    Finally got around to grinding out my first 100 skill. [06:56:53] Carpentry increased to 100 [07:00:57] Your title is now Legendary Architect. Shout out to Pingpong who had to listen to me whine thru the later stages of the grind. Glad this grind is over so I can get back to grinding if that make sense. Time to break that 10k skill point barrier.

    Foggy Docks Hi Everyone, A huge week for WU, with 1.3 finally landing, and what an impact! I've seen fantastic meals, pink bee hives, and cows no taller than your knee (the mods some people think of!) We've got a bit to cover though, so here goes! But first... Patch notes Deliverance maintenance On the 11th of march at 1400 server time we'll be taking down deliverance for some extended maintenance to address the hanging issues that have occurred recently. This will be a slightly longer maintenance, at around 2-3 hours, so if you want to play, maybe it's time to take a holiday to Exodus, or Release! 1.3 in WU and sale Wurm Unlimited has been abuzz this week with 1.3 finally landing, it's taken a while but WU is now filled with al lthe awesome content we've had for a few months. If you're looking to get in on the action, it's currently on sale at 33% off! We'll also be looking at more WU specific subforums over the coming weeks, for WU specific suggestions, and bettert bug reporting too, so keep eyes peeled. More animations Today also sees more animations come to the game, with the following being introduced: Groom Pull Throw (combat and snowballs) Take Drop These will continue to create that more immersive feel when playing and we'll continue to look at animations that increase that as we go on. Hell horse and horse gear This update also saw the hell horse colours, as well as hell horse equipment and bridles (bridles are awaiting a client update due out shortly!) The hell horse colours are incredibly awesome, and I have to say, this one is definitely my favourite, but which is it? dun dun dun.... Esert makeover As many of you know, we ran the Esert starter deed makeover competition this week, and a clear winner by a mile was the redesign! I'm keen to see this design come to life, so congratulations to Joelle and crew. You'll have to keep your eyes peeled on the area! Community content So this weeks community content is a little different. With 1.3 out in WU youtube streamer Weem is back, and this time he brought friends! Weem did a fantastic series of WU on the Mythmoor server and starting tomorrow he's launching his new series - called Follywood - on the otherlands server.     Congratulations, depending on server size there is VERY VERY small chance for this to happen. This chance is roughly: 0.000024% chance on 2k servers (Deliverance, Exodus, Pristine, Release) 0.000006% chance on 4k servers (Independence) 0.0000015% chance on 8k servers (Xanadu) Conclusion? You are more likely to win some lotteries than getting hit by lightning in Wurm.

    As there seems to be an interest from players regarding the event i will share the relevant info. Unfortunatelly i did not get a screen capture in time.     Design by player committee is how we got rare ovens changing food affinities, which is just horrible and inconsistent. The dev team need to make the decisions - it's nice when they listen to player points of view, but ultimately, they're responsible for the game, and they should be making the decisions. Also, like pretty much all human beings, the dev team probably respond better to calm, reasoned argument than emotional screaming about how the devs clearly hate you personally.

    Eve online is a game where the people vote in CSMs (customers/players) that work with the dev team to produce positive content, it has worked great for the game. Proven sub numbers over the life of game (voted in by the players) Haven and Hearth gets a lot of feedback from community - and makes changes off that and it works. ( of course they rush out some changes and upsets the community, but they listen ) World of Warcraft, Blizzard, publicly tests all patches and game changes prior to release, and listens to the majority of players feedback who are testing the changes. ( and a lot of things change prior to a release ) At the end of the day, you wont make everyone happy, but my point is communication is a big part of any "online game". Wurm is not a AAA title like your comparing it to, it is a niche game which has a lot of potential with below 4000 premium accounts http://jenn001.game.wurmonline.com/mrtg/paying.html If you read what I wrote, I am asking for more communication between the development of the game and the customers (prem players). At the end of the day, I am content on how this change ended Thank you Budda. I also, appreciate them considering items like lumps, where you can now combine them and send at a weigh limit versus per item.

    Simple and useful, just a place to hitch animals like we already do on carts, but they'll be facing the object instead of facing away from it. I suggest 2 designs: a simple pole for just one or two horses, and a wide one for several animals Like this example 'Cause fenced areas may not be what you wanted your deed to look like, and you can also put those in front of buildings to make like taverns Please support the idea to make this happen

    Please remove the indicator light for rifts in chaos. Let rifts just like uniques be randomly found around the map. The rifts are never completed because there are 2 indicators... One you know people are at the rift as the mission progresses and you also know EXACTLY where they are. The light is not needed on chaos.

