hunting, with or without this tool.

That's like saying once you learned to walk without falling and perfected your balance as a grown up you should cover your side walk with random marbles that can roll under your feet randomly because there should always be a risk of falling and the reward is getting passed the sidewalk and if you don't want the risk you shouldn't remove the marbles that make no sense and instead stay inside

No they can't.. unless you mean the 1/100 chance when improving a keel.. mast is too tricky to get last part to work, unless it's a legacy abused code where last created item(mast) from a rare material (fallen tree) is always rare, like 24kg log = 5 normal and 1 rare planks(old, and changed mechanic). Who wants one of these laying around.. you wouldn't like to somehow 'use' that and move to epic.. for an hour.. nothing to do there, so many uniques to chew on you..

Well, either a bug or an oversight, but items that count as decoration and which do not decay on deed (wine barrels, easter eggs, planterss to name a few) will decay in a container on the same deed. Which was a good trick for the easter eggs but a really bad ones for anything else that shouldn't normally decay.

I had mentioned this in some other threads but when I first started playing the game back on GV I got so lost that I logged out that character and just created another new one. This time I just stuck to the roads and eventually made it to Glitterdale, where I would start to further learn and enjoy the game. A week or so later I did relog the *lost* guy and then was able to figure out how to return him to the new place I had built. So it just takes some time and a cautious approach at first to learn your way around the not too distant areas. As for long journeys through the woods, all bets are off. Even on WU servers with those mini-maps in game they only display a limited range on front of you. As for WO, this extended period of no in-game locator indicates a firm resistance against it; therefore, "all hope is lost" is a good motto to adopt in these instances. Happy (lost) Trails =Ayes=

Also took out a bunch of regular arch's on my crafting floor of the shop with a pair of double wide arch's on the balcony and 2 half arch's for roof support, not needed in wurm, but in my eye a roof and floor needs proper supports.

So just to clarify, the steps will be as follows: Make 1 support beam Create the wall type you want with the beam Activate beam and right click reinforced wall > replace Wall receives wall texture, you receive regular support beam. rinse and repeat steps 2 - 4 it is NOT: Remove wall reinforcement Add new beam Walls will remain reinforced at all times and do not require removing them first. Adding new mechanics to change walls on reinforced walls open up potential issues and delays, this is simply adding new recipes that result in different types that use the base reinforcement beam as the starter. this is separate to house and fence types

It isn't about being found it's about being known, if you know I'm online at distance which is dangerous for you, you won't take a fight unless the locates put you at an advantage in numbers. See what Meep said. I could type in global or see my enemies type in a global and not even bother locating, ik they're online and if they're active in previous fights, i assume they're going to be there or can be there. The old locate was bad, but this is worse. Because Not knowing is better for pvp than Knowing, especially when it comes to fights/raids/hota. Hota is the biggest thing. Meep and others stated already there would have been more fights simply because they wouldn't have been able to locate and thought they had advantage, same for us and same for kingdoms on Chaos. In terms of Chaos itself, people who hunt on server and get located just go back to deed, why bother. It's safer to travel to Freedom and hunt there than actually leave deed on Chaos and be located away from one. If theres no counter to it, then locate will forever be bad. This system is by far more worse than the old, and if we're keeping a worse system in place because one day a group might wander onto a home server and be hard to find, then we're missing a lot more fights than that meantime anyway. Also, they're hard to find but not impossible, alliances who are spread will sooner or later spot and report allowing you to narrow down the bandit, thats how it always worked before. Sure they'd log off and you wouldn't know about it or not pop up anywhere and not know where to look, but there were counters via community. Casted Nolo SHOULD block pendulums, you're basically taking away the one thing it's useful for right now lol. You can already be seen walking 30 tiles away whilst stealthed, i don't think you need another mechanic siding against it.

I see no value or purpose in this. I agree that the 1c fee is probably too low for full barrels, but think there should be a REASONABLE set fee per type of item (small barrel, etc). When the cost of mailing an item exceeds the value of the item altogether, mailing it becomes no longer a viable option; and nobody wants to sail around delivering anything they don't have to. Making changes to this game that make trade and/or travel more difficult only make the economy and community weaker. My biggest objection to this is how it will impact the players that have set themselves up with dairies; in particular with the types of players that seem to be doing it. Wurm is cool in that many, if not most, of it's more useful skills are difficult to grind and slow in coming. This means longer term players generally have several options they can pursue to make a bit of coin here and there. This is not true of newbies, who have limited options on ways to make money. Selling milk is one of the few things that a newbie can do to produce a product of usable ql that has any appeal to an established player. We need to take that away from them why? We already lose a large number of new players to the game because they cant generate any income in the game. I would prefer keeping those people around, and with preferably with a bit of coin to spend, so that the community and economy overall are stronger. After all, the long term players also struggle to find customers that need their products and have the silver to be able to buy them. Please leave the newbies and their cow farms alone.
