Speaking of volume. Volume of brick = 8.00, max volume of bsb = 16000, theoretical max bricks in bsb = 16000/8 = 2000, actual number of bricks that fit in bsb = 1999, volume 8.00 left over. WHYY

There are many changes required for a functioning PvP server. All these changes need to be compiled and worked on and released with a new map. That way the PvP scene will get a big boost in population and will retain some of the player base in that boost due to good changes. Or alternatively we can go with the current dev idea and leave it alone and watch PvP slowly die more.

I suffer from OCD and every time I fill up a bsb with bricks I start twitching, pulling my hair out and foaming at the mouth and then I go find a puppy to kick. Please change it from 1999 bricks to 2000 for the sake of OCD sufferers and puppies everywhere. Thx

It is indeed a bug, in this method: public boolean hasSpaceFor(final int volume) { return this.isInventory() || this.getContainerVolume() - this.getUsedVolume() > volume; } The check should be >= not >.

But would allowing merchants to be taunted affect how loot is currently hidden? wouldnt this just push it on to alts, and then if thats bypassed, off chaos entirely?

Black Pearl, by Brocules Hi all, Coming straight off the back of an update with lots of cool new things, we're here with this weeks Valrei International, keeping you up to date with what's going on, so lets get into it! But first... Patch Notes Personal goals A few have noticed that their personal goals have changed, and have enquired as to whether this was intended or a bug so I'd like to go into the mechanics of it a little bit and break down what's happened. The way the personal goals work is they are generated from the list each restart, not saved to a database entry, so when new goals were added along with the 1.3 cooking update, the generation was altered. Unfortunately there's no way to rectify this without them changing again, so our plan is to wait until we have more achievements to add and will simply time it all together to minimise the impact of them changing (we'll also give warning!) PayPal issues Currently we have some ongoing issues with PayPal transactions, the issue appears to be on their side and they are currently investigating, we've manually processed the payments made over the past few days. UPDATE: The issue has now been resolved: New animations So with this update a whole bunch of new animations have come! With new fighting animations, as well as general actions, the aim is to improve visual feedback from the game, rather than relying heavily on the event window. More animations will be coming in the next few weeks too, so keep your eyes peeled! Cave testing We ran a short wide cave entrance testing period on Oracle yesterday, and I'd like to thank everyone who attended and checked them out, a few bugs were found and squished in good time, and we're thrilled we were able to release them today. This also raises the question about widening entrances on heritage sites, and after speaking with the GM team, we will be providing support for removing reinforcements on the entrances of heritage sites only. If you wish to widen a heritage site tunnel please log a support ticket and a GM will attend when available. New containers Today's patch saw two new containers come in, the storage unit and the Alchemists cupboard. The storage unit comes with 3 internal containers and is designed to store large capacity and unwieldy items such as saddles and fishing rods, they can hold a fair bit (about 1.5-2x a raft) and look pretty awesome if I may say so! The alchemists Cupboard can hold 10 different liquids, up to 2kgs per flask, and greatly slows decay on its contents. This adds a really nice look to a study in my opinion Community Content This weeks community content is from Brocules, who would like to celebrate the deed of Black Pearl turning 5, and you're all invited! The plans are as follows: I'll be aiming to attend too! (who can resist free booze?) so I hope to see you all there. That's it for this week, there's lots to play with in the latest update and I look forward to decking out my house in the new storage options. Until next time, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.

I think we should just make it so that if you walk on deed, the deed goes into a "siege" status, and all minedoors/doors unlock for the raiders, so they can freely walk in and loot everything then raiders can be happy! and more fun!

