    The circumstances of my life and the global, environmental, and political climate of the world pushed my subconscious to desire to (again) seek out the safety of Wurm's mantle. I live in a dank metropolis and can't currently move due to financial and health issues. I yearn to run through open, unrestricted, unpolluted fields (good luck being able to do that in our world), to encounter mystery and surprises, to travel. I want to live in a rural area and have a cozy tiny house, off grid, with a lush backyard and a chicken coop. Yes, that is one of my main dreams. Wurm offers this to me. It may be just "Java", but you, Wurm, give me serenity and beauty, my own crops, animals to care for, seas to cross. All of us here are seeking something, and there is no shame in any of it. Some of us are quite addicted, and addiction comes from some deep place, and I honor it. I honor it in you. How many of us here seek respite in an isolated deed and do not care to interact? No shame. I honor all of it. How many just want someone to chat with about stupid things while entertaining their DNA's yearning for "hunting and gathering"? It's all honorable. Some of us may be in a good place behind the screen. Others may not be. We're all here in this moment in time, and I like to pause and marvel at it. In my heart, I don't feel that we'll always have the internet (where the world is going and etc). But that we got together in this alternate universe and created and communicated with one another using something akin to telepathy - is nothing short of a wonder. Poignant post? I have that touch, I guess. May our Wurm remain green, its seas alive, its bounty available to everyone regardless of income, its kings and queens loyal to their subordinates, and its Impalongs plentiful. <3 Thank you Wurm Online <3

    Another day, another task in Wurm and many suggestions coming from it. Some have been mentionned in others threads, raised by others or even myself, but lets go through them again and lets hope they will get some traction. Flattening : Currently flattening only allow to flatten a tile toward the lowest point. Sometimes you want to instead use the higher one. So dual option for both flatten higher / flatten lower. Ceiling levelling: Currently, you cannot level a ceiling down, it can only be up (and currently bugged as well). Lets use some concrete for that task shall we. Ceiling flattening: Same as the floor flattening suggestion. Ceiling lowering: Well, with cave buildings, the land shapping of the ceiling is almost as important as the land shapping of the floors. We have options to raise them. Why are we still unable to lower them with concrete. Mining and random directions change: When you mine forward on a flat tile... why does it go up and down randomly specially when your skill is above 90... one can understand that you might mistake your feet for a rock when mining at low skill and weirdly change the slope... but at high one, those silly mistakes shouldn't happen. Lets change that and allow our mines to be straight. Side mention: Concrete. Most needed tools for our mine smoothness and more painfull one to obtain. Not only the fail rate is horrible, but the ash creation is the worst part of it. Most of our fire sources do not create ash, though, that by-product is still highly needed. Ash trays for all forges, ovens, smelters and others kilns, allowing the fuel we use to be transformed into ash over time.

    I'm going to give this a -1. There is already very little reason to be a Fo priest and if this change is added, Fo loses one of its last perks. I'm aware that it can be cast by another priest as well, but it's just one of those things where you can say "Hey, I can do something "any" other player can't, for once!"

    More idiocy. Who cares. Part of Rolf's vision or business model was the original subscription cost and that players supplemented the 'lower' premium cost with purchasing silver every month. Pay2Win might be sort-of considered in Wurm, for pvp-only. PVP in this game is cancer, and is given 'holistic treatment'.

    I was screwing with the transforming events on my test WU server, and some of them have pretty neat animations, though partially buggy/unfinished and there are some missing textures. I haven't seen anyone post them before so maybe this will be an interest to someone. Meteor: (ground glitches out after the animation is complete) Plateau: (tons of missing particle textures) I've got a few more videos recorded and will upload them in a bit.

    Witcher 3 just for the sheer breadth of stuff to explore and do, and there's generated miniquests as well, so good luck running out of those. Even the minor stuff shows the attention to detail!

    I think another way to avoid decay is to mail the meals to yourself and pick them up when needed. Not free but a sort of a workaround. Depending on how many meals you got, this might be viable option.

    Just wanted to add friendly feedback from a silly and inexperienced newbie. (Maybe the meals should come with a warning for other noobs like myself?) Not regretting the purchased meal in any way. It's just that I ran into a problem. I did not sufficiently enough know about decay: snowballs melting in the larder (I didn't know that 100 snowballs were better than 20), which affects the meal and it takes damage, thus reducing the affinity timer to 3 hours per bite. Unless I get a decay rune or a magic chest, neither one of which I can afford right now, the affinity meal will soon waste away I guess. Maybe there should be included (in the original post) a note about the importance of taking preliminary measures to prevent decay on so valuable and expensive a food item? Experienced players probably know all this. It's relative noobs like me that need to be told such things

    I do think some if not all of the trees could use an update they are such an important part of the visuals in the game that they should be the best they can be.