    +1 also make them spawn more frequently on chaos at that rate aaaaaand remove that stupid metagame bs so you can't check exactly who just completed the rift.

    You could add saddlebags and give a horse inventory space. Allow them to be locked, gives horses permissions that way.

    It's not viable. Base damage is too low even with every possible buff in the game, and this is before we even count in armour reduction. Dual wielding is also very bad as your offhand weapon does quite literally just about nothing and the developers have made no step into introducing viability to either of these things again in the past seven or eight years. toodles.

    Many of us are still very unhappy with this change to hellhorses, even moreso now that they have made them more interesting to use since the new colors and gear appearances. 1.5 months isn't a huge length of time if you have several people living on a deed that all need constant replacement hellies for wagons and carts. This is especially true since replacement breeders have to be bred also, and often the babies seem to come in batches by sex, so it can sometimes take 2-3 breed cycles to even replace the breeding females because everything wants to come out male. Add in the time it takes for babies to arrive and the occasional failed bad breed and yeah, its a PITA. The end result is tearing your hair out breeding hellies nonstop, and god forbid you need to take a break for a week or two for real life. The fact that they have so many substages to aging that we as players cannot see is also a problem, because we have no clue when they are going to become unreliable and unhitch. I have asked several times about an examine feature so that we could at least tell when to expect this, similar to the pregnancy timer. Retro you stated you thought this would be a good idea, but there has been 0 further word on it happening. Nobody feels comfortable about gearing these hellies, because they can/will unhitch and run away with your gear, and since the idea of using them is better speed nobody wants to just use them ungeared. We have been given numerous reasons/stories as to why this was done. The latest you mentioned here is: So, unlike every other skill in the game, we have no benefit to raising taming and body control? Most people that use hellies are already capable of taming and riding them. Even those that aren't yet, I am sure, would be happier having it made much simpler and more reliable by requiring those skills to ride and hitch them, and having the horses remaining hitched and reliable to use until death like they were prior. At least that way it is something that you can work towards and have an ongoing benefit, as opposed to a penalty you can never overcome that will eventually bite you in the rear end. I used to love my hellies, but they are now such a pain to replace and use and are so unreliable that I killed all of my hellie breeders to spare myself the headache of losing more gear. These new updates don't excite me, they just make me sad and seem like a waste of time. Breaking something and then making it prettier doesn't make people want to resume using it.

    protecting corpses has been discussed and will be looked at as we go on. Hitching hell horses past aged at this point isnt in the plans, as it stands it bypasses all skill requirements that are used as the tradeoff for the hell horses speed boost (taming/Charm and 31 body control)

    I had number 1 as well. This is an issue with Intel integrated graphics. If you have a computer that also has an nVidia card or similar, check nVidia control panel and make sure only that graphics card is used for wurm. 2. May be due to running 32-bit java on a 64-bit machine. Pasting logs might help us point you in the right direction. I had a third issue that users may come across as well, Wurm didn't play well with my touch screen AT ALL. I.e, I had instant crashes because of it. A fourth issue is the UI scaling at extreme resolutions, like 4k. You can make the text bigger, but graphical elements of the UI stay the same size. None of these issues I believe are due to Windows 10 at all.

    Hell no, big -1 from me. Finding the right traitor is hard enough without having to contend with useless left-over traitors from previous uncompleted missions. Or the traitor traitors. If this bug has really been fixed, then good riddance and may it never darken our virtual doorsteps again.

    Yep! every time i run out of dirt i unhitch the horses, lead them, push the wagon to the bottom then jump.

    It strikes me, that very many chars get said `hello` to by some random passing stranger, but there's no one at home. I have witnessed a few assuming ignorance, which is ridiculous, i agree. but there we have it. There are many reason to sit a character in the game and go afk, in WO you can run more than one window and have more than one char so this happens alot. The suggestion; Maybe change the colour of our name when afk, or have an AFK tag sit next to it. one argument against this is that `most people don't bother with the afk command`.. well of course they don't, it doesn't affect local.