I was gonna go into a long post with examples and explaining things, but it's not worth it for some of the people here. Instead here's a few things 1. I do agree chaos mechanics probably should be brought inline with epics. I supported the merchant taunting and think it's ok. 1 hour log off on deed is ok, sure it's not perfect, but if you spend more than an hour going after one person specifically maybe you should question your priorities. I wouldn't even consider myself worth wasting an hour on in a video game, but in my 7 years I don't think I've ever logged off to avoid death and my scale would drop anyway so maybe this would help on chaos if drake/scale dropped when logging in enemy local maybe, but it probably should be tweaked slightly so maybe its like be out of the world for a min or 5 mins so you don't lose your gear due to a bug disconnecting you instantly or something dumb 2. Something I keep saying. There's no way to distinguish the difference between a war deed to play kingdom influence games and a deed people "live" at and keep their stuff like a capital or home deed. There is a very very very fine line between balancing raiding to allow war deed removal vs enabling destructive behavior that helps kill player retention. People can troll how if you don't want to lose your stuff you're a coward or a freedomer or whatever, sure, have fun, but don't blame the devs for people leaving chaos/epic/wurm if players are the problem. It's exactly what MRC was doing when they wanted "total map domination" and one of the major reasons I didn't want to come back to help on chaos, I didn't agree with it even though I wouldn't be the one being trashed on. Who cares if you can't break into little timmys mine and steal his pickaxe and mallet, or maybe he has fancy armor you can't get. Who cares, you can still drain the deed and little timmy can still fight you another day and you can still get the chance to get his fancy armor or mallet. 3. Catapulting/treb shot arc is the most mind numbing frustrating rage inducing piece of banana peels and making aiming for tile A hitting tile A actually work is perfectly fine

Specifically for Facebook, the way it works is when someone who has liked the page sees the post and likes it, that then (has a chance to) show up on that person's friend's timeline, saying "xxx liked this post". That way you reach a large pool of people that may not have heard of the game, but knows someone who has - generally the most likely people that would also enjoy the game, and take their friends recommendation at higher value. It doesn't always work this way, but that's the idea behind social media stuff at least.

I haven't done the tutorial in years, but it should go back to being that "forced path" tutorial. The one where it forced you through a predetermined path, in which you had to press the climb button to get over a hill to complete the tutorial and reach the portals to the actual game. The problem in today's era is that nobody has patience or the attention span to read/sit through anything. Most of the new blood that comes in clicks through whatever they can to get to "playing the game", then they have no idea in how to play or which direction to take (you'll see this happen time after time in youtube playthroughs of other games too). Force them to learn. No entry into the game unless they actually pay attention and complete the "training". And if they quit, so what? They weren't going to hang around long anyway with that sort of attention span.

remove the ability to shaker orb/strongwall tiles on your deed while it is under siege (could be controversial, but would actually give players a reason to bash minedoors without fear of it being instantly shut + reinforced), alternatively require minedoors to be constructed with a door lock and give it the ability to be lockpicked (also could be controversial), slightly increase damage dealt by a catapult or a trebuchet allowing people to prepare less ammo (yes, i am aware 90 skill is pretty good, i'm also aware 100 is pretty good, but, this could still be changed.), cap the number of guards on chaos similar to the way guards are capped on epic, remove the cr buff defenders get proportional to the number of enemies on deed (large raids are already terrible as is, especially in conjunction with 50 templars, basically results in everyone permanently crashing. compounded by giving the defenders a buff when your raid force steps on deed.)

Double or triple disintegration chance, change the damage curve on metal doors, make catapulting more predictable and make the messages clearer to read (similar to the old system where if you hit a tile, you actually damage the walls on the tile reliably, not now where a 10 tile winch on perfectly flat ground with 0 degree turn is 10 tiles, but, a 3 degree turn is 11 tiles), allow taunting as its still difficult even on epic with 50+ taunting, make mailing with enemies in local not possible if not already implemented, non prem accounts drop gear on logout i can think of some more

Fair enough, I get that a lot of the goal of pvp is to score loot of some sort or another, my previous post was just repeating a rumor I've oft been told. Without the help of yellow toons and the rise of freedom vaults (not to mention said merchants and alts), any decent level wild combat team should be well secured against a raid and that's the part I don't understand. Everyone I've ever talked to wanted to be fully secured against a raid and wanted to be able to raid the enemy. As a principle this seems counter intuitive to me. I look forward to an open and honest discussion about intended vs unintended usage of mechanics and if any changes will be coming soon