    As wurm is developed it's capabilities expand, when limits set a long time ago are reached we begin work on expanding those limits. Previously only the original crop tiles were the limit, to add new crops we expanded those limits. And make no mistake, the coconut/pineapple thing was not lazy, it was an actual decision based on having them in the game and how they'd fit, it's a bit of fun, that's all. And just to clarify, we have paid devs that work on the game, while we take help from volunteers there is also a fulltime staff team as well.

    How many times casters have been asked how secure they were, how many of us told our clients / friends that we have high channeling, SD (sic...), faith bonus or whatever we though would be safe. Your skill or the item QL doesn't matter, if your number is rolled, your item dies, as simple as that on a failure. What i suggest is simple, just remove that tiny bit of the code : " || (power < 0.0 && Server.rand.nextInt(100) == 0))", working toward safer cast, spending time to improve items, trying to do your best should be rewarded, not punished for no others reasons than "randomness". No others skill in wurm decide out of the blue that your item will dissapear if you fail to polish it, or wash it for example. Some will say shattering is needed for balance, it's a risk VS reward thing. No, no and no. It's a risk when you want to cast on low QL items, agreed, not when the game decide that your 99 QL items have 1% chance of dissapearing at 99 skill. There is no balance when you cast bulks tools / weapons, you can afford to loose something which cost you nothing, but you can't on something you invested time / money / feelings and want that special 90+ cast which will take hundrens if not thousands of tries. We should be able to prevent shattering, and that's where the first part of the code is interesting (or the whole code if you check it on WU) since the QL of the item and how bad your priest is matter. Improve your priests skills, improve your items, repair them when they take damages, let us aim for something higher and better but do not punish us, players and customers, for no reasons. Remove this nonsense and make channeling in line with the others skills like you did in the past, by removing the destroyed items parts on creation failure, or the scale/hide loss recently on armor creation.

    Server Update - 06/04/2017 All dragons and drakes will now have more damage reduction and be harder to kill. Scale and Hide drops from dragon and drakes reworked. The amount distributed will increase with the number of players (both the total and individual share). My aim with those changes is that killing uniques with more players will be more rewarding than a small group. Numbers may be tweaked more in the future. Single items in bulk containers will correctly group with other stacks of the same item. (So no more lonely lump, when there are 3 other stacks of lumps nearby) Added 1-handed versions of spears that can be used with shields. Can be made in the same way as the 2h versions. They are lighter, faster, and deal less damage but still have the extended reach.

    The screenshots posted by @Cornchipsare very cool. Thanks for those. I'm not voting on this, largely because I'm not sure of the timing. A new UI is in the works. PvP is going to get an overhaul. While I think 3rd person is a cool idea and does seem to be fairly commonplace in MMO's today, I'm concerned it would have a negative effect on features currently in-progress. I would hate to see those current efforts handicapped from the get-go on account of implementing 3rd person view right now. To me, that would imply 3rd person would either need to come first so that pvp and UI changes etc. can be done with 3rd person in mind. Not sure it'd be wise to delay ongoing features though. Otherwise, stay the course, release the upcoming features, tweak them, let the dust settle, and then revisit 3rd person later.

    75QL moonshine and vodka are fermenting atm, i think i need more stills though. Gotta keep my workforce fueled. Then the the dirt platform will function as a sort of....natural selection device.

    Well when they put in the new trees the trunks of them are great but the leaf structure is a little bad on them. The older trees like maple need an overhaul for sure and I do like the fullness of the maple but it is just outdated and seems a bit odd in coloring now.

    I understand that the 3rd person view issue is probable the smallest factor when it comes to player retention, but theres no need to force the game to be as unplayable as possible just to prove the endurance of newcomers against the game. In fact, all ideas that dont affect the core of the game, that helps make the game a bit more aproachable, a bit user friendlier, should be considered.

    Please consider that you can repair 10 damage in a couple of seconds. Whilst it's (somewhat) balanced with catapulting, from a quick glance at the damages the ram does, it looks like repairing would be very easy.

    Small QOL thing coming in DeedPlanner 2.8.0: height preview will receive additional functionality, showing heights not just when hovering tile corners, but also when hovering tile centers, displaying height values for each corner of this tile. Screenshot below: As you can see, there is a new "Import heights from game" edit mode, I will post more details about it soon. ETA for 2.8.0 will most likely not change. I do not plan publishing any new 2.7.x version anymore, so - if new wall types will appear before 14 April - they will have to wait until that day.

    The new UI update will be working on a complete overhaul and improvement, it's unlikely that there will be an option to retain the current UI as the complete underlying systems will be redone, this isn't just changing the skin or a few bits here and there, the plan is to rebuild it from the ground up and that means we'd be spending more time rebuilding this UI as well, which stretches things out. The new UI will have a long period of testing and plenty of time to adjust and take feedback, so we'll keep you all updated on that too

    No it wasn't. It's on test, yes - it was never live. After seeing an old PvP raid video recently, all I could think was "How the hell do you see people in this mass of horses" - 3rd person would make that a hell of a lot more legible - though that alone would likely spawn a huge debate. I also briefly had a play around with a top down view at one point which I think would work quite well for Wurm - though both 3rd person and top down views would need a fair bit of work to make them actually work well - making it so the camera doesn't clip through walls or roofs etc.