    Xanadu is nice and INSANELY huge but there are a few things to have in mind: 1. Mountains, mountains everywhere It's the most difficult landscape to explore and build, by far. Most ppl need to basically reshape entire hills and dump insane amounts of dirt into the sea if they want to have any space at sea level. Newcomers lack both the skill and the knowledge to accomplish that. Moving stuff around can be a pain. Most forests have a good deal of steep terrain that horses won't climb, meaning that cutting and moving wood will be harder. 2. Lots of mobs on the north, no mobs at the south From my experience, all northern Xanadu is swarming with mobs. I mean, INSANE amounts of aggressive mobs all over the place. Great for grinding up your FS and you never run out of food, but definitely very hard for newcomers. Every time I go around my deed to mine or cut some wood I usually spend most of the time luring tons of mobs to my guards. On the other hand, sailing on the south I see like no mobs at all. 3. It has more horses swimming than walking As you probably guessed from 1.1 and 1.2, one does not simply travel by land. You'll be sailing all the time. There's a lot of lakes, so ppl need to build tunnels everywhere. And if you sail around the island, specially around D24, you'll see "seahorses" by the hundreds. 4. Feels like farming in Colombia The terrain is just too steep to farm. You would be better off having a farm on any other server. 5. It's usually faster to go to another server's Rift The rift usually spawn near the center, Xanadu is too large, traveling by land is a pain and sailing inland crossing all those tunnels takes a lot of time. Not worth it. 6. Despite all that, you'll love it Xanadu is a beautiful place and there's many friendly players living in there who would be happy to assist you (including me). Keep those tips in mind and be prepared. Here the newbie's first priority is a rowing boat.

Current version: v0.9-beta.5 (2015-11-16) GitHub repository Download User guide Example maps (possible spoilers!) Generated maps are standalone (only HTML, CSS, JS and images), not connected to WU in any way anymore. Maps can be viewed locally (using any modern web browser) or uploaded to a web server (no PHP or Java needed). Generator is written in Java, so far working only on Windows (Linux fix coming soon). Future features: - more configurable options - bridges - walls, doors, fences, gates (only when zoomed enough) - in-game map annotations - altars - dens - source fountains - source springs - custom markers and labels (non database stuff: points of interest, road names, sea names, mountain names, canal names, tunnel names...) - tower zones (guards response, building restrictions) - settlement zones (deed, perimeter) - bigger zoom - progressive zoom - more...     Weem has also done one of the best treatments I have ever seen in his video Wurm Unlimited - Should You Buy It? so if you have friends curious about the game and not sure whether they would actually like it, this video does a great job at explaining why some of us are so very addicted to the game and can happily play it for years and years, and others just cannot get into it. Nice link to send to friends who are curious why some of us love Wurm so very much! PS: In fact, I would highly recommend Code Club to ask Weem if they can put this video (linked to his channel to get channel views for him) everywhere they can, to Facebook / Twitter / WurmUnlimited.com etc because it does such a great job at explaining what the game is, what it is not, and who might like it.

    I'm sorry, but I'm going to -1 this. When it comes to completing a mission that involves a traitor creature, I'd rather not have a load of them running around all over the place. I understand that you wish to collect them, but I can't imagine a lot of people bothering to do that, leaving the landscape littered with them.

    An alternative to finding the obscene amount of source would be going to Elevation and taking hearts from the rift there back to Affliction, it is currently right on the east edge of hota and has more than enough mobs to rob from.

    The change to lump weights will make new business once people realize you can send 1000 of the .1 weight lumps, Silver and brass come to mind for 20c per 1000 sent. Hell a large crate worth of 100ql iron can now be shipped for 60c. If they thought mailing liquids for 1c was making trade too easy, it will be interesting to see how lumps being shipped out via mail works. There are other things like hemp fibers, string of cloth, etc that have very low weight and are combine able. If this was done to limit all the trading via mail as that is some how too casual and killing wurm they are shooting themselves in the foot, again just another personal opinion. That said if you COD someone a marble shard is it now going to cost 4c to send the 20kg shards? I just don't understand this change at all bleh.

    It is really dumb in my opinion have Valrei titles as a personal goal especially on freedom where the only way to obtain tomes is via uniques and even then it's a small chance a tome drops and you win the roll or purchasing from someone that has a charge. example of personal goals. become a demigod - how the hell will one do this on freedom become a shadowmage become a diabolist and so on.

    Update: After ongoing discussion and community feedback, we'll be addressing a few things, firstly, liquids will now be charged 1c per 5 kgs, regardless of unit size, a small barrel of any liquid will now cost 10c (1c container 45 / 5 = 9c) Secondly, this will now apply to all items that can be combined and mailed, hopefully improving trade of smaller combined items without damaging bulk trade. We appreciate all feedback, but I do stress that these threads are the very point of warnings like this is to provide information and avoid the changes just being pushed on as was done in the past, so keep it constructive and avoid bashing the devs!

    I get those all the time and ignore them, esp the bit about SQLITE DOES NOT SUPPORT SETTING THE SCHEMA I would ignore them until your game doesn;t launch, then post the logs here if possible

    Yep, just needs to be special-cased as Thorgot mentioned. If anyone's curious, the reason 100 carpenters can't plan 100-requirement houses is because, strictly speaking, you never actually reach 100 in a skill, so you're always below that requirement.