As it has been repeatedly stated, an updated and incorporated tutorial is already in the works, this isnt defending an antiquated system, this is pointing out the current system fails because of lack of awareness of it, not because of the lack of the system in itself. New players leaving is not just a tutorial issue, and it's not going to be singularly solved with a tutorial that does a better job of explaining what wurm is, although it will go a long way. There are many reasons new players dont stick around or grow bored of the game quickly, sandbox has been thrown around as a genre so much many don't realise what a true sandbox game is, and struggle with self set goals. The user interface requires a lot of reading tabs rather than looking at the game itself, which is what we're currently working on and will continue to do so. Like I've said in the past few months, getting new players into the game is important, but focusing on what keeps them playing is just as important, if not more so. We will continue to work on improving not only the new player experience, but also ways to ensure that they realise just what is possible in wurm.

would be nice if we could store alchemy products like potions, oils, ointments, salves, covers in a... alchemists cupboard?
  22. 3 points
It's based on volume, not count.it's not possible to mix and match what can be placed in. If OCD is an issue crates can be used, or you could simply store a round number instead of maxing it out

You're totally right, we should probably be doing magazine and newspaper ads instead.

I don't think Merchants are the big deal here. There's a mechanic already in to deal with it, with taunting, just needs to be put on the server. Don't give the crap with merchants on starter deeds either, nobody uses them now, especially with being able to cross borders to anywhere, on any side of the server. It's being able to just log out everything on your 15 sermon alts, which goes around that Merchant taunting thing.. so it makes it irrelevant. Now, how do you change/stop that? I don't think you can. Unless, I guess, if you make it premium-only. But then again, $ $ $ $ $ $$ $ $ $ $ $$$ $ $ $ $

Oh yay, a person too eager to belittle me to actually refute any argument in the thread, but also a person who enjoys doing the same thing he is bitching about. Clearly a Madnezz protege. Does it bother you i'm asking for the same things ive been asking for for years, but they are the same things your kingdom was asking for when they were winning and trying to prevent when they were losing so the developers would cater for them? Or is it too difficult to read your own post history? You tell me.

In terms of UI, could have a separate tab for every ally and village, named either after them, or "Alliance - Exodus", "Alliance - Xanadu", etc. In case of too many tabs, a dropdown list could be an option

pvp is fun, sure. but, in the current meta, lets look at something here pvp = reward raid =/= pvp raid =/= loot/reward if raiding is too difficult, it becomes harder for anyone to tip the scales, or for anyone to make land progression, and with every patch raiding becomes harder, and harder, and harder, and loot becomes more and more secure. You basically only raid if you are angry enough that a 37 copper drain is enough to justify 8 hours of work not including the pre-prep and planning. I remember the last capitol raid i attended started because we had no horses, so we took theirs, now, in most cases, its too difficult to even do that in under 5 hours if your deed is designed well and has at least one defender. Basically if you want any loot, and by loot, i mean raw mats as its the only thing you cant cram on a merchant or an alt, youre looking at 48-72 hours of constant siege if you get lucky enough to land back to back disintegrates on reinforced walls in the small window after a drain. This post was meant to try and get something looked at i guess, as the suggestion gets glossed over, so id just point out the meme that you no longer get loot from raiding anymore unless the people you are raiding are noobs. Favorite part of the game has essentially been removed over the course of the past two years.

Last time we tried this, we had to decline putting this on wild due to the merchants at the landing. Please think of the merchants at the landing.

Would be great if at a certain skill level you will be able to see which animals can still be milked when you move your mouse over them - like seeing which trees have sprouts or fields (un/tended) And the same with grooming!

forges and kitchens can be used, and the bartender feeds new players with under 24 hours playtime, there's also resource tiles in proximity locations (GM spawned if not naturally occuring) There's also public mines, and newbie bonuses (food/healings/aggro) that have a countdown of 24 hours. What you're asking is all there, but since many players were already established when they came in, they don't recommend them enough and it in turn leads to them not being used by the new players, who then don't recommend them when other new players come along. Breaking that cycle is tough in all aspects, as it involves older players understanding the current new player experience as opposed to their own experiences when they were new, and it's not really possible

Do you think thats a starter pack that inspires/makes people aware that through out summer they should invest and spend there spare time on wurm? I don't feel like it does tbh. Look at how you can advertise it as a True Starter pack for summer only, not saying give them top end items etc. Add a free deed writ, for example? and X3 their skills for 7 days. I'm just pointing out, summer is comming, spare time is there for most and we should look to snag some players towards wurm. Also, as discussed, a road map @Buddafor this year would inspire current players, especially the community holding out for pvp

i think Grey means: if you are aware of Wurm, you have already pressed Like on Facebook. How are you reaching those not aware? And giving WU keys is great for WU, but how about offering some incentive for Wurm Online? Maybe a newbie starter boost or something during summer?