    Actually what's funny, only 17 of the 53 yes votes for this poll are from BL players. If the pvpers from our enemy kingdoms can acknowledge that this is completely unfair and unbalanced, and even freedomers who have never pvped can see that this is wrong, then WHY CAN'T THE DEVS?

You say you want to make good balance changes, sweeping balance changes even, but this is hardly ever delivered on, but what you do deliver on is changes like this, a change/bugfix made with no balance in mind. No quality of life in mind, and no thought of the players who would have to deal with it every day. Just like usual, i don't know why i expected anything different, nothing has changed in the 10 years i've played this game, literally nothing, at least we get told to get ###### nicely now instead of with no patch notes i suppose. Who cares about having heals, damage bonus, pillar control, who ever uses that in pvp? lol? Whatever, i made this thread expecting nothing, i got nothing (as usual every time someone asks for a pvp change). Changes like this made with no foresight are the reason the PvP in this game is dying, and that's a hard fact proven by your own servergraphs. I'm done talking to a wall. All i can do is to advise the 30 BL who voted on this thread to start voting with your wallet instead.

    I find it funny that Budda calls balance flavor of the day, when BL has been getting needlessly nerfed for years, while complaining about it and explaining why its unbalanced the entire time. I can go back and find you posts where these concerns were raised years ago, but it looks like you probably dont care. Libila saccable nerfed because freedom thought it was unfair when nahjo had it, and then despite all nahjos getting free faith changes, libila priests did not Libila has no priest passives, while all of the WL priests and playergods have very powerful priest passives (such as +25% dmg, free res stone, passive animals, +10% overall skillgain, +25% skillgain to fighting related skills) The strongest part of Libila's spellset (single target spells) nerfed heavily by cooldowns and resistances HotS only method of healing on boats (zombie milk) removed HotS' ability to convert to the new player gods was removed, limiting their spellset to Libila while the other kingdoms have access to every spell except rebirth WL can heal on boats, even as the boat is moving, so they can recover from damage taken. BL cannot do this WL can oakshell horses to have the speed of a naked horse, but the protection of a good barding. BL cannot do this WL can use priests that have passive animals, which results in being able to use two hellhorses. BL cannot do this WL have access to light of fo to heal them in group fights on land. BL cannot do this, as scorn of libilla was heavily nerfed long ago and does very little healing now, as well as requiring an enemy to be hit to trigger healing WL got access to all of BL's single target spells and enchants through playergods Can't get new cooking system ingredients on mycelium HotS taming penalty makes taming pvp required animals like hellhorses very difficult, and they will often go untame on you either mid combat or on the way to it. WL doesnt have this nerf Only homeserver enemy players are allowed to grief with alts or metagame on (JKH and MRH have official rules against this) I'm sure there are more ways you've ###### over hots players, but it's been a long time since I've even been premium and played so you'd have to ask the current hots players. You've already driven me away with all this ######, like you've done to many others. Hey guys let's give two kingdoms access to all of the spells, and then give a third outnumbered kingdom only 1/4 of the total spellset, because that's the way I want my made up lore to be. If you question me you're just trying to "upset balance" and get your "flavor of the day" added.

    I might have caused some confusing calling it a dummy type. It would be a generalized item template that would be applied to whatever template id is missing... ItemTemplateFactory.getInstance().createItemTemplate(xxMissingIDxx, 3, "Missing item", "Missing item", "excellent", "good", "ok", "poor", "No item template matches this item", new short[]{}, (short) 340, (short) 1, 0, Long.MAX_VALUE, 1, 1, 1, -10, MiscConstants.EMPTY_BYTE_PRIMITIVE_ARRAY, "model.writ.deed.", 200.0f, 1, (byte) 0, 0, false, -1); I suspect it will cause problems if the x,y,z and weight don't match. Volume isn't in the database. That metric is calculated using the product of x,y,z and placed in a java instanced field for the item type. I prefer to show the items even if they are question mark bags. That way players can garbaged them in-game. @ago, if someone is using the ItemTemplateFactory tools they have to supply x,y,z and weight in order to build. It seems like it would be easier to look values up in the modloader database instead of trying to fetch things from WU item database and then reverse calculate the values. I leading towards a mod that does 1. nothing, well it's disabled. 2. replaces all missing item templates with dummies. x,y,z and weight would need to match up for it to work smoothly. 3. an automated tool to remove all occurrence of the item type from the database. It would be a quick delete. Here we would select from columns TEMPLATEID and REALTEMPLATE where the value equals the missing templateID. Finally, delete them. We need real Template column because that is how to identify a bulk item.