I did a bind to shift-f5 to toggle sleep bonus. I think that is easy enough, no need to change the default (for a lot of people who are used to the display bind, it may cause starting SB unwanted). You can easily do a bind (in my case shift-f5): bind Shift+F5 "say /fsleep" Of course you can bind it to F5 if you wish

First, your client may not be set in settings to "auto dump", which means you may not have any skill dump files You can change that via your client settings, but if you just want a "one off" skill dump, press f1 in game to bring up the game's console. When that pops up, type dump skills into the text field at the bottom of the console screen. Press Enter. Close the console popup by pressing f1 again. Now, on your computer, you have to locate where your Wurm folder (the game) is saved to. Searching for a folder on your computer titled "Players" might help locate the Wurm folder a little easier.Once you've located the "Players" folder. look inside of it. You should see all the names of the characters that you have logged in through that client. If Hailiah is also the character's name that you primarily play (and the character you wanted the skill dump of), open the folder titled "Hailiah". Inside that folder there should be another folder titled "dumps". Open that folder and you will see dated .txt files. Those are your skill dumps. When you log into Niarja, you need to upload one of those dated .txt files. Obviously, the newest dated would have your most recent skill data.

Well, I didn't mean that your deed membership would cross servers, simply that there was a way to talk to your group, while one or more of you might be on different servers. Like team chat, but that team is already defined. Just might be nice for those of us who are near-but-not-entirely hermits, or at least less social, to get to chat with the people we like, no matter where we are.

Update Issued at 2017-02-19 @ 14:30 GMT (UTC) (February 19, 2017) We were able to find some time this past 2 weeks to get some in game exploring done and have made a few changes and discoveries as noted below. Black Dog Island (25x, 28y; J14) - updated the position of Fist of Seafarer obelisk as it was slightly out of place on the map - add a new mission site to the east side of Black Dog Island - Songs Spear - adjusted the position of the 2 northerly guard towers to reflect their correct locations - updated the road system on the island Indy, north of Dragon Fang (33x, 29y and 35x, 27y; J17) - updated the roads where sections have been removed - added the bridge that crosses the lake at 35x, 27y North Crystal Lake (42x, 34y; F19) - added the mission site Winters Stand North Crystal Lake (45x, 33y; F19) - added the cave canal that connects Crystal Lake with (eventually) Crystal Bay South Eastern Steppe (56x, 55y; R24) - corrected the mission obelisk name (thanks to Ersitu for the forum post) As always, we have removed disbanded deeds and added those submitted to the Albia Roads Map of Indy forum. Wurm is waiting.... Skyefox and Hughmongus Cartographers of Indy Co-Administrators - The Albia Roads Map of Indy

-1 If you have animals that someone else is caring for, then you should return it to it's owner. I also don't want this because I don't anyone to be able to "override" any animal that I care for. On Chaos (and Freedom) my deed and alliance mates see that a horse is being cared for by Wargasm, so they know it's my horse, without having to brand it.

Now that Rolf is on indefinite holiday, is it possible that we will see a logical change to that mechanic? Because, honestly, it's quite unfair to require me to put woa on someone else's tool (temporarily), just for a little bit of speed bonus. Meanwhile, almost every other crafter has the ability to speed up their imp job via their own woa tools (aside from pottery - the hand). You've already explained how the water itself is nerfed because of the "OP" 100ql and that's why we fail a lot with it (meanwhile, cooking ingredients are also 100ql but don't seem to be nerfed in the same regard). Why are we, smiths, crippled in multiple ways? And to stay on topic with the thread, 99.8 BS here and imping anything from 88 to 91 is like pulling teeth . After 91, it seems to ease up a little. I always thought it was ridiculous that I had such problems imping 10 points below my skill level. I know the team (Rolf specifically) has used the excuse that they don't want everyone running around with a 90+ql tool (like he didn't want everyone running around with 90+ casts), but if I have invested the years into getting said skill, then I should be able to use it efficiently.
